What a lovely roast we had . I asked if I could have halloumi with my roast instead of the meat and they were very kind and that was what I got. The food was delicious and hot.

I had my wedding here and it was perfect. Planning - We had multiple meetings with the venue to plan our perfect Day and our wedding coordinator Flo was always on hand to help with any questions or queries. Food - The food was amazing. All our guests enjoyed it and went back for seconds. Staff - The staff were all lovely and accommodating. They made sure the day went perfectly. Venue - The location is beautiful anyway, but the venue is so pretty with the fairy lights and the patio. It's perfect for a intimate rural wedding. Accommodation - the rooms are huge! The hotel is immaculate and the beds are comfy. The rain shower was a nice surprise too! Amazing Venue. We will always recommend this place to everyone for weddings, a night away or just for Sunday lunch!

Food , like the pub / restaurant bland and tired and overpriced, like the beers overpriced , very scruffy place , sad to see , not great

Was self-service on the day we visited which didn't make an impression. Food was good, sandwiches were larger than expected. Halloumi crunchy and went well with the chilli jam.

Very busy pub in great location. Need to book restaurant. Good menu selection even on a Sunday. Service a bit slow especially if you have little ones to amuse but old mill workings and mill stream next to it

Never new this place existed. Good outside seating even in winter. Nice view of the river and the viaduct.

Our room was absolutely beautiful bed is super comfy , all the staff are friendly food was beautiful and the scenery is incredible we loved our stay and so did our doggy . They even have a doggy food menu which I thought was brilliant . Will definitely be back!

We've just enjoyed a lovely couple of days here. Stayed overnight to meet friends. Perfect location by the river. Great for wildlife & dog walks. The rooms were very comfortable & nicely furnished. Everything was thought of, even down to an iron & ironing board. The toiletries were gorgeous & the showers huge with rain & normal shower heads. Now for the food. It was absolutely delicious with generous portions for a change. We ate in both the restaurant & pub areas. Loved the fairy lights in the restaurant. It looked really beautiful. Would make a great location for a special occasion. Finally the staff were very friendly & the customer service was excellent.

Visited the restaurant here, nice cosy atmosphere here and was surprised at how busy it was on a Monday evening. The service was great. I had the vegan katsu curry which I highly recommend, even as a non-vegetarian, and the sticky toffee pudding too. Only negatives, it was a little cold where we were sitting in the restaurant and the car park was totally dark making it a bit difficult to park. Other than that it was a nice meal!

Me & my partner got married here. I cannot recommend this venue enough. The food was great, the staff were fantastic. The accommodation on site was perfect. Special mention to Flo. She was our wedding coordinator. She was amazing. Made the day stress free. Top notch!

Group booking for our Christmas meal. Excellent service through out and the Staff where very friendly. All food came out together and no one was left waiting. All the party were very happy and would love to return.

We had the best wedding day at Bartons Mill. We knew the venue already and always thought it would be a lovely venue - and when it came to deciding on a venue when we got engaged, we actually only looked at one other place as we knew it was perfect for us. The team took SUCH good care of us, and Flo (their events manager) spent so much time helping us and getting to know us. They were happy for us to have our ceremony downstairs, even though it hadn't been done before, and we felt as though we were in very safe hands. It's a beautiful venue, with beams, a watermill, fairy lights, an incredible fireplace downstairs, and is situated by a pretty stream. A perfect place for a cosy, chilled, pub wedding!

Called in to this lovely country pub after a friend recommended it. It did not disappoint! Set in a glorious spot with a super garden next to a relaxing river. Decided to stay for lunch and enjoyed the service and food with lots of choice on offer. The inside was charming and it was terrific to view the old mill stones and the history of the building. I would recommend you give this place a try, I feel sure you’ll be happy with your visit.

What an absolute gem! We had a great stay this weekend, staff were friendly and attentive, food was delicious and loads of choice (both evening meals and breakfast) and the rooms were absolutely beautiful! If we’re ever in the area again we will definitely be back!

We came and stayed at your beautiful place on the 9/1024 My husband had had a routine operation and we don't live close by We chose Bartins mill and it didn't disappoint! We stayed till the 12/10 .. we could have stayed longer Room/Bathroom .. lovely ,warm and clean Pub .. / Restaurant excellent.. Food .. wonderful.. Thankyou Hopefully we're come and stay again

Had our daughter's wedding reception here, the rooms were lovely and clean, the food was lovely, drinks were nice and the staff were fantastic, they made the whole weekend absolutely perfect. Can't recommend this place highly enough.

Didn't stay here, just stopped in for lunch after my son played a football match. Food was good and so was the service. Didn't really look around but seemed like a pretty location.

Very clean, beautiful spot and a well presented establishment. A hidden gem situated in old basing near the river, in a beautiful clearing. Good rooms available for the night and lots of area to explore. Prices and steep here, so expect to pay London equivalent. If your looking to drink and enjoy a sunset,.or quiet nice garden, I found the crown around the corner much better and kinder.in the wallet,.along with better entertainment and options.

Service is spot on. Food is definitely spot on (highly recommend the burger). Staff are friendly. Was expecting it to cost more to feed us than it did (2 adults and 2 children just over £60) but I was pleasantly surprised with the price. Seems very dog friendly. Would deifnitely come here again. (As I say try the burger) ------------------------ Came here on our way back from Somerset. I can definitely confirm my previous review - try the burger. It's absolutely banging. The food is absolutely lovely and the staff are even lovelier - a special shout out to Hannah K who was extremely attentive and I think her efforts should be recognised and rewarded. I'm a firm believer in giving praise where it's due. Beer line maintenance is also well attended to by the taste of the beer - a thoroughly enjoyable pint. They have tabasco sauce available too which definitely deserves brownie points. Would definitely be a regular here if we lived closer (we are from Essex and only passing). Once again, a special thanks to Hannah K for being a little legend :)

Good pub food in a nice environment with a cracking garden.

Just arrived home after a very disappointing hour and half at Barton’s Mill. We walked in and the lady behind the bar treated us as if we were bothering her for asking about a table we had booked. No smile or greeting!! Ordered our meal which was promptly delivered. My husband had Haddock and chips, nobody asked if he would like vinegar or ketchup, I went to the bar to ask the lady for some, she raised her eyes in exasperation (don’t think she meant for me to see) I later asked for her name!! Hannah, even if you are having a bad day you can’t treat customers like this. Such a shame about her attitude, she spoilt our anniversary meal/evening.

Very slow service, had to ask for menus, never had a check in whilst having the main meal, desert menus had to be asked and was left 25 mins and had to ask about them so just asked for the bill and wanted to leave

Been to Barton Mill quite a few times, with family and friends, amazing atmosphere friendly staff, good value for money, worth going

What a detight this place was for my grandsons 21st birthday celebrations. Friends staff .. fabulous "HOT" food and a atmosphere where we could enjoy together our family time. Looking forward to a return visit soon .. thanks to all team for making this a night to remember.

Lovely place for families, and friends (including four legged ones) to meet. A very hot day for my get together so sat inside, cool and stylish, but lots going on outside for braver diners.

Great selection of beers, food a bit pricey

Had our wedding back in June, it is a beautiful venue with very kind and helpful staff. Very atmospheric and just helpful all around. The rooms were beautiful and spacious, especially the bridal suite which was huge and luxurious. There is also a lovely walk down the river right outside. We are looking forward to coming back to have food at the pub on our anniversaries.

Very slow service, small tables, no cutlery, overall poor service for a Friday....

We travelled 50 miles to listen to a band. We got there early but were thrown off our table so locals could sit down. I thought that rubbish went out in the 1960s. Overpriced.

A beautiful restoration of what has always been a wonderful venue

Fantastic setting and still has all the old mill machinery inside. My simple ham, egg and chips was good, Chips excellent! Otherwise menu looked a bit limited.

I came here for lunch, the weather was warm and sunny. The pub is next to a river, The Loddon I believe. The food menu is traditional pub food and very good. The service was very good even though it was busy. Dog friendly SW facing garden. I have been here a lot of times over the years. It does get very busy on a hot weekend.

They did an amazing job with daughter’s wedding this week and made it perfect. The team are so good, food spot on and great dog friendly rooms. Used the ev charger and they even had a field full of rabbits the other side of the railway for the dog to totally not catch.

The location is absolutely gorgeous and the place is lovely. I wanted to love it, but service is just excruciating. There is a queue from the door to the bar (apparently this is a "Bartons Mill thing") and lots of staff milling about, but often just one serving drinks. No idea what the others were doing but it was annoying. My eyes rolled. I spent 20 minutes queuing and almost fossilised. Had a nice bottle of wine (to save queuing again) and the garden is perfect.

Lovely spot near Basing house with stream running through. Food was great and very reasonable. Beer was good and staff were friendly and accommodating. Will be back for sure

I visited Barton's Mill on 26 June with my sister, not a great reception, two people serving at the bar, tables outside not cleared with leftovers and dirty glasses, and a number if people having to clear the tables themselves! long queues to the bar withe one person serving, Oh not forgetting just a couple of feet where we were sitting a dog did a squidgy large poo and then peeded up the sign, not a good experience

Absolutely stunning location and recommend if you are in the area. Great outside area, had a big screen showing the football on. Good mixed crowd of people. Would recommend for friends, dates, people with dogs. Super good service and great food.

Excellent Sunday roast, good service and reasonably priced. Could add hot custard to your puddings though.

We had our wedding here last month, it was amazing from start to finish! The setting is lovely and peaceful by the river and was perfect for our relaxed day. The food was delicious and we had compliments from our guests. Staff were friendly and helpful, nothing was too much. We also stayed in the rooms as did some of our guests, who said were very comfortable and clean. We would recommend Barton's Mill to anyone looking for a wedding venue.

Booked her for a birthday lunch. Served at our table by Chanelle who was absolutely brilliant. Food was fantastic and the drinks were brilliant with a great variety.

Myself and eight friends came to the rubber duck race on bank holiday Monday which was a fantastically well put on event in itself. When it was finished but we still had over an hour and a half to wait until our dinner reservation, I asked if there was any chance we could eat early and Barton's immediately saw us to our table, quickly served us drinks and checked in on any allergy concerns, dinner swiftly followed and nothing was too much trouble (a couple of us had a sharer starter as a main and our gluten free friend was informed of what was available for them and then fully catered for). When it came to paying the bill and splitting it between us all, the lovely server grabbed a pad and started working out the maths on our behalf, then coming over with the card machine for us all to pay. From arrival at midday to leaving at 5:15pm, we could not have enjoyed ourselves more - a wonderful day out with wonderful people, thank you for such a perfect day!!

We had our wedding ceremony and reception at this wonderful venue on May 25th , if we could give this special place 6 stars we would! Everything was perfect from the moment our guests arrived. The bedrooms are superb, the staff are all super attentive and go that extra mile to make sure your day is memorable in every way, the food was outstanding and the Mill House rich in history and super cosy for our guests (62). Flo, our wedding manager, was always on hand to make sure our day was perfect...we couldn't have asked for more....everyone, including ourselves, had the most wonderful weekend celebrating our wedding at Bartons Mill! lovely area for eating, menu varied and reasonably priced. portions well worth price paid. canal and ducks add to ambience. outside the seating area has benches with parasol and numbered tables, two cubicle huts, food and drinks ordered inside, collect your own cutlery, food delivered to tables freshly made and hot. Very friendly staff. Dog friendly as well.

My first visit to this beautiful pub which is in a truly lovely area. As the sun had come out we spent most of our time in the large picturesque garden, luckily with a table right alongside the river so we had a perfect view of the ducks and ducklings as they too enjoyed the weather. The bar staff were welcoming and friendly and helped us to choose from a well thought out menu. All in all a pleasant lunchtime visit which has led to us planning a return visit this time to enjoy the evening restaurant with more time to take in the inside of the old mill house.
