It was a magical experience stepping inside this old stone built, properly authentic village pub for the first time - like stepping back in time, or on to a film set for All Creatures Great and Small ! The locals, and the staff alike, were all very friendly and welcoming too. We visited with friends for Sunday lunch, and were seated in a much more recent conservatory extension, which was light, bright and airy. Our food was properly homemade, completely delicious, served piping hot - and the portions were absolutely gargantuan - and served with lashings of gravy! A wonderful experience all round !

Dropped in for lunch when visiting Dudmaston Hall nearby. The pub was very welcoming with chatty and welcoming staff. The food was good, freshly cooked and tasty as well as being value for money. I had the pork belly and my wife the lunchtime fish and chips both of whichwere excellent. The restaurant would be a paradise for cricket lovers with the wall being almost a shrine to the famous local cricketter Basil D'oliviera. High recommended

Another lovely evening at the Bulls Head. Although we are locals and regulars, it doesnt stop us wanting to take the time to pass on our thanks for the continued great service the owners and staff always provide so consistently. The ales, and Guinness in particular are always first class and cant think of anywhere else that does it better. The Wye Valley bitter is a lovely drink and is kept and served as well as you would expect as if drunk at the brewery. Thanks again all.

This was my second visit in a few weeks and it won't be the last! Excellent and friendly service from a landlord who has been here for many years. Generous portions of top quality food at very reasonable prices. A selection of vegan options was appreciated by my companion. Everywhere was clean and tidy and the atmosphere was most welcoming. One of the best pub restaurants you'll find.

My wife’s comment, ‘It is just what I hoped it would be.’ For me, ‘It was just what it should be. We were just passing and looking for a meal on the way back to where we were staying. It started well by being offered a taste of an unfamiliar beer from Wye brewery. Lovely. And the evening got better. (And I don’t just mean promptly ordering a pint of the aforementioned). Ok Steak & mushroom pie is traditional pub fare. The mash was quite ordinary, but the pie was outstanding. It was sitting there, not in a bowl for you to get out. The pastry was thin. the filling was good. There was a jug of extra gravy. It was the sort of place where you wonder 'If I come back, would I have the same because I enjoyed it, or try something else ?'

Very pleasant Sunday lunch today. The patè starter was massive and was more like a light weekday lunch (!), but the garlic mushrooms were disappointing, served on a soggy white half of a Kingsmill "thin", not a crunchy croute as expected from the menu description. Despite that, our main courses were tasty, portions were ample, the puddings we had were exactly as expected, and the service was good, with cheerful attentive staff.

We visited here a few times while on holiday and would definitely return and recommend to others. The bar staff were really friendly, and we loved how the chef came and personally said hello when we arrived, and talked us through the menu! Menu was really varied with lots of vegetarian options and we all throughly enjoyed our food throughout the week. Thanks!

Outstanding food and service. One of our party had specific dietary requirements and we were very grateful that chef Adam catered off-menu to suit their needs ensuring yhey had no reactions to the meal. The staff are really friendly and the owners: John and Norma, always take time to chat to customers, making us feel welcomed into their establishment! The Bulls Head serves a wide range of beverages plus a very competitively priced wine list. We ended up taking a bento box of leftovers home for the next day as it was so good. Thoroughly recommend this quaint village pub/restaurant. For a special occasion, or just popping in for decent pub grub - the menu suits all!

Fabulous lunch to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Three of us had starters which were delicious. Our main courses were fabulous and we were served individual dishes of fresh vegetables. My chicken with bacon in a mushroom sauce was so tender and moist and tasted delicious. We were all too full to order sweets despite them being very tempting. Excellent service and so unexpected for the chef to come and check that we were happy with our meals. Definitely returning. In fact we are booked in for Sunday lunch. Well done everybody.

A group of 12 had booked and pre-ordered our meals only to be told when we arrived that meals had not been pre-ordered. Despite showing our e- mail and the confirmatory reply from the inn, the officious "manageress" refused to accept that she was wrong and did not have the decency to apologise. The food was enjoyed by all, but the bad attitude shown when we arrived left a lot to be desired.

Visited The Bull's Head with friends one evening earlier this month. Can't remember now what we all chose (pretty sure 2 were from the burger rage) but we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. It was a quiet evening and we chose to eat in the bar. There was a lovely warming log fire burning away which kept everyone nice & warm. Between us we think we had; 4 main courses, 2 puddings & 2 drinks each & the total bill came to just short of £80 which we thought was good value as all the meals are home cooked/prepared.

Ate here twice as a group of 17 friends whilst on a walking holiday and renting a property nearby. It was the only eatery within walking distance from the property just over a mile away and meant that we could all enjoy a drink as well. Mine host was very welcoming and the food was typical "gastro-pub" fare. Quality and quantity totally acceptable, and very reasonably priced.

Gracias

We had our works Christmas do here for 30+ people and we stayed the night. Front of house staff were lovely and welcoming, but that is all I can really say nice about our stay. Our room was like something out of the 70/80s very twee and old-fashioned. Quilt cover had a rip in it. Bath looked old, faint smell of cigarette smoke. No soap, shower gel etc in the bathroom - to help save the planet apparently - you could request some at reception. We were woken about 6am by what I assume was some kind of water cistern behind one of the bedroom walls that sounded like a plane going over head. The party. Arrival time was stated as 7pm and most (about 180) turned up about then. We were all crowded into the bar which wasn't big enough and soon warmed up to a very uncomfortable temperature. They eventually let us in at 8pm. Drinks were astronomically expensive - £7.50 for a pint £8.20 for a Baileys or a large glass of wine (£25+ by the bottle) and £7.20 for a pint of coke!!!. The main course wasn't served until after 9pm and my beef was dry and tasteless, though others who had the turkey said it wasn't bad. And my Xmas pudding was dry too. All in all not somewhere I would ever go again and certainly don't know where it gets it 4 star rating from. I did voice most of my complaints to reception before leaving.
