Best coffee for miles and breakfast delicious too

Silly indiscriminate policies. A quiet sat morning at 1030am with the cafe only a third full. I opened my laptop to browse the Internet and was immediately halted. This is an example of an arbitrary and disproportionate policies. The cafe had 20 seats empty. I would be there for 30min. Whatever I'm doing on my laptop I would do on my phone anyway. It would just help with a bigger screen. But 'no', management insist. And by the way, I deliberately sat at the table without the "laptop free" sign they put up. 1. I'm not sure the policy, as is, makes complete sense. What if people don't use their laptops but spend an hour reading a book? 2. Even if it does, give your staff the discretion to waive or enforce. 3. They could have said if we get busy could you stop using the laptop. Won't be back here for sure! Not friendly, indiscriminate policies and the coffee isn't even great.

We were here today, and the coffee was amazing. There were two female baristas who were very kind and professional at their work. We were very satisfied and will definitely come back for another great coffee in this beautiful café.

Had an amazing experience at "Barista - On the other side"! The cozy atmosphere and excellent service made every moment special. The drinks were delicious and carefully crafted, and the food was just fantastic, perfectly complementing the beverages. I popped in because I live nearby and it looked cosy and inviting from across the road. And sure enough, it is really mellow and nice inside. It was warm, a great start, and I love the decor, it's modern yet welcoming, not sterile. I also really like the three big pot plants, they make such a difference. The lighting and fittings, also extremely pleasing. Friendly, professional staff and excellent coffee, so this is a café I will be returning to soon.

Coffee shop with a modern atmosphere. Coffee is good quality. Nice selection of cakes and pastries. Tried the banana bread, which tasted nice but a touch dry for my taste. Large menu with brunch options and entrees. Several wines to choose from. Convenient for finchley road underground.

A 'no laptop' table policy is both absurd and pretentious. The café only offers four tables where laptops are allowed, so if you want to enjoy a full breakfast with coffee and juice while getting some work done, you're out of luck. Even when all the other tables are empty, you're not allowed to sit at one with your laptop—how discriminatory. To make matters worse, the loud music doesn’t create a welcoming atmosphere to stay and relax. Although I’ve been here before, this visit will definitely be my last, which is a shame because the food and coffee are actually good. Adding insult to injury, there’s a 90-minute time limit per table, as indicated by a note on the table. Ridiculous.

Great atmosphere, beautifully decorated inside and great friendly staff. However my Turkish eggs, the eggs were overcooked, like they'd been cooked ahead. There was too much yoghurt. The coffee was great and smooth.

A beautiful, large café with excellent coffee and food. There is usually seating available. The decor and lighting is relaxing, with an intimate vibe. The high quality of coffee and food options are good for me as a vegetarian. My friends also enjoy meeting there. And the staff work hard to provide a positive experience.

Good atmosphere. There are few issues while I was there. Not many choices in pastry and cakes. Very limited in sandwiches choices. Coffee was little bit sour (Less than cafe Nero) and latte has lots of froth on top (1/3rd of glass-cup). My food was ok look but wasn’t well presented and of course it was quite bland. I have asked for poached egg extra but they couldn’t make it (Just fried egg or scrabble). Girls were nice but aren’t professional for customer service. There are opened for a long time now and shame it’s not a wow experience. Something about £12 for my brunch and that coffee must be nicer!! Will I go there again? I WILL NOT.

Went there for brunch with girls friends to catch up. It’s very clean with a good vibe. Staffs are also friendly and nice. Although the waitress forgot bringing the extra bacon that I ordered with my salmon breakfast…😅 but they immediately made it for me. Before we leave, they even gave each of us almond croissant 🥐 as an apology, which is so kind! We had a great time there!

I had a really strange experience here - ordered and paid for a lemonade (they offer this on the menu stating it’s made with mint and maple syrup). For some reason it took over 30 minutes for me to receive my drink despite the fact that I could see the lemonade jar on the counter and there was lemonade inside of it. My friend (who ordered after me) received his hot drink and hot food very quickly so it wasn’t a case of me having to wait my turn or them being too busy to serve. I had to follow up multiple times and each time the waitresses were dismissive and sort of laughed me off…it was really strange. When I finally received my lemonade they weren’t apologetic. Truly bizarre. Not sure why there was an issue but it’s put me off visiting there again

AVOID this cafe if you need to work. I visited this (almost empty) cafe as I needed to take an important 20-minute work call on my laptop. The waitress/barista stood next to my laptop the entire time, repeatedly interrupting me to insist that I order something. It was very disruptive and unprofessional. While the coffee was good, this is not a place for those needing to work. Look elsewhere if you need to use your laptop.

A very nice cafe with a good atmosphere. There are several tables where laptops cannot be used so that they are not occupied for too long (I couldn't see if they were all the tables in the cafe or just some, but I think all the ones in the front at least), but I spent a while I spent a couple of hours waiting for someone and no one bothered me or rushed me. Do yourself a favor and try the croissant with almond paste, it's spectacular.

I had a wonderful time at a cafe with a friend today. The welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff made us feel right at home. The coffee was rich and aromatic, while the cookies were perfectly soft on the inside, loaded with chocolate chips. The cozy interior and soft music created a relaxing ambiance, making it an ideal spot for a chat. Highly recommended for anyone looking for tasty coffee and cookies!

I have been coming here consistently, at least 4 times a week. I've been to many cafes in the neighbourhood, but this is the best one for me. The sandwiches are great for a light meal, and the pasta is especially delicious. There is a separate area where you can use your laptop, the seats are comfortable and it's a great place to spend time. The staff are always smiling and welcoming. One of the staff, Sonal, is always smiling and welcoming every time I visit.

My husband and I love to come for brunch here. They have amazing veggie and vegan options and the coffee is great ☺️

I’ve been coming to this coffee shop for over 3 years and I love it. The quality of the food is amazing and the coffee is very good. I’m so picky with my cappuccinos and the barista’s skills are amazing. The foam is sooo velvety 🤩 The staff are very kind and friendly and always make you feel comfortable. I’ve tried a lot of coffee shops in London and this one is top quality! P.S The music is also really good 💃🏻

This is by far the best cafe in the area. I go regularly for brunch; the staff are very welcoming; the food is excellent and the atmosphere is relaxing. The interior design is akdo very well thought through.

Barista is the best coffee shop in the entire Finchley Road area. The coffee is great, they have the most delicious variety of quality cakes and their omlettes are the best, fresh and lovely. The team is cheerful and upbeat and it’s a joy coming in. I love that it’s mostly run by women! Visually it’s pretty nicely done up to, with good instrumental music. Excellent location, bang opposite Waitrose. Highly recommend it.

When I’m in London visiting my family this is my favourite spot to have an awesome coffee and pastry…. Get one of the filled croissant…. Omg …. The best The other reason is the music they play, if you like your chill out vibes but sundown Ibiza stylee then here’s your spot…. Staff awesome too

Loved this place since day 1. I'm not a coffee person but this is the only place I’m happy to pay for mine. No doubt their coffee and bakery served in great quality and I can see the managers are taking a good care of their interiors too. However, certainly they need to train their staff better. I used to visit here 5 times a week, but I found their staff being super rude that sometimes ruin my days. Although Im not using laptop, even how they deliver food was super annoying. Because of their service, l have been hesitated to visit their shop again as I don’t want to ruin my day by spending my own money. Certainly they need to work on their service.

A nice cosy place, but very anti-computers. They only have a few tables for laptop users to use, and when I came on a Saturday they turned me away because they don't allow computers on weekends. They're a coffee shop, what do they think they're here to do?

Friendly and professional team, very spacious that even when it was busy you would not feel overwhelmed by the crowd. A cosy yet vibing neo-industrial decor, this cafe has designated tables for laptop users, making this the perfect place for parties of any size and needs. They serve a good selection of cakes, sandwiches and pastries. The coffee is really good, I was served a very beautifully made cappuccino, with a very thoughtful latte art. The portion of their beverages are also large, I ordered regular but it is easily equivalent to a large elsewhere.

Average coffee, cake ok, I visit becuase it’s convenient between meetings but would not visit otherwise. Observed staff being very nice to regulars but barely a word to me. Very hostile to anyone even opening a laptop so beware if you plan to visit between meetings as I did. Even for 2 minutes and the staff will be over to tell you off.

Kinda divided about this one. It's a popular place with locals, has a cozy yet stylish vibe and always a positive atmosphere. Having said that, my coffee nearly always is burnt and has a very sour note to it. Girls working behind the counter also seem rushed and impersonal. Food is okay but very standardised what you can get pretty much in each brunch place. I think if girls pay more attention in how they make the coffee (meaning its not rushed++ therefore burnt), this place has a good potential.

Always a treat to come here, the vibe is so upbeat and the food is great! The darker lighting and music set the mood for a nice "chill after work" atmosphere. Really enjoyed this after a night shift. Just wish there were better parking options in the area.

It so good in this day and age to find a family run coffee shop. Barista On The Other Side opposite Waitrose outside Finchley Road station is the place. High end inside décor great coffee, tea, and lots of other fresh drinks. Large range of great fresh food on offer. Smartly dressed staff who are very attentive and ready to help. What also appeals to me is the laptop warriors are separated from those of use who want time away from office and enjoy having a great coffee and great food. Well done Barista On The Other Side and staff. TW

Great place for breakfast in front of the tube station. It is very vibrant and always busy. I like to have breakfast here with a big cup of cappuccino.

Hubby had a mozzarella and veggies croissant which he loved and I got avocado on buttered sour dough toast along with some beer. Interesting vibe, friendly staff.

Pret, Costa, Nero, Waitrose welcome laptop users all across the street. Lol. Sad but it is true laptop users who smoke need to puff off, 😆. A very tight restriction on laptop users even if you are learning to knit your first ever scraf 😆🤣😂. However, during lockdown when my friend's and family used it often it was okay, rules changed. Sigh 😕. Pret, Costa, Nero, even Waitrose less than 50 steps away great coffee and food plus laptop friendly. Spoke to owner manager today he offered free coffee so anyone who is upset free coffee available 😉. No don't just joking.

Nice place, limited serving abilities waited for a while to order as they all seem to speaking in another language and ignore us. Head waitress moved us twice for use of specific tables due to us having a meeting where we used our laptops. Apparently you have limited spaces to meet if you use a laptop are we back in the 1970's? So right at the time of starting our food we had to move tables again because we were now not using our laptops. Then she came back and moved us again. Other than that the experience was great! If you are looking for a average place to chill, eat and meet find another place. But if you want a nice atmosphere, average to good food this is the right place.

The best coffee in town. The food is to die for, creatively done and absolutely delicious. The staff are warm and welcoming and you can feel a wonderful atmosphere from the moment you step in. It was three of us and we were all looked after and left very happy. Will definitely go back and HIGHLY recommend this place.

I’ve been all over the world and that’s a first ! Odd rules here, wouldn't recommend. Stopped by on a Sunday with my iPad for some journaling and gaming. They hit me with a "no laptops on Sunday" rule. Felt really awkward about it and left. If it's not a fine dining spot, what's the problem with iPads? Wonder if a notebook would've been okay. 🤣😂 Never coming bk 👎🏻

Barista on the other side is by far the best cafe on the Finchley Road. The coffee has an amazing flavour and the staff really know their stuff as Baristas, it’s my favourite coffee in the area and they use Allpress, which has a full flavour and not watery like in lots of coffee shops. They have delicious food: brunch, toasted ciabattas, cakes and lovely fresh juices. The staff are so sweet and helpful and the owner clearly retains his staff by being lovely as well. He’s often around and is friendly and chatty. I’ve been coming here for over a year and most of the staff seem to be the same team, which is so nice for regulars. Great place, lovely atmosphere, fast Wi-Fi and an outdoor seating area as well. It’s conveniently located opposite Finchley Road Station so we often pick up a coffee on the way to work or before an outing into town on the weekends. I’m a huge fan as you can tell! Pay a visit, you’ll love it too.

Great stuff, great coffee, great food

Terrible customer service, we sat down and was about to start a meeting and was approached by the waiter who proceeded to inform us that we could not use our laptop which was just for taking notes, we then informed the lady we would only be 45 minutes but she still continued to say we couldn't use it, I've never experienced this type of behaviour from any coffee shop, also the table legs were ridiculously close the seats so I banged my leg on the way in which really hurt, just a terrible establishment and wouldn't recommend. People don't just make reviews in this world, you have to truly impress them or truly mistreat them, sadly this is one of those situations that was truly mistreating, we was not giving an option to move to a laptop table, after being really nice and explaining we would not be long we was basically forced out and felt really uncomfortable, at least be honest in your replies please.

The overall ambience is good. Food and coffee is amazing and the staff are very welcoming. Service is quick as well. Would visit again.
