Barakah Indian Cuisine in Lewisham

I usually love this place, but I was so disappointed with this order. The food lacked its usual great flavour and the containers were only around two thirds full. When I pay £9.95(?) for a tikka masala, I don’t expect it to be half full. Very disappointed. £30 on the smallest meal I’ve ever had. Only good thing was the speed of delivery. Taste only gets one star.

Still the best Indian Restaurant in the area, by far. Everything is fresh here. The quality of the chicken in the tikka masala is amazing. The papadoms are fresh as well. The meat samosa is packed with meat and is tasty. Highly recommend anybody to try this restaurant and make it their go to, you can’t get anything like barakah.

Absolutely fantastic food delivered hot and a bit early. Lamb was good quality with no gristle, prawns were juicy and everything was fresh and tasty. I highly recommend and will use again.

The food was extremely late, by over an hour. Took almost 2 hours and half to arrive. We enjoyed it when it arrived, so no complaint over the food quality, but was so late and was a major inconvenience unfortunately.

The meal was delicious, flavoursome and a really good temperature considering I do not live close to the restaurant. Definitely will be ordering from here again. 5stars

Barakah has become our go to for a curry. Really good quality tasty food and good delivery.

I've had quality food from Barakah in the past but not this time (new management? The quality of food has dropped considerably). The meagre bits of chicken in my chicken biryani did not at all taste like fresh chicken but in fact had the texture and appearance of ultra processed bits of chicken, and was literally quite tasteless, in fact I'm certain it was ready prepared ultra processed chicken used in my chicken biryani and that's totally unacceptable; I didn't pay to be served a chicken biryani made with cheap ultra processed bits of chicken from a supermarket packet; I'm extremely annoyed about it. It was horrible. As for the tarka dhal, it lacked seasoning and therefore tasted extremely bland. Also, it seemed to have had flour or some kind of thickening ingredient added to it. It was certainly not made entirely from split peas which is what tarka dhal should only be made of. In addition, my biryani vegetable curry tasted sweet, in fact it had the distinct taste of sugar having been added to it. It's the absolute worst as far as I'm concerned - having sugar added to my vegetable curry!!! What's that about!!!?? Altogether, I'm thoroughly disappointed and extremely annoyed at the low quality of food I received from Barakah this evening.

Have not used Barakah for a while as prices went up and it was getting a little expensive. But good to see a 10% discount if spending over £25 and so I decided to use them again. Glad I did as it was superb. Have used Barakah for years, ever since they opened as used to live near by. Whilst little touches they used to do like chocolates/wet wipes/complimentary dishes have gone over the years, the quality of the food has always remained. This was no different. Superb. Tandoori chicken starter was lovely and had a nice spice. Lamb jalfrezi delicious and lamp succulent. The butter chicken and lemon rice were always wonderful. Great food, friendly driver and arrived early, which was a nice surprise. Thoroughly recommended for a good quality curry.

I had to wait for over an hour for my order to arrive, as I'm having a feeling that it was delivered to the wrong address in the first place. When I called the restaurant to chase my order after the time given, they said it's on the way, but I had to wait for a while. I ordered butter chicken, but received chicken Korma instead and my cheese nans were plain nans. Only thing that was good, was the tandoori chicken. I won't be ordering from here again.

My first time ordering here and I was really impressed to have such a good local curry place. Ordered a chicken dhansak and mushroom pilau rice and it was definitely one of the nicest dhansaks I have had in a very long time. I will definitely be ordering again and trying more dishes

Amazing Indian takeaway. Tikka Masala is probably the best I’ve had. The chicken on it tastes amazing, it has that grilled charcoal flavour to it. The salt and pepper naan is great, has lots of flavour and better than ordinary naan. Overall bangin food, will defo be ordering again!

Delicious! The food is consistently excellent - spiced to perfection and a large menu choice. The dishes are fresh, presented well and beautifully cooked. Message to Barakah: I did not order from you because you offered a discount. I ordered from you because in the past, I have enjoyed your food. However, not so on this occasion, because it seems that when you apply a discount, you think it is ok to basically rip me off. Well, it isn't! My tandoori lamb biriyani contained five very tough, very tiny pieces of lamb, the size of each piece no bigger than a one pence coin. My brinjal potato was primarily just potato with four pieces of aubergine. As a very regular customer, this is not what I expect from you. As I've stated above, I did not order from you because of your discount. I ordered from you because I trusted you to be honest in your preparation of my food. The fact that you offered a discount does not give you the right to rip me off. In any case, for £24 worth of food, to have sent me five very tiny, very tough pieces of lamb and a brinjal potato mostly of potato and four pieces of aubergine is quite simply a rip-off. To reiterate, I'm a very regular customer and have been for a long time but I'll think twice in future before I order from you again.

1st time ordering from here. The jalfrezi was cooked exactly how l instructed. Wanted it vindaloo hot with xtra chili. It blew me away in a good way. Very tasty with generous portions with affordable prices and great service. Many thanx will order again

As usual, Barakah's food was fresh and appetising. However, my three stars reflect the fact that my meal was chilli loaded so hot which I don't mind except that it lacked flavour otherwise because other spices were lacking. Therefore it was all chilli and heat and not much other flavour of Indian spices.

The butter chicken, for multiple orders now has been identical to the Chicken Korma. The Sauce is exactly the same and I’m Indian haha so I’m not sure what to do when wanting a butter chicken.

Barakah is simply the best take-away in South East London. I am vegetarian and the range available on their menu is innovative and delicious. The dishes are perfectly spiced and seem to be freshly cooked with generous portions. I really can't fault Barakah - even delivery is done with friendliness and respect. Thank you!

Foods nice, but a real lack of prawns in a king prawn dansak, was only about 4 prawns in the whole thing, really disappointing considering how expensive it is
