Bay Leaves in Epsom and Ewell

My husband and I have been here a fair few times, and we visited for the first time since they have refurbished the premises. The new look is subtle, clean, and the surroundings are perfect. The Team of Gentleman are very polite, exyremely attentative, and they really have their finger on the pulse. The food is exquisite. We had the obligatory poppadoms, which I love the red onion and mint yoghurt. Very moorish. We then chose 2 different prawn starters, which we shared a bit of each dish. My husbands main was the madras, though a bit too hot for my taste buds! Mine was the tandoori mixed grill, and that was so big I had to take the chicken drumstick home. Our sides were the coconut rice and sagalloo. The Chef is clearly passionate about cookinf. If we had room, we would have chosen dessert. But we struggled, as the portion sizes are generous. It's the best Indian restaurant in Epsom, and the fact you have to book, says it all. Well done guys, and thank you for our superb dining experience.

We had a delightful evening at Bayleaves. Our food was beautifully cooked and lightly spiced so that one could taste all the component ingredients. I had the Lamb, Spinach and Potato Pancake as a starter and it was delicious. Similarly with our mains. The Peshwari Naan was light and fluffy and so fresh. This was the lightest, tastiest “Indian” meal we’ve had in years.

Just grabbed a takeaway from this place through Uber Eats. I usually don't bother with reviews, but gotta say, this curry was top-notch. Both me and the other half were seriously impressed. We're definitely making a repeat order. Highly recommend it! One of the best curries we've had in ages.

We stumbled upon this restaurant thanks to a leaflet on our door. After perusing the reviews, we decided to give it a shot. To our delight, the food surpassed our expectations, and the staff were incredibly attentive. Whether dining in or opting for takeaway, this has become our go-to spot for curry. The bustling atmosphere last Wednesday at 7:30 speaks volumes – not a single table was unoccupied. Undoubtedly, it offers the finest cuisine in the area, and we'll certainly be regular patrons, as well as recommend it to others.

Apparently Bay Leaves do delivery too, but no need to frenziedly scurry around hiding all your valuables when they knock... They're not bailiffs after all, just heavy meals 🤣

Our first experience here was a pleasant surprise. The delivery driver was friendly, and the food arrived hot. We used to rely on a local spot in Ewell for years, but unfortunately, its quality declined. This new place will now be our go-to spot, as it's reasonably priced as well.

Had a take away from here this evening. So disappointing. Every curry looked the same. Just liquid, very watery with chicken pieces in it. No pieces of anything in the sauce. Tasted pretty much like water too. Worst curry I’ve ever had. Have been to the restaurant for a meal before and food was good so I’m guessing sadly there is more effort put into the dishes served face to face. Won’t be using this place again.

First time using this place . Always a gamble but we really enjoyed this takeaway. Delivery driver friendly and food hot . We used a local place in Ewell for years but sadly it went down hill. This will be our new go to place from now on reasonably priced also.

We first came to Bay Leaves when we moved back to Epsom in 2015, which was a really pleasurable experience back then. We popped in here on Friday 13th Oct 2023 in the hopes we were able to get a table, and thankfully we did. The gentleman on duty gave us a very warm welcome, and we felt valued as soon as we walked through the door. We started with the obligatory poppadoms, which cames with what I think was finely chopped red onion and red peppers in a lovely sweet red juice. My husband chose lamb madras, and I had lamb dhania, together with coconut rice and the most buttery tasting saag aloo on the planet, chippati and a peshawari naan. It was my first taste of a dhania, and after one mouthful I was hooked! Simply fabulous. The bill was realistic, and it speaks volumes knowing the owner is the same after all these years. Also another indication they have a good reputation is that they obviously have their regulars, and the phone was constantly ringing. The nicest touch as we left, was when a young man opened the door and thanked us for our custom. Thank you gentlemen. We will definitely be back 😉

Excellent food and great friendly staff

A favourite restaurant for us and one we use at least once a month. The menu is extensive and very reasonable given the high standard of the food and service. The restaurant is always clean and very tidy and the service is faultless. Thanks to all the team at Bayleaves.

Found this restaurant by chance,leaflet on door. Looked at reviews,quite impressive so we gave it a try. OMG the food is amazing and the staff are so attentive . We don't go anywhere else now for a curry weather eat in or takeaway. Last Wednesday at 7.30 there was not one table free, that alone speaks volumes. Definitely the best food around and we will in future always use and recommend.

My wife & I live around the corner from Bay Leaves in Vale Road. We use them all the time for the most beautiful food that they always deliver to our home . Their staff are always professional & courteous. So glad we have them around the corner from us. Keep up the good work . 10/10

Just got a takeaway from here via Uber Eats. I’m not really one to leave reviews, so rarely do, however, this curry was absolutely excellent. Both me and my partner were very impressed, and will definitely be eating here again. Highly recommended!! One of the best curries we have had in quite a long time.

Nice enough food but staff after about 9.30pm cant hide their desire for you to leave so they can go home. Noticed this on a number of occasions. Shame as sometimes you might want another drink after the meal but not made to feel welcome then.

Food really nice, fresh, well cooked, decent veggie options. Even fussy daughter liked it who doesn’t like curry!

We used their banquet night offer and were impressed by the quality, price and volume of food we received. The starters were very tasty and had a couple dishes I'd not seen elsewhere. The mains were all tasty and as described, with my wife's being very mild as requested. Side dishes were generous and tasty, tarka dhall and paneer tikka being our favourites. Service was friendly from both waiters. The restaurant a nice space and fairly relaxed when we visited. Only minor complaints would be it taking a long time to take the initial order (seemed to wait until after we'd finished poppadoms) and not proactively asking if we'd like the coffees included in the banquet night price.

I like Bay Leaves. It’s between average and very good but it’s also well priced. I know Surrey Palace is the best but they charge you so much more. It’s just decent. You won’t have a bad meal, but you won’t be blown away

Just had a Bay Leaves delivery for the first time in a couple of years. The quality was much lower than it used to be and worse than any curry I’ve ever had from anywhere. We were charged £12 for 16 poppadums, which were soft and tasted stale. We ordered chutney, none arrived. The chicken shashlik was the worst dish I’d eaten in years, the meat was a strange colour and had no charring from the tandoor and no flavour. It looked like boiled chicken breast and came swimming in a tub of water with some tomatoes that looked rotten. The saucy dishes were fine but definitely seemed to use food colourings not usual in Bangladeshi food, that stained our skin colours not seen before from a curry. Definitely one to avoid!

Never eat in this restaurant. I had worst food in my entire life in this restaurant. Food was micro waved, it was prepared from frozen. The quality of good is pathetic. Save your life and money.

Really delicious food and great service We arrived to a packed restaurant at about 7.30 without a booking and the staff set up a table to accommodate us the food was marvellous and the staff was very helpful and friendly definitely worth a visit 5 star

They Buffet menu that runs Sunday to Wednesday is a good deal. Recommended.

Amazing food, good service from friendly staff (but a bit slow sometimes)

We were quite disappointed by our takeaway this weekend. It was very inconsistent - some great parts and some quite poor. The poppadums and chutneys were perfect and no poppadums were broken which was great. Similarly, the chicken rogan josh was absolutely delicious - tender meat, the perfect amount of sauce and spice and a decent portion. Saag mushrooms were also delicious. However, the saag paneer was really strange - sweet and cooked in a very very sweet korma sauce (one sweeter than I've ever had before) and the paneer was too finely diced and there wasn't enough. The chicken shashlik was dry, tepid and came with undercooked veg and very little spice. The raita was just horrible - warm yogurt, curdled and with a lump of cucumber in the middle of the tub. I really hope that we get better next time!

Came here for a takeaway and the portion sizes were very good. Had the lamb korma, fish madras, special fried rice, a couple of naan, and a stuffed paratha - all very tasty and hot. Would definitely come here again and would also try eating in.

Bay Leaves is an exceptional business. The food is amazing and very delicious. The staff are always smiling and treat you in a very polite manner. Would definetely recommend this place to anyone.

Oct 2020 CONFIRMED BY DOCTOR OVER 15 DAYS SO FAR I got a bad case of food poisoning the chicken was not full of flavour what i normally have i only eat this on that day and still playing up on the Friday stated early Thursday morning i will be avoiding forum now on the food bin we have has a nasty smell now !! BUT Seven years ago i wrote used to have a load of deal at £9.95 on a Wednesday and sunday now on a Thursday and sunday used to used it at least once a week never a problem

We have enjoyed there meals both at the restaurant and takeaways, but last Saturday hope ,this was an odd slip up, my wife’s Prawn puri was not a nice taste it tasted as though it had been cooked in a wok that had not been cleaned properly and tasted of lamb and was too fatty and full of raw onion. My murgi masala was a bit mild, we had both enjoyed the previous weeks dishes so hopefully this is a one off

My husband and I came here on a Sunday early evening. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The food was amazing and every dosh tasted different. My son in law is from Bangladesh and I cook alot at home and I must say what we ate was authentic. We now use Bay Leaves for home delivery as well and this is just as good. Their buffet deal on a Wednesday and Sunday as well worth it also. Love this place. Been living in the area for 6 years and only just found this gem.

We love this restaurant. When we visited the staff were wonderful. The food was authentic and each dish tasted different. Their buffet deal is such a bargain as you can choose anything from their menu, pay a tiny extra if you choose fish or prawns. We have also used them for take away / home deliveries and the food is just as tasty. I told my son in law who is Bangladesh, how great this place is. Keep up the good work Bay Leaves. I've recommended you so much my family and friends are fed up with me hahahaha. I am now waiting for tonight's delivery...

This is my regular for home delivery, food is excellent, arrived on time and really hot, good portions, can't fault them!

Awful food, dirty restaurant and when leaving the premises i witnessed a member of their staff hanging out washing (clothes!) at their back door - a direct door to the kitchen! Clearly hes living/sleeping there. I felt physically sick. DO NOT EAT HERE!!!!!!! ** unfortunately leaving zero stars wasn't an option **

I went here for a meal with friends on banquet night. Very good value. The food was tasty and nicely presented with good sized portions. The staff were very friendly. We had a lovely evening.

I have the tedious dietary restrictions of having to be gluten-free as well as no able to eat onions or garlic. Bay Leaves always goes above and beyond to ensure my menu choices are safe for me to eat and still delicious. Highly recommend!

Dine in was fine(the only thing we asked no coriander even in a sauce) We also have taken some takeaways, Everything had coriander and I couldn’t eat any of it.

We paid £50 for a curry night at home, and the food was watery and no taste, every dish had no taste or flavour, phoned the restaurant and they refused to change any food or offer a refund, we did not eat any of it and was very un happy

We ordered at 6.30 on a Saturday night, after nearly and hour and a half no sign so I called up, they said it’s on its way it’s just left. 1/2 hour later still no sign, I called back this time he said we can’t find your order, I said it would have been better if he had said that 1/2 hour earlier! I told him not to bother! I won’t be ordering from them again.

Where to start! Indeed how to.....well as our normal wonderful Indian in New malden is shut we had to try something else. How I wish I had got the pots out and cooked instead. The food was beyond horrid.The channa Massala was so bright red and so tasteless it was not even worth eating, the aubergines were greasy and uncooked. The chicken my son ordered was disgusting looking just chunks in what looked like tasteless bottled sauce no onions or any flavouring.. The onion bhajis were just about edible as was the naan. Do not whatever you do go to this place and think you are getting anything but basic slop cooked without care.

Customer loyalty means nothing after 6 years of using them we are going elsewhere. Their website isn't working and allowing 15% off so asked if they could put it through. They said no not with discount. Never had a problem but believe that loyal customers should be helped more and even offered the discount. He could give me 10% only after explaining how much we use them but wouldn't deliver.

Came here for the first time on the banquet night, we thought it was excellent value and loved our meals, couldn’t find fault with any of the food and we have been struggling to find a decent curry house in the area for a while! Service was very friendly and efficient - we will be back!

Visited here late-ish Saturday night after rather a long walk. The only place in the area where you could properly sit and eat after 9pm, so most thankful for that. Staff were good and helpful. Perhaps not the cheapest place and not huge portions, but food was nice and tasty though.

The food here is lovely. Good quality ingredients, beautifully cooked and with a depth of flavour.The staff are friendly and efficient. They keep back and don’t interrupt your conversation. When called upon they spring into action. Some may see this as a bad thing, but for me it’s perfect.The Bay Leaves could become the new family favourite.

I am gluten and onion intolerant – not allergic - so was delighted when earlier this spring we went into order and explained my intolerances only to be told the kitchen could absolutely accommodate me with any of the curries on the menu unless they heavily featured onions. We ordered and I was so happy with the food. See photos below. However my husband went back tonight to try to order the same dishes again only to be told by the white stuff and then the kitchen that there was absolutely no way they could accommodate me, that all their dishes used “onion gravy” and all they could serve me was grilled meats or a korma made with just cream?! My husband pointed out that this previously was not an issue but the staff were not interested and kept pointing at some random allergy statement in the restaurant. It’s disgraceful that the laziness of the staff working tonight have now cost them the business of the local gluten free community (a growing demographic of customers) and extremely disappointing that they chose to lie and misrepresent what they were able to serve. Would give a zero rating if it were an option for this reason. Avoid! Avoid! Avoid!

Took a group there where we received a very warm welcome from staff; food was plentiful and very tasty. A wide choice of dishes to tempt our palates. It was difficult deciding what to eat. Service was good and the atmosphere was great. We will return to try out different dishes.

Really lovely evening, great tasty food, wonderful service and would highly recommend. A special mention to the manager who looked after our mum so well, even walking her into the restaurant and making sure her curry was to her liking! Will definitely be back

As a frequent visitor of this restaurant i must say the food here has always been amazing and the staff are wonderful - Alom is a great guy and we get on well.

Upon entering bayleaves restaurant, me and my family was greeted by a well mannered gentleman, who being the host of the restaurant. I was ushered to my table which arouse no second thoughts about the five star rating of this beautiful place. After ordering several world dishes, we was served promptly and the dishes were truly remarkably strong of their provenances. Will definitely recommend and be visiting again. Thank you Bay leaves for your outstanding service it’s been a pleasure.

I really enjoyed my meal here, first impressions was great and the food was extremely flavoured and tasty, everything was cooked to perfection! The waiter was very friendly and was always checking if we was ok. I would defiantly recommend this place to anyone who is after a great night out!

We had a table of 15 we was so amazed by the quality of the food and taste that I have decided to make this my local. I particularly enjoyed my prawn puree, the detail and effort the chef put into the food was shown by their presentation skills. The service was excellent the waiters are not in your face and treated us very well.

I recently visited bayleaves couple days ago for friends birthday party and it was one of the best decisions i have made the food was amazing cooked to top standards and well cooked the service was 10/10 the atmosphere in the restaurant was so relaxed and chilled! Honestly one of the best restaurants i have been to in a long time and it is the best bangladeshi food that i have tasted! I came here as part of a hen do at the end of last month and I was not disappointed. There were ten of us in total, with ages ranging from 16 to 85. The staff were very friendly, everyone was made to feel very welcome, and the service was great throughout our visit. The papadums, drinks and starters were brought out in excellent time, and all ten of us received our main meals at the same time. The portions of food were generous without being too much. We thought the bill was very reasonable, considering the service was second to none and we all had a lot to eat. I've been to some of the best curry houses in the country along Brick Lane in London, and Bay Leaves is definitely in the same league as those. I've already recommended this restaurant to friends who live in the area, and will be going back when I’m next visiting my family in Epsom.

Having been trying many restaurants to replace our previous regular, Bay Leaves is the best I’ve found. High quality food, with a depth of flavour that others can’t match.
