Barrafina was by far the best restaurant i’ve been to in london. The food was amazing and the service was exceptional. It was relaxed in the best way possible, the food came out quickly but not in a rushed manner. Everything we ate was delicious, the tortilla was perfectly cooked, runny in the middle but still firm. The prawns and tuna were exceptional. We tried lots of little dishes, all were worth the money and exceeded our expectations. We finished with a cheesecake special and a delicious cheese board. The cheese was ridiculously delicious, we later found out it was rated the best cheese of year. The puddings ended our night on a complete high. If you want to choose anywhere to go, go to Barrafina for an amazing evening with brilliant service with amazing food.

It is thrilling to report that one can once again pay a small fortune for really average food in central London. Barrafina has been around for a while and was, in its infancy, a great place to take a date and enjoy some decent Span-ish food for reasonable money. Hence the queues out of the door. On this night it was pre-booked by tourists whose guide books had told them to go there, and 20-somethings with more cash than sense. Dining a la Ramsey circa 2007.So having weathered the Covid storm while so many small restaurants have drowned, Barrafina is now able to relax and cash in. A dinner of £8 croquettes (x2, fine), £10 tortilla (absurdly undercooked), £8 pimientos (small, no live bullets), £18 (!) for 2 x chicken thighs in a cloying Romesco sauce, £32(!!) for a block of tepid sirloin in a bloody jus, and £12 for a salad of lettuce, anchovies and pancetta (actually ok, still bloody expensive), plus 4 x small beers and 4 x glasses of red = £160 pounds sterling.Tapas used to be served free in Spain along with each drink, and get progressively better with each round. Tapas should be fresh, quick, tasty and cheap. This is not tapas. It is slow, overwrought, under-flavoured and ludicrously expensive food, a menu of meh with the occasional hit.But hoorah and hurrah - the pandemic is ending, and this is the proof. Time for all the young chefs to start sharpening their knives, tie on those aprons and pile in to the metropolis again. Carve up the old guard and let's see what the end of WFH brings to the table, venga!!

Went with friends who had been to other Barrafina restaurants. We all enjoyed the food which I would rate as excellent. Service could have been better, bit slow and forgetful. However I’d return.

My Spanish husband has been to a few of their locations but finally I joined him for a night out. You have to like sitting at the counter on bar stools and seeing them work. For us, this is great but if this doesn't sound like you then you might want to go elsewhere. The food was spectacular. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Great service from the ladies keeping things moving. It would be 5 stars if they could leave an empty chair between customers but I can understand they want to fill every spot. We made a last min booking but you can also take a chance and just show up.

My daughter and I really enjoy Spanish tapas so were looking forward to visiting Barrafina given its Michelin star. We went for lunch and sat at the counter, right in front of the kitchen. A fun vibe, the food was good and we enjoyed watching all the activity in the kitchen.

This is a repeat visit to an excellent restaurant. It is always good to see that the specials board is refreshed and there are new items to try.As ever, the food is very well prepared and delicious, from the traditional menu staple of ham croquetas and tortilla to grilled hake, duck leg and pork shoulder, every dish was special in its own way. The service was good as always with staff providing fresh plates and cutlery and topping up our water. The only downside the slightly cramped counter seating where we are really squished up against other diners. This is a small price to pay for the wonderful food though.

The food was good, we have certainly had better traditional tapas in the UK, (without the Michelin star). Service was ok… However, counter top seating frankly made us feel like I was sitting in a fast food restaurant, it really diluted the experience. Not enough space for small plates, cramped & uncomfortable.

Our dinner before theatre was at Barrafina, Adelaide Street, and we lucked in getting there early! Would definitely recommend the carafe of Mura! Definitely explore the specials board, and soak up the cooking displays wherever you sit (though some stools are better placed than others).

I was really excited to try this restaurant and had high hopes but unfortunately the experience was not what I’d expect at such a highly reputable restaurant. We were seated in a downstairs area that had no atmosphere and made us feel forgotten about. Service was so slow and the waiter was not acknowledging of this or apologetic at all. We waited 1 hour and 20 minutes for two dishes (steak and prawns) which is absolutely outrageous in any restaurant. When we asked the waiter he dismissed us and said ‘it was on the way’ - there were no apologies when it was served late. One of the dishes that eventually came wasn’t even what we ordered. When we queried this on the bill the waiter dismissed us again and said not to worry about it. There were no apologies or attempt to make good. So disappointed in my experience here and frankly felt embarrassed to take friends here when I expected higher standards.

Wow. This place is like stepping into Spain. The decor, service, food all hits the mark. We sat at the bar and watched the team at work, perfectionists. Every dish was precise. The waitress recommended some dishes to us and they were all delicious. The Ham Croquetas, in many places bang average were amazing. The sardines cooked to perfection and all of the seafood dishes looked delicious. All of the staff were friendly and happy to answer any questions about the dishes. Our drinks remained topped up throughout. This place is on my return list for sure. I've already recommended to about 10 people!

We have been to this place before and decided to return as we love the food. I shall not be returning. The food is good but the unwelcoming approach is not something that leaves a good taste in you even if the food is good. I booked a table a month ago and arrived to be told to sit right next to the door and facing very away from the bar. They had spaces that were apparently being kept for other clients. After a short delibaration we were eventually given another bar table. Upon sitting the waiteress offered us drinks on the house (No, I am not referring to the free water as this was offered separately!) that later on appeared on the bill. I assume that she forgot of the incident....all in all, left an unpleasant feeling in me despite the nice food. Will not return.....

The last restaurant meal we had before the second lockdown was here and the first since opening up also..may 19. Still just superb with a few new dishes; monkfish cheeks; lamb shank. And the usuals just tops, courgette and flower, padrons, delicious salads. It’s the cooking plus the dressings and herbs and spices that make it so good. My favourite pud, miholjas were superb with cloves, cinnamon and something else (?) in the cream… just great.. albarino and cava go down a treatThese guys know what they are doing…bon chance!

After a long time of trying to get to Barrafina after work on a city day.....we finally were able to book a table and try it out. As it was just the two of us the counter seats where our sanctuary. A very clean and bright interior with a well poised crowd to match. We sampled some of the more popular dishes. It’s not the cheapest and I did leave feeling peckish but ultimately valued the experience of great wine and food. The gentleman serving us was a delight and a regular couple sitting of our right gave multiple suggestion. I would return! Thank you guys xx

For me Barrafina has very good concept, I highly recommend if you are going to the Theater before the show. Very good service and good quality. Amazing selection wines. Red Wine my favourite is Vilosel and Muga Reserva and Friki, Wine wine you should try Hart Bross Albarino, La Mar( Albarino & Loreiro) Flower and the bee. (Ribeiro)Food we always ordered Banderilla Stick!, with the beer is like fireworks in your mouth. Chipirones (Baby fried squid) Paletilla, Octopus, Seafood Rice, Pork Ribs and Oxtonge, Milk fed lamb kidneys, Escalivada and green Salad.Dessert I really have to say. Cream F ice cream that Ice cream is fantastic. I really love it.Carry on and feeling good to go before to a digestive Paxtaran (Sloeberries Anis) Staff happy and friendly. We will be back again.

Siendo español, tuve que probar algunas cosas buenas en torno a las tapas en Londres, lo mejor se encuentra en Andalucía, en mi opinión. . . ; )Lo que me encantó de Barrafina, Adelaide street; fue una gran tortilla de patatas con huevo, líquida y unctious, vinos españoles increíbles y de calidad (probamos 8 entre nosotros), pan casero fantástico, Crema Catalana, la mejor y más adecuada que he probado en el Reino Unido (mi madre catalana). . lo último está en Prades, Catalunya, Barrafina está bastante cerca.Así que en el lado de la comida. . . Me encantó lo anterior. . . También tenía croquetas de calabaza, excelente ejecución, pero faltaba un sabor fuerte que se necesitaba alrededor de Bechamel. . muy soso. Brochetas de sepia (sepia) (ensartadas): trozos muy pequeños de trozos de sepia muy finos / presentados con frugalidad, untados con más salsa que los trozos de sepia reales, menú "asado a la parrilla". . . descripción no lograda realmente. Los chipirones tenían demasiada pasta, no suficientes mariscos para mí.Gran servicio, el maitre di fue amable, acogedor y un gran profesional. La camarera ecuatoriana tenía un estilo cálido fantástico. Recomendar ambos; )

Visité como parte del plan de comer fuera para ayudar, pero muy preocupado por el nivel de gestión de riesgos de Covid. La bandera roja era el gerente / frente de la casa abrazándose y estrechándole la mano a un comensal / amigo en la entrada.Buena comida como siempre, pero me mantendría alejado por ahora. La gestión de riesgos de Covid incluye controles de temperatura y geles en la entrada, y el lavado de botellas de agua sin gas. Genial, pero eso es todo. Los camareros se acercan a su cara para hablar sobre el menú y se inclinan sobre su hombro para quitar los platos. El problema es que ninguno de los miembros del personal lleva máscaras o viseras. Sugiero que los clientes escriban los pedidos o los envíen electrónicamente a través de una aplicación para minimizar la proximidad al personal.Evítelo hasta que se tomen a covid más en serio y protejan mejor al personal y a los clientes.

Auténticas tapas con un toque moderno. Este lugar sirve buena comida, pero las porciones son pequeñas y un poco caras. El servicio fue bueno, pero nos sentimos muy apresurados. Es un lugar pequeño y necesitan cambiar las tornas, pero nos dieron la factura sin pedirla y hubiéramos gastado más dinero en bebidas y postres si hubiéramos tenido la oportunidad. La sabrosa comida es la única razón por la que le he dado 4 estrellas.

We had a photo of the menu from when we were in London last year and when we compare the prices they had done up and we certainly noticed that in the bill. No denying the food is lovely and as someone who goes to Spain 5/6 times a year it does feel quite authentic however you will need a lot of food to fill up and the bill then quickly gets expensive. For 2 we paid £175 and while we had a very enjoyable couple of hours we weren't exactly full when leaving. It has got to the price point where I'd prefer go somewhere else in London. Especially factoring in you can't book so you either join the queue outside before the place opens to get a seat in the first sitting or you arrive and wait for an unknown period of time! We left disappointed.

We hired the private dining room downstairs, when I arrived at the restaurant looking at peoples food on the way in I had high hopes, how wrong could I have been! The paella was dry and just tasted of paprika, the pork belly dish was ok but had raw garlic on top, the creme catalana was basically scrambled egg with a sugar lid! Avoid the private dining at all costs

Absolutely delicious food. Truly one of the nicest tapas meals I’ve ever had! Only negative is that we were told there was a 20 min wait for a table on arrival - the host persuaded us to stay by saying we could order a drink and bar snack while we waited for a table and then we were promptly ignored for 20 minutes! The staff definitely noticed us but we were very deliberately ignored which was frustrating. as we would have ordered a drink and olives while we stood waiting.

At 12.15 I am the first lunch customer and the lined up staff, clearly chomping at the bit, greet me like a Lord, eager to get me chomping too. I am swiftly served a cold manzanilla and prawn croquettes. Bread and olive oil takes a bit longer. Grilled Cod Catalan on a bed of spinach, tomatoes, onions and covered in grilled gratinated aioli takes longer still. It's a large portion of fish and takes another glass of manzanilla to help it swim down. Great dishes; a blissful venue; but after more than one hour in the restaurant, service could have been snappier. Barrafina is a happy place with smiley staff, but getting a bit expensive. The bill - after deducting an incorrect item and adding £6.25 service charge- at over £50 is a bit top heavy.

I had a very bad experience there. We were asking for a table for 4 and the waiter told us 10 minutes but result in 50 minutes of waiting. After 50 minutes, we were placed in a table at a corner and the seating was dark and squeezed. We asked if we can swap to a nearby table saying we could squeeze ourselves in after seeing a table for three was available. We got rejected with huge arrogance from the waitress saying that the table was for three. I really have no idea where the arrogance was coming from. Not sure if they have any discrimination on our race. A manager came to us after we decide to leave. But we had no interest of staying there anymore. I’ll give no recommendation for the place and it’s going to be my first and last time there.JUST DON’T STAY IF THEY SAY THERE WILL BE A TABLE SOON FOR 4 PEOPLE.

We finally managed to eat at a Barrafina. The format is shared tapas and counter seating where you watch the kitchen at work. We talked to the chefs and, when something looked interesting, asked what they were preparing. It is a lot of fun and the food was very tasty. We enjoyed talking to our neighbours at the counter and sharing notes about the food.

This place was recommended to me by a colleague. Arrived at 4.45 and joined the queue watching the staff inside bonding/staff briefing before doors opened and yay we had a seat! Loved watching all the chefs working at the pass. Tortilla, green salad, octopus, Fresh baked bread and oil and Padron peppers all washed down with house wine. Service was friendly and helpful but the best was watching the chef theatre in front of us! Not cheap but for us Folkestoners, expected London prices however a few Folkestone eateries not far off London prices...#upandcoming!

Parece un poco exaltado y calificado. Es una suerte del sorteo. Algunos platos pueden ser muy buenos, pero algunos no están seguros de por qué los tienen en su menú. En primer lugar, señalaré que vinimos aquí un lunes por la noche temprano, ya que nos encontramos libres de niños, por lo que el ambiente siempre iba a ser diferente, pero nuestra visita aquí no fue tan buena como mis recuerdos teñidos de rosa de la Barrafina original. en la calle Frith. En aquel entonces no te importaba hacer cola durante una hora porque sabías que la comida te dejaría boquiabierto. Esta vez no tuvimos que esperar por una mesa, pero tampoco tuvimos la increíble experiencia de comida que esperaba. El jamón no se derritió como lo recordaba y algunos platos como el especial de berenjena eran bastante aburridos. Sin embargo, comimos muy bien en general. La tortilla clásica era soñadoramente líquida, el cochinillo era rico y mantecoso y el entrecot carnoso y tierno. Salimos llenos y satisfechos, pero no alcanzó las alturas que esperábamos.

La disposición de los asientos (taburetes de bar) fomentó un ambiente social y tranquilo. Probamos una amplia gama de platos y quedamos particularmente impresionados con los mariscos a la parrilla (gambas rojas, pulpo, rodaballo y mejillas). Wow. I hadn’t been to a Barrafina for 5 years, in which time it has transformed into a typical London chain - overpriced and average quality. The suckling pig knuckle for £18 (pic) was one of the better value items. A croquette of monkfish which was no more than a mouthful each cost the same, but the 4 spears of asparagus for £13 really took the biscuit. Lesson learned. When private equity takes a great concept and rolls it out expect to pay through the nose for worse quality. Never going back.

Came here with some friends for a Friday after work dinner and was amazed with the food they served. As we chose which dishes to order as a group, some of the dishes that were served were food that I usually would not have been too keen to try (vegetable only dishes). However all of the food was done wonderfully and I found myself enjoying and wanting more of the dishes that I initially did not think I would like so much. Barrafina gets a 5 star from me!

We arrived early (5pm) for pre theatre tapas. Bar stools or standing only, there were bar seats available on arrival but by 5.30/6.00 folks had to wait. If you’re meeting friends, all have to be present to be seated - you can’t reserve an empty seat for anticipated guests.

Lovely place - great atmosphere and food. The staff were really helpful at explaining food where we weren't sure what it was. I don't particularly like bar eating but that should not affect the overall score. It's just personal preference and the only reason I mention it is to let people know. I wanted to have a dessert but didn't have room!

The service in this place is an absolute diabolical! Is this really a 1 star michelin star restaurant? Been working in hospitality all my life I never encountered a ‘michelin’ restaurant with a VERY VERY bad service. The woman who served us is so rude and started to lay down all the rules to dine in this restaurant. She said its impossible to sit 5 people together and having said that showed us outside tables that we cant join it together which means 1 person has to sit on his own! Is this for real?? (Apparently this is the RULE to dine in this ‘prestigious’ restaurant)

For good restaurants, one often say you can eat there everyday. Well, I had lunch with two friends and dinner with family on the same day. The menu is extensive enough to keep showing up. Over these two meals, my favourite will be the cuttlefish croquettos, pimientoes for starters. The iberico pork ribs are so tender and meat falls the bone. Will also recommend the fish dishes on their special of the day board. Surprisingly we had the seafood risotto for the first time. Was flavourful but I thought it was a tad salty. Do note their opening times as they do not take reservations. And be prepared to wait for seats and the entire dining party must be there before they seat you.

The food in this place is exquisite, and in many regards quite Spanish (such as the pimientos del padron), but also with innovative aspects, and un-spanish elements such as an almost-raw tortilla and stuffed courgette flowers. The chipirones (baby squids in batter) are exquisite. The raw scallops are okay, but nothing to yell about.The cheese plate is good for dessert although I have heard good things about the milhojas. The wine list is just the right length and doesn't confuse, although the aren't afraid to charge for it. I'd have the Muga if you can afford it. Have a plate of almonds too - and maybe some tomato bread or bread and oil, Spanish style. It's very informal and relaxed with a load of staff bustling about behind the counter - it's always busy and indeed had to wait forty minutes for seating last time. If you want a genuine Spanish experience I'd say this maybe isn't your ideal choice, but if you want haute cuisine styled tapas, then this is the spot.

The three of us came here for a dinner on a Thursday, without reservation, not even sure if you can book at all, so had to wait for 15min (but we were able to have a drink in the meanwhile which was nice). I am generally not the biggest fan of Spanish food tbh but I was really enjoying EVERYTHING we ordered. Great place if you are into sharing plates with others. Could maybe do with a couple more green/veggie options. There was a nice vibe here overall, and the staff were lots of fun. I would come back.

We visited Barrafina before the theatre, and we had a tremendous meal. We arrived around 5:30 p.m. on a Thursday, and we were surprised that there was no queue. The staff were friendly and recommended a great bottle of Tempranillo to start our meal. The tomato bread is out of this world good, along with the courgette flowers. We also really enjoyed the padron peppers, the ham croquettes, the iberico ham, and the cheese platter. Even the bread and olive oil were delicious. The restaurant has a great vibe, and we never felt rushed to finish our meal. I would happily return.

Food is authentic Spanish and very well prepared, not traditional Tapas of small pre prepared dishes but dishes are smallish prepared when you order and served together unless you phase your order. Many specials each day often fish which is displayed on an ice bed behind the bar. Everyone sits at the bar to eat and the waiting staff merge with the chefs who prepare the food behind the bar. Super lively ambiance and the food is great, worthy of mention was the special of stuffed squid and barbecued milk fed lambs kidneys which is a standard Menu item. A salad of fennel radish and pear was superb. One thing to note is no booking possible you have to queue for a seat they open at noon (lunch) and 17.00 (dinner0 if you want to go straight to a seat I advise you arrive at least 10 minutes before they open there is always a queue when they open.

Ate here tonight and omg it was amazing. Thought it would be hard to get a seat particularly as it marathon day but was really lucky. Das Restsurant bzw. Lokal nimmt keine Reservierungen entgehen und somit steht man, wie so oft in London, in einer Schlange und wartet auf einen der begehrten ca. 30 Sitzplätze im Lokal . Diese Plätze Reihen sich direkt an die Arbeitsplätze der Küche und das Auge wird somit auch verwöhnt da hier direkt vor den Gästen gekocht wird. Die Speisekarte besteht aus vielen kleinen Speisen quasi Tapas die auch noch um wechselnde Spezialitäten erweitert werden. Für ein begehrtes Lokal im Zentrum der Stadt ist das Preis/Leistungs-Verhältnis sehr gut und ich werde sicher wieder herkommen.

We came for an early lunch on a Saturday. Was surprised that there was already a queue before opening time. Seating is all at the bar (no tables) and it's fun to be able to watch the chefs prepare your food in front of you. Some of the tapas was outstanding - the cuttlefish croquettes were the best, really unusual and so tasty. Some other dishes probably not that good value. Overall worth a visit for the experience and unusual food. Be prepared though, it's not cheap!

My wife and I dropped in randomly, and was seated in the bar-like Tapas restaurant after only a short wait. The restaturant was full and buzzing - on both sides of the bar. Food service was both competent and fast - and everything looked appealing and tasted great. We will be coming back for sure.
