Restaurant is set in beautiful quiet area. The food was delicious and great quality but we all wished it come out quicker! We were group of 6 adults plus 2 children and ordered the right amount of dishes to share as it’s a tapas style restaurant but every single dish came out one at the time and there was a big gap of time in between which was quite weird sharing small portion of food each time with so many people and you couldn’t enjoy it and mix it with other food which would make the experience much more enjoyable. All the stuff were professional and friendly except when all of us at the table agreed that the pedron peppers were extremely hot and we point that out to one of your younger waiter, but he hasn’t offered anything instead or take it off the bill, instead he said he likes them hot like that and that sometimes he even put tabasco sauce to make it more spicy, that was super unprofessional!!!!

We tried this out after a recommendation, it’s like POTL’s sister restaurant, it did not disappoint! Fresh seasonal dishes with friendly staff and great drinks. The setting is beautiful and would highly recommend.

Food was delicious but the setting is very deceiving compared to what you see online. You’re eating indoors in plastic chairs and tables and no views. The upstairs is a different venue which I assume is where the views are from. Definitely not a good ambiance but food was delicious

Fantastic spot for a meal, the food was delicious last night thank you. The service was also fantastic and I particularly liked how they dealt with allergens and were very clear to me on what I could and couldn’t eat! Lots of GF options! Yum

3rd visit and highly recommended the food was excellent but then you are paying top prices. The atmosphere is occasionally spoilt by loud music but otherwise great setting great staff and excellent food

We loved our meal at Barnaby's. The food and drinks (particularly the wine and cocktails!) were great and the staff were lovely and friendly. We particularly appreciated how much effort the staff made with our dogs as we were sat at the bar which is not always easy with dogs. We highly recommend this restaurant!

Have to say we werevery disappointed, we had been recommended to barnaby's and were looking forward to our visit . the value for the high prices just didn't meet our expectations. £61 for the gurnard- overpriced & pretentious . The food was fresh but uninspiring and the main fish we had was the gurnard well really can't believe what was offered. Come on guys do you really think it's that good and reasonable value for what you put in front of people ? Poor

The service was amazing, they do tapas style and the food is quite good. What really makes it is the scenery- follow the vineyard signs from the road, their sign is smaller and you don’t really notice it

Lovely setting in the hills just outside padstow. Restaurant itself is small and cosy, waiting staff were friendly and attentive. The food was good, not amazing but certainly decent. I do feel portion sizes were on the small side for the price but that’s the way it is. Tried some of the local wines from onsite which were also nice but £11.50 for a small glass of red seems a lot (You can buy the actual bottle for £25 upstairs…). Overall 4/5 as it was nice but not top marks!

Having read all the extremely positive reviews here I had high expectations and decided to bring my family to Barnaby’s while they were visiting me on a little Easter break. What a disappointment. First of all, I tried to call several times beforehand but had no luck. I left a voice message but no one ever called back. Already a bad sign. I should have known better. However, I wanted to give it a go out of curiosity and once we made it there I should say that staff were nice and the place looked well presented too. We felt really intrigued. Sadly though, apart from these, the food was a total joke: ‘tapas’ dishes shamelessly stripped of their original southern European concept to be reinvented in a ridiculously overpriced form. We ordered a £45 portion of lamb which had literally 4, and I do mean 4, small chunks of a not so tender or particularly tasty meat, on a bed of aubergine béchamel. The dish was basically the sauce and the meat on top was so tiny we felt the chefs were clearly taking the piss. We also ordered potatoes as a side, which was suggested to be served with the lamb after a series of ok-ish, nothing amazing but really, really tiny servings (again, we are not talking true tapas here, more like being stingy and getting away with the tapas idea) in the smallest tray ever, filled with their left overs: the remnants of potatoes that withstood a long day of Easter meals! We were shocked and I felt so bad for coming up with the idea of taking my family there. Honestly, there is no excuse to treat customers this way. While I understand things may run out - we went for dinner and the place was about to close down in an hour or so, we would have appreciated an apology. What we got were oily, overcooked and burned bits of potatoes, nearly inedible but we were so hungry after the meagre portions we received until then that we managed to eat those too. This was our last order - and straw. Watch out for the starters too: the bread and butter serving costed £5 and was made of super slim 4 half slices of sourdough bread (1 per person) with a dollop of butter. The labneh we ordered came with nothing to go with and we ended up eating it by the spoon (not the Middle Eastern way for sure) while the ‘boquerones’ were literally 2 anchovies split in half. How depressing. I could go on and on but will stop here. Needless to say, if you are in the area and wish to check out this place in the middle of the Cornish countryside by any means please do. If you want to eat some nice food made with local produce in a genuine atmosphere and with an acceptable balance between value and expenditure then do yourself a favour and head somewhere else.

A fabulous restaurant. Excellent locally produced food and fantastic waiters. We will be back. Highly recommended.

I visited this amazing restaurant on the 16/03/24 and what an amazing experience it was. 2 team members who are very experienced in what they do. There knowledge on the menu was perfection. The cocktails were unbelievable and overall the best food I’ve had in years. And to top it all off they were both in a cream Birkenstocks which made me get my out the wardrobe again. Can’t wait to revisit.

Really looked forward to the opening after the refurb, was a little underwhelming, great service, food good, perhaps expectations outweighed the experience? Couldn't complain, just wasn't wowed. This said couldn't complain so maybe being a little harsh. Would return, enjoyed, easily 4*

Amazing meal and service at this beautiful restaurant, the wine from the vineyard on site was also excellent. Stand outs were the burnt leeks, courgette lebnah, beetroot, scallops, sharing Turkish lamb but we couldn’t fault any of it. Thanks for accommodating us at the last minute, we had a perfect afternoon and will definitely return.

YOU MUST EAT HERE! Excellent service, lovely ambience, dog friendly. Near faultless food (I say near, I only had one dish that minorly underwhelmed me but really I’m being very particular here as a chef myself) Barbecue leeks, deep fried oysters, courgette labneh and the hake were my favourites. Crispy potatoes to die for. Dessert wine (from upstairs) was a highlight. (I went to buy some later it was that good). We ordered the right amount of dishes at our servers suggestion. I note the many comments about prices, portions and food not being to their tastes in some reviews. If you don’t have a curious palate or an interest in food I can understand why some of the dishes may not be to your tastes. As for price and portion, I disagree. The prices reflect and skill and experience required to create excellent food, and we left full and happy. Will happily return and recommend.

I ate last week at Barnaby's Trevibban, it really was superb, I had the Crab Toast, Corgette Labneth, Hake and Scallops, these small dishes were a really good size and ample for our lunch. Service excellent and the atmosphere was very relaxed. It was our best meal of the holiday. Justin

The food combinations didn't work for us (eg pork chop with lemon sauce). Their own pink cider was very different! The staff were very good.

We have visited the restaurant last week with our 2 dogs and a baby. The food was amazing and the bar staff very friendly however the restaurant’s manager made us feel very unwelcome and was very abrupt and not friendly. We have had only starters as the way we were made feel stopped us from having mains there which is a pity as the food was great. Based on our experience I will not be recommending the restaurant nor the local vineyards.

Without a doubt the best food we've eaten in Cornwall. Such a variety of flavours, and we loved the tapas style as it meant we could try a bit of everything. The staff were so knowledgeable of the food and came across as incredibly passionate. The staff were very helpful with one of our parties dietary requirements which can be rare when we visit North Cornwall. Thank you to the Barnaby's team for such a wonderful evening out.

We dined here for a late lunch on a wet & windy Summers weekend. The food was absolutely incredible - every single dish tasted sublime and was well thought through. You absolutely pay for the privilege but it was a real culinary delight. I’d recommend the crispy spiced potatoes!! Our only disappointment was that they had a very basic looking coffee machine that meant we didn’t want to waste our money or time ordering a coffee for fear of it being rubbish, and I would expect a more professional barista machine to better align with the quality of the food generally.

Wir hatten eine Weinprobe. Uns bediente eine mega freundliche junge Dame die sehr viel vom Wein verstand und uns alles super erklärt hat. Eine kleine Karte mit Speisen zum Wein welche aber sehr köstlich sind. Wir hatten das Käsebrett und die Variation vom Hummus. Haben zwei verkostete Weine mitgenommen. Sehr schöne Location, ruhig und in toller Natur. Vielen Dank für die schöne Zeit.

Lovely meal with great views out over the vineyard.

Good food. Lovely setting which feels like it could be a vineyard in the south of France. Sadly the waitress, while efficient, was pretty unfriendly and lacked charm. We were left feeling cold and as such I would not rush back.

Just stupendous. The dream team behind Prawn on the Lawn have done it again with Barnaby’s at the Vineyard. Such a relaxed, friendly vibe and yet the front of house team are fully ‘on it’ - you get that feeling you’re in safe hands so you can just chill. The new pop up venue is a beauty with airy indoor seating and views out over the vineyard’s wildflower garden. I could happily sit there all day and very nearly did. The food was on point. A really nice balance of inspiring and imaginative fish, veg and meat small plates with larger fish and meat sharing plates. On the day of our visit there was monkfish, Padstow lobster, cull yaw lamb and an insane pork chop. OMG that pork chop ❤️ Other high points were the scallops (of course) and a charred leek dish which tasted so much better than any leek has a right to taste. Cap it off with an interesting and reasonably priced wine list and I think it’s fair to say that team Barnaby’s have nailed it.

Haven’t stopped thinking about the crushed potatoes since I visited on Saturday. I’m not a fish eater but loved the veggie and meat options! One of the best meals out I’ve had in a long time! For the quality also reasonably priced

We had an amazing meal here, we ordered everything on the menu so can confirm it was all delicious especially the courgettes and the fried oysters! Staff were also brilliant can't wait to come back next time we're in Cornwall!

Had the most amazing meal tonight at Barnaby’s at Trevibban Mill. We shared some starters and small plates. We also shared some puddings and everything was loved by everyone at the table. We were squabbling over the last of everything. All the staff were very welcoming and super helpful checking in on us and making sure we had everything we need. The views over the vineyard and surrounding countryside was just lovely. Highly recommended!!

Have tried to make a reservation for weeks and realized they are now CLOSED.

We have eaten at Barnaby's several times, always a great meal with very attentive service and knowledgeable staff. We were so upset when a member of Barnaby's staff called us this week to cancel our booking because the restaurant has closed this month - May 2022 - "due to problems with the building." We're hoping Barnaby's will reopen at some point within the town of Padstow, but from the discussion when they called this did sound very unlikely.

Really lovely little gem of a restaurant in Padstow. Food was delicious, a great selection of veggie dishes too if you aren’t a meat eater. Staff friendly and very accommodating - we had our 4 month old with us and they let us squeeze our pram in despite the restaurant being very small. Would 100% recommend giving Barnaby’s a visit - book ahead though as it’s very popular!

I’ve been to many restaurants in my life that were overpriced for no reason but this one’s prices were worth 100% the quality that you get. Would recommend for sure! All plates were amazing 😍

Nice little restaurant with family vibes. The food is very nice, but none of the dishes really made our jaw drop. The place is very small and the service is nice, but the music fits more a beach club than a restaurant. The lemon sole and the oysters were probably the stars of the dinner, while the other dishes were just good, but nothing you’ve never tasted before.

Quite possibly one of the best meals we’ve had.. ever. Wonderful food, inventive, unusual, surprising at every turn. The tapas style was perfect for trying out so many different flavours. Super friendly staff, great ambiance and not a mouthful out of place. What a hidden gem!

Amazing food, we had a small selection of five dishes which were all perfect. The pistachio scallops in particular were lovely.

Next level food experience! The food was absolutely mouth wateringly Delish and the staff couldn’t be nicer! Highlights were the squash and whipped feta, chargrilled hispi cabbage and the lemon soul. AND THE POTATOES. LETS BUILD A SHRINE FOR THESE POTATOES HOLY MOLY KAJOLI! Would highly recommended if you’re visiting padstow. It’s also completely different to any other food we had in town.

Massive flavour in tiny plates. The deep fried oysters were spectacular. The staff were fab. I didn’t like some of the dishes but most were beautiful. I’m also not a fan of close, compact tables & it was very loud. On the whole, it’s worth a visit.

Avoid the obvious in Padstow and eat here . This was by far the best experience of my week holiday . The unique menu for sharing with fresh ingredients sourced locally and ethically was incredible. The restaurant is small and inviting with fantastic attention given to your individual eating experience . Barnaby’s support the Bumble bee conservation trust and add a discretionary £1 donation which I was more than happy with . Just go and eat here , you will not be disappointed.

Padstein's other Rick – Toogood by name and almost too good by nature. We enjoyed a fabulous, relaxed meal of many small dishes here. The back story is lovely and the food beautiful. Very much recommended.

We walked up on a busy day and the Kind gentleman at the restaurant said he could fit us in for an hour. The best hour of food and flavours I've had in a while. The food was so fresh and delicious. The staff were extremely helpful and was obvious they were proud of this little gem in padstow. I suggest booking a table so you can have the full experience. What an amazing restaurant.

Very rude staff, they barely looked at us and told us no, no we are not taking any customers. When I asked if there’s an online booking system they haven’t even replied

This was actually very good. I didn't like the window seat. Felt like sitting in a cafe, but the amazing food won me over. Children if 13 and 15 loved it too. Sea bass may have been best I have ever had.

What a restaurant. The team were fantastic and incredibly passionate about the food, where it’s produced and some great advice along the way. After much deliberation and agonising decision making, we decided on having 11 beautiful dishes from the main menu. We basically couldn’t miss out on anything! Mouth watering divine food. Thank you.

Four of us had a superb dining experience here about a month ago. The food was exceptional and the staff very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The price was not too shocking either, well worth a visit, highly recommended.

Top 3 dinners of my life. Flavours are exceptional. Local means fresh and these guys take it next level. The experience of dining is excellently balanced by the timing, temperature and portions of all dishes. Must have the scallops & the cauliflower!!!!!

Delicious and full of incredible flavour. Completely worth it, you can tell how passionate they are about the food when they serve it and tell you the best way to eat it etc. Stunning, mouthwatering and a must! We went for the scallops (they were like butter melting in your mouth) the popcorn mussels (very tasty coating) and some other various fish dishes. All with amazing flavour, locally sourced and great for sharing!

Delicious, fresh, imaginative and non pretentious food served with care and attention. A delight but sadly fully booked until October. Mind you that's the measure of the quality.

If you like your food, great service, quality drinks selection and well priced then this is the place for you.

The food here was excellent. Cost is as you would expect for an upmarket restaurant. Nice decor. Tiny wee place but they do what they can with it. Would definitely go back.

I can only agree with all the other glowing 5 star reviews. We ate here whilst on holiday and it was easily the best meal we had all fortnight. Much better than Rick Stein ! Food here is sublime and perfectly cooked. The waitress we had was the perfect mix of friendly but professional. Dont hesitate book your table now !

Came here bank holiday August to celebrate my mother in laws birthday. We had a lovely meal 4 weeks earlier in their sister restaurant - prawn on the lawn. Let’s start with the food. The Bread was very nice but didn’t come with anywhere enough olive oil. The mackerel was fantastic. The deep fried oysters are a must. The deep fried courgette flower in honey was amazing. The Ganard fish was just sublime and the T bone steak perfectly cooked. Beetroot dip was interesting but I wouldn’t order again. Sides in general were lovely. Let’s talk about the service. One of the waitresses was charming and friendly. However our experience was marred by another waitress who I honestly don’t understand why is working here. She was rude and made several unnecessary snide remarks. She made us feel very uncomfortable about having our children there even though they were very well behaved. As a result, sadly don’t think we will be coming back. Sorry.

We went to Barnaby's twice during our visit to Padstow. The food is amazing. Service was fantastic- the staff took time to greet you, explain their concept and were attentive for the whole time we were there. Please book a table before hand as lots of people were not able to experience their great tasty food. 10/10.

Small friendly intimate restaurant where we shared a wonderful meal. Thank you for being so accommodating to my young family and my mother and father in law especially with the wheelchair. The food was exceptional and service cheerful and friendly.

A hidden gem! Beautifully decorated, with tasteful Nicnacs. The food is absolutely outstanding! All cooked fresh to order, tapas style. Recommend the stuffed courgette flowers, the chicken croquettes and honey beer, delicious! The staff are very knowledgeable about the food they serve and are so friendly. All the produce is local and you can see exactly where everything has come from up on the boards above the bar. Thank you, we loved eating here! The optional donation to the bee fund on the bill is a wonderful touch too!

Another hidden gem! Small, sharing dishes, each one perfectly cooked to order. It's worth booking to avoid disappointment! We had the deep-fried oysters with a John Dory to share, and we left nothing but the bones! Delicious!

I live in Paris and this place can compete with the best restaurants there. Excellent meal and service.
