I have just left the Barnett Hill hotel, I'm currently still in the car park and I just had to leave a review right away. We came today to have a champagne afternoon tea to celebrate my birthday. The food was lovely the deserts were festive, creative and delicious but the show stopper to the whole experience was without a doubt the staff! Every single staff member we spoke to was happy, polite, fun and couldn't do enough to help in any way. Afternoon tea at the Barnett Hill is an absolute delight, we will definitely be back and recommending.

Just missing Basil Fawlty Booked the comfy king room, breakfast and dinner package. Was given a budget double and when I returned to reception to inform them it was not the room I had booked they doubled down on it and assured me it was a comfy king room. Only when showing the pics of the room on their website would they move me. Dining room was freezing, they had to bring blankets and a heater in to sort it out. Lentils were undercooked in the soup and the beef was like rubber and couldn't be cut with my knife so had to send it back. Staff were friendly but probably not being given the required support from the management. then when I retired to sleep my room was not soundproofed and I could hear the neighbours taking and showering until late. Shame, as the building and gardens are amazing. Suggest the Alexander collection pack in hospitality.

I recently enjoyed afternoon tea here with a friend, and it was an incredible experience! I had the gluten and dairy-free setup, and it was honestly the most delicious I’ve ever had. Every item was thoughtfully prepared, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. The attention to detail and quality of the ingredients really stood out. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and the staff were attentive and friendly, making it a truly memorable visit. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a wonderful, allergy-friendly afternoon tea experience!

Afternoon Tea- I made a reservation for my 2 friends for 3:30pm. We received the confirmation email, turned up, after not eating all day, to be told the hotel had not been informed of the reservation and they had no food for us!!! There were two other ladies having afternoon tea in the same room?? I was told they were walk ins and they had no food left? They hadn’t received our booking.. I believe the chef couldn’t be bothered, it only takes 12 minutes to cook a scone? They offered a complimentary tea and coffee, Prosecco and a biscuit. So disappointing and an afternoon I can get back for my American friends.

My first time visiting. Stayed in a standard room outside in the courtyard, the room was very clean and quiet. The bed was super comfy and cosy. I love a sparkling clean bathroom so thank you housekeeping and I like the fact you use the brand Temple Spa (really lovely lotions). Food wise, we both ordered prawn cocktail to start, followed by veg risotto. It would have been lovely to have had the prawn starter served in a traditional cocktail glass, anyhow it still was very tasty. Unfortunately the risotto was very watery, not enough stock/flavour - just needed a bit more kick, however I still ate it :-) When we went to the bar for a last drink around 10.35pm the bar had closed and we wanted to buy a bottle of bubbly for our room but turned away and told to order off Uber eats, which we did, I don’t mind but could have added a little more profit to the hotel as we don’t buy cheap ;) Overall, no complaints to be honest. Staff were lovely, the grounds are beautiful and I definitely will come back (will bring my mum next time for tea and cake).

Fantastic building that has been modernised in the interior. The buildings are charming, yet also warm and comfortable inside. The grounds are picturesque and the surrounding area is brilliant for walking around to absorb country life. The proximity to great towns and country pubs of the areas is also covenant and allows guests to immerse themselves in Guildford region life. However the highlight was the staff who did their utmost to make our stay enjoyable and hassle free. Truly commendable and I would definitely recommend Barnett Hill to people visiting the region who want to be immersed in the local region.

The location looks really good at first views, but it’s an old building with very little upgrades. Unfortunately my bathroom was dirty, had hair on its floor. The breakfast was clasic English breakfast but the cheapest quality. ☹️ I was not very happy with 1 night stay.

I booked a suite for a very special occasion several months ago only to be called 6 days prior to arrival that they had 'double booked' the room. On asking it appears they cancelled as the other booking was for 2 nights, whereas mine was for one. I was offered an alternative smaller room for £269 which I declined. Very disappointed.

splendid hotel, with an exceptional wooded environment, even if the castle and the park are less well maintained than a few years ago. message to the owners: be careful not to spoil such a beautiful heritage!!

We had booked to stay here for our wedding anniversary with a 55 minute massage . The room whilst large was above the very noisy kitchen . The service was terrible verging on rude . Our massage was booked and confirmed for 4 pm which they then changed to 4:30 .by 4:40 no one turned up , the reception staff went to get them and we where told it was now a 40 minute massage as they had kids to get home to !! Even though we had booked and paid for 55 minutes. The whole experience was so disappointing and ruined our anniversary. We left and came home .

For the money it cost the room was very small. Slatted blinds instead of curtains was/is a disastrous idea. Let the light in way too much. Had to move the heavy bed in order to use the plug sockets that end of the room. Had breakfast the 1st morning which is the thick end of 20 quid. Whilst it tasted OK, it shows all you can order along with the continental stuff, but fails to inform you that ordering full English and then pancakes and syrup results in another charge for cooked breakfast. When I queried the bill they removed it. The building is pretty nice. Would have been better to have left it as the country house it used to be.

This hotel is beautiful! I took my mum for a birthday spa day. The staff were friendly. The massage was very good, and the therapist listened to me and did exactly what I needed. Excellent! The afternoon tea was set out beautifully and tasted as good as it looked. There was a bit of confusion with the whole experience as I'd booked through spabreaks. It did make it feel like we weren't supposed to be there, and I had to provide proof of the purchase of having ordered a bottle halfway through our lunch. So, missed communications did let it down slightly. But we both still enjoyed it.

We're regulars. Food was great and the place was the busiest we've seen it for some time. My only niggle was being asked three times how our main course was. Once is enough. It became a little intrusive to be interrupted repeatedly. Once per course is enough.

Love this place. The music is so vibey, staff and bartenders are so kind. Drinks are too expensive either. Go to for a night out.
