The food came within 10 minutes from ordering,i opted for the full English minus the fried black pudding, the fried egg was strategically placed on top of the fried bread which worked for me as i tried the sausage, followed by bacon & then the fried egg & bread,i was so pleased that the egg was still hot & the yoke just runny,i soon established the pork was well selected from local butchers & the remainder good quality & hot i had no quibbles with parting with my money, the food was a joy to eat & very tasty many thanks !

What a lovely little gem of a place. The food we had was cooked to perfection. We ordered a cooked breakfast and a bacon sandwich, equally great quality, hot and fresh. The service (5*)was superb from a young girl who was very friendly, professional and efficient. This place has a good selection of condiments available to accompany our breakfasts which were offered as we were served. We received our drinks so quickly with a smile! Would definitely recommend this place, we will be back!

Cold bland place. We walked in and staff just ignored us. We sat down and wondered what to do. Was it waitress service or do you go to the counter? Eventually a girl came over. We asked for a scone. There were three sorts. She didn’t ask which we wanted. We asked for cream. It was out of a squirty can. We both asked for jam. She brought one sachet. Other more inviting cafes in Kirby Stephen. They don’t deserve the trade

Travelling home from the Lakes, we stopped off at Kirkby Stephen for something to eat, stumbled across this cafe and so glad we did. My bacon and mushroom baguette was delicious, My 14 year old son had the warm beef and onion gravy bap and believe me, when He says it was the best Beef Bap he has ever had, it must be! He ordered another to eat later on for the rest of the drive home , as did my daughter with the chicken and bacon mayo baguette! Little Gem of a place! Lovely customer service, very welcoming and reasonably priced!!

We had such a disappointing lunch here today. My cheese toastie - £5.25 - was made two cheap slices of bread and no more than 1cm thick when presented to me with watery coleslaw and a sad looking salad... completely overpriced. My husband's jacket potato was inedible due to being half frozen. When he complained he was still charged £5 - a small reduction in price - and returned to work hungry. Unfortunately the place had zero ambience so very little left to redeem itself. I shan't return, I don't expect to pay for frozen, inedible food.

An alternative if the Mulberry Bush across the street is closed, as it was on a recent Saturday morning in June (when according to Google Maps it should have been open!) This place is poky and basic, but the staff were very friendly, which gets it up to a 3/5 which it wouldn’t otherwise get. Good bacon and egg, but one of us had scrambled egg which was a bit weird - ‘strange powdery stuff that didn’t seem to be egg’, she said. Also, they should dump the down-market coffee machine you’d expect to find in a car mechanic’s waiting room and get a proper espresso machine.

Ordered Fish and chips and Steak pie and chips - along with 1.5 pints of cider. £34 and some pence. Fish was so wet the batter underneath was mush and inedible, the “chips” were fries, cheap frozen ones. Apparently the steak pie was good so that earned you 2 stars. There was no salt to be found anywhere but an uncleared table and that was so wet it wouldn’t come out of the holes (I took the bottom off and tipped it into my hand) I went in to tell them how unhappy I was with my meal, but the one lad who had been serving had gone and nobody covering.

Me and my family went in for the carvery and at first the meat looked pretty good under the light of the food warmer, but as soon as it went on our plates it looked absolutely disgusting, the beef was blood red, the pork was 90% fat 10% meat, the gravy was like bog water and the roasties were raw. my daughter did not want most of the trimmings due to her being very particular with her food and the chef kept mocking her for not wanting any yorkshire puddings, roasties or stuffing balls which really upset her. Out of 8 of us, 2 of us enjoyed the meal and it was the only 2 people that did not have a carvery. Also the mashed potatoes had a strong taste and smell of cheese when we asked for a completely plain portion. But atleast our waitress was lovely, can’t say the same about the food or the chefs

Stood in a ridiculously long queue only to find no vegan options. Food choices extremely expensive. Restaurant dirty and no staff cleaning the tables. All in all a very disappointing experience.

We ordered Fish and Chips take out from Angel Lane Chippie on Saturday night when visiting Penrith. The service was outstanding as was the food. The Chippie shop is really cool with great decor and atmosphere. We loved the Fish and Chips with he spicy curry sauce. A must visit when in Penrith. Outstanding.
