I visited Bar Sport over the weekend to watch the football. The menu looked tempting so we decided to order some food and were very impressed with the quality of the food and the service received, particularly considering how crowded it was. Compliments to the chef!

I often go to Bar Sport for the football I find the staff polite and helpful I find the food to be of a good standard if a little basic. Good choice of beers and wines and spirits at a competitive price. Best sports bar in Derby city centre. Only down side is the number of people who just come in sit down and have no intention of buying either food or a drink. They need to be challenged.

Went in to watch the football which was on all the TVs but they had the rugby commentary on so loud on the big screen. Beer over priced so we left after one drink. Should be able to have two sports on with commentary at the same time considering the size of the place. Could easily have sound on in the booths

We were told to go here for the best fBarra and Chips in Derby so went and we’re not disappointed. The fish was great and plenty of it and the salad was fresh. It was very well priced compared with the pubs in town and the staff were friendly and helpful. Only complaint is they were a bit slow in opening up.

Went in to watch the boxing and not many in but at 10.25 we were asked to get our last drinks as they were closing. On the website it says 11pm. False advertising for a start. I think what's happened is no manager on site so staff just wanted to go early.

This is a great place to save money. You can sit at the table glued to the TV without a drink. No member of staff will approach. If you do go to the bar, look forward to 5 staff in a row not doing or saying anything. You can develop your conversational skills and even try your hand at trying to get blood out of a stone. They seem to be lost in some kind of clock-watching stupor, in which customers and fellow staff are items of furniture. Stay long enough (around an hour before closing time) and the staff come to life in a short-lived glass collecting frenzy. They say a smile is infectious. Not in this place. Soulless.

Not much food available so the menu was pointless. I ordered a pint of bier motrata. The beer was off. I drank about half a pint. Told the bar maid. She looked at me as if I was stupid. I left and went home. 1 hour later I was throwing up. AVOID this place.

I have been going to this bar for all sport big game but tonight I am so so disappointed as to the covid rule and guideline Personal walking to the toilet with no mask and when I advised I was inform we can’t enforce this rule - this rule is set by the bar Don’t let personal in if not sticking to pub guidelines I also stopped 3 people one in the restroom. As he relied I’ve left it at the table abs 3 guys all agree WTF Another walked the length of the pub looking for a friend with no mask minutes after I highlighted the rule back to the weak door man I would be happy to speak with the owner to discuss but not available. With the new increase of Indian version we need to stick government guidelines. This pub clearly see otherwise . I will try again to guide next week

My initial reaction wasn't a positive one when we initially walked past from our hotel into the city centre, people outside smoking always discourages me from entering. On the way back we decided to have one for the road and I was pleasantly surprised, very friendly staff, reasonable prices, spotlessly clean tables. Love the concept, but not the same as your sports bars in the US, need to stop concentrating on one TV channel on all the TVs and show a multitude of sports events across all of the screens. Another bug bear - someone vaping in the booth next door but one to the one we were in, yuk! As a non smoker I find this really offensive, we would have stayed for one more drink here but this discouraged us, so our night cap was at our hotel.

I was here for the very first opening. And personally it's really gone down hill. For a sports its great. But for beverages and food it's a bit poor. Its go to for football for me and my partner but frankly the food is below par, the beer/cider on tap is served in hot glasses that aren't clean. Theres no toilet seats in the mens & the staff are rude & dont seem to care about customers. The manageress is bitter-faced & shouldn't be manager when she doesnt even smile (I think people here need to smile more). At the busy time i have seen people stumbling over each other behind the bar. But as soon as its quiet withno one to serve they're stood chatting behind the bar! We'd been sat at our table for about 30 minutes it hadnt been cleaned but they find time to stand around and talk. Bar staff should not be stood still doing nothing ever. It's a saturday afternoon prime time football. The owner may need to advise their staff to be more hands on. Food is overpriced swill.

This bar definitely does what is says on the tin, great for drinking in a bustling bar watching sports. The food is okay, if not a little overpriced for what is effectively just faux American bar food. (Apart from the ribs, which were surprisingly very tasty and tender, a good option if you're looking for dinner. Overall it's great for watching a match, but probably not great value for dinner.

After a lengthy wait to sort out a code on the booking confirmation the food came. I have visited here a few times now to watch footy and as far as the tv sports coverage goes it is second to none. There is a good selection of draught beers but they are pricey. A Heineken is £3.95, a bottled Cider £4.10. That said, it's not the drinks prices that annoy me, it's the price of the food, and the chicken wings in particular. 5 wings (small single joint wings) for £5.50! It's crazy. This bar is similar to Hooters in its American themed set up (girls in tight shorts excluded) but Hooters is streaks ahead. They really need to take a leaf out of Hooters menu and reduce prices and up promotions like they have (all you can eat wings for £7.95 springs to mind). Also the bar staff on the whole could do with a few training days.

We got a groupon deal so thought we'd give it a try as it's on the doorstep of the office practically. When we arrived we had no idea whether we should wait at our table to be served or go to the bar, nobody acknowledged us when we arrived, there was only a couple of other tables in at the time. We got a table and waited a couple of minutes then went to order our drinks and food. The staff were friendly, but seemed to be unsure of what they were doing. The mains arrived in reasonable time, they were enjoyable. We then waited at the table for our mains to be cleared away then we were going to order desserts, but eventually I went to the bar. The staff member looked confused and asked me if I minded returning to my table and she'd take my order. She came over a few minutes later and took the order, within 5 minutes these also arrived.Generally an enjoyable lunch, we didn't have to wait for long, although it seems that the staff could do with some training as they didn't seem confident. But they were friendly and polite.

Group of 4 of us for an England euro 2016 qualifier match. Plenty of televisions to see from anywhere in the bar. Fairly long wait to get a drink at the bar as fewer staff serving for what I would have expected on a Friday night with England playing. Sharing platter of food ordered. Staff took the order and I told them where we were sat. Whilst waiting for food a member of staff came over to us to tell us to move as the area was reserved. There was no reserve sign on the table or signing around the area. Staff were asked prior to sitting down if the table was free to which they agreed we could sit down. It was explained to staff that we are awaiting food order. Staff member displayed poor customer service as though we were in the wrong. Same staff member brought out our food dumped it on the table with no cutlery or napkins and said "YOU NEED TO MOVE WHEN YOU'VE FINISHED THIS". Quite frankly this is disgusting service and we all felt pressured to eat up and move. Never returning and a complete waste of money spent. Food was very average. £25 for a few vegetables, cheese and 8 pieces of chicken in batter along with a few ribs. Highly disappointing.

Service not great.Went with family and friends for the football and a meal on a Friday evening having booked a booth.Great from the point of fact where ever you are sat or standing you have a good view of a tv screen the booths having their own tv.The table service wasn't great there were seven of us all ordering food and drinks. First off it took a good 20 minutes to attract the waitresses attention ordered the food and two pitchers of beer only to be told they had run out of pitchers. The food when it arrived didn't come out all together three had theirs first and near enough finished when the last four came out.we then had to wait for extra cutlery as not on the table.Having said that the food wasn't bad and reasonably priced.Tried to get the waitresses attention again to order more drinks which again took a while only to be told she couldn't do this as she had to concentrate on delivering food and to go to the bar.......she seemed very flustered. Two members of the party went off to the bar where It took half an hour to get served. In the mean time we noticed other waitresses seemed to be serving drinks at other tables. It was also difficult to attract attention to pay the bill........asked the manager who told us to ask one of the girls eventually mission accomplished.Think they need to review the staffing.......ie put more on when they know there is going to be a popular event and may be a little more staff training as this is letting the venue down.Think it will be a while before being tempted to re-visit

After being unsure about this place on hearing it was going to open I'm still in two minds to how successful it will be. I've been twice now. First trip not long after opening was worthy of a good 4* last trip however was a weak 3*First time there was prompt good table service. Second time serious lack of. First time there wasn't music and you were able to concentrate on the sport, after all it is a sports bar! Second time music was played at every opportunity and as soon as the footy had finished. If I wanted this I'd watch in Walkabout! When people go to watch football they want to hear the pundits not naff dance music. As for the food I couldn't fault it on either trip but really how hard is it to serve a good burger and fries?! Did however forget things on both visits. All in all if they polished up the edges this could be really good at being the destination of choice for American food and live sport, as it stands though it's abit of a lottery as to whether it's a average night or good night. It's cheap enough currently with a 2-4-1 though to take a chance.

I went here on Sunday with the Mrs and her brother to watch the football. It was the first time any of us had been here, and we all had pretty much the same opinion - the venue is great, but the service leaves a lot to be desired.First of all, the venue. It has TONS of TV's, making it a brilliant venue to watch sport. You will never struggle to watch the action because of the amount of TV's. We were lucky enough to get one of the booths, meaning we had our own private telly. However, the staff really don't know how to work the TV's. We were happily watching the rugby game that was on our booth TV as we sat down, then all of a sudden someone changed it to the horse racing channel for no reason! Then when we asked for the channel to be changed to BT Sport 1 for the football, one male member of staff (who had a very poor grasp of the English language, came over and started changing the channel on the TV, which of course is wrong because you need to change it on the Sky Box. Everyone knows that. So he eventually gave up and got someone else over (he wore a white polo shirt and a headset, so he must have been some sort of big cheese!), and the channel was changed. 10mins after we asked for it to be changed, but it was finally done. The location of the venue is both a blessing and a hindrance. Back in the day when it used to be "The Island" it was fantastic. But those were different times, the cathedral quarter was far more vibrant than it is now, and although you've still got places like The Dolphin and the Slug & Lettuce nearby, this sports bar is going to really suffer from getting the dregs of society coming in from Wetherspoons and that other dump next to it. For example, we turned up just before 2pm on Sunday, and one skinhead covered in tattoos and Derby colours was so hammered that he tripped and fell as he tried to go for a cigarette, and almost went head first through the window. This bar is definitely not somewhere you would go for a bit of class.Having said that, it IS somewhere you'd go with the lads to watch a bit of sport for a few hours. I could imagine chilling out in here on a saturday afternoon watching the football results come in. But that's about all this bar is useful for. I certainly wouldn't want to come here in the evening. It was a nice touch to offer table service. I have no idea if they do this every day, but on Sunday they did. However, if you're going to offer table service it might be a good idea to actually provide the drinks we ordered within an acceptable time. We had 3 different people come to our table, 2 of which just didn't have a clue. The foreign lad i mentioned earlier, he was totally and utterly confused by the fact that i asked for a fried egg to go in my burger. He had to go away and ask the chef if he was able to cook a fried egg and put it in a burger. Unbelievable. We'll just gloss over the fact that they charged £1 for an egg. £1!! It would be cheaper for me to bring my own egg and cook it on a hotplate in the booth. One of the young girls who came over was very pleasant and smiley, and she got our drinks to us very quickly. But the other young girl, putting aside the fact that she sounded like she smokes 60 a day, took an eternity to bring the drinks over, and didn't even collect payment until about an hour later.Derby definitely needed a venue like this because Walkabout and Friary have had the sporting monopoly too long in Derby. Both of those venues don't have amazing seating or viewing angles, and when busy it's almost impossible to get a drink. So for a bar like this to come along and offer unrestricted viewing anywhere in the venue, and table service so you don't have to queue, is an absolute god send. They just need to iron out the problems with their service.

Bad service; asked for a drink and it took at least 10/15 minutes for it to come because she was gossiping. some of the staff wear skirts so short you can see their bums and it's enough to put you off your food. Our TV had music playing in one of the booths and the manager/boss was sat at the end of the bar for some time watching us and moaning to other people saying "if they want to listen to music then go somewhere else" at the top of his voice. I think they are very rude and inappropriate as it was the staff that put the music channel on not us. If you see some large guy swinging some keys around his fingers then you know who I'm talking about.
