Barlounge in Cheshire West and Chester

Expensive but a great experience, great service and lovely food. The Super 8 Cherry Beer was a highlight for me.

I've been infrequently coming to bar lounge for years. But as always, even with new faces, they provided excellent service and drinks.

My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed a meal here last week, the service was attentive and the food was delicious. I highly reccomend the fish and chips! The cocktails were super adventurous & tasty. Thank you Barlounge :)

Three of us had a super lunch here. Definitely not a cheap pub lunch, but great food.

An absolute gem in Chester. We found this amazing place during our 4 day stay in Chester and visited 3 days in a row. My Grandma is in a wheelchair and they could not do enough to accommodate us and nothing was ever too much trouble. We received a friendly welcome each time and the atmosphere was impeccable, the food and cocktails amazing and a special mention needs to go to Nick who was always so welcoming and chatted with my gran and the rest of our party like an old friend. I cannot recommend this place enough. We will definitely be back.

Had meal booked for husbands birthday last Friday Went last year and had fabulous time. This year was even better. Greeted by Nick who found us a table for drinks before our meal. So pleasant and attentive. Then Ethan cleared a booth for us really quickly. Meal was stunning but staff were the shining star. It was really busy (as you would expect at Christmas) but Nick and Ethan treated us like we were the only two in there. Even gave my hubby a baby Guinness for his birthday!! Well done everyone. It's the staff that make a good restaurant.... and that's why we give you 5 stars. See you next year xx

Way too crowded, people scraping past each others body parts to get around the outdoor area. The starters were great, the main was ok. Either a staff member or customer took my just ordered drink. You could not hear any music that was playing.

Came here for pre drinks before a staff do elsewhere, service was excellent, it was quite busy but that didn't impede a wait time at the bar. Nice place.

This was just looking for an early dinner/late lunch and not getting pushed in a Christmas menu. OK you might say steak pepper corn sauce and Fries just that's normal!! Well our both steaks cooked absolutely perfect seasoned so nice the pepper 🌶 corn sauce very smooth and the fries stayed hot in there pot till the end. we both agreed £16.50 each was well worth it,even a few hours later we still had a lovely taste 💯 % recommend a visit

Lively for a Monday night, good atmosphere. Unfortunately didn’t get the name of the waitress but short slim girl with a fringe gave great service. Very very attentive. Drinks came fast. Food not as fast but worth the wait. Went for steak frites cooked medium. Perfect. Dessert was the espressotini , also very delicious. Gorgeous Christmas decorations. Lovely end to a festive trip to the city :)

I go to bar lounge most Sundays for a roast dinner and I visit often with friends for cocktails and snacks. Iv never once had a bad experience. The food and drinks are always 10/10

Lovely idea hot water bottles and fleece blanket for outdoor drinking plus heaters

Rude staff member especially waitress on the outside area. Beer below average. Beer served warm in winter is just a poor standard.

We came here the day after our wedding, late and dying. We were absolulty shattered and the manager that night was absolutely amazing! He made the evening for us. We came the next day to thank him, and get a pic with him for the memories. Will definitely return!

Can not praise this place enough we were booked in their other restaurant upstairs at the grill but decided to stay at the bar lounge for food as it looked so scrummy. The waitress was lovely and offered to cancel our booking, the food was amazing we had a sharing platter 😋 another great touch was one of the waiters from the grill came over with some haggis balls which were on the menu there for us to try honestly cannot fault, all the staff were lovely I was even brought a blanket as we ate outside will defo go to the grill next time but hats off to you all fantastic service which goes a long way 👏

Haven't been for years but we went for a birthday today and you can't fault the quality of service and food/drink

Called in for a quick drink on our way to somewhere else. £10 for a small glass of Pinot Grigio, WOW! I’ve never paid this much, ever. Not even in more upmarket restaurants. This place is nothing special whatsoever and to add insult to injury I noticed later, on the receipt, that I’d also been charged £2.70 as a tip. So four drinks + the tip came to nearly £40 !

Molly was an outstanding waitress and gave us amazing service during our entire time there. She was prompt and we barely asked for anything as she was ready with it already. 10/10 from us, the food was delicious and the cocktails were scrumptious ;) definitely coming here again!!

The service was without any friendliness. The roast dinner was ok especially the beef but served on cold plates which was a shame. Gratuity was added without asking.

Went with a large group about 2 weeks ago on a Saturday night. Never previously had a bad experience having had frequented this place during university. Unfortunately was very disappointed with my last visit. Pre-ordered food (mix of pizzas, sliders etc) was meant to be served to us at 6.30 and arrived around an hour late. We had to chase this multiple times after waiting a decent amount of time. When it finally arrived, food was very average. Not bad, but nothing to write home about. Then, even though we were served food very late we were asked to move off our table pretty much as soon as we had finished eating. Outside was okay but inside got so busy, staff were pushing past all the time to and from the bar/kitchen. To an extent, this was unavoidable, but found that a couple of staff members had a really rude attitude and basically just pushed you out of the way to get past. A polite “excuse me” wouldn’t have gone amiss. Drinks very overpriced but fine. Good music Really tainted my opinion of this place after previously having been multiple times. Won’t rush back.

We came to visit Chester on a whim during a day off from our hospitality jobs and came across this place for a couple of drinks. The staff were unbelievably nice and super helpful in writing us a list of places they would recommend on our little adventures around the town and even gave us a local map too. These guys do hospitality so so well and we will 100% be coming back in the future.

Called in here for a meal as it was nice and handy for our hotel, it was quite busy but still managed to get a table pretty easily, a bit of a limited menu but decided on the fish and chips and we were not disappointed, the fish literally melted in the mouth and was just beautiful, sticky toffee pudding for dessert was again beautiful and the best sticky toffee pudding I have had for a long long time, without doubt I would visit again when next in town.

Great food! We shared the tapas board and a pizza, all was great and definitely want to come back to try more of the tapas options. Sat outside even though it was raining but its all covered so was lovely.

Wonderful place to visit,high-end food and drinks,a really nice outdoor area to sit in the sun. Table service. Service charge on every bill, including drinks only, which can be annoying as drinks are higher than average price. But it is a quality place to visit. Walking distance to the race course.

Had our anniversary meal at Bar Lounge last night. Fab food (the burger was delicious) great service, friendly staff and great atmos with good dj too. Had a nice anniversary card on table too. Thanks for a great experience. Have been before many times and always great place. 👍😀

My wife and I often call in for a few drinks when visiting Chester. There's always a nice atmosphere, and the staff are always friendly and welcoming. There's an outdoor terrace, which has a retractable roof for those warmer days and nights. Happy to recommend to all. Top tip : Book a table if you want to sit out on the terrace area, especially at a weekend. P.S. haven't left a rating for the food this time, as we only had drinks.

Hello Barlounge Chester I believe you need some updating on cannabis regarding the law around Medical use of cannabis, when prescribed by a registered specialist doctor, was legalised in November 2018. Please inform your staff and bouncers not to discriminate against people and not to assault them for using a medication

Aggressive and power hungry bouncers, backed up by ignorant and two faced management. Imagine having a disability discrimination lawsuit against you. It would kind of suck wouldn’t it. Perhaps you should treat all people equally next time…

Very tired, dirty and run down place (both outside and inside). £8 for a 125ml of white wine absolutely ridiculous - that makes a bottle of wine £48 (Its not that expensive at decent upmarket bars). The place was only half full on a bank holiday, not surprising really. Went on to a very nice place called the Architect after and paid £6 for a 175ml !!!

Em was the best server, it was one of our group’s birthdays and she brought us balloons, shots and a birthday cake and was such a good host - highly recommend and give Em a raise!!

I knew it would be busy(Bank Holiday W/end)but I was told to vacate 3 Outside UNRESERVED tables because they were RESERVED. The manager told me that they don’t need to reserve tables and also told me to calm down as I was beginning to loose my rag I’ve worked in the industry for well over 40 years and if tables are reserved then put a RESERVED notice on them. In any case A place like this should have ‘walk in’ unreserved tables I landed up going back inside to sit on a large unreserved table I don’t often get B/Holiday W/ends off especially when the weather is nice also single females are penalised.

Went for lunch with the family and were accommodated in the outdoor seating area. Service was good as was the food.

Enjoyed my steak, but wanted more 😁

Popped in during a visit to Chester with the family. It was a lovely day and the terrace looked very busy. Did not have a reservation but said there was room inside. The place is contemporary very nicely finished, nice atmosphere very continental looking with the terrace and sunshine. The service was very good, the food from stater to dessert excellent including presentation and reasonably priced. Highly recommended will definitely visit again.

We arrived at Bar lounge Friday 2nd of August 2024 ,after 8pm we were very lucky to get a table for 4, because it was extremely busy . We were greeted by a lovely fella who we presume he was the manager found us a seating area . We ordered drinks from our table because it's table service which is brilliant took away the hassle of going to the bar. We told him that it was our friends birthday today. The atmosphere is brilliant with a great DJ playing all great music. About a hour of having drinks he brought out a drink for the birthday girl with a stand with sprinkles of happy birthday on and made us sing happy birthday which we thought was brilliant-such a busy evening to have the time to make a fuss of our friend was brilliant, going beyond the service you would think on such a busy night. This was brilliant. I would advise to book a table before coming here it is well worth considering to come here again, all the staff who looked after our area were brilliant too . We will be coming back here again to sample food , drinks area brilliant clean glasses ,tables and the atmosphere vibe is A1 ,well done all involved at Bar Lounge from the Fantastic 4 from Liverpool (2 dogs fighting Huyton) Ha ha ha.

Visited recently for a company summer party and loved it. The staff were very attentive, the food provided was excellent. Colleagues had a great time going through the cocktails menu. I went for the IPA choices and must say I was very pleased. It is very busy and as long as I can remember always has been so book in advance.

I absolutely lived my visit to Barlounge, and not even the bad weather could dampen the mood. Our servers were lovely, and I thoroughly enjoyed the beer they recommended for me, and the atmosphere was perfect. Would definitely recommend it!

All the staff we engaged with were fantastic and friendly (despite the Euros final not being aired and my small party being Scottish!). My steak and frites (medium rare) were cooked to perfection and the 2 pizzas were sizeable and tasty. Well done (sorry England)!

In a group of 4 ladies. Lovely place but younger end clientele. Prices not bad. Didn't eat there.

The Sunday roast was delicious, cheesy cauliflower bake is a side to be recommended. Had small plates for starters and were scrummy.

We had a range of starters and sides (loaded fries, pizzette, hummus, and chicken bites) which were all amazing. The only downside was that the only Sicilian-style pizza on the menu comes in the form of the pizzette starter, and although they advertise their regular pizzas as being Sicilian, they are in fact the thin, crispy crust pizzas.

The meal was described as Satay, almonds. My friend ( a visitor from the USA) had an anaphylactic reaction to the sauce, it was peanuts not almonds. No one had asked about allergies!! Luckily she had an epipen and was able to get to the hospital in time otherwise the outcome could have been catastrophic. My disgust with this company lies in the fact that they didn’t attempt to help at all, tried to get the girls to sign a form which released BarLounge from culpability and made them pay for the meal before they let them leave to go to the hospital. The attitude of the staff was horrendous. Luckily the staff at The Countess of Chester were phenomenal and essentially saved her life.

Extremely friendly person when making the reservation. The outside area is cozy and there are heaters for cold evenings. I would recommend making a reservation for dinner, especially on weekends. It was often full there.

Good all round place to eat and drink

If you want to spend a nice evening with music with live DJs, come here. He had a drink and listened to some good music. Then if there is a horse race during the day, which is always an event in Chester, you will find people dressed extremely elegantly and the women wearing bright dresses with their beautiful hats. The staff is very friendly and serves very quickly Trendy place, worth a try if you pass by. If you liked the review you can leave a like so you can help me grow in the community

Great value food, staff very pleasant and accommodating to any request. Made very welcome. Although we didn't have them, the 3 plates offer looked fabulous so there's always next time.

Very strange, went in for a drink and they told us it was shut… as we were walking out they let a table of 5 in for drinks. Baffled!

Let's start with the music. Not too loud that talking is that impossible. Food..Epic. all fresh all house made. Sauces are superb. Service is immaculate. Girls serving are polite and helpful, ready to help in any way. Decor is lovely, clientele are polite. Not a place for the rude and the drunk. Nice place to drink, eat, and meet & greet. Bit pricy, but I'm a northern lad. Don't want to pay full price for anything. 😊 Happy to come again.

Had a very nice lunch today, the staff made our day, especially the young man called J, who was so lovely and polite and attentive. What a nice young man, sometimes the service makes all the difference to a restaurant. We informed the manager what great service we had. The food was brilliant too….try the cauliflower satay. Great place to chill out and enjoy a few drinks. Service was great and the atmosphere was good. We sat outside which was very nice and although it was busy it wasn't over crowded.

A youngsters bar in the main but all welcomed and made to feel very comfortable. One female staff member was on her 2nd day working in BarLounge, she was so friendly whilst being very efficient. We were a table of five sharing a Food Platter which was delicious. Chester is a wonderfully happy place and BarLounge was a good choice to rest and enjoy with exceptionally good food.

Went for a Sunday roast, food was lovely, but a bit overpriced

Despite having booked a table for 9 people weeks in advance, the bouncer was immediately rude and turned us away, citing an issue with the dress code (apparently a plain black t shirt with a small logo on the chest is a “sports top”). Having been put through to a manager on the phone, they were completely unapologetic and although they eventually asked if we were still nearby and asked us what we wanted to do next, they repeatedly said that they are “very clear about the dress code”, which is apparently smart casual. Having re-checked the website and all email correspondence with staff during the booking process, I can see absolutely no mention of a dress code, and “smart casual” is about as ambiguous a dress code as there is. Needless to say, very disappointed with our experience and think it should have been dealt with much better by bar lounge staff.

It has been the bank holiday weekend - so def busy! We had booked for 2pm (would def do that again) the service was great and the food was excellent. Highly recommend.

After a trip around the shops on a mid March Sunday afternoon, we found ourselves outside the Barlounge and decided to treat ourselves to a cocktail. We were so glad we did. What a lovely place the Barlounge is. The staff were so welcoming. attentive, courteous & smiling. They genuinely looked happy in their work which I believe is essential in the hospitality business. We sat on the terrace, the heaters were on, the atmosphere was lovely and the Cocktails were a delight. So happy were we that we decided to order food, ordering off the 3 for £20 Bites & Board offer. The food was cooked to perfection, scrumptious and very satisfying. When a few drops of rain began to fall, the staff were quick to get electronic canopy over so as not to disturb or spoil the visit of their customers. We loved the place and returned for lunch on the following day before setting off on our journey home. It hadn't been a dream, the staff were just as equally lovely as was the food. We will definitely be returning to the Barlounge on our next visit to Chester. Well done to all involved there, you should be very proud. Thank you Mike & Sally

Not a problem with barlounge, but their security firm are absolutely terrible, and judging by previous reviews read, we’re not the only ones with a bad experience from them! Last night we had a party booked in and myself and a friend were a little later than the rest. Upon arrival we were told by the bouncer “you’re in trainers, not a chance”. We then had to have the host of the party come and talk to him, and tell him she was going to speak to the manager. He then changed his mind he let us in. He then proceeded to say “no thank you then no?” When we hadn’t even entered yet and was extremely intimidating towards us. The entire time we were there he was staring and watching us although we were just sat at the table we had booked and spent well over £300 at last night. We then looked around and there were countless girls in trainers who had no issues getting after speaking to a couple in the toilet. On the way out I walked past him and my friends followed. He was overheard speaking about me to another doorman and staring at my other friend who was not in heels. We spoke to the girl who looked after our party to make her aware of our experience and she could not apologise enough and informed us she would speak to the manager as there was no reason we should not have been allowed in as you are allowed in in the shoes we were wearing. Her name was molly and she couldn’t have been more understanding and took our feelings into consideration. The only thing I can recommend is that their security firm is updated on dress codes and not so rude towards paying customers. Sometimes I really think your face just doesn’t fit.

Excellent service and food was delicious especially the crumble. The young lady that served us was very Friendly and helpful and everyone was so accommodating. Will definitely return next time we are in Chester. Thank you 😊

Most wonderful things in here it's the staff ,food very good, And they serve one beer that it's So good it's from Wales called POLLY grazie for nice meal 😋
