Tina not only was a lovely person but she helped me choose my dish . I had been visiting my Mother in the local hospital and so it was a tough day . She made me feel so welcome , immediately offered me a carafe of water and suggested I had a masala chai . This was just what I needed , along with her cooking and heartfelt chat . Lovely little restaurant to sit in too ….

We love this place! It’s amazing. Excellent service, lovely food and reasonably priced. The food is full of flavour and cooked with care. We have been as a couple, as a family and in large groups. Never fail!! Definitely recommend!!

Bawarchi is an old fashioned Indian restaurant that caters mostly to its local community round Kensal Rise and Queens Park in North West London. If you're a regular they remember who you are and they chat. (They also offer an after dinner drink on the house). We visited last just before lockdown and everything, apart from the mood of the staff, because they weren't looking forward to another burst of inactivity, was as it should be. The poppadoms were crisp and light, the naans were fluffy and dangerously more-is, the Pathia special (recommended) was spicy, the chana dal creamy. Good value, friendly and tasty food (try the sizzling dishes). It's just a shame that you can only get it as a takeaway now (delivery to local addresses is free). But we have to make the most of things as they are, so give 'em a ring and place your order!

Great place to go with friends, lovely friendly staff who care about you having a good meal and are also active in the community. Tables well spaced and clean, food cooked to order and best of all they give you time to enjoy your meal

I called tonigh to order a collection at the end of the order I said I'd like to pay by card please - No you can't pay by card. I explained my mum is on her way but doesn't have her card she's just collecting. The response was NO you can't and dont ask my why you can't take it or leave it!!!! So rude so I hung up and checked online reviews and Thank you for being so rude because I've now just found the best curry house in Willesden Lane called Bombay bicycle and the food is 5 star so fresh and the taste. So now my friends if you read this review try Bombay Bicycle Much better food and customer service.

Been a regular customer for 10 years - eating in and taking away. The food is always well presented, fresh, delicious and full of flavour. All the dishes we have tried (meat / fish / vegetarian) have always been a big hit. Also the service is always friendly and professional. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED - one of my all time favourite restaurants

I came here for dinner with a friend. I ordered the chicken momo as a starter and the lamb jalfrezi as a main. Both dishes were cooked well. Service was attentive and the place is cosy.

i ordered 6 dishes for delivery, all the food was cold and dry, the onion bajis tasted like they had been cooked twice and were dreadful, there was a lack of flavour and spice.

I am so happy I found this place! A nice place to go to it seems anytime of the week! I came with a friend of mine and it was an amazing experience. The staff, the food, the service was impeccable! So full of flavours, large portions, they basically had to roll me out of the place. Such a great night and I will definitely be back!! Definitely worth EVERY PENNY.. x

I love this restaurant but not on a Tuesday. The manager nor staff will tell you, but the chef obviously takes Tuesdays off. A ludicrous decision as my Tuesday meal was horrible. So. Don’t eat here on Tuesday.

I have lived in the area for 35 years and first visited this restaurant in the early 80s. In those days indian restaurants had a reputation for greasy food that left an after taste. Bawarchi has consistently served indian food that tasted fresh and was never oily, greasy or left your digestive system feeling that you needed to reach for the Gavischon to get rid of that spicy after taste. We had samosas that were fresh without being soggy or over cooked followed a by mixed Biryani that was tasty without a hint of oilyness. The curries we ordered tasted freshly cooked and with just the right amount of spicy after taste. We tried the dahl (but I had to ask for chillies to be added), freshly cooked parathas that you could peel apart and all the usual accompaniements that one gets with a curry meal. Now that I have rediscovered Bawarchi, its for sure I shall be eating there often. The portions are generous and total for all the items ordered came to £48.00

If you are looking for an authentic Indian food experience with a twist, this really is the best place in this area and beyond. I have been coming here for many years and even now, despite living in Hertfordshire, I will always make the effort to meet friends here. You will not be disappointed in the high quality of the food, ingredients and the attentive service.

This is my Indian restaurant of choice. Love the well spiced and balanced dishes. Particularly the jalfrezi,Tarka Dall and tandoori. Staff are always very friendly and welcoming. A great meal!

This is our favourite local restaurant. The food is excellent, the staff are lovely and the prices are very reasonable.

I have been eating at Bawarchi for ten years now. The food is usually excellent. I think I've had a couple of meals that I didn't enjoy, but considering the amount of times I've dined here, I think it's pretty good going. I love Indian food & have eaten at all of the local competition & Bawarchi always comes out on top for me.

No les hemos pedido por edades ya que a menudo hubo problemas con la entrega y la calidad errática de los alimentos. Sin embargo, el pollo Xacuti fue uno de los mejores platos de comida india que hemos tenido. Pedimos ayer y pensamos que algo había cambiado ya que el orden y la entrega fueron directos y llegaron a tiempo. Desafortunadamente han arruinado totalmente al Xacuti. Simplemente sabía a sal y me gusta la sal más que la mayoría de las personas, pero era casi incomestible. Solo administramos aproximadamente la mitad de eso. Todos los sabores increíbles del plato se habían ido. El saag aloo acompañante también solo sabía a sal. Es una pena.

This is our local curry house, although we used to come here even before we lived locally as it is so good. There is a great range of dishes, and the service is first rate. We have taken people there for dinner, and they always love it too.

He vivido en altura Kensal casi 20 años y desde que el Bawarchi abierto (supongo quizás 10 - 12 años) ha sido mi favorito de la India. Es una muy buena ubicación en la carretera chamberylane, sólo un par de minutos a pie de mi casa. Fui el otro día porque me apecete curry, como todos hacemos a veces. Una vez que entras siempre recibidos con una cálida bienvenida, y muy rápidamente que son siempre dieron popadoms muy bueno. Me decidí a pedir pollo a la mantequilla y arroz sencillo, porque aunque es bastante sencilla siempre ha sido mi favorito curry desde que era un niño. La salsa es muy muy bueno, a veces me gustaría poder simplemente beber por sí misma, y yo siempre me encuentro limpiando con mi pan naan. El pollo en el Curry es muy agradable y el tamaño de la porción es decente. El precio es bastante bueno, es lo que se espera pagar un curry en altura kensal. Realmente recomiendo el Bawarchi a todo el mundo.

Hemos unos curry casas en Kensal pero este es mi favorito! Personal dulce que no le importa llevarme fuera de pista con mi ordenar y siempre ofrecen un digestivo después (no es que yo haya administrar como soy llenos! ) excelente relación calidad-precio. Ir!

I couldn't find what i wanted on the menu, a chicken madras, but when I asked for it they gave it to me. The food was very nice. The restaurant and its toilets were very clean. Staff were OK, prices were reasonable. Would go again.

... local are not queuing outside this little indian restaurant. We have been coming here for the last couple of years now. They make a great effort with their service. I tend to go for their chicken tandoori which is always tender and full of flavour but every time I diverted from it, I discover another enjoyable dish. It's my indian local and I very happy with it. Highly recommended.

My husband was working until late, so I collected a takeaway from this excellent restaurant. Didn't have to mention the 10% discount on collection. It was taken care of and they included a couple of poppadums and yoghurt dip.The menu has some unusual items and I chose the chicken breast stuff with potato and coriander.. All in all, we were all happy with our meal. Good quality naan. Lots of meat and good quantity of sauces.

We are surrounded with curry houses in this area and without fear of contradiction I can say that Bawarchi offers outstanding quality of fresh grub at a reasonable price. I disliked nothing hence the 5 stars.

Food has always been excellent, a cut (or two) above others in the area (and there are quite a few). The chef's specials are worth asking about, and there are quite a few. Best curry 1999 designators are a bit naff on the menu, but quality and distinctiveness of flavour does not disappoint!

I live locally and really like eating in this place. As far as a good curry is conecerned at relatively low prices it cannot be beaten.

I have been going to Bawarchi for years and I have to say it is my favourite Indian restaurant in the area. The food is always delicious. The waiters are friendly. It is a relaxed atmosphere. Try the tandoori chicken it is brilliant, and my other favourites are the vegetables, brilliant bhindi. And to top it all it is great value.

Dined here evening before last. Excellent service from very attentive waiters. Surprising in such a reasonably priced (for London) restaurant. The food was wonderful. I had the Tandoori mixed grill because it's one of my measures of an Indian restaurant. It was terrific. My partner had duck with lychee nuts in a mild sauce. Delicate and tasty. The pumpkin was also great. We found the spinach good but not out of the ordinary by comparison.psI cannot access this restaurant on my TripAdvisor app - this should be fixed as such a place deserves to be known.

Use this place when celebrating at home with an Indian takeaway. Have also eaten here with family at lunch times. Generally, Bawarchi cater for evenings and I and my family have either eaten here at lunch time or order a take-away. AVOID SUNDAYS, as they seem to serve stale left-overs. It does not taste fresh and is luke-warm, a sign in itself!. We ordered a take-away at lunch-time on a Monday, two weeks ago. It was the best we had yet because the chef was obviously preparing for the evening service, possibly for the week!!!. We ordered again this Mother's day and the paratha was soggy, the food was not fresh and luke-warm. RESULT = stomach aches the next morning and created enough gas for us to sell to British Gas!!. The insult is when I called the following evening to complain, I was immediately told 'Our food is fresh. We do not keep it in the fridge' DAMN LIARS!!!! Will be reporting them to the local authority!

This used to be a local favourite, I recently had the jalfrezi and a chef's special and was severely disappointed. The food had some taste, mainly sweet and very spicy, however it lacked any depth of flavour. Portions were small (mainly sauce). What a shame, this used to be one of the few good Indian restaurants in Kensal Rise.

We have been eating here for some years they always greet our family well, service is always, attentive & provides a great place for a large group, family of five like us or just a couple out for quiet dinner. There is a good selection of dishes everything I have sampled has been good, good bar selection and delivery when ordered for delivery comes hot and timely.

The service was truly terrible. The staff are so condescending and arrogant it turned what should have been a pleasant evening into a real struggle. The food was mediocre but given that there are 2 other indian restaurants very near by with far more attentive and pleasant staff I would use these in future.

Being quite novice in indian we got this address from trip advisor (2011 sticker on the door) and what a surprise !Although not always listening, the server was very kind, good advise and help finding your way around in the menu (choosing for the children, etc)Prices are reasonable (£75 for 3adults & 2children, food and drinks included)If we had to pick one downside to the restaurant, the desserts, we would have hoped to find something more INDIAN (but maybe ice-cream in plastic cups is just that :))We recommend this restaurant and do reserve, the place is quickly full !

Every dish tasted the same, the same soupy tomato based sauce overloaded with that cheap additive, onions. I'd heard from a friend how great this restaurant used to be, but now they have a new chef who sadly is ruining what used to be an excellent restaurant. The service was very good and the staff were friendly, but that is all that this restaurant has going for it now.

Terrible food ( i honestly don't recognise any of the redeeming features reviewers talk of below ). The curry was luke warm, tasteless and over-cooked.The service was awful - rude, arrogant, charmless staff. Couldnt wait to leave and will never return!

Eat here several times a year, first place we go to celebrate something as a family! Always has lovely food, very friendly staff especially the manager who goes out of his way to greet you and get to know the regular customers. Very wide selection of dishes and staff are very attentive. Always happy to eat here and tell others about it.

This is my local Indian restaurant and I am very pleased it is. In general the food is outstanding, Indian with a slightly modern twist. It is better to eat in than have a take away, though. The staff are very friendly and helpful and will always try and accommodate your wishes. Definitely worth a try...you make come back again.

This is a gem of a restaurant, I have been going here for the last 8 years when previously it was called Curry Nights. These guys present delicious dishes, they will cook your food to taste and are always happy to adjust any dish. There are mains on the menu that are not the usual that you find with other establishments and the staff are incredibly knowledgable and are happy to reccomend a particular dish. Ive probably tried every single dish which is medium to hot. If you are driving, parking is easy in some of the side streets. Go and try it, you wont be disappointed and Bawarchi, if you are reading this, see you in late November, same time, same table, you know me as Nick from Spain, previously Dollis Hill which you delivered to us every Saturday piping hot food.

It could be the items that I ordered, but this was one of worst Indian meals I have ever had. Don't get me wrong, the restaurant is nice, the people were nice, really good service, however, the food was not indian. I am not sure what it was. I guess you will like it if you are a non-Indian, as you will not know the difference between Indian and Bangladeshi food. I unfortunately was able to make the difference out and can confirm that it is not authentic.

The food at Bawarchi is delicious. It is a rarity in Indian restaurants that very dish has its own unique flavour. Service takes a while but that is because everything is cooked freshly- and you can taste that. So its worth the wait. Its not cheap but you can taste the quality.

Easily the best Indian food I've had, rather reluctant to write this review as I don't want it getting too popular and putting the prices up (very good value).The only (tiny) gripes I have is that takeaway orders are sometimes cocked up and the guy who takes the orders has a rather brusque manner (to say the least).But eating at the restaurant, service is great - very friendly and beautifully presented. Wonderful, freshly cooked dishes. Oooh, another tiny criticism - I wish they hadn't decided to put a Bawarchi logo on all the plates, cups etc, it makes it look like you're eating in a Little Chef. But I really am clutching at straws now in a futile attempt to keep my favourite restaurant a secret.

We moved to Kensal Rise from Notting Hill recently, and last night we were thinking of getting Indian take away from somewhere local, went on google and decided to give Bawarchi a go.They have a website so that was helpful although most of the dishes don't have the usual English translation. I called to place the order and found the guy very very helpful and polite. The food turned out to be excellent, a different level from your typical Indian. The food was not oily, and it had a great depth of flavor. For the last 3 years we've been going to Karma in Brook Green (which is fantastic) but it means getting a cab there, which is not always ideal, so we are pretty happy we found Bawarchi! Give it a go!

best indian food i've had in london (or india for that matter). fresh ingredients, good service, varied menu (even your veggie friends will find their joy), delicate & refined use of spices; excellent value for money. wine list might disappoint a bit so i would suggest stick with the cold beer, water, or lassies (yogurt drink).my neighbours will want to scalp me for giving away our local secret - BUT, in exchange, please, for God's sake - don't bring your screaming kids !!! (The place is small too small for noisy kids)

This restaurant is the definition of hidden gem. Very professional and highly attentive staff, white table cloths, salt and pepper shakers with the Bawarchi logo printed on them, fresh flowers in the ladies' loo. Sound like a posh restaurant? Think again my foodie friends. This place is the BEST VALUE FOR MONEY!!! And it doesn't stop there. The chef and waiters are always keen on the 'adventurous' diner and very happy to accommodate all taste buds, from mild to super spicy. The take out is maybe better than dining in the restaurant...if only because you're wearing elastic waistband and therefore less inhibited...once we ordered and they were 20 minutes longer than they said so we got free papadoms and beer. They think of everything....have I mentioned the chocolate-orange and chocolate-mint after dinner sweets?Don't tell too many people or our neighbourhood gem will turn into a yuppie hot spot.
