Best Tapas. What a gem, something a little different to the normal tapas faire, every dish was delicious, so glad to visit with a group of 4 to be able to sample so much of the menu. The Beef cheeks & quail eggs were a highlight and very much enjoyed with delicious sangria. The place is cozy, perfect in the sun - make sure to book ahead.

Best tapas we've had by far. The whole place felt really authentic and the service was excellent. The value was also excellent. We've ordered far less and paid far more for worse food in other tapas places in Manchester/Greater Manchester. The calamari and the morcilla were standout dishes. The papas bravas were extremely interesting as they came with a meaty gravy rather than the more expected tomato sauce, if anything better!

What an amazing tapas restaurant, and a new favourite for us. We visited on a Sunday evening and the place was full which says a lot about it. The decor and vibe is also a standout factor The menu may seem somewhat limited however there is enough to share amongst a small group of diners. The quality of what is available was absolutely stunning and very enjoyable, especially the olives & lamb parcels. There is a great selection of wines to compliment your meal Parking is street parking around the area which we found easily enough near by.

We had an amazing experience with the tapas here! The quail eggs were a delightful highlight, and the flavorful lamb parcels and melt-in-your-mouth slow-cooked beef cheek were definite favorites. Highly recommend a visit, but be sure to book a table in advance. The sunny terrace is a beautiful spot to enjoy your meal!

Atempts to create authentic Spanish atmosphere and popular but very small and noisy inside so not everyone's cup of sangria, so didn't stay long.

Food was nice. I'm not convinced that it's not ready made. Comes out very fast. So, so noisy. No real atmosphere. Couldn't have a conversation with the person sat next to me at the "bar". Felt that they can't wait for you to finish, pay, and get out, so the next lot can come in to eat.

Waited along time to try this place and to be honest it was a bit of a let down. Food was ok but not really punching above a 7/10 on any dish. Service was fine but food pretty lacklustre and I would likely not return unless I was in the area and wanted something reasonable.

Good Food, but too busy, too noisy and turnover rate far too fast. Not for a hoped for romantic evening meal. Management saying to new awaiting customers " when these people go you can sit here" leaves me with an " eat fast, pay up and get out as fast as possible " policy from the Management feeling.

I had been curious about this place for quite some time, having received positive feedback from those around me. I finally had the opportunity to visit, and from the moment I stepped inside, it was clear that the atmosphere was one of its strongest aspects. The fusion of traditional elements with a modern touch has created a unique and inviting setting. The attention to detail in the décor, the choice of materials, and the overall ambience make for an enjoyable dining experience. Moving on to the service, despite the restaurant being quite busy, I was impressed by how efficiently everything was managed. It is evident that the menu has been carefully designed to accommodate quick service. Dishes that require lengthy preparation times, such as paella, have been omitted, likely to maintain a steady workflow in the kitchen. While this approach ensures smooth and prompt service, it does somewhat limit the variety of options available. Nevertheless, the speed and efficiency of the staff certainly contribute to a positive customer experience. When it comes to the food, I must admit my expectations were not entirely met. The main issue I encountered was the excessive use of salt, which significantly impacted the overall taste. The combination of the inherent salt content of the ingredients with an additional layer of seasoning resulted in dishes that were overwhelmingly salty. If the salt levels were adjusted, this could become a place worth visiting regularly for a casual meal. Of course, taste is subjective, but in my opinion, a more balanced seasoning approach would greatly enhance the flavours. Additionally, this venue is a good choice for those looking to enjoy a drink in a pleasant setting. The selection of snacks available to accompany beverages is sufficient, and in terms of value for money, the pricing seems reasonable. In conclusion, the venue’s atmosphere, fast service, and well-curated drinks menu stand out as its key strengths. However, there is room for improvement in the food’s seasoning to make it more appealing to a wider audience. If the salt levels were adjusted, this restaurant could attract an even larger customer base. That said, for those seeking a relaxed environment to enjoy a drink and quick service, this remains a solid option.

The real deal. And it was a deal. Great food and drink at a very reasonable price. Lovely waiters. Is this the best local restaurant in Manchester?

Lovely place in Chorlton Manchester

Gorgeous place in a hamlet of a village setting. Outdoor covered seating with heaters so enjoyable at any time. Food was delicious, not loads of pointless options. Traditional Spanish, not mass produced. All so tasty. Staff lovely. Will definitely go again lots.

We have been trying to get to Bar San Juan for such a long time that we had a slight anticipation of being slightly disappointed, however this was not the case. Bar San Juan lived up to all our expectations in terms of quality of food, service and value for money. The staff are fantastic - helpful and friendly without being over familiar

The Best Tapas Restaurant in Manchester! This place feels like a little slice of Spain in the heart of Manchester. The atmosphere is authentic, and the food is absolutely incredible. The sangria was delightful, and the pan fresco con alioli was full of flavour. If you’re planning to visit, I highly recommend trying: Cojonudo Trufado: I can’t even begin to explain how delicious this tapa is – an absolute must-try! Croquetas San Juan: Perfectly crispy and packed with flavour. Carrilleras de Ternera: Melt-in-your-mouth beef cheek – just incredible. Saquitos de Cordero: While lamb isn’t my favourite, the sauce on this dish was sensational. I honestly cannot wait to come back to this amazing restaurant. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for authentic Spanish tapas!

Bar San Juan is a lovely restaurant with exceptional food! I have visited a few times and each time it continues to excel! The vegetarian options are good and there are plenty of options, I also eat fish and the Octopus is to die for! Some have told me it is the best place to get tapas outside of Spain!

Service superb, great ambience, but it’s the food that makes this restaurant the very very best in Manchester. Without any doubt, the tastiest tapas I’ve ever had! Came here for my birthday (in July but forgot to leave a review) and it was amazing! The space is definitely better suited for smaller parties but the bar San Juan team were absolutely amazing and the service was seem less and the food is incredible as always, as is the sangria. My highlight this time was the cod cheek!

Hier gaan eten na een bezoek aan Old Trafford, met name omdat de recensies zo lovend zijn. Nou vandaag niet. Het eten was lekker, laat ik daar mee beginnen. Verder was het een grote deceptie. We kregen een erg krap tafeltje naast de bar toegewezen, dit terwijl we al een maand geleden gereserveerd hadden en de hele zaak verder leeg was. Nou goed, vervolgens werd ons netjes gevraagd wat we wilden drinken en werd onze bestelling verder opgenomen. Nadat onze glazen leeg waren is ons geen enkele keer meer gevraagd of we nog iets te drinken wilden bestellen. Ook werden de kaarten weggehaald nadat we het eten besteld hadden. Ons werd hierdoor na de eerste drie gerechtjes niet meer de gelegenheid geboden om wat extra’s te bestellen. De service was in een woord dramatisch. Het eten werd bij ons op tafel ‘gegooid’ zodra het na lange tijd geserveerd werd, zonder enig omkijken. Het personeel rende op en neer door de zaak, echt een chaos en geen rustige plek om te genieten van de opzich wel goed smakende tapas. Al met al voor mij geen aanrader, ondanks al het goeds dat ik lees over deze zaak in andere reviews.

Finally managed to get a reservation at BSJ after trying for ages! Food/Staff/Atmosphere were all absolutely first class. Booked straight back in again for December.

La comida era excelente! El servicio de la primera dama que conocimos fuera era bueno. PERO nos aconsejó otro camarero que necesitábamos movernos de nuestra mesa a los 90 minutos para otra persona. ¿Ya habíamos pedido más vino y queso y nos dijeron que nos moviéramos? ¡Todavía estábamos comiendo! Pregunté esto... pero nos trasladaron a otra mesa afuera y nos sentimos como ciudadanos de segunda clase. 90 minutos para la cena... Qué horror. Después de nuestra primera visita había recomendado este lugar a tanta gente. Ya no... .dejé un sabor tan amargo en mi boca. Nunca recomendaría de nuevo. Un servicio horrible... qué pena.

This little bar is a gem. It's often booked up so plan your visit. This time we visited on a Friday lunchtime, it was busy but they did manage to squeeze in a couple of walk ins by 2pm. The food is done well. Really well. This is the real deal, its popularity is a testament to that. We had 7 plates for 3 of us including beef cheeks in a warming sauce with crispy leek topping, grilled octopus and lamb parcels in a rich wine sauce. I could go on but honestly anything you choose is gonna be good. Lovely selection of sherry and aperitifs. My favourite being the Ponche Caballero, a brandy infused with orange and various spices. A revelation. The intimacy of the bar and the liveliness as well as the decor really adds to your experience. We've been several times now. A real treat.

so lovely! waiters were very helpful with making space on the table and reminding us when the heat lamp turned off outside (needed for manchester weather!), and the dishes came spread out which was very handy as once we finished one, another would appear! the prawns were extremely good and i am a prawn critic, i know a good prawn when i have one and these were 10/10!!! very juicy and flavoursome, and even with the rain i was still having an amazing chomp!! with a group of four with soft drinks and 2 dishes each, it was 70 pounds which is very good for the area.

Picked Bar San Juan as one of our places to dine whilst in Manchester for the cricket. The reviews were great and we weren’t disappointed. Everything was perfect - atmosphere, service, staff and food were all brilliant. It’s a must visit if you like great tapas.

Traditional feeling little bar. Nice atmosphere although tables close together doesn’t feel cramped. Had lots of dishes there wasn’t one that we didn’t like. Sangria portion is very generous

Genuinely some of the best food I’ve eaten.

I fully understand every business is about MONEY. However, service should be take into account if you want to make good MONEY. You might think or considering why only one star out of five with a bill of over 140 pound, I give you the answer: because we wait for a tap water for more than a hour and finally, you server a glass of tab water with a 'ban' and " your water".
