Dreadful place. Over priced, very rude owner who is also openly racist towards customers. AVOID. By buying from here you are giving your money to a person known locally to be racist and discriminatory towards black or Muslim customers.

Avoid much nicer bars you can visit in the area. Tables and chairs are crammed together and the tables were dirty. We were also sat at a table where a chair had no back and was broken .... The service was incredibly slow and no attention to detail. We had to ask for glass with ice twice for the bottled cider. Shame as it was one of the first places I have visited since lockdown. Bar opposite Peckham Rivera is much friendlier and overall nicer more enjoyable atmosphere

Myself and my partner booked a table here weeks ago for Sunday 19th April during the day. We went in and got seated (the tables are very closed together and crammed in, definitely not socially distanced, probably around 2 foot away from the other people both beside and in front and beside, you can barely get out once seated without knocking people behind you. We ordered and waited 45 minutes before we asked for a refund and left (we asked where our drink was after waiting 15 minutes, then again and again until we just gave up). We ended up leaving and going to the Copper Tap which has loads of socially distanced space outside without needing to make a booking and being served straight away. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME on these over priced, bad service pop up places!! Go to a proper pub or a bar! AVOID. AVOID. AVOID.

Been coming for years now. One of the few drinking spots that have stayed authentic & haven't compromised on the quality of their cocktails. Super cheap too. Perfect for a Friday night drink or a pizza with a mate. Much to my delight they've revamped the pizza menu since I last went and its blooming delicious, would recommend the Basil aoili dip. Vibe is always great, bar staff have always been super accommodating & friendly when I've been. A must if visiting Peckham. Try the barstory bonfire!!

We visited bar story tonight as me and my bf met at bar story a year ago. I love their whiskey sours so we went for a drink. The girl who was serving us was nice, she was mixing our cocktails as a male bartender comes behind the bar. He approaches us and says this bar has three stations, how about you guys f**k off away... he obviously wanted us to move away so he could hit on the women behind us. I manage at a bar down the street and I dont understand how this is happening. The guy looked drunk tbh and we left as soon as we finished the drink we paid for. Such a shame that the bar staff is giving the place a bad reputation. The whiskey sours were lovely though as always!!

Dearie me - what a shame that waiting staff were so hapless and rude... They really let this place, which could be good, down. We visited for a Saturday brunch - totally dead. Girl behind the bar/counter provided a frosty welcome and seemed to have no idea which table was which around the venue. She then repeatedly forgot what the order was despite me standing and dictating it to her as she was entering it into the till... How can it be? She seemed so laxadaisical that I can only assume she was incredibly hungover, but sadly she was so mirthless and impolite that I couldn't possibly have even felt sympathy. After about a 45 minute wait food arrived. Bizarrely this was cold despite having just been prepared by chefs. No cutlery: fetched this myself. Salt and pepper? Had to ask the chefs for these - they were decanted from big pots in the kitchen as this is a café that does not seem to have salt and pepper available on tables for guests - quite bizarre. It's a shame the service was so useless, because the food was actually OK in spite of its coldness. Ultimately I pointed out to the lady that she needed to get her act together a bit, given our food was completely cold and we were effectively waiting our own table. She did not take this well at all and snarled aggressively before shrugging her shoulders and snapping "sorry" with no apparent contrition. She spent the remainder of our time there giggling childishly with a colleague and glaring over at us as we ate the average, cold fayre doled out to us. Highly unprofessional and frankly immature... I shall not be back when such great venues abound in the area. A shame that the proprietor(s) and chefs are let down by arrogant serving staff - do yourselves a favour and get a hard worker in!

It’s such a cool little joint to go to, so our experience was such a shame! Went last week with my boyfriend to have a few cocktails and some pizza. The kitchen wasn’t open yet, so we ordered a few rounds whilst we waited. We were told it would be open in 15mins, we were there for 40 and it was still closed. It was happy hour and of course super busy when it came to getting drinks, but that wasn’t our issue. The main issue from our evening, was when my partner dropped his glass and it smashed across the table, also slicing his fingers — I went to the bar to ask for a cloth/brush and plaster, to then have the person behind the bar point at a stack of tissues, essentially ignoring me, it’s not cool.

Nice little bar in a lovely location in an up and coming area. Visited a number of times over the past few years and it's always a pleasant experience. Quaint little garden with a wood burning fire and the crowd is always very cool, per say. Top notch cocktails - try and go at happy hour for a 2-4-1 offer. Along with the great cocktails Barstory serves great pizzas that I would liken to a Franco Manca sour dough galore. This place is perfect for first dates, catch ups with old mates or even a pint with ya dad.

I mean it lives up to the concept; however not much of a variation in the martini’s. Cocktails quite average. Let’s not ignore the fact though that it is great value for money here. If you’re looking for pre drinks with some real South London culture you could give Barstory a shot. The customer service here I must say is very good!

Nice bar, with an outside space incorporating a firepit, set under the arches next to Peckham Rye station. The drinks were reasonably priced for London, and there was a good selection of cocktails and beers. Closing times are early most nights of the week.

BarStory has grown up organically, or so it seems, under the railways arches in Peckham. I remember it appearing temptingly on slow train journeys home, amongst MOT pull-ins and other semi-subterranean neighbours by the station. I think it first appeared about 15 years back and it had an unusual look to it then, with a big part of it consisting of outside tables fringed by still-surviving palm trees - like a mediterrnean place transported to south-east London. It has a long, lively inside cavernous space under the arches too. You can't buy the kind of weathering 15 years gives you - it is full of character and I love it best on a winter night with a brazier going and two-for-price-of -one cocktails. I think the pizzas are great - as good as some of the famous pizza places round about. The staff have always been very friendly to me (I am in my 60s and not a hipster) and most of them mix cocktails very well. Thank you BarStory for making life better.

Staff that are completely wrapped-up in themselves, in their self-importance and trendiness, too busy checking mobile phones and eating to serve. I waited at least 10 minutes to get served. That is with three members of staff and just two of us at the bar! Instead of serving drinks, the young lady was on her phone, eating a piece of chicken (wiping her hands on her jeans), or otherwise looking busy, while completely ignoring me. The one person who was serving, got a cocktail mix wrong and had to start from scratch, which seemed to take an age, and that was only a Bloody Mary. Just awful. Food was great though. Cooked by Dee The Chef, as a separate operation from the bar (mercifully!) and who seems to have quit at the Begging Bowl and started her own thing. Whole grilled squid, Thai fishcakes, grilled aubergine with papaya salad and roast pork. All fresh, full of flavour and delicious! Difficult to rate really: Zero for service/ Five for food!

Service-with-a-smile is NOT available in Bar Story. Is sullen, surly, abrupt service considered ‘cool’? Personally, I consider it rather ignorant and bad mannered. A word of warning:- If you order a Puttanesca pizza (red anchovies, capers, black olives), don’t expect any anchovies. When we mentioned that the anchovies were missing, they acknowledged they had failed to add them – but no apology was forthcoming – of course not. The replacement pizza (which wasn’t offered – we had to ask for it) arrived with white anchovies preserved in vinegar, instead of red anchovies preserved in salt & oil. As a result, the pizza was awful. Also, we were ushered out not long after 10pm, shortly after buying a round of drinks – which we didn’t have time to finish. There are far better pizza restaurants and bars nearby.

It's a trendy place in a very nice location, often crowded and with a nice atmosphere. They should really hire a couple of professional bar tenders who know how to prepare cocktails and see the difference. pizza is acceptable, nice outdoor.

Great place to come any night of the week. I'm a big fan of the happy hour, delicious cocktails at a great price! And being right next to Peckham Rye makes it easy to get to. They use to have fires outside in the winter but they don't seem to anymore which is a shame. I would say that the facilities leave something to be desired, but these barely take away from this being a great place.

This place is another trendy bar in Peckham. We shared a pepperoni pizza which was perfectly acceptable. You will probably wait around for a while to be served here though, as although there are always plenty of staff they seem to take it in constant turns to go smoking in 2s or 3s just next to the bar, where you can have the pleasure to watch and listen to them gossiping about what they did last night and what they will do tonight, all while you wait an eternity for them to come back and serve you (or indeed relieve another bar staff to go and smoke and gossip)I would avoid the cocktails here; no one seems to have shown the staff the bare basics and it really shows in the taste of the cocktail. I had a mojito which was thrown together and made with very cheap rum; awful.

The best place to go for cocktails in Peckham; mainly because of the fair prices, and the unusual setting under a railway bridge with a bonfire in summer. Even better value for money if you visit during happy hour and take advantage of weekly deals on two for one pizza. Fills up very quickly 6-7pm every evening, but worth getting there early for the deal, £7 for 2 cocktails. The cocktail menu is slightly smaller than it used to be, which is a shame, but having said that, the selection is still huge. A regular Friday evening spot for me and my friends. Closing time is a little on the early side at 10pm most nights, but understandable due to the residential road opposite.
