I have done a more detailed review, but here with minimal characters allowed i can honestly say during our stay i have no reason to recommend this restaurant. The food was a bit hit and miss. I had the steak and it was very bland the fish and chips and tart from the brasserie menu were nice. We were not actually seated in the restaurant but in the same place we had breakfast. The restaurant, brasserie, breakfast area are all in one area its just kind of divided up and is in a separate building to the rooms which are mainly separate from the main hall. We were expecting something a wee bit more grand, there's no atmosphere here although the staff were all very attentive and Covid safety very good, most of the time. (staff seen on the odd occasion not wiping tables after guests had left) It didn't meet my expectations.

We stopped briefly for an afternoon tea overlooking Rutland water. Temperatures were taken on entering the restaurant and there were bottles of gel around and a oneway system in place. Tea was served on the terrace, but there was no sign that the tables were being cleaned before and after use, not good enough. NOTE our teas was not in the main hotel, but in a Cafe style building (Edith Watson Suite ?) on the RHS before arriving at the hotel.

Went for Sunday lunch this Easter, when the weather was amazing. Restaurant appeared to be bit bland and old fashioned on first viewing but staff were very friendly and wanted to do their best. Service was a bit slow on the starters and they served soup with a very misleading description but the carvery made up for it. It was served by the female chef and she was happy to let you have a mix of meats. Wine choice good, After the meal we sat out in the sunshine at tables in front of the Restaurant and watched the happenings - wedding reception on and guest all walking past in their finery. We then had a wander about the grounds which were beautifully maintained and enjoyed the views of the Lake and the wildlife. Will certainly go back.

Went yesterday. What a shambles. Arrived and checked in didnt get any information about facilities. Went through for our prebooked treatment at £55 extra per person for this youd expect there to at least some heating on. The treatment rooms were freezing and we had booked the same treatment (hot stone massage) but got different massages overall. We hung around reception to see what happend next as we hadnt been told and the receptionist for the treatment area just said oh thatll be £55 each. Ok we expected that. So wandering around again to find the spa to then find it and not be able to get in because we needed tokens. Went back upstairs to get tokens. Get changed in the tiny changing rooms and put stuff in the lockers.... do not take new pound coins of which we werent told so again back upstairs to see what we do. Purchase tokens. Finally in the spa and the pool is ice cold. Sat on the loungers for the lifeguard to inform us we needed to leave as pool closes 1 til 2. We werent told this. He said we could sit in the restaurant in out robes? We werent given robes so he went and got us some. Sat in the restaurant the with people in their coats because it was so cold. Back into the spa at 2. Afternoon tea booked for 3 so get showered in the luke warm showers and out to the restaurant where they couldnt find our name. The girl just scribbled it down and shoved us in the corner of an empty restaurant. Asked if any dietary requirements.... yes no butter or spread.... food came out and half the sandwiches contained butter or spread so we sent them back. Bearing in mind we were the only ones there 50 mins later no replacement sandwiches. Told girl sat at desk we were leaving because we had waited long enough. No apology or explanation to what happened. A relaxing day taken over with too many mistakes by too many staff. Will not bw returning. £250 wasted

A lovely week's holiday at Barnsdale. We visited the restaurant just once. Soulless restaurant. For an hour we were the only people in there! However the view of Rutland Water from there is priceless. Very, very small starters. Nice fish and chips but very overpriced meal. However the staff are a delight.

The 'top to toe' spa package is perfect. £55 and you get full use of leisure facilities, half hour back massage, hair washed and blow dried and a light lunch. Lovely relaxing day out.

We had a family dinner at the Barnsdale Country Club restaurant. The ambience was nice and cosy. The food took a rather long time to come. I was disappointed with my sirloin steak. It was cooked 'medium' as requested but was very tough and tasteless. My sons ordered 'medium rare' sirloin steaks but their steaks were also very tough and tasteless. My wife enjoyed her pot roast lamb shank. All in all a rather disappointing meal but service was good.

The "but" is because the hotel is in need of TLC. The staff were excellent throughout our stay and couldn't be more helpful. The restaurant offered good food and wine. The problem is that the hotel is faded at the edges. For example, the bed springs were rather worn. The settee in our bedroom was stained and worn. The carpet should be cleaned professionally or replaced. A pity, but some refurbishment would lift its hotel from 3 stars to 4.

Staying at the hotel we used the restaurant for evening meal, the menu had a good variety and was well laid out, we had a good view of grounds from our position and service was excellent throughout the night. The food served was well cooked and presented and portions were good, we all enjoyed the meal. Breakfast next morning was a little disappointing all said the food was only like warm from the buffet self service which was a shame as it spoilt a perfect venue.

Had a nice stay. Chose this hotel as it was close to the Burghley Horse Trials. Room was clean and the bed very comfortable. Bathroom a bit dated but clean. Breakfast was good for buffet style staff very pleasant. Lovely setting.

We were invited to a wedding reception at this place. It is supposed to be a good venue for wedding. Grounds are nice but not impressed with the function room. Haven't had more disgusting food at a reception. Some of the food items were over fried.

What an absolutely gorgeous 3 course Sunday lunch. Cannot fault the food, service and atmosphere. The “Pork& Chorizo” Scotch Egg starter was delicious as were the Scallops my wife had. For main I tucked into one of the best Roast Pork I have ever tasted! For puds there was in my opinion only one item on the menu to pick … Caramelised Apple Crumble with custard … yum yum! Cannot recommend The Old Pheasant enough now it’s under new ownership … big round of applause to Damon and Chef Robert.

This company had a stall selling coffee and pastries at Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival. They took the payment and then I realised there was a 20 minute wait for two coffees and a pastry which cost over £12 and the coffee was horrible. Muddy, weak and tasteless. I asked them to redo it, which one of the guys did, however, it was still weak and tasteless even with half the water. I was told to wait to complain to the manager but when he eventually came he was rude and refused to give me a refund. Other people in the queue were also unhappy and someone else brought their drink back as well. I said I would post a review and he said he didn’t care as he had sold thousands of coffees. Terrible service and coffee and the manager is arrogant. Avoid this company if you can

Five friends and four guide dogs enjoy there night out. It is so nice to be welcome into a restaurant that doesn’t make you feel a Burden because of the dogs and sit you hidden away. Made to feel welcome by all the restaurant staff that look after us. Meal and evening excellent
