This is a great restaurant very friendly staff , nice atmosphere, and the food is always excellent, my wife and I have been many times and always very enjoyable, my favourite dish is the Chicken Shakuti it is nice and spicy just as I like it

We visited the Bayleaf with our niece who was staying with us for a few days from her home in Surrey. She had heard us talking about the wonderful Haggis Pakora that the Bayleaf serves and she was not disappointed when she tried it. All in all we had a wonderful meal but this was as expected as we have never had a poor meal on any of the occasions that we have visited this excellent restaurant.

Hi, Last Saturday I was ordered murag punjabi handi and picked by myself, I feel the quality wise food was good only the problem that when I eaten got one Lamb piece in chicken handi it was really surprising me. Rest all are good for me like packaging and delivery time. Thanks

I've been a regular customer of the Bay Leaf for around 6 years. I am always amazed at how consistent the food is each time. We went for dinner tonight and, as usual, it was delicious. Feel very fortunate to have such a quality Indian restaurant nearby. I am not sure my waistline agrees, however!

Visited the restaurant with family. Chicken Bhuna was so fresh and tasty! Also loved the plain nan. Everyone loved their food… would definitely recommend. Couldn’t get a taxi and the owners took us home. So friendly… can’t wait to return.

I have a strong feeling that this restaurant’s secrets are their chefs and management team. I think they have got their chefs from far east and not locals otherwise the food would taste a bit different. Every time I eat in Bay Leaf restaurant I feel elated. Fantastic food and sound hospitality from the staff members. Can’t recommend enough. Everyone should try their food.

Come to this restaurant all the time something has changed , starters very dry overcooked, 4 Currys not much taste and garlic nann was unedible running with butter so greasy think it must have changed hands been coming for years and can't believe how downhill our meal was, also do not produce blue light card I presented it I was ment to get 5% discount but didn't take discount off bill ,bitterly disappointing experience with family

Whilst it’s certainly different to say I’ve had one of my best Indian meals and the worst I’ve ever tasted from the same restaurant, this is so true with the bay leaf. Got a take away, starters beautiful and then onto the mains. Rice was awful and the curry’s both types were absolutely awful worst I’ve ever had and this place used to be the best in my local area. Hadn’t been in about 6 months and would never go back. Chicken was so tough in both the korma and garlic chilli chicken. Korma had zero taste. The garlic chilli tasted like Heinz tomato sauce with just powders added to absolutely blow your mouth off. Managed 2 mouthfuls then enough. Absolutely disgusting and everything except starters went in the bin. Starters were exactly how they used to be and were fantastic. Onto the Nan, got a garlic chilli and peshwari. One was good the garlic chilli was dripping with butter, lumps of roasted garlic and loads of chilli flakes. Terrible so I will never be back.

Came here on Trip Advisor recommendation. Sadly very disappointed. All our curries were liquidised sauces. Prawn on puri was some prawns in a hottish red thin sauce in a soft chapati not a puri. Biryani was soggy and wet and instead of a veg curry, it cane with another liquidised sauce. Had zero flavour beyond curry. They need to up their game if this is the best in the area. Won’t be returning.

Today I ordered few curries and I specifically mentioned - Please make the curries Indian style and not sweet gravy. Please put green chilies. I had to throw both the curries into the bin as they both were sweet and not even a single green chilli in any of it. So if you are not reading the “Notes” section, can you please remove it while ordering online to save us some time and money. I was hugely disappointed as we were not ready to prepare dinner for the night but after tasting the curries, we were not left with any other option but just to have something better than those sweet curries.

Ordered a take away and was hugely disappointed, received my order and the food was cold, had the smallest amount of heat left in it, complained and got told no refund, a driver came collected the food and denied it was cold. Now I'm £25 out of pocket and no dinner, their customer service was disgusting. Will never use again

Always rave to everyone about this Indian restaurant and have been eating in and ordering take always for years. Last night ordered a take away and was extremely disappointed, pakora coating was under cooked not in the least crispy, chicken in main was dry, and the garlic Nan was greasy and under cooked.

Took my wife out for birthday meal tonight we use this restaurant regularly but unfortunately tonight the meal was well below standard 🤮🤮🤮 l ordered veg pakora and it arrived hard and burnt 🥲🥲 l told server and he advised me to try onion baggie but unfortunately it was not much better hard flat greasy 🫤🫤 my main dish & Lamb garlic chilli was very strong sauce to thick and not the usual high standard that we are accustomed to with this restaurant my wife’s main meal chicken tikka masala sauce uneditable and wife gagged and felt sick , she said we should not come back again as the meal was so poor standard and it spoiled her birthday ,it was so different l asked the server has the restaurant changed management or owner???? Hasn’t changed still best Indian I’ve ever had. No been for several months as no been too well but had a great welcome from staff. My wife had lamb biryani and it’s been reinvented into a little bowl sealed with Nan bread and a lid, I had lamb chops superb. My wife said the biryani was the best she had. Service was great. My daughter and I had a lovely meal at The Bayleaf last week, it was one of the days that the government ‘eat out’ and get up to £10 off. It was busy and staff coped well. We had starters, main course , nan bread and 2 soft drinks. The food was excellent, great portions and very tasty. If I was rating this restaurant on food alone I would give it 5 stars - but in the current climate where strict hygiene rules should be in place - this is one reason I marked it down. Waiter walking about with paper mask under his nose, other waiters with visors far too high on head so mouth not covered. Salt and pepper pots on table that should be removed, menus being reused. Finally, the other thing that took the rating down - on a night when you are automatically entitled to up to £10 off per person on food and soft drinks - you have to go up to the bar and ask for your bill, the waiter then said ‘do you want the discount’!! Why were we asked? Of course we did. Our bill was £46 so we should have had £20 deducted, we got £19.45 deducted, we certainly weren’t going to argue over 55pence, but it did strike us as very strange! Not sure why he asked us if we wanted the discount, we also had to ask for a receipt. Such a shame as food is excellent.

We have recently moved to Scotland and after trying a few different returants, we felt like the London experience and taste was missing. BUT Bayleaf was better then some of the best places we've eaten in London. The service was amazing, the food was fresh and authentic and very tasty, and on a Wednesday 6pm,the place was packed! Even with all the people there, it was a very very pleasant environment with very quick service.

Can’t fault the guys for their trust, with the order and pay at the counter. BUT please control how spicy you make things or clearly mark it as a hot dish. Just had a take away - really bad - pompadoms and the spiced onions were good everything else was lukewarm except the Nann bread it was just cold - I’ve had the Chicken tikka in the restaurant a few time - lovely - but not freshly cooked tonight just heated up a bit - what a shame ( not cheep either ) unless you can do takeaway properly don’t do it you’ll ruin your reputation and loose customers

Had an amazing Valentine’s Day meal at bayleaf with a beautiful heart shaped carrot cake as dessert! The restaurant was full on the day but the staff had always managed to keep up and always served me with a smile on their face! At the end of the day totally would recommend this to my friends and family and will come again when I come to Livingston :)

We visited this restaurant for a Valentine's day meal and were disappointed overall. The meal felt very rushed (the unrequested poppadoms had arrived before my husband had got to the table) and therefore not very romantic. My meal was tasty enough (chicken madras) although the size of the naan bread and the rice portion was quite small compared to what we are used to. What disappointed us the most was the price of the drinks- £5.00 for a pint of lager and £6.15 for a Malibu and coke. Enough said really.

This is our favourite restaurant in West Lothian . We visit at least twice a month. Great service and food out of this world and great value for money. We have been going to this restaurant for over a year and never had a bad meal. And it is geting busier every week we have noticed more and more people returning. So bay leaf keep up the good work.

Each and every item was so delicious and delivered with huge respect. I strongly suggest to my friends to taste this food for once. And giving quality food for low cost is one of the highlights of this beautiful restaurant.

Use to go here all the time but will not return after poor meal - wrong order (probably as waiter not interested), cold food and long wait. To be then charged for wrong order and for the ‘manager’ to not apologise but continue to take take away calls when dealing with my complaint. Save yourself and go somewhere else

After seeing the reviews we decided to get a takeaway, the description of dishes was good. However, three of our dishes tasted and had the texture of a chinese curry, these were the Chicken Bhuna, Goan King Prawn an Chicken Chenndai....very disappointing, our meal was £59 for 4..... absolutely not worth it.

Difficulty deciding what to have from an extensive menu So many good options, we went for the Murgh Tawa Masala and King Prawn Karahi. Both nice flavours with good sized portions. Have ordered takeaways form here previously but this was first time dining in the restaurant, with friends who also liked. Good service and pleasant setting.

We have been here many years ago under different management. Not good. We intended to go to Zaika in Eliburn, which reopened recently. However it is take away only at the moment, so we decided to try Bay Leaf in Pumpherston.

Had this restaurant recommended to me by a friend and wasn't disapointed. We went for a take-away to start. Had the mixed starter for 2 followed by the lamb bhuna and I can highly recommend you give this place a try. Next time I go it will be for a sit in meal.

Fantastic food the restaurant does not reflect on the food at all as it's a little dated and plastic chairs and table covers. But the food is heavenly best in west Lothian

Seven of us had a meal here after booking a table beforehand. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. Service was first class and at no point rushed. The food was excellent with no complaints from any of our group that all had starters and a main meal. Would recommend anyone to visit here going by our experience there.

We visited for the 2nd time in a month. This time we took my Mum for her birthday and as such all the family went, including two children. The service is fantastic, the staff makes everyone feel very welcome. To add to this the food is super, great quality, large portions and fab choice.

Went with family for dinner, made a right choice as we choose Bay leaf. We are quite happy with the hospitality received from all staffs, and quality food from starter to main course. Definitely, this is marked as a frequent place to visit. Moreover, review wont be completed without mentioning Ajay ( staff at the restaurant), thankful for the great service provided.

Myself and my wife attended the Bay Leaf at the beginning of October 2019 and from the minute we entered the restaurant we were made to feel very special.
