Fancy Mayfair pub which regularly gets overwhelmed (as was the case for us) by groups from a nearby hotel (the bar staff explained to me when I asked whether it was always this busy). Wouldn't dream of eating there because of the crowding so no comment about the food. Shame as the interior decor and overall quality of the place was very good, maybe if you are lucky you will enjoy a visit when it is quiet.

A charming and welcoming atmosphere, perfect for both a casual drink and a hearty meal. The decor blends traditional British pub style with modern touches, creating a cozy vibe. The menu features a great selection of classic pub fare, and everything I tried was well-prepared. The fish and chips were particularly impressive, with crispy batter and fresh fish. The staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant dining experience. One downside was that it can get quite busy during peak hours, which made service a bit slower at times. However, the overall experience was enjoyable, and I look forward to returning for another visit.

I Called as my wife is vegetarian and wanted to ensure there was the veg option, they said yes and we went. When ordering, they said there was not any on the veg option available and would give all the roasted veg as complimentary. My wife did not want to make a fuss and she agreed Starters were fantastic. French onion soup and mussels for me. I decided to go for the lamb as my main and being known for its carvery options we waited a little longer than what I would expect being that there were only two other tables that had customers. however when the food came out, it was just average lukewarm and the gravy, although I should have mentioned earlier contained beef. when I asked the onion veg Gravy, they bought out a vegetarian/vegan option which was beetroot gravy, not something that I fancied pudding on my very very mediocre warm (maybe cooked and left under a hot lamp) Yorkshire puddings. Overall disappointed with the experience given that it had good reviews. Service was nice, but need to work on the food.

I popped in to the Barley Mow a few days ago, for the first time in at least a decade. And, good news this, it hadn't changed. Between ourselves, it would be amazing if it had: A traditional looking London pub in the heart of Mayfair really can't fail. The booze was reasonably well-kept, the service was fast and friendly and, next time I'm in the area, preferably in cooler weather, I'll even try the food!

one of the highlights of our trip to London was trying to get away from the very touristy areas of Mayfair and stumbling upon this little pub around the corner. All the streets nearby were fairly quiet, but this pub was full of many people standing both outside and inside. Very historic looking building and great attention to detail in the architecture and interior design! The pub itself is fairly small with not a lot of seating, but the bartender was friendly and it was a good atmosphere inside - we felt more like locals than tourists being in here and we’d love to visit again one day

Absolutely dreadful experience. If I could give 0 starts I absolutely would. I’ve booked a table for my mother to celebrate her birthday. We all arrived in good spirits to celebrate it and it so happened that the birthday is on the same day as the Euros. The lady on the phone informed us that they are showing football downstairs and it’s walk ins only. Upon arrival we’ve ordered food (which was nice) but there was a room with TV upstairs. My mum asked if it’s possible to book that room for later and what are the options upon which a very snobby I guess manager (based on him wearing different uniform) talked down to her. My mum speaks very good English, and there was absolutely no necessity to talk down to her like that. It was rude, absolutely insensitive and disgusting. As an expat himself the person who did that to her should be aware that talking down and disrespecting anyone like that and chewing words out loudly and slowly just because a person has an accent on their birthday is a dreadful thing, especially in the current climate. This shouldn’t be allowed at all. Don’t recommend this place as for the price you paying you get talked down. You can get way nicer experience at a restaurant of higher level.

Very disappointing. One of the most expensive roasts in London and sadly one of the worst I've ever had. Very poor value, you pay £38 for roast beef and only get roast potatoes and a Yorkshire pudding! You pay £31 for the "roast pork", which is basically bacon and is served with pineapple (on a Sunday roast?!) and again only roast potatoes. The gravy was like water and the sides are £6 each to complete your roast. It is a lovely venue and the staff were nice, however the service was also very slow. It has a lot of potential, but there is a lot of work to do on this in my opinion.

Charming, prompt service, Delightful dining room- airy, stylish. Moderately busy but easy to chat properly with no distraction. Menu is british classics done perfectly. We had scotch eggs and Sunday roasts. Scotch egg was from duck egg and with wild garlic mayonnaise, delicious. Roasts were spot on- I had slow cooked pork belly. Good wine list and full bar selection (my friends fancied properly pulled Guinness). Very hard to fault and do shortlist this for any trip to London.

Modern, lighter twists on traditional dishes - pie and mash; chicken Kiyev; faggots and peas - all reworked into fresher takes, perfect for midweek supper and leaving just enough room for delicious puddings. One of my favourite pubs in Mayfair, with a proper focus on food in the smart upstairs dining room. The kind of place where, on the back of the menu, they list all of their suppliers - like excellent seafood from Wright Bros. The menu has a mix of pub classics (my friend said his beef pie was exceptional) and interesting variations - among the best was the duck & wild garlic scotch egg, and the truffled potato croquette. The service from Joe and AJ was friendly and efficient, and the dinner was rounded off with a tasty lemon meringue pie. Even if you’re not dining, the bar area downstairs is great for a pint if you’re in the area.

Only popped in for a coffee, expected to pay a fairly high price and wasn't disappointed although £9 for two coffees isn't outrageous for Mayfair I suppose. What did surprise us was that, given that it took a while to arrive, what there was of it, which wasn't much, wasn't exactly hot. What further surprised us was that it was served in quite badly chipped cups and that the coffee itself was no better (in fact considerably worse) than Gregg's or Weatherspoons. The staff were absolutely fine and from what I saw of the bar food it looked ok.

Probably the worst Sunday Roast experience I’ve had since moving to London 3+ years ago… We made a reservation for Sunday 2pm, so it wasn’t even peak hour - ordered Sunday roast (the most common dish ever, the Sunday special) and had to wait for more than 70mins! Every once in a while a waiter would come and say “2 more minutes” and proceed to ignore us for another 20; in the end food arrived at 3.20pm. Once food arrived, the waiters kept coming by every literally 2 mins to ask if we wanted more drinks, more sides, more food (all of this while we were eating). Sunday roast + a pint (not even a dessert) and sharing bread among 3ppl ended up £60+ pp!!!! How is that even possible? I was genuinely shocked The location is cozy and nice for a pub but the tables are so close one to the other that it’s impossible to talk/relax - I would say this is comparable to a normal pub but not something I’d expect from a place that wants to be on the higher end (given 2x+ prices)

Avoid if you aren’t a local- snobby, uptight staff. Traveling from NY on New Years Day and this was one of the few pubs with reservations on open table. Since most places were closed, we booked it. Upon arriving we had who I assume to be the manager tell us they “want to go home” and “why did you come?” -well, if a restaurant is open, it seems logical to book it. Moments later he came back to let us know that he closed the remainder of reservations on open table so they could go home, among more condescending remarks. We felt so uncomfortable we ended up cancelling our orders and leaving. If I could give 0 stars for service, I would.

My partner and I were visiting for the day. We were really looking forward to visiting your restaurant after reading the reviews and menu. It was our first time at The Barley Mow . Upon arrival it was chaos we walked around, the world into what felt like a service kitchen with food plates piled high and littered ly had nowhere to move, it felt really awkward. Eventually somebody addressed us, reassuring us that he would just clean a table for us as it had been manic. Without further a doo we were sat and asked if we would like still or sparkling water … Menus were given with no drinks menu, then the question would you like any other drinks ?! Blind, however I knew what I fancied and that was some fizz, my partner the same we were not given a choice which is a real shame because when we were given a drinks/wine menu I noticed that you offer an English sparkling from the Gusbourne estate . Personally I think if you put an English sparkling on your list you should champion it ! Feeling a little rushed by our very sweet but green waiter we ordered a couple of small plates to have with our drink. The crab puff as you call it was in n the caramelised side and stone cold sadly and the croquette tepid and fairly tasteless. Felt like we turned up 2 hours late to a house warming if that makes sence. Like they been keeping warm under the lights . We both ordered the roast, myself the beef and my partner the lamb with a side of celeriac tarteflette. We ordered a bottle of wine to which the waiter proceeded to try and open with a corkscrew when in fact he just simply needed to screw the cap off 😮 The roast arrived looking delicious and we were both looking forward to tucking in. All of the elements tasted as they should but yet again it was not very hot but I’d decided that it seemed to be the norm. Nobody checked our meals were ok, and the staff seemed to dissappear with the what seemed to be restaurant manager focusing on some friends of his and proceeded to sit down at their table . We were offered desserts and took the chocolate mousse and the crumble with wine pairing . It didn’t really get much better to be honest other than the crumble was actually HOT yay 🙌 my partner ordered custard and it was served with ice cream which they did correct but it took time. The chocolate mousse I can only describe as tasty but the presentation was shocking the server spooned the remnants of a bowl onto my side plate with butterscotch sauce and a few pieces of honey comb. Totally underwhelmed and the wine pairing really did not compliment. On this occasion. All in all a real shame. Yes we had a couple of things taken off of the bill for the inconvenience but frankly that’s not the point. The experience just makes me sad because not only did the restaurant let us down it let itself down. We like most don’t do this very often and we had such a good feeling going into this but left feeling bitterly disappointed and underwhelmed. Either you had a bad day at the office or something has changed either way take note because it really was not good enough.

This is a great pub with a bar downstairs and restaurant upstairs. We went for Octoberfest. The dinner was very good especially the Vienna Schnitzel and game dishes. Very atmospheric and a lovely ambience. Very good service from George who made our evening special. We will definitely go again.

Came with my Dad for a Sunday lunch, it was lovely and calm in there. The staff were amazing and welcoming and they made it a great experience! I had the croque monsieur and my Dad had the roast, both delicious :)

The menu advertised on the web and outside the restaurant was not available. All we had was a very short menu - which was highly meat orientated. Only fish was deep fried fish and chips. No real vegetarian options. This really not good enough - hard to leave when we were there already - disappointing as was a birthday treat - service was slow and off the pace. In all honesty not what I expected from this group which has a good reputation -

A must-see for anyone who appreciates the decorative arts, for anyone looking for people who dared to live their dreams and change the state of things and confront the standard. William Morris was all this and much more. The visit is inspiring, I was particularly touched that he believed in his wife and encouraged her to go further at a time when women were appendages to their husbands and female education was not considered necessary or useful. What's more, he believed in other women and provided trades so that they could be more autonomous. After visiting the gallery, I came to understand why there are so many antique shops in the neighbourhood and why Morris' prints can be found in many local businesses. There's a market that sells post-walk treats and a souvenir shop for all budgets. Entry to the permanent exhibition is free and the staff are friendly and helpful.

Went with friends at the week end. Best cake I've ever had . At £13 a slice & £7 for a single shot of expresso, I'll be having to save up before i visit again. 🤑🙄🫢. £7 for a shot of expresso. Wow . Better to have a cup at the Corinthian or Claridges!!!

This place is great if you enjoy paying £30+ to watch someone pull a bottle of gin from the freezer, pour it directly into a cocktail glass and call it a martini

My wife and I were looking for some Thai food and saw this on Google and were a bit apprehensive seeing that it was also a pub. Walking in we were immediately greeted by the guys behind the bar, even when they had a number of customers they were serving, and asked what drinks they can get for us. We were clearly confused on where the Thai restaurant was and the guy was very friendly and showed us the way to the stairs and we took our drinks upstairs. The restaurant had just the chef to cook and wait tables and he was very friendly and the food tasted great. A bit weird when you're not expecting that setup with the pub but once we were there we loved it. Again, super friendly bar and chef upstairs and we felt very welcomed and comfortable the entire time.

Lovely hotel in a very busy bit. Not a place to try to drive to as there is little parking, pollution charges. Taxi, Underground good to go. Black Taxi a bit more expensive than Uber but Uber drivers have to Pay £50 for entering the City centre so to be fair use black cabs. Either that or book the same Uber driver in and out to help cover the additional cost. All you would expect in the hotel and bar as you would expect for this high-level establishment.
