Overall it was a very good experience. I want to score it 3.5 just because there are so many tweaks it needs to be perfect. The arrival was okay - there is no clear parking area, very dim lights and incorrectly signed areas to the entrance and the grounds need some tidy up and presentation. There is an old steam train but it's hidden behind some bins.. The tube train itself looks great. There are some small steps up to the train so not sure if wheelchair / accessible. Great: service, friendly staff, accommodating, background music, temperature inside the train was warm, the food was excellent, pacing of service, ambience, birthday requests, food presentation, intro from the chef before eating, all dishes are served to everyone at the same time, choices of drinks, seating on the soft seat / private tables, the moquette chairs, no table was left unattended. Not So Great: the toilets are terrible; clean but think camping - spiderwebs, cold, in an out-building, used as a cleaning storage area. The menus are little QR codes on the train walls; an A4 printed menu with a theme would have felt more upmarket. Some of the train is falling apart; loose screws and potential hazards from falling maps above your head! Seating on the large table looks cramped and not easily accessible, and extra seats without the moquette are hard. Floor heaters should be replaced by overhead heaters, a final dish of maybe coffee and words from the chef at the end would be a smoother close to the meal, a microphone for the chef as it was hard to hear at the back. Things to note: the menu is corn-based and dishes a little spicy. There is a raw fish dish, but you can ask for an alternative at booking. I plan to go back, but hope that the Not So Greats are noted for next time.

What a great experience, so we walked through walthamstow about 15minute walk, or you could get an uber. When we arrived it looked like it could be spruced up a little outside. The food was amazing and the Cuban chef talked us through each dish, the cocktails were great and the service was great, drinks a little slow but we just ordered two at once 🤣. Inside love the tables and the lay out and the mood lighting was great. The music was good and got slightly more lively as the evening drew on, we was there about 2 and half hours so you wasn't rushed at all. Fantastic night would do it again when they change the menu and the food was unique. All in all great experience.

Such a lovely concept and amazing food. A blend of various South American foods by talented Chef. Service was friendly and informative. The train itself is brilliant and looked fantastic lit only by candle light. The meal and drinks were reasonably priced and it was a lovely experience. I would definitely do it again.

Now known as supperclub@tube and offering a South American tasting menu with 6 courses this is a great place to eat. The ambience of a former Victoria line tube car may not be to everyone's taste but with so many memories of using the line from the day it started it was a fun experience. The tasting menu was outstanding. Possibly the main, a lamb dish with chocolate, might be improved by serving with more sauce as it was a touch dry. That would be the only criticism. The staff were obviously happy to mark someone's birthday and the whole carriage joined in singing 'Happy Birthday'. The dessert was served on a special plate suitably inscribed. Wine list is limited but there is a passable Argentinian red. Would have like some Colombian coffee to finish things off. This is off the beaten track but worth the effort to seek it out. Now planning a repeat visit.

We booked the £48 Colombian-inspired tasting menu for the last Friday in May. The atmosphere built as the night went on, with the conversation getting louder, the jazz music getting crazier, and the lights getting dimmer, creating a really good buzz. The food itself was a very high quality, especially considering it’s not being cooked in your typical restaurant kitchen. It was certainly worthy of a high-end place. My favourites were the medium-rare beef, and the seafood dish. We had a complimentary glass of Prosecco and then two bottles of very reasonably priced NZ sauvignon blanc. The only downside was some of the service. The waiters weren’t proactive in offering drinks (we had to wave down the carriage for attention). And towards the end of the evening, we very much felt like we were rushed out of the place. The lights were not so subtly made brighter every few minutes. I suggest they should have said at the start or when booking what time they close. However, overall it was a great, unique dining experience. Highly recommended.

Hopefully, this review will be balanced and fair.....I was so excited about this evening, a meal on a tube for an underground enthusiast on her birthday. I think you need a mix of great food, service, ambiance and value..... I know my daughter had emailed ahead and asked for specific seats... when we arrived, we were not even on tube seats, but rickety, incredibly uncomfortable wooden chairs and a table at such an angle, we kept having to rescue the food. We asked (we were pretty much the first people on), if we could sit on a table that was actually a tube seat and the woman was really rude to us. The service was mediocre... the food was slow (i do understand this isn't a commercial kitchen), and the only warm course was cold. We were not asked throughout the meal how it was (I suspect due to our initial request to change seats). The guy in charge was friendly though The food did taste good, but I would expect that for the price. The menu was interesting and we cleared our plates each course A lot of the time, the serving staff looked bored and redundant when they could have been more proactive...(they never once tried to offer additional drinks which would be a lucrative opportunity) When we were offered bread to start, she barked 'just take one' which was quite amusing.... We had too leave as soon as the food had finished as the chairs were so uncomfortable our backs were hurting and legs gone numb (first world problems - i know). The music was so loud too. They did make an effort at the end with a candle which was a nice touch I think this is a sound concept, and. with some finesse of the timings, service and comfort, could score a 5...... I wouldn't go back, The thing that makes me sad is that my 19 year old daughter had spent the £100 on this meal for us and was gutted as she felt she had let me down... which wasn't the case at all

Remember those childhood years when your mum used to feed you saying here comes the choo choo train? Well you can now actually take it one step further and experience eating on an old Victoria tube carriage with Supperclub.tube. Set within the grounds of The Pump House Museum sits an old disused 1968 Victoria Line tube carriage. Upon this carriage you can dine. This was a commute food journey of delight. Siting in the carriage felt really odd eating at a table laid out as if you were in a restaurant but what an experience. As this is a supperclub you do join other guests but this adds to the fun. The food was delicious. But the best thing about this train is there was no delays. I highly recommend travelling down to this tube carriage.

Would recommend that it you want something a little different that you go and see for yourself. Definitely worth a visit. Thank you for amazing food and wonderful venue Only reason not scored as 5 as feel that wine was overpriced so maybe a slight reconsideration of the cost of this would improve the experience But I will be telling friends and family to go if they get the opportunity

I loved the setting and the staff - but sadly the food was average and a HUGE disappointment... our starter was tiny but tasty, main course looked like slop served in a bowl with a sliver of meat (and I mean sliver) and dessert was basic.... I've been to many supper clubs and this one I'm skip.... unless you have a burning desire to eat in a tube carriage.

The meal started really well – we were greeted at the entrance of the underground carriage by the host and a shot fruit juice, then taken to our table. We started with some great local beers and the restaurants own take on a Cosmo cocktail. I was having the fish menu and my boyfriend had the veggie option. The starter arrived – prawn salad for me and roasted tomato salad for my boyfriend, they were both very good. However it all fell down a bit when the mains arrived, the side dishes were spicy rice and cucumber salad - which were perfectly fine, but there could have been some more veggies. For the central part of the main I had seabass which tasted good, but maybe could have been seasoned more. But my boyfriend had one roasted courgette. ONE COURGETTE! I mean there are so many great vegetarian options these days, e.g. Stuffed Mushroom or Pepper, Black Bean Chilli, Tofu Stir-fry etc. I did notice there was more rice on my boyfriend’s plate to try and make up for the solitary mainly water vegetable, but I really don’t think that was good enough. Especially given that the meat eaters options looked much more substantial, it was really disappointing for us both. Obviously the setting is super quirky and interesting and I cannot fault the service at all, both the waiting staff were very attentive and friendly. But for the price of over £40 for dinner, without drinks… I’m not sure it’s worth it, if you are a vegetarian or vegan. I would really love to go back with my friends at some point, so fingers crossed they improve their non-meat selection very soon.

Took our train spotting, transport loving friends to this odd little restaurant in the back of beyond for a 'congrats on your marriage' meal. I'm still not sure what to make of it! Service was good, wine was well chosen and really good quality, food was fine (although would have liked bigger portions) but the place is definitely an acquired taste. The concept is fab and I think it works if that's what you're looking for! It is expensive for what you get but I think you have to look at the package as a whole to see the value. Overall a really nice evening!

Simply unbelievable, £65 for their 'tasting menu', the produce could not have cost more than £5 and this is being liberal. The meal comprised of a pastry case with overtly salty feta moose (inedible) and two tiny cubes of Beetroot, followed by a single asparagus Speer and a stem of broccoli. The main, which was pleasant was two small slides of beef with some wild rice followed by a cake ice cream combo desert. Nothing was more than the sum of its parts, and had this cost £30 would have been just about ok - but no £65 but £110 with drinks, this place is an absolute joke -

Oh dear.... this is a pretty poor experience . A 15.15 email on the same day to say they don't have an alcohol licence , so we pick up some wine on the way. We get there and it's a fairly chaotic affair where the only corkscrew is older than the underground carriage that sits in some museum (think scrap yard ) !!!! Then the food service starts.... heavy bread, sour goats cheese, and beef that may have cut with a decent knife but had no chance of being eaten!!!! Followed by some dessert that was equally appalling ! Staff were nice albeit that no one even asked if there was a problem when courses got cleared away hardly eaten. Best part of the experience was that uber turned up really quick to get us out of there!! Quirky idea - awful delivery..... and at circa £50/head you don't expect to sit on a chair held together with masking tape..and eat very poor food... The 60's underground carriage has a better chance of recovery than the food!!!!

I took my husband to this unusual restaurant for his birthday. He loves the underground so it would be perfect. It was a challenge to find and I would suggest getting a taxi for the last bit from Walthamstow Central to the restaurant. It only cost £5. On arrival it was quite quirky and fun but everywhere was a bit grubby. I understand the need for authenticity but it doesn't need to be dirty. Maybe I hadn't read up on it properly beforehand but I didn't realise it was a set meal so in effect you got what you were given. For £60 each I would have expected a choice. We were on a communal table and the other guests were really fun and chatty which was nice. It was quite awkward to sit down because of bars in the way. I am glad I wasn't wearing a dress and heels or even worse had a disability! I wish I had been told beforehand. The food mostly was quite nice. Very slow service though, main course was quite salty and overall just ok.I won't go again. I didn't hate it but I didn't love it either. I was so excited before we went so it was all a bit disappointing.

We were bought vouchers for a 'fine-dining experience' at Basement Galley and were very excited about it.First impressions: SO cold. It was just freezing in there. The girl next to me ate with her gloves on. It's a cool atmosphere and the tube carriage works well as a restaurant but being January it really needed better heating.Staff: super friendly and accommodating - couldn't fault them or their service.Food: to be honest, disappointing. It was January so the menu was a sort of 'clean eating' vibe. Compared to other fine dining experiences, it just wasn't the same quality. I don't think Basement Galley actually describe it themselves as a fine-dining experience but the websites that sell their vouchers do and that presents a bit of a problem. The courses were a toasted chia seed loaf (nice), 'chicken tea' (literally just broth served in a tea-cup but the heat was welcome!), sea bass fillet (cooked at a low temperature over a long time leaving the inside deliberately uncooked - my husband loved it, I couldn't stomach it at all and the girl next to me asked for hers to be fried so I wasn't the only one) and a chocolate torte (very tasty). I left hungry and have read other reviews saying the same.Extras: Our voucher said we would receive cocktails on arrival (tick) a bottle of wine (tick) a bottle of Prosecco (only a glass was served, not a bottle), a goodie bag (tick) and teas/coffees/petit fours (apparently that was a mistake - no hot drinks were served). My overall summary then is that this is a group of ambitious, creative and genuine people trying something unusual to make a living and with some small-ish changes they could make something brilliant - much better heating, a heartier meal and being very clear with third parties (TimeOut etc) about the extras - I was so cold a cup of tea at the end would've been great!

The restaurant was a bit hard for us out-of-towners to find. The restaurant is located in a 1967 London Underground car on the grounds of a museum. Seating is limited, so early booking is highly recommended. The staff were friendly and efficient, and the chef was personable and is very talented. The meal was outstanding and good value for the quality of the food. I highly recommend the experience for both the food and the overall experience. The only problem I had with the restaurant was the physical layout. Tables are inside the underground car, which is unmodified and thus still has all of the poles for strap-hangers. My wife and I are in our sixties and I am a bit portly, so we had some difficulty maneuvering into our seats. Otherwise, the food, service, and ambiance are to notch.

They left the doors shut and only opened them to bring food / drinks. They also left a number if we needed to order more drinks or if we needed the doors to be opened. The evening stated really badly as when a group of 6 arrived to share our table for 6 they asked people to move and two people did as asked. However later they asked for more movement and when we declined they became rude and abusive. At this point I spoke to Alex and he set up a table for two for us away from the rude guests. The rest of the evening was really good with excellent food and nice people near our changed table. Staff really nice with good service. The venue is an experience especially if you sit at the two large tables with posts in the way which makes movement difficult. Book the two seater tables. The wine although nice was a little expensive at £25 as Majestic sell it for £6.99 in a mixed case of 6. Although it started badly we then enjoyed the evening especially the food and welcome from the staff. Will be happy to return but would book a two seater table.

Our welcome drinks of sloe gin soon followed and we ordered a bottle of house white.Once everyone was seated, the owner came out and told us about his inspiration and his menu. A while after, the food started to arrive. All the dishes were very good, and the portion sizes were just right for a 4 course meal. Our favourite dish was the Sweet Potato & Sage, Onion, Cheddar, Squash & Chicken Jus. There were a few downsides to the experience. The meal does not start until everyone arrives and is sat (about an hour after we arrived), there are no nibbles/bread to get you through while you wait for everyone to arrive, service always appeared to start at one end of the carriage (so unfortunately we were always the last ones to be served) and there is no option of coffee/drinks to finish your meal. We understand that the facilities are limited.Don't get me wrong, it is an experience to eat in an old tube carriage. Once the excitement of the venue had worn off, you were left with the reality. Even in August it was cold, as the doors need to be open for the incredibly hard working and very friendly staff to bring in all the plates. At 2 plates at a time for approx 40 people, it takes a while for everybody to get fed. As to the food, what there as of it was lovely, but you do come away thinking where's the nearest chip shop. The main thing about this supper club is the setting right? a London tube! Former Victoria line carriage to be precise. There are social tables of 6 and intimate booths for 2 as well. I was in a party of 4 and we sat down with another couple, also a nice way to socialise. We ended up there after a Groupon offer and got on top of that a bottle of the house white (Albariño, excellent choice!) £5 glass or £20 bottle. There are cocktails too and they received us with a glass of bubbly. The chef himself came to talk to us and introduce his project, how everything started etc, nice personal touch; he also came back to say thank you at the end. Now, the food: 4 dishes and all very good. Nice filling dinner all together but does not leave you bloated or uncomfortably full. Really nice flavours, all ingredients very fresh and nicely cooked. After looking forward to this for months, we ventured out on Friday to Walthamstow (a fair stomp out) to arrive to a very closed looking museum. We initially thought we must be in the wrong place but gradually more and more people arrived all there for the supper club. After waiting for 30 minutes after the start time, and getting through to only the voicemail of the underground supper club the care taker of the museum came out to tell us the supper club was cancelled due to power failure. We then all tried to call Alex again, to no avail and all 13 of us left hungry and disappointed! Alex did then ring us back and explained he had sent an email - I had never received an email to say it was cancelled and the fact 13 other people turned up suggests that no one ever received this supposed email.Alex I think it's really really really poor customer service. I appreciate that you couldn't help the power failure but I don't understand how no one received an email! You also should have been there at the door to apologise profusely and explain anyway (as you were unaware no one had received the email - but this could have happened if the email had been sent some people may not have checked their email in time)I would never book with the underground supper club again and spent time and money getting out to Walthamstow to be let down and disappointed! If you want to run your business like this, I wish you luck as you will not last long. Please remember you depend on your customers and you should have dealt with this very differently and been there to explain and apologise if you really cared. It really appears you don't.Thank you for refunding us so quickly when we requested it though, I will give you credit for that.

The welcome prosecco, food and wine were really delicious and the service from Charlie and Alex was very attentive and friendly. However, I agree with previous suggestions that more bread would be appreciated because the food is all pretty light. Charlie had done a brilliant job of putting up the decorations and confetti I had posted in advance - so lovely for it to all be set up when we arrived. Previous reviews mention it was cold but we did not find it cold at all (early April) and were able to play our own music through our Ipod. Everyone loved the unique experience and the private hire (fourteen people) made for a really special event. I booked this for mine and my partners 2 year anniversary. We paid £62.50 each for this experience, a private "booth",. We arrived by taxi who had happened to previously have dropped someone there so he knew exactly where it was. We arrived to a complimentary Old fashioned cocktail as woodford reserve were sponsoring them, they were really nice and made really well. Within the price we paid we had a bottle of red wine which was a nice and and easy drink. It was 4 courses, the first vegetarian, second had smoked salmon, third course was rabbit leg and dessert a mascarpone ice cream. In all honesty, the food was all really delicious, and the flavours really complimented each other well. Alex came into the carriage for a bit of an introduction - he mentioned that previously he had used a creamier base for dishes but now things were a bit lighter. Feedback for the meal would actually be to meet somewhere in the middle; we read the previous trip advisor reviews especially about the fact a lady came away hungry - i mentioned this to my partner earlier in the day and he had baked a mini camembert and we had some nibbles at home before we left. I have a pretty small appetite, and i finished off all 4 courses in the tube. My partner finished his meal off and i felt terrible for him as we were still hungry (we went onwards to a housewarming and ended up eating cocktail sausages that were there to finish off!). Alex, really delicious food, you are obviously great at what you do, but i would really suggest some bread to begin and on the side and making the dishes back with a creamier base, and some carbs with the main - the tiny piece of brioche didnt really make much difference. I saw some previous pictures on here with meat on base of creamy mash and things like that may make for a more filling meal? The tube is really quite cold, we were there last night (March 19th) and i had a blanket on my legs and a blanket around my arms. I do appreciate that the ticketshad advised us to wrap up warm, but there were two blower heaters on one side of the tube; it could be easy to get in some more heaters for the other side of the tube aswell; for £62.50 each, and wrapped completely in two blankets, just didnt sit well with me.For some reason we had thought the tube would be underground! In a derelict area of the old tube lines but FYI its not! Its in an old transport museum and it sits above the card - was lovely nonetheless!Overall it was a lovely different experience, but there are a couple of tweaks which could give it that extra star.

The idea is novel but the execution is somewhat disappointing. We booked a table for 6 at £45 per head, so we had every right to expect to be kept warm (at a minimum). It was a very cold evening, so we were amazed there were not enough portable heaters for every table. They did however offer blankets (which ran out). The net result was a bitterly disappointing evening. Had we not paid in advance, we would certainly have not paid at all.The food it self was very amateur. I'm no fine dining expert but I know over-cooked meet and undercooked veg when I taste it. The chef's vary each night so I guess it was just our bad luck we had a poor one. The pudding was almost laughable. A plain sponge cake with a sorbet (in the freezing cold). There are 7 year olds who can make a better dessert. To add some balance, I must say the staff were all very friendly and did their best. My advice is, if you go, do make sure you go in the summer as there are no provisions for the cold. Its is like eating outside....Don't go for the food. It is very, very poor. But the occasion is something different and makes for good pictures. Its a shame as this could be so good..

As a Christmas present for my sister and her partner we took them to eat at the Basement Gallery. We wanted to take them somewhere a little different as they are well versed in London restaurants - the Basement Gallery fitted the bill perfectly. We found the location pretty easily although it is a little hidden. We were the first to arrive and made to feel very welcome. The carriage was a little cold to begin with (it is February after all!) but soon warmed up. I would advise heeding the advice on our tickets to dress appropriately and glad I had! The food was amazing, I love trying things that I almost certainly would never have ordered off a menu (choosing instead the safe option) and this was a great opportunity to do just that. The additional guest on our table certainly added to the experience and we all got photos in the drivers seat to boot! I would certainly recommend the experience to others.

Fantastic night out eating dinner on a disused tube carriage in the yard at The Pump Museum in Walthamstow. Organised by Basement Galley Underground Supper Club... what a wonderful idea! Of course I couldn't resist having a look around the driver's carriage! Nice food (although, I will say... I left feeling just a smidge peckish, as the portions were on the smallish side) but it was all VERY tasty. .. and the staff were lovely, and really friendly. I think... if we'd had some bread and butter on the table at the beginning of the meal and maybe some cheese and crackers after the main course then we would have felt comfortable, and not walked away feeling peckish. It was a four course meal... I took photos of three of the courses... but, I was so hungry by the time the second course arrived (a small plate of salad with a few pieces of yummy Chorizo) that I ate it all and forgot to take a photo of it! I took photos so I could post them on TripAdvisor but for some reason I can't post them up. I've not had this problem before. I've tried uploading them eight times... I'll just have to post the review without the photos... sorry! You can view images of the place on Basement Galley's website.http://www.basementgalley.comPay a little extra for your own 'table for two' or go with a group and have a longer table. Our multi-course tasting menu in a VIP booth (table for two) cost £55 each. Otherwise, it's £40 per person.Bring a jumper if you book to go during the colder months (I'd recommend going late spring/summer) they do provide blankets and they have heaters but I should imagine it can get rather chilly in the carriage. I was on the cusp of feeling chilly and it wasn't a particularly cold evening at the beginning of March. The entrance is via large double fronted gates (we missed it... as did quite a few other people) but by the time we'd walked past it for the third time... there was a little lantern with a candle in it... to signify the entrance. Which would have been helpful if they'd put it out by the gates by 6:30pm... so we could have spotted it the first time around. The only reason I'm giving this review a very good instead of an excellent is purely because I came away hungry, and that hasn't happened to me in a very long time. I wasn't starving hungry... just hungry enough to be thinking about it. The quality of the food was very good though. We had a fantastic time, and I'd definitely go again! The team worked so hard.I would highly recommend it for a fun night out!

Saw Alex the chef appear on TV and so eagerly looked up his restaurant. The former Victoria line tube carriage seats 24 diners in booths for couples and a table of 14. My girlfriend & I were sat on the big table and had a great time eating and socialising with the other guests. The food was really, really good (Alex was after all a Masterchef the Professionals contestant). The seasonal menu is pre-set so there is no choice although the chef will cater for dietary requirements if you let the kitchen know in advance. Drinks were charged extra but are reasonably priced. If you are looking for somewhere to dine that is quirky, tasty and a bit different then book a table here. The closest overground station is St James Street and from there it is a ten minute walk although there is a bus stop outside the venue.

Clean, spacious, airy and a welcome respite from the hordes of tourists just outside. Basic, but in context a real treasure given the location.
