We visited recently for a mid-morning pick me up and were not disappointed! There were several gluten free cake options and I opted for the coffee cake. WOW - such a light sponge that didn't fall apart and the flavour was fantastic. I can't wait to go back again soon 😊🤩

After visiting 4 years ago we thought we would return for some lovely tea and cake while we were holidaying in the area. What a disappointment. On entering the cafe it was clear the menu was limited with nothing substantial. Choice of cakes was minimal too (3-4) Coffee and cake was fine but served on paper plates and in paper cups. Such a shame, the visit this time was memorable for all the wrong reasons.

So lovely sitting outside in the courtyard of the bashley Manor tea rooms in the sunshine on Sunday May 14th 2023. The staff were friendly and a man called Neil was very helpful with my food order. In fact he customised some gorgeous rustic bread and topped it with oozing melted mozzarella, tomatoes and garlic pesto..it was delicious and tasty. The coffee was extremely good and I also had a cold apple drink. There was a spring fair on in the courtyard near the motorcycle museum and it was a perfect day. Really love this place..give it a try you will not be disappointed. A big high 5 to Neil and his team. See you soon.

Only to be used by cafe patrons and no helmets or leathers on the tables! Wtf. What is wrong with these people. Cafes are supposed to be hospitality..... Not an inconvenience...

This morning (09:15am) we stopped for tea at the Bashley Manor Tearooms and I also ordered a pastie. When I collected the pastie it was awful, the pastry base was black and the sides were dark brown all the way through, the filling was dry and salty and unpleasant, possibly from being heated up quite a lot the day before and again for me. I returned the pastie and explained the problem to the person in charge (a man with dark hair) and his reaction was unbelievable, he took the pastie from me and in one move hurled pastie, plate and all behind him saying there was nothing wrong with it, he had 200 more on order and no one else had ever complained. He then ignored me. The lady on the till said “am I meant to give you a refund” and I said yes please, she then said as I had paid by card the man had to do it, she asked him and he eventually came over banged open the till and without saying anything gave me £4, when I said I had paid £4.50 he snatched another 50p from the till and held it out. I turned and left and as I did so he muttered something under his breath. His whole behaviour was appallingly rude, I can only think he bases his customer service skills on Basil Fawlty from Fawlty Towers, his attitude was shameful. In catering there will always be from time to time food which is not up to scratch for whatever reason, the way to deal with it is to apologise and replace it or refund with a smile - not turn the whole experience into a scene from a 1970’s sitcom. I know the difference between food that is not my personal preference and food that is not of merchantable quality and the pastie was most definitely the latter - totally inedible and not fit to be sold. We will not be visiting the Bashley Manor Tearooms again and will not recommend it to anyone else or take visitors there. We will still visit the Sammy Miller Museum which is first class, We”ll just go elsewhere for refreshment.

But in 2020 when covid hit it changed to paper cups and plates which I understand but they are still using them…. My friends and I bought teas and coffee and asked for some extra hot water. We were shocked to be told very curtly that they charge 50p as often people bring their own teabags and just have free hot water. We had just bought drinks. The assistant was unfriendly and unwelcoming. Also all food and drinks are served in throwaway containers. Surely with their kitchen they could be washing up?

I have visited this tearoom 3 times now and will not be visiting again. Such a shame, when it has the potential, and probably is an absolute goldmine because of it's location in the courtyard of the wonderful Sammy Miller Museum. On previous occasions, my visits were during quite constrained Covid times earlier this year and last and primarily for coffee with friends. I was not overly impressed with the customer service on those occasions but this time was the clincher. I ordered cake and a " very hot latte with no froth please". The lady on the till did not seem as though she had been there long as she subsequently seemed unsure about the card machine, I might be wrong. But she responded, not kindly with, "It comes out the machine as it comes". Other venues have no problem with scraping the froth off and even topping it up with more hot water. So I asked if I could have a small pot or cup of boiling water...my intention being to do the job myself. The response was "We have to charge you 50pence for that". You may or may not think that is unreasonable, I do! My order is finalised, I proffer my card, follow the instructions and the screen goes blank. I ask the lady if it has gone through okay, she didn't know and sought help from the blonde lady who I understand is a co-owner of the business. At the same time I ask if I can have a receipt please. The staff conclusion is that the machine has gone to sleep. The male, who I understand is also a co-owner comes over, resolves the machine issue and I ask again for a receipt please. This causes more stress to the extent that the response from the male is to raise his eyes to the ceiling at me!!!!!!! Had I not had such a lovely visit at the Museum, I would have taken them to task at that time, but I did not, remained calm and chose my moment. The coffee and cake were placed on the table, currently set up on the outside of the building. The blonde female placed them and said a number. I asked if it was my order as I didn't know the number. She brusquely says, "It's on your blue paper". I hadn't seen a blue paper. She points to my folded serviette, where the lady taking my order had placed the paper with the number inside it. I have not experienced such a bad customer service attitude for a very long time. I am amazed they are still in business. The problem is that in all fairness, their cakes are good but ridiculously large portions, one portion is almost enough for four people - which could be cut in half and the price reduced by a third and actually make more money. My cake order was put in a paper bag but most food orders were coming out in POLYSTYRENE boxes, which I remember from last time, and plastic knives and forks, drinks in cardboard cups rather than crockery. In this day and age and being is one of most beautiful areas, you would think they would be more caring towards the environment. The shame of all this, is that they are in a privileged location at the Famous Sammy Miller Museum and yet they do not enhance the venue. Hopefully others who have had a similar experience will start to speak up, and review them like me.

Visited today as a group of 5 adults and 8 children. Some of the food was burnt, it came out in dribs and drabs. One item was forgotten so we asked for the burger and they brought us a cheeseburger. We advised we had ordered a burger no cheese and could it be replaced we were told they would scrape the cheese off and we told them no thanks as we ordered a plain burger. An hour after ordering we asked for the burger and the owner shouted at my friend in a roomful of customers that it needed to cook. Another friend went over to complain and said I thought the customer was always right and the owner was rude and told her that she was twenty years out of date and the customer is not always right. We are locals who have visited this cafe on numerous occasions. My last visit was also poor as I had paid for two cakes and an afternoon tea. The food was served by the owner who was very friendly also making sure that everything was alright. The staff took the order for food they were very friendly and efficient. The food was delicious and of very good quality. The home made cakes looked amazing but we were to full after the lunch to sample them.

With the other half in the Motorbike museum, we had a look at the birds, animals and the three small craft shops. Then it was time for a cup of tea. Very pleasant staff one of whom carried our order to a table outside so we could enjoy any breeze that was going.

We are on the Slimming World weight loss plan and so I messaged to check that jacket potatoes were available today. Suzanne responded quickly and not only reserved a table but put aside 2 potatoes and cut down on the mayonnaise in the tuna mayo especially for us. The food was hot and tasty and the accompanying salad was generous and colourful. Super service. Thanks so much

Really disappointed with this tea room, qued for 10 mins to make my order while it took 3 servers to take the order of the people in front of us, when it was our turn we were told we could not order a breakfast, despite us waiting and it still not being past 11.30 their cut off time.

We visited on a fairly busy Saturday lunch time. Service was very prompt, welcoming and friendly . Plenty of choice on the menu. We opted for the jacket potato and toasted sandwich . Didn't have to wait too long considering how many people were in there . It didn't disappoint when it was served up either . A huge potato served with a very generous salad , the toastie was packed with filling too. Looking forward to our return visit when hopefully we will make room for some of the delicious looking cakes!

Can't believe its two years since I posted a review of the Bashley Manor Tearooms. We have been back on numerous occasions during that time. We popped during the week and were met with a friendly greeting from everyone. We decided on having a brunch each and very nice it was too. All the cakes are very tempting. It gets busy sometimes so don't miss out.

We arrived at the Bashley Manor Tearooms on a hot sunny day. Many of the cafe's customers were sat outside enjoying the sunshine in the attractive courtyard complete with fountain and several shops. We were told that some of the customers sat outside on that particular Tuesday morning were motorcyclists meeting there for their refreshments, before continuing on to their next venue in Poole. We went inside and found that the delightful cafe had been tastefully extended since our last visit. We had lovely cappuccinos and toasted teacakes and the service was very pleasant, efficient and helpful. There is a comprehensive menu of tasty meals and a excellent selection of tempting cakes. On earlier visits, we have usually made a day of it, by going halfway around the Sammy Miller Motorcycle Museum, having a break in the cafe for a meal, then completing our tour of this marvellous Museum. Our children and grandchildren are well catered for and they also enjoy the small playground and looking at the farm animals and birds there near the car park. Something for everyone and a very good day out,

We had a lovely brunch here after visiting the Sammy Miller Motorcycle Museum. The staff were very friendly and chatty, the place was clean and welcoming and the food was filling and tasty. Some of the customers had gone out of their way to pop in for food which is no surprise as it is a cut above many other local eateries.  I can definitely recommend it.

I can honestly say this was one of the best restaurants I’ve eaten in and eaten in so many. The restaurant has a lovely, relaxed but special vibe. The staff are exceptional. The food was out of this world!!! Incredible ingredients, flavours and beautifully presented. We chose a red, an expensive red, but instead of taking our order, we were told it’s tanning and mix might not go with our dish. We were instead recommended a different wine that was so yummy we ordered a second. Super impressed. This is a destination restaurant and we’ll be back again and again

This review is based on my experience on the day and could be different for you, but I doubt it. Superb service from this F&C take away and excellent food to boot to. Called ahead and asked if they cooked Gluten Free on a Saturday - was advised it was cooked Tuesday to Saturday- as one member of our party had an eating disorder. Complied our order and called back a 2nd time and placed the order and was told it would be made immediately. Drove there and collected it after paying. Superb service. FYI- they do not deliver so collection is the only option. F&C was excellent and tasty all found, no complaints and empty plates as was the add on food expected within a fish and chip shop that we purchased. Have to say the Saveloys were superb and very tasty. So to summarise, superb helpful staff, fantastic food, good for people with food allergies, all sorted very quickly Try it you will be back Trudy me on this.

Just a quick shout out to the Cliff house. Usually put a review on every now and then for the Cliff house. Ate here last week and yet again exceptional service, great choice of drinks and good menu. Had a chateaubriand which was cooked perfectly. Price is ok for location. Thoroughly enjoyable

As usual we had a very enjoyable lunch here today. Despite having two vegetarians and one gluten free out of the five of us, nothing was too much trouble. We all had different very tasty roasts. Followed by some good desserts, the toffee roulade was great. The Ship’s Sunday roast is definitely the best around here.
