Fab Fish and Chips, friendly efficient service.

Starting using this after getting fed up of other chippies in the area charging for large fish and chips and getting what looks like a kids meal for nearly a tenner!! Always plenty of chips and fish fresh and large. Staff friendly

Fish dry and the batter was like a wet tea towel... chips OK but not worth the money

Disappointed yet again tonight altho the food is lovely they got my order wrong again I asked for a small mixed kebab with chips got the kebab but no chips this is not the first time this has happened

I am a regular have just ordered from here a large cheesy chips and extra bits Everything was fine until I opened my cheesy chips which I asked for large and paid for extra cheese, opened it, hand full of chips with a sprinkle of cheese lady server 👎 very disappointed as usually it'd brilliant!

If you want chips with a freshly made naan... Go here. Their naan is better than any I have ever had any where else.

After a few people raving about how good this place is, I finally made the journey all the from Newbold and boy it was worth it. The mixed kebab in naan was awesome and the chips were incredible. Friendly service was superb, well worth the journey. We'll definitely be going again soon. Thanks everyone!

The Kebab that I ordered was fat and full In oil

I have ate the chips here twice and both times highly disappointed. They are always super soggy and really pale. Not soft to eat more hard. The oil is not hot enough and they are been taken out to early. Minimum spend is £10 on card which is stupid!!!!

I ordered food tonight and it was fabulous, hubby said the pie and chips tasted wonderful and I had a chicken kebab nan that had a large amount of salad on, just as requested. The portion sizes were very substantial. Thank you so much.

This chippy had used to be really good, very friendly and good food. Tonight the customer service was poor and the fish and chips were disgusting. Poor customer service can be tolerated if the food is good but when the food is bad aswell then I would neither recommend them or use them again.

We ordered 2 cod and 1 large chips to share, there was enough chips to feed a family of five. Fish was gorgeous with a lovely crispy batter. Proper chips as well. Service was friendly and quick. Well worth a visit.

Great quality, great price, great service. I used to go to Chris' down the road but now I'm heading here every time. The fact that the kebab prep station is directly in front of the window says a lot about their standards - very high.

The best fish, chips and kebabs within miles! Great food at great prices. How do they do it?

I ring up for a collection as I want the order to be ready when I get there. , as I arrived there 15 minutes later , they didn’t even make my order I have to then wait in the que for ten minutes. Then order my food like everyone else as they haven’t even prepped my food? Second time this has happened. Why have a phone service to pre order food for collection if your not going to do it. Missed my bus to Leicester now got to wait another 40 minutes for the next. Great

The BEST ish and chip shop on Barwell. Cheap as chips, large portions and excellent service.

Dreadful quality chips, not cooked hard in the middle, if a fish and chip shop can’t cook chips steer well clear, terrible.

Local chippy, always good food and reasonably priced too. Staff are all very friendly.

We visited here twice during our stay at Mallory Meadows. First time we had fish and chips. Second time a chicken burger and my partner had a kebab. We didn’t realise how much chips you get in a portion, and asked for a portion each, so we had far too much. The kebab comes in a freshly baked naan type bread and is loaded with kebab meat and salad. Everything was delicious and we highly recommend this busy wee chop shop.

I have been a customer for over 10 years. The service and quality of food is second to none. The team are constantly finding ways to improve their menu, a recent example is their salad that now includes pickled red cabbage which is delightful. Mirroring all the other reviews their Kebabs are best in class. Topped off with spotless hygiene. Keep up the great work, it is not going unnoticed.

Excellent place, prices and good food

Can't understand why this place has 4 to 5 stars! Went there last night and the fish we ordered was barely cooked, the batter was raw and thick !!It was terrible to say the least. Ordered mushy peas, got home to find the peas were curry sauce!! Never again! Waste of money!!

Really poor very high prices £7.20 for mini fish and ships is just too much on top of the very poor staff and very disrespectful customers there is no covid rules and people tend to just walk in and place their order regardless of how many people are waiting outside. Person behind the till does not care and will gladly watch you wait for well over 30 minuet's without even acknowledging your existence !? what do you think we are standing there for ? the fun of it. I use to use this chip shop alot but no more I would rather give my money away.

We were on holiday and called at this amazing chip shop, we had a regular kebab, and not only was it quality it was huge, compared to what I’m used to, the chips were gorgeous too, it’s a good job we got this between us . Defiantly be back when next around here.

It’s clear whatever you order is cooked and served to you in the best way possible from the kebabs with the fresh salad, the batter on the amazing white fish. Everything they cook is done with the experience and passion of wanting to get things right ( which they certainly do) added extra they deliver...

You can’t beat freshly cooked Haddock and chips, Mushy peas. Barwell’s favourite chippy. The one thing they could add to there menu is Rock Salmon A cockneys favourite xx

A thoroughly Modern Chippy catering for all the Extra items that people seem to want these days .All that I have purchased has been good enough to eat ! .Well Staffed and Friendly.

Disappointing. Been out the village a few years so thought I'd get a "large" chicken naan which was our regular fare and used to be much bigger than the one they claimed was large. Spoke to a local who confirmed they get a larger one when they buy. Must be a way to make up giving locals bigger ones - charge people they don't recognize (or remember as loyal customers). Either way, for the £7 odd I was charged for a small version, I'll take it as lesson learned and order elsewhere.

Went here because Chris's Fish and Chips round the corner was really busy and queuing out the door. Wish I waited there now, Barwell Fish Bar was dirty, cheap and not very good quality at all, suppose you get what you paid for, but in my option a waste of any amount of money, food went in the bin, and went back to Chris's insted. Won't go to Barwell Fish Bar again.

Just up the road from where we live! Friendly staff and excellent chips and fish. Once tried a mixed kebab and wish I hadn’t! There was simply too much on it that I couldn’t finish it, even though I thoroughly enjoyed what I had. Give this fish and chip shop a try. It’s really very good

The food here is really nice! Their chips are some of the best I've ever tried! The portion sizes are good and the variety is wide. They even do cheesy chips!

This chip shop is a little gem. Their food is extremely good. The kebabs are exceptional. Homemade naan bread. We often have a large mixed kebab with separate salad and chips. Plenty between two people. £3.90 per person. Great value when compared to other takeaway meals. Highly recommend.

Every time I visit this chippy the quality gets better and better, chips and fish are always fresh and of the best quality, batter:fish ratio is on point and the chicken naan kebabs are to die for. What makes it better is that the staff are wonderful, happy and helpful. Beautiful food, beautiful service, beautiful... men!
