Barbara's Baps in Thanet

Came here for breakfast. The staff were very friendly and chatty. The coffee was delicious and my omelette was done to perfection. Meal was reasonably priced and I wasn't waiting long at all.

Very pleasant time spent in this restaurant with magnificent view. I particularly enjoyed the Scotch eggs and the dessert. The staff is very friendly and attentive.

A lovely meal, curry and bacon and sausage. Lovely young lady serving and helpful as,was a first visit. We will be back . Prices very reasonable

I would like to have given a higher rating as the food was very good, but the service badly let's place down. Looking at other reviews, this seems to be an ongoing problem, which is not being addressed. Maybe no one in management ever reads reviews or visits the restaurant. The food was nice. We all had salads. However, they had run out of mackerel, which we were not told when order placed. A very nice older man came and advised us of this and suggested my husband and friend had the steak salad instead, which they did and enjoyed. They were not asked how they wanted the meat cooked. The staff were not at all friendly, especially the lady that served us. She didn't smile once, and it felt like she didn't want to be there, and everything was too much trouble. Badly lacking in customer service. We sat in the area that was once the reception but is now used for sorting the condiments and cutlery. The table was fine, but it would have been nicer if the seving area been left tidy. As we were drinking our tea and coffee the waitress started to put away clean knifes, etc the noise which there was no apology for was so bad my husband had to go and wait in the shop area while my friend and I finished our drinks. Then another issue when we went to pay as we wanted to divide the bill we had to move from where we had been told to pay to another till another member of staff then had to reluctantly serve us. Sadly, I don't think we will return anytime soon.
