Just got a take away from here the service was great and all the food was out standing fresh and hot and plenty of it will mostly definitely be going back.so thank very much for the lovely food

Excellent food been to many restaurants and have to say we won’t go anywhere else now this has been far superior in taste and quality portion size is fantastic and every single dish did not disappoint, we came on a very busy evening so service was a tad slower than expected but we had a fantastic time atmosphere was buzzing music was great exactly what we are looking for in a punjabi restaurant thank you to all the waiters they where excellent 👌🏽

Booked here for Valentine’s Day months ago. They tried to tell us we didn’t have a table and put us on a pub table before we asked to move to the restaurant where someone else clearly had our valentines table. Service was non existent; we constantly had to chase the waiters to even order drinks. The restaurant is run by teenagers who don’t know the menu or listen to what we are saying. We kept repeating ourselves, over and over and at the end we were still disputing the bill which was wasn’t split like we asked 3 times. We were there for 2.5 hours and had only eaten a stater. There was no rush from anyone, but the chefs were working extremely hard to keep up with the orders. Our nignt was ruined, we ended up leaving 3 hours in and took our food home as we simply couldn’t wait any more and had to get home. There was no apology or even any concern that we were unhappy. It was all a joke to the waiters. Won’t go there ever again. Oh yeah; and they water ALL their drinks down but charge plenty for them!!! No different from another place; nothing special and in fact we feel robbed of our £130 we spent. We’ve been to many curry houses but this service and lack of pure ignorance on the bar staffs faces. They did not care lol. Even when I said it’s terrible and I wouldn’t come back, asking where our food was etc there was no apology or even a lick of empathy. I was almost tempted to walk out I was so angry. I understand there are busy periods but at least give us a heads up we’re going to be there for 3 hours before we eat. He just kepts saying “two minutes it’s coming” every time we asked!!!! Drinks a rip off too, disappointed entirely and feel sorry for the chefs who actually make lovely lovely food but are worked like horses!! They need more recognition and maybe more kitchen staff…. Two for he entire restaurant!?

.......I had a Lamb Byriany. The whole dish was mushy, very spicy which I don't usually mind but it was truly not the nicest of dishes. We also ordered Chicken Tikka Masala again this was very spicy and not was as expected. Another chicken dish we ordered had very little chicken but plenty of sauce. 2 x chicken nuggets and chips for our two munchkins was very dry and the nuggets were just awful. We spent just over £90 and to say we were very disappointed is an understatement. Never, ever again would we order from this establishment. A complete and utter waste of our hard earned wages!

The Bas Bar is by far our favourite place to get Indian food. It has a relaxed sports bar vibe and the food is always fresh and tasty. We have dined as a couple for date night, with friends and for celebrations! If you love authentic Indian food, give this place a visit xx

Very disappointed with the food we received last night for collection. Chicken madras hard and very tomatoey Lamb curry hard Noodles okish. I’ve eaten here before and took food home and was tasty

Amazing food. Sometimes the service can be a little slow and it can get noisy, but that’s just the type of venue it is being a bar as well. However, we always visit here and take other family members as well as the food is amazing!

It's an old pub converted into a "Bar / Restaurant" When you walk in there is a wall of TVs and a bar, we were greeted and shown to one of the booth tables surrounding what looked like a dance floor. The table has its own small TV that was off. Interesting menu, we picked 2 starters and 2 mains we had not seen on menus anywhere else. All food and service was great. The Lithuanian waiter was especially good, with good knowledge on what the dishes were. The kitchen is open to the restaurant so you can see your food being prepared. Will definitely be back !

On first expectations when arriving, we weren’t expecting what the food actually had to offer, we were so happy with the food we had and will recommend to everyone and anyone

Food is good, slightly smaller portions than other indian restaurants, but overall taste wise was delicious, spacious area with outdoor seating for drinks and a smoking area, only one thing lets it down is the lack of service, nobody asking to take our order, was waiting for ages for waiters nobody asked if we wanted more drinks, had to keep going to the bar to ask, they could have upsold a lot with us but they missed this opportunity unfortunately

We ordered from deliveroo. The food was very oily and bland - it didn't taste authentic (coming from an indian background). The same curry base was used for all the different types of curries. The prawn wasn't fresh and still stuck together and frozen! After finishing the food, the flavours were is forgettable, i can safely say that we wouldn't be ordering again. After eating it all, no one had a nice feeling in their stomach.

Very nice food, super tasty chicken tika mandala and lentil and the customer service totally amazing and helpfull. For sure we gona back.

This is the only place after having moved from London to Kent, that creates authentic, traditional Punjabi dishes.The food is out of this world.....thoroughly recommend this place.Nothing is too much trouble. Even my mum is well impressed with the Bas bars food.It’s like eating food from my mums kitchen.Give it a go , I promise you will not be disappointed. Have been here multiple times and each time the food and the service is exceptional. The interior work should really be appreciated. The staff are very serious about their job and always give a great service. All the courses of the food tastes and have been cooked very well.I am so surprised by any bad reviews on this place.

Don’t waste your time or money ordering from this place! The man who takes orders on the phone is simply clueless and this is the second time they have messed up my order! The taste of the food has changed so I won’t be ordering again, shame really as I was a regular!

Eat in or take out its allways good and often amazing. I cant put my finger on exactly what it is that they do but they have a stand out style that leaves them ahead of the pack. This is not generic indian food. It has complex tastes, visible veg and meat not just an coloured almond powder like other indian restaurants. We are now regulars and introducing more people to this fast becoming legend of an establishment.

Monday night mini celebration with 19yo daughter. Bas Bar came highly recommended by a vegetarian, frequent visitor. A backstreet local in a prev life, morphed into a ‘sports bar’, judging by the number of screens showing a game of football (to the 10 or so non-diners) it clearly hasn’t made the full transition to a restaurant. A dance floor edged with booth tables for 4 evidence of a party & dance dining venue when the occasion calls for it. Suitably observing covid rules for the diners (I couldn’t see the bar service) no complaints. Service was fine - friendly, helpful, polite - up until we’d finished and then we were left for maybe 20mins so we went to the bar to pay. The menu is very limited (although it seems you could ask for familiar dishes! Go figure.) and oddly presented - the language barrier/mask/ambient noise made it a little difficult to hear/understand the server but we were happy with the options. Poppadom & veg somosa starters were fine (difficult to spoil) and the lamb passanda & achari lamb were nicely spiced (I asked for the achari to be spicier than regular which was tweaked just right - passanda was a touch too spicier as a regular but all got eaten so no complaint), veg was lovely (waiter seemed to think it was bland but then it was fine with a spicy main so perfect for me). The meal was lovely but not enough to warrant the 20min drive. The noise was very distracting - with only 20 diners it was painful, not helped by so many hard surfaces, so many screens and a group of 8 clearly exuberant diners and a family of 5 excited kids so really marred my night. I’m sure for parties and late revelry it would be great but difficult to revert to sedate dining for the other 5 days of the week. Prices were supposed to be ‘cheap’ but at a pre-discount price £50 (20% discount applied for some reason - covid, maybe?) which was two starters, two mains, two veg sides, one rice and two J2O (two £3.50 Fosters had to be paid separately - disappointingly no Cobra) didn’t seem ‘cheap’ to me and I’m not convinced was great value for the disappointing venue style. In the tiny Rochester backstreets parking is a nightmare - we were lucky with our short walk - so all in all I’d not rush back. Not being totally dismissive - food was lovely, staff were friendly - but just not my venue for the occasion. I was leaning toward 2* but that seemed mean as it was subjective - the Bas is what it is, unpretentious and needing drinkers and diners so I’ll let you make your own mind up.

Had a a fantastic evening here with friends, Staff were very welcoming & Our waiter Ray was very helpful & always made sure everything was ok with our food & was very observant when we needed more drinks, Menu had plenty of variety but did offer alternative dishes that wasn’t on the menu such as Dhansak,Overall very impressed with the flavours of food & would highly recommend.

Kachhi Lamb Briyani last night, the lamb was playing hide and seek in the rice, the meal was tasty enough but on the whole over priced for what I received, food arrived in a reasonable time as I was the only one eating, after arrival I was asked if I wanted a hot plate for my food, why put the food on a cold plate to start with?, perhaps I should have oredered a take out and hoped for a free pint while I waited with 10% off for collecting! All the COVID markings and proceedures were there however, disturbing to see a table of six males in the bar eating and drinking, one of them being the bar man who asked for my name and phone number for track and trace, thank you. Never to return and wished I had gone the extra 200 yards to KFC for half the price in a warm box, my reccomendation is don't waste your money here.

Absolutely healthy and delicious and affordable I have never tasted so many flavours in a meal so clean prepared in Open kitchen was delightful experience see Naan cooked of open fire all around our collection was lovely and the staff Great I travel 20 min to the venue just for food last 2 days in fridge large portions too A1 EXCELLENT THE REAL INDIAN BAS BAR not like any other Tastes

What a meal !! Far and away the best takeaway in the area by miles. Authentic tastes , not swimming in oil like so many other takeaways serve up. Thank you Bas Bar for a fabulous lockdown treat.

We love the food here , curries are a bit expensive, but you can bring your own alcohol, so that keeps the cost down

Visited this little gem located in Strood with my family. It was one of the best place to have indian curry I have had for long time. Starter chili paneer was one of my favorite. Bread were all outstanding especially roomali roti which was great. Overall it's was outstanding experience and great family time spent. Biryani is also must try. We will definitely visit Bas Bar again and also recommend our friends as well. Give a try you won't regret going there.

Been here a few times to eat and drink, came here again with a fresh new menu and the food was amazing. Great friendly team, would definitely recommend for proper desi food.

Went here for lunch today and the manager suggested we try the new menu! We had chicken momos, chicken lollipops, masala chips, gobi parathas, chicken tikka, samosa chat and gobi parathas - everything was piping hot and flavoursome and we will definitely be going back there soon! Please the pics attached - go and treat yourself!

Ordered a takeaway from here on Saturday and was very impressed with the quality of the food that was delivered. I would highly recommend the Bas Bar based on this experience.

As far as I can tell it all tasted authentic. Never seen an Asian person in any "Indian" restaurant I've ever been to (other than staff!) and I'm going back to the 70s here! It was great, lots of Punjabi people eating, cooking, enjoying. Superb curried goat. Very friendly, helpful staff. Dining area is a bit austere but the tucker makes up for it. Give it a go !

Having tried this the beginning of the year and not expecting too much, we were presently surprised. Lets just say we are now weekly visitors. Amazing authentic food, wide range on the menu and always huge portions sizes. It's hard to find an Indian that are consistent with every meal but everytime they pull it off!! Best punjab food in Kent. Even celebrated my 21st birthday there last week and all 21 of us enjoyed our meal thoroughly. Thank you! We'll see you soon.

Visited with friends on a night out. Lovely place with lovely staff. The food was nice but have to say every dish was spicy. Even the ones that aren’t usually spice elsewhere. I don’t mind spice so it was ok for me. But if you are a person that would normally order a butter chicken. Or a tikka massalla expect it to be spicy. Big portions though which is good and any food we didn’t finish they kindly put in to take away trays for us to take home.

If you prefer a romantic Indian restaurant with mauve lighting that serves 2 small pieces of chicken in a fluorescent yellow sauce with the consistency and taste of dish water then you’ll probably not enjoy it here. However if you like friendly service, full flavoured Punjabi cuisine and large portions that you would normally have to travel to the East End of London to equal then you might want to give this place a go. Knocked my socks off! Mixed grill platter, chicken curry, sag aloo outstanding. Hell no it all was to be honest. Would I go back? Er yes. Everyday if I had a choice.

Absolutely disgusted at this place, I won a voucher at King's School for a charity raffle for Bas Bar late last year. The voucher has no use by date and was forgotten about but then wanted to book a table as it was remembered and thought it wouldn't be a problem. We rung the restaurant to book a table and the manager (Hejot and Gary) refused our voucher as they said it is under new management although the restaurant name has not changed and we would not know that, they asked us to get some more information and they would also enquire, had to do loads of chasing to prove that we won the voucher @ king's school, called back and then they out right said no will not honour this ! Which was a complete waste on my time. Very very rude staff that couldn't give a simple answer.

Very nice authentic Punjabi food which is very hard to find. The restaurant is located in a pub however is separated so is perfect for family's. Staff are by far the best with very prompt service. Food is delicious and hands down the best in the surrounding area. Would recommend this place highly and will be here soon.

I recently that we stop off here after a morning business appointment and gals I did. The meat tandoori platter here is excellent, we had a few extra curry dishes, and we used the platter and lager deal. The waitress/bar maid who served us was an excellent host. We had a great meal and my colleagues want to return.

If only the food was as good as the decor. Tight on portion size and expensive. Always empty no atmosphere.

Been there twice this week. Amazing food. I’m vegetarian and the dish was cooked to perfection. Great staff and good atmosphere. Being from the midlands we have plenty of places like this, however this was the best I’ve visited. Highly recommend visiting this place.

First time ordering take away from here and we wasn't disappointed. Turned up earlier than expected and was very hot. The chicken was tender and both our curries and rice were packed full of flavour! You could tell the chicken had been marinated rather than just cooked in a sauce. The only criticism I have is the prawn puri was a little too spicy, with too many green peppers. But I know for next time. Thank you very much. Will be ordering from here again

Got recommended this place and was not disappointed!!! The food was fresh and packed full of flavour, you can even watch the chefs prep and cook it! The staff were friendly, welcoming and couldn't do enough for you! I'll definitely be returning and bringing more friends.

Tried the new lunch buffet, authentic Punjabi Cuisene. Good food, good beer and sports! My wife chose from the menu and had a mixed grill. Enormous portion!

Yesterday we order food Specially chilli Panner not testy and not look like even chilli panner i think chef need to try some other restaurant chilli panner so make better & naan bread was not properly cook and very thick.

We have just eaten a wonderful lunch here.. the food was very authentic, beautiful flavours..served piping hot and plenty per portion..

Arranged to meet a lot of our work mates here after finishing up for Christmas; good venue, good service and great food !

This restaurant is under new management so we thought we give it a try! For starters my husband and I shared fish pakoras and a mixed grill - both were superb and full of flavour!! For mains we had a goat curry and king prawn curry with garlic chilli naan and mushroom rice - absolutely delicious, we were planning our next visit on our way home!

I recently visited on a recommendation from a friend and was certainly not dissapointed with the food I ate. My starter of a prawn puri was very tasty indeed (a very generous portion for a starter!) and the main meal, a lamb balti was really delicious. It was a shame that at the start of the meal we had to source our own menus from another table before the waiter noticed we were just sitting there for 5 minutes. We were not offered any poppadoms and had to ask for these. One of the waiting staff also started clearing the table whilst my friend was still eating, which I kindly asked him to stop doing. These are only minor things which I'm sure can be easily addressed, but they did impact on our eating experience. As other reviewers have mentioned, the main issue is the overall dining atmosphere, as there is a rather loud sports bar next door, which did get rather rowdy. The dining setup is certainly very different to other Indian eateries I've been too and I'm not sure this really works in it's current form. The food is worth trying, but I personally wouldn't choose to come here for a quiet meal with the family! I will visit again, perhaps in a couple of years as I know it's still relatively new and I'm sure things will improve.

If you're out for a few drinks then a curry this might be a suitable venue, but if you're just out for a meal I'd choose somewhere different. The venue is a pub. Even the part where you eat looks like a pub. TV's everywhere showing music videos, noise from the bar and doormen at the front door.

Muy mala experiencia, no volveré, el servicio era muy brusco y grosero chocante, al servir la comida equivocada que dan a mi compañero y a él era el curry, pero este pidió estaba equivocado, gerente de grosero. Me llamaron de los pedidos, así que conseguimos una ronda en 2 minutos más tarde, me dijeron que dejar allí cierre cerrando. Pero una cosa positiva de mí tenía buena compañía.

Overpriced and took over an hour and a half when we live 3 miles away from it, order 12 hours in advance or you might die of starvation by the time it arrives.

Honest rough and tough Punjabi cuisine. Loud brash setting, but a good mixed grill with the hottest chilli naans in towns. Daal, chicken and lamb all cooked well. Just don't sit near one of the speakers, and shout to be heard. Recommended lad joint, pass on the family.

On entering Bar Bas one is confronted with the unassailable collision of the most exotic scents..... and one is left with little doubt that your taste buds are about to be given a treat beyond comparison, of food, service and the generous warmth of the host and proprietor, Jas. The journey from London was worth every moment in traffic and the Journey back is only filled with the excitement of coming back to Rochester's finest gem.

Tried for the first time last night and it was very yummy. The chicken was very tender and fresh and lovely salad. Our tikka masala, Balti and mushroom rice was very nice. Would definitely order from them again.

Where do I start?... Other than saying It was a lovely experience!! (i'm spoil't coming from the east end of London / Essex area.. in terms of quality of Indian restaurants)... How wrong was I !!Ok, so here is my review:,..The secret success to the Bas Bar, is clearly through a genuine care for true customer service, along with it's quality cooking.The Bas Bar, is not really a bar, it's more of an "Indian gastro pub" tucked away just off Cliffe street (the main road, so to speak). It has a modern refreshing feel. So not your usual dark decorated curry house.PARKING: A residential street, but I found parking available, and less then a minutes walk from the restaurant. Parking spaces are available on site, for those that can grab one (it's very popular.. so get in early).Exterior: Not to much say to say than other than has been reported above about the parking. The one thing I will say though is, that I like the the covered decking area that they have created for people to sit outside and enjoy a drink or a cigarette without getting wet during the rain.INTERIOR: ( BAR): Good mix of ales beers and all the usual spirits, plenty of seating (including outside for you smokers) then have large TV screens, a pool table, darts boardINTERIOR (RESTAURANT): It is divided between the bar by a (curtain & door) giving a different feel to the experience. so perfect for private events, be it family functions or lads night a lads night out. (They wont generally mix and match though).. so if you wanted to hire out the restaurant, rest assured, the pub people wont be invading your booked room.However, when the restaurant isn't pre-booked, you can have a booth (sits 4 comfortably) which comes with it's only TV, so you can watch the football or any other sports whilst having a beer & a curry etc.FOOD: Wow... Honestly it was awesome! Fresh ingredients & perfectly cooked from mild to spicy!, I tried everything from the mixed indian grill, to the Korma to the Chicken Jalfrezzi.More so, it was cooked by a chef that has a true passion for authentic Indian cooking, and he has done this really well,Service: In the bar, they were jovial but I didn't feel pressured to order the pre- dinner drinks, in the restaurant, the waiter was knowledgeable about the wine list, and what particular wine would work best with which dish. I should also mention that the waiter was attentive (but not over bearing).SUMMARY:Go there, it works for everyone, blokes that want a pint and watch some sports on their own or with mates,... or couples / families that want some decent Indian Cusine in a relaxed inviroment.God willing, I will be back as soon as possible.

Went here with my partner and his son after discovering our local curry houses were both unexpectedly closed. Very welcoming and happy to make recommendations. We ordered the mixed grill for 2 special with 2 pints of beer and a lamb Balti, 2 rices and 2 naan breads. Plenty for the three of us without loads of waste. Bill for three was around £43 including a third beer. Service was friendly and professional and the food was excellent. Would have been five stars but no vegetable side dishes - only full sized portions. Would happily go back.

If you like the thought of drinking beer, watching football and having a curry at the same time, then this is the place to go – probably not so good for a date night. Can get a bit rowdy on a Saturday night, but it is a sports bar first and foremost rather than an out and out curry house.On the couple of occasions we have been there, the food has been good with the mixed grill being the highlight, but the curries and sides are not bad either. The booths have their own individual TVs but they don’t appear to show the Sports Channels, but with a couple of big screens showing the action that is not really an issue.Overall good value for money if this is the kind of place you are looking for.

We have been coming to Bas Bar since it opened and the food is consistently excellent. We are very fussy about our Indian food as with many restaurants we are left feeling like we could have cooked it better at home but not here. This food is authentic and fresh. It's spoilt us for any other Indian restaurant - I just wouldn't go anywhere else! Thoroughly recommend it!

Poor selection of food & Poor service on our first visit, however staff did aploglise as they were down on one chef. How they didn't cater for lamb tikka masala, I don't know. This place is OK for a starter and beer, not for a proper sit down curry house. Food was ok when it arrived.

Had a mixed grill for three, only gave us two lamb chops on it, taste was nice though, grey goose vodka taste wasn't quite right. We had butter chicken and a lamb I'd give them both a 6/10. I will be going back just to give them another chance.

Been here a few times, the food is Good and the bar has a nice atmosphere, always seems to be buzzing.

Tried the Bas Bar back in July last year disappointed and unsure why its taken this long to make a trip back, The Tandoori mixed grill was again very good value at twenty pounds for the grill and two pints, although on this occasion there was too much masala sprinkled over the grill, which did not deflect away from the taste too much. The grill well portioned for two of us accompanied by nan's which were a little on under cooked side. Service was again excellent. Overall a good experience and value well worth a visit!!

Ordered a variety of meals to take away.The chicken tikka was very synthetic looking bright red with a minute amount of meat in all 3 portions ordered. The lamb rogan Josh was blood red (coloured food again ). The lamb was obviously not freshly made, tasteless and old.The lamb balti looked grey and lifeless with a few slices of raw peppers added in to bring it to life, but unsuccessfully. The lamb was old reheated tasteless meat.The chilli naan bread was just rubbery and did not even taste fresh. The place looked pretty impressive when I went to collect the food, but the food was not even worth the trip, let alone the money.What happened to simple freshly prepared food? Why do people put up with this crap? I know I will not be back there again.

The team lap this place up, never wait long for your meals eaten here with the family too and they love it loads of TVs for sport, friendly staffHighly recommended

As the tin says the fish starters and paneer starters were out of this world. The rest of the starters were also excellent. The mains wernt up to scratch and were boderline bland. The service was very slow, nobody would come over to check if we were ok. We visited as a mixed group 4 guys 2 girls, served by 3 waitresses and not one of then acknowledged them being there at all.The bar itself is very trendy, the wing challenge seems like a great idea, love how some of the tables in the resturant have thier own tvs.Personally i would go back but only with guys as it seems to be built for that market!

As you enter the premises you are greeted by a large bar area, that is styled as a sports bar, with 6 or so TV's above the bar, pool table, table football and ample seating at either the bar or the tables within the bar area. Really does look modern and good (if that's your thing).Now the food, Wow great authentic food, great prices and good sizes. What's more on my visit, several Indian families were eating there (if it good for them its good for me) now that's a recommendation on its own.The staff are all good and accommodate your requests with ease (thanks to Mary and Jazz),Will be visiting more.....

Although very local to me, I have only recently got round to visiting...I now plan on retiring here.Perfect place to relax with a cold beer, eat some great Indian food (which you can see being cooked in the open kitchen) and watch football on one of the 137 TV screens. The only problem is you drink, you get hungry, you get thirsty, you get hungry again and before you know it you need elasticated waist jeans. The food was surprisingly good as I assumed (wrongly) that this was just a bar that served a bit of Indian food but it is actually a very good restaurant. I've now tried quite a few things on the menu and all have been to a very very good standard. There is a good offer (mixed grill for 2 and 2 pints for £20) which I'd highly recommend.In case the above wasn't enough to persuade you to go - the staff are great and there is a pool table (£1 a play)!

First impression as you enter the Bar/restaurant is surely this is an American diner more than an Indian restaurant with its sports painted walls, which is a novel idea. There are booths as well as tables. The booths have their own DVD players which may be useful if you have children that need entertainment etc. My only problem with the bench style seating is in order to reach the table to eat it needs to be pulled in towards you which is fine until you need to get out as the arms on each end of the bench prevent you so you have to move the table again which disturbs your other guests. If you are you are also vertically challenged (ie short) you may find your feet do not reach the floor whilst sitting on these benches which after time can become uncomfortable. Staff were friendly and efficient, nothing was too much trouble.Food is excellent, extremely flavoursome and cooked to order. Portion sizes are huge starters can easily be shared between 2/3 people. The menu is extensive, if there is a particular dish not on the menu the chef I’m advised is more than welcome to cook it for you. The food is extremely tasty with the flavours and warmth of the spices and herbs coming through more than intense heat you normally get in an Indian meal. If you do like a lot of heat then again this would not be a problem as the chef is very accommodating. Overall this is a fun, friendly bar/restaurant with excellent food, good hosting and great value for money.
