Invest in your business and upgrade your business decor You have great staff and decent food but it all looks broken . Food ok service good . Would only return if they upgrade restaurant .

Highly recommend this Indian restaurant. Authentic and great food. A lovely, friendly atmosphere and the manager was so knowledgeable and passionate it was a pleasure chat to and get to know him and all about his family business. He went above and beyond to cater to all of our needs by even amending dishes and creating our very own dishes to suit us. Decor is very dated and it could do with a better sound system to help the ambience, but due to a recent accident on the building I’m assuming this is on the cards for the near future? Thanks again will definitely be back soon!

Booked a meal got to restaurant we arrived all ready to enjoy our evening and the waiter came straight up to us and said that he had cancelled our table as the system had overbooked! There was no apology and we asked why he hadn’t contacted earlier, he said he had but there were no emails or messages left. He made us feel very silly and was quite rude and arrogant. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to my enemies let alone my friends! 😡

Had a takeaway on a Saturday night, paid for lamb tikka and it was just lamb, paid over £40 for a couple of dishes and they weren’t great, i won’t be returning

We went to Basmati on my husband’s birthday and our wedding anniversary. We were given such a special experience when Sol found out we were celebrating and his thoughtful touches really enhanced our evening together with, as always, a wonderful meal served piping hot and adapted to suit our individual tastes. But it’s not just when celebrating; we are made to feel special every time we go to Basmati and the standard and flavour of the food is always of the highest quality. Thanks Sol, we will be back soon !

I visited with my friend Beth on Wednesday 16th November. We had such an amazing experience given by Sol where we received service we have never had before elsewhere. He was chatty, attentive and went above and beyond as he listened to us and created us both dishes based around what we fancied and what love in a curry. The food was amazing, service outstanding, will be back soon. Thank you Sol!

I visited with my friend Bex, Wednesday 16th November. We had such a welcoming experience, even when we mentioned we had a tastecard. Sol treated us like Queens! He even listened to what we love in a curry and created a new dish based around what we fancied. Its called the Bex special 😉Amazing. All the food was extremely delicious, and great portions. Will be back ASAP!

Wow where do I start this was the most different yet amazing meal out in a Indian restaurant we’ve ever had,the location is very nice a quiet village the restaurant from the outside looks like a pub as you go in it looks a lot smaller than what it actually appears but lovely to look at.We were greeted by a waiter and from the looks he was or is the only front of house staff but wow the most polite and friendly man you’ve ever met and I mean no disrespect but his English is better than most English people, he took us to our table there were 6 off us and 2 are regular’s it was on there recommendation we went and I didn’t regret it at all the only regret was not going before but anyway we got our drinks and popadoms and a selection of chutneys and went on to order our food and this is where the waiter Sol really blows us away we wanted to try something different and he did not let us down he asked us 3 questions 1.Taste/heat 2.Texture 3.Protein and within a few minutes he had made up a dish for not just me and my Mrs but 4 off us in only a couple of minutes and we were not disappointed I said I like it medium hot and garlic and thick sauce tomatoes too which he said “ I will get a Garlic chilli Chicken with a Rogan Jhos topping with a plain rice cooked with chilli and coriander’s with a hint of lime and coconut and it was amazing we didn’t have to look at the menu for food or drinks as he recommended the wine to go with the dish’s he is very passionate about what he does the only negative was the lady and her rude husband sitting on the table behind us it was busy but he was a one man team everyone was very happy with his service but this couple were so rude and to a point racist towards him this was because they were both a bit drunk she was making a fool off herself and he asked them to pay for the drinks and leave and not to come back and went to get them their bill we overheard them saying they would deliberately give him a bad review out off spit and that’s wrong he was one Man on his own and he was very professional and polite and efficient the phones ringing the tablet was dinging every couple of minutes he was all over the place but I’ve been to restaurants where they have a lot more staff not as busy and still no where near as good as Sol,,me and my friends said as we heard the vile drunk woman say to her vile drunk husband let’s give a bad review,,so we would let people know the truth Sol you are a very good person it was great to talk with you and keep doing what you’re doing with that amazing smile my Mrs thinks he’s a bit off a looker 🤣 don’t let that last review put you off it’s a lie go there for yourself and SOL will not let you down.

Just found out that the crap waiter in this restaurant is called sol, will never go there again. Shame as the food is excellent, best stick to takeaways

We were greeted by Sol who I would describe as front of house. He showed us to a table and was really friendly and helpful. I usually have a dopiaza and as this was not a menu option I asked Sol for a recommendation. He suggested the korai curry and said that as it’s freshly cooked the chef could increase the spice and reduce the heat slightly to make it medium. I accepted his recommendation and was not disappointed. I would say the curry was one of the best I have ever had. We don’t live locally but if we did we would be regular visitors. Sol was excellent at giving us time to enjoy the meal and ensuring that everything was to our complete satisfaction. I would have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant and just sorry that we don’t live in the area. I really can’t understand why there are negative reviews but I guess you can’t please all of the people all of the time.

Heard some bad reviews about this place but after visiting we can’t quite understand why??? The customer service was brilliant, recommended dishes for us which we can both happily say are our new favourites! We will 100% be regulars. If you’re looking for a friendly relaxed restaurant with great food this is the place to try.

Just arrived home from the Basmati Chichester restaurant having enjoyed the best Indian food we have had anywhere in a while. It was a Sunday evening and the restaurant was busy so we were glad we booked. The quality of the food was excellent. Can't faullt anything. If we lived nearer, we would be back regularly. Definitely worth a visit!

Just visited basmati and they have anew waitress called Sophie. What an excellent waitress and an asset to the restaurant. Very efficient, very well organised, good interpersonal skills and lovely personality. Looking forward to being served by her again

We regularly get takeaway from the basmati and it has always been good. Tonight we decided to dine in and it was very pleasant. Our waiter Ahmed was polite and attentive, the food was a good as always and we would highly recommend to friends.

Food as very average.Ordered and were told it will be ready in 30 minutes which turned into 55 minutes. Have used here a couple of times over the years and had the same level of service. Think we will be looking for a new takeaway.

Basmati is our go-to curry house in our local community. If you fancy a curry whenever you're in Petworth its well worth a visit.

Only live down the road and never really used this restaurant. Very reasonably priced, along with very polite service and excellent food I will definitely be returning! So much food to choose from and it was kept hot on the table. Brought home a lot as the portions are generous so I definitely recommend if you are looking for some good quality, proper Indian food!

Came here with a group of friends. Have driven past it many times and thought let's try it. We used the Meerkat 2 for 1 on a Sunday evening. The staff were great and friendly. The food was average, nothing exceptional, what let the meal down was the Peshwari Nan, the worst I have ever eaten, very doughy and more like shop bought. Would we eat here again, probably not.

If you want to eat bland tasteless food in extremely jaded surroundings this place is worth a visit......

We went to basmati rice for a curry takeaway, never used this establishment before ,, but the reviews were good so we thought give it a try , well we weren’t disappointed, the food was excellent , we chose chickencurries and oneprawn curry , there was ample chicken good size pieces , plenty for a healthy appetite, naan bread and poppadums were equally as good , mango chutney and raita , all excellent, to round up it was a superb meal,highly recommended....

The best Indian around, the food is fantastic, fresh tasting. The staff are nice, very attentive and helpful. Every time I have hasd something different and it’s all been lovely. Cooked how I like. Well priced. The lamb tikki is cooked perfectly. Can’t wait for my next visit

Recently ordered a takeaway. Previously the food here has been good but have to say tonight’s was awful.

Food was excellent and good value, and the manager was a good level of attentive, and was genuinely interested in our evening.

This is a quality restaurant with excellent customer service. We ordered for collection, one regular order and one vegan. Staff were really helpful and knowledgeable. They offered to separate the orders into different bags and separated the bill. Food was excellent, highly recommended.

Had an excellent meal and received good attentive service just got it right no gaps in between courses but never felt rushed. We will definitely be visiting this establishment again.

Driving past this restaurant almost every day, I thought it was about time we gave it a try. It was unfortunately not a great experience and we will not return. The service was friendly enough but the the food was unusually bland for Indian cuisine; in particular, the lamb resembled a bit of old leather. There are a number of better restaurants in the area and we will be sticking to one of those in the future.

My wife and I are vegetarian and the food at the Basmati has always been excellent. The staff are knowledgeable and always have time to explain and help us choose the meal we want that night. The food has always been tasty, spicy and delicious. It's also filling, we have always had more than enough to eat and at a reasonable price. The whole experience at the Basmati is one of delightful food served with a smile. Go and you won't be disappointed

This restaurant serves the best Indian food around. We have used a few times mainly for takeaway but next time we are going to dine in their restaurant. I’m vegetarian and I find their menu has lots of choices. The food is well cooked, always hot and portion sizes are just right. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I definitely recommend you give them a try.

Visited here again last night with friends, as ALWAYS the food and service was exceptional. The staff will always go above and beyond to help and make the evening very enjoyable. We recently celebrated my friends birthday, they gave us a beautiful cake and champagne which Iv not had anywhere else. It was delicious! I highly recommend this place! One thing I can really suggest if you want something different from the menu, try the chefs fish dishes that are not on the menu.

Visited Basmati which is a Bengali restaurant for a family meal. When we arrived we were told restaurant was closing and we literally had 15 mins to order. The service was disgraceful. According to the website, its states restaurant closes at 11pm, but an hour before, weren’t told about the last order time. Staff are very rude, food extremely tasteless. Staff require thorough training in customer service skills. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Visited this restaurant on the off chance as our small group of 3 were in the area on route to a holiday in Bognor. We know our Indian, Bangladesh and Pakistani style food and this was superb. Visited on Friday 7th June. The service was friendly and attentive and the food was superb! We will certainly be back to see you in a few months. Keep up the good work!

Just visited this restaurant on the off chance as we were in Chichester. Service was charming and things started off well - until the food arrived. All undercooked and very bland - almost tasteless - which is so unusual for an Indian restaurant. No hint of any flavouring or spices at all. We hardly touched the food and when we mentioned the lack of flavour to the manager he apologised but assured us that this was how his chef has been cooking for the last 8 years so he couldn't change it. He just took £10 off the bill of £50 and we left, very disappointed. Best avoided in our view, and we have eaten at hundreds of Indian restaurants in our time.

we had a prawn madras and special rice as a take-away last night. by the time I got home the meal was still red hot and the curry was wonderful.so often prawns are over cooked and are chewy, but these were beautiful really succulent.The staff are always very helpful and friendly and would do anything to help ensure the meal is good.we often have take-aways and they have always been exceptional.Well worth a visit.we have also on occasion had a meal in the restaurant and have come away fully satisfied.excellant service and excellent food.

Basmati was always a reliable option but over recent months it has disappointed. Service is always excellent, though on my last visit the single waiter seemed to be struggling to cope, snd staff are very pleasant and welcoming. Food is often bland, as was the case on my last visit. Not sure if there’s a new chef or there have been complaints about it being too spicy but quite frankly I could probably get better at M&S; which is saying something !

Met friends for dinner last night at The Basmati, Westergate, Chichester, we had drinks in the bar area first before sitting down. The tables are well placed, not squeezed in like some restaurants.

This restaurant certainly looks the part - the building and decor are great and the staff and friendly and helpful. The whole thing was let down by the food. I asked for a dansak, which is billed as 'hot' - but is certainly wasn't that. My partner's dish was also pretty bland.

Came here for a take away as I'm only a 5 minute drive. Had a kurma which was tasteless and the nan bread taste of flour not coconut and almonds also the popadoms was slight stale. Won't be getting a take away from here for a while.

What can I say, really warm welcome from Hamid and the team. We went after swimming for a curry arrived at 9.45pm starving and weren't disappointed. Ordered chicken balti and butterfly King prawn and peshawar and plain naan. Naans were cooked fresh to ordeal were honestly the best we've ever tasted. Basaltic really deserves its 5 star rating. An absolute gem. Sorry for picture of empty plate, it was delicious!

I have passed this restaurant many a time over the last few years and have always wanted to try it. Well, it did not disappoint. It was one of the best curries I've had out in a long time. A good ambience, excellent service, lovely food and all at a reasonable cost. I will return.

Beyond rubbish now. What a disgrace. Used to be good and since the new year 2017 its been quite frankly sketchy. You ask for specific quality control in dishes (I. Lentils in a lentil dish, or fish in a fish dish) and don't get it....

Fuimos en una noche de martes a las 19:00h. sorprendentemente bastante la para tan temprano en la semana. El restaurante era discreto, manteniendo gran parte de pub, todos iti sencillo y con unos pocos adornos temáticos. El camarero era feliz y educado. La comida era muy buena, con algunos giros inusuales en los platos que aprender a esperar. El tamaño de las porciones eran abundantes y la comida era muy buena, no homogeneizadas y sosa como en tantos otros lugares. La cuenta fue menos de lo que esperábamos, así que fue bueno. No siento ninguna prisa. Sin duda volveremos todos ganar. Fantástica comida personal encantador local agradable.

Naz y el equipo es muy amable. La comida es muy buena y bien de precio. Buenos vinos, cerveza y licores. Hay un servicio de camino, pero preferimos comer con amigos y familia. Hemos ido a un par de ganaderos fondo donde cada mesa está reservado y también en nuestra propia como una pareja o con un grupo de amigos. En cada ocasión disfrutamos mucho de la experiencia.

I recently moved to the village and I am really pleased that our local Indian restaurant is fantastic! They also do some dishes that aren't on the menu that are also very good so it's worth asking if they've got anything on that's a bit different to the usual. I'm a big fan of this place and friends of mine all recommend it too. Lovely staff too which always helps

Last minute meal, often seen this restaurant so decided for an early dinner. Warm reception from staff and shown quickly to table. Great decor and plenty of room. Good menu, food ordered and arrived promptly. Great tasting food, hot and well presented at table. Plenty of it and above all good value for money. I think the ultimate question is would we go back? Yes definitely. Nice little car park at rear, restaurant filled quickly even though it was early evening which shows it's well liked.

This is the second time I have visited this restaurant and it was just as good as then first time. I do like the interior design with the original floor flag stones. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There were four of us in our party and we all enjoyed the meals.The presentation of the dishes is always very good. The overall eating experience was very good. They do accept taste card.

Basmati Westergate is our local Indian and we count ourselves lucky to have it on our doorstep. We have never had a meal that has been anything other than excellent (and we have had a lot of meals there!). Service always friendly, atmosphere cos.Suffice to say that my son would only consider Basmati for his birthday party next during the first week of January!

Ordered for family of 12 dinner take-out. Picked up and while waiting given drinks. Was very nice. Team included popadoms as a big order which was a lovely surprise. Try the house special Wild Lemon Lamb - was a great surprise and delight - very subtle on the lemon while being present - perfect dish.

Have had a few curries from this resturant and never been disappointed. Good cuts of meat used. No fat or gristle found, unlike other take aways we've had. Thoroughly recommend

Came here as I didn't get served from jd Wetherspoon as customer after me served first. Any way had a takeaway here straight after the cinema food was good.

Love the Basmati and their excellent staff...oh and the food's not bad either! Consistently good. We use the Bas for both takeaways and for eating in and we are never disappointed.

I decided to take my family for an Indian and my son suggested Basmati, he has been going there a lot in the past weeks and said it was the best around and he did not disappoint. The atmosphere was great the service was top notch ,the waiters were easy to talk to and the manager was a very friendly person ,offered us free drinks and .best experience I've ever had will 100% come back here

I have to second Mikey Boys review. The Basmati was outstanding, but after a change of management, no more. We ordered and waited over an hour and fifteen minutes. We sat at our table with no food, no explanation offered, nothing. At one pint, about an hour into our wait, a waiter said it would be coming soon. Fifteen minutes after that, I approached the manager & said we are walking, waited a couple of minutes & then walked. Restaurant half full. They do seem to be prioritising tak always, but those should be manageable. You can always tell a take away customer to come in 45 min or whatever. Sad, really, as it was one of the best Indians around.
