Proper little pub beside the Oxford Canal. Although in a residential area , just step behind the buildings and you are in the peaceful environment of the canal. Lovely lovely walk to the left or the right. Wander through the Newbold Tunnel with it fabulous echoes or take a stroll along the canal into Rugby. Can't comment on the accommodation as we were there for one night in our motorhome. Friendly welcoming landlord , nice pint and buzzing atmosphere in the bar. Would recommend.

The Managers were so friendly and hugely accommodating to us. We were on our boat and they were lovely, helpful and lots of fun. Also on the Sunday, we had planned to cruise back to our Marina but the weather was appalling so we went back to the pub and asked about eating there again. It was Mothering Sunday and they were heaving so they didn't think they'd be able to accommodate us but they asked us to hold on and not give up. Towards the end of their extremely busy service, they managed to squeeze us in and were, once again, so friendly and accommodating, checking on us and that the food was fine etc. They are both fantastic people and great managers. We can't wait to return again soon. Thank you to the Barley Mow and their managers but also the locals were lovely and lots of fun too. Thank you Barley Mow.

Probably the only pub for miles around that serves food on a Monday. And to get that we had to order before 7pm. The only real ale tasted of detergent and had to be changed for something else. The two things on the menu we wanted were not available. The breaded mushroom starter was so over-fried that it splintered everywhere when I put a fork through it and the burger whilst very large was over-grilled. Staff were pleasant and the pub is clean and tidy. But the quality of the food and drink let it down badly.

All needs were catered for easily and I was really impressed both with the quality of the food provided for the party (pulled pork & baps, accompaniments, sausages etc for the kids) and the decorations. The service was great and the staff couldn't of been more welcoming although we did over hear the landlord having a nasty tone with a couple members of staff and seemed to be very intoxicated and stumbling in and out of the pub. We returned on Sunday for lunch as it's highly reccomended and really enjoyed our meal and was again impressed by service of all the staff on shift however we will not be returning due to the landlord and land lady seeming to have some serious issues with each other and broadcasting it across the pub/restaurant, there choice of language was unacceptable where family's are present and is really not a good look on them or the pub which is sad as the service and team of staff is spot on, Scrolling through the reviews this seems to be a regular occurance of them drinking and having personal disputes in public.

A gem of a pub that has a great selection of ales and beers. Staff were happy and nothing seems too much trouble. The new menu is just what the pub needed and the Sunday Lunches are even better than they were.

Wednesday 2/4/2024 7pm. The beef looked great but it lacked taste and was very chewy. The Turkey was acceptable I guess but very ordinary. The Yorkshire pudding had obviously sat under the hot plate for too long and was brick- like and inedible. The rest of the vegetables were more or less ok but the cauliflower was under-cooked. The service was also ok but we were let down by the food on this occasion.
