Nueve Tapas Bar in Manchester

From all the very good reviews we saw, we were extremely disappointed by the quality of the food. The rice dishes especially, which were clearly heated up in the microwave, extremely bland to the point where we didn’t want to finish. Calamari was evidently frozen and the bravas very soggy. The only positives we can say was the restaurant itself had a nice atmosphere and our server was very friendly. Overall not a great experience and definitely won’t be returning.

I visited Nueve Tapas Bar with my wife, and we got seated pretty quickly since it was a chill Tuesday evening. The menu looked promising with lots of authentic tapas, so we ordered serrano, croquetas, tortilla de patatas, and finished off with churros con chocolate. The service was good, not too in-your-face. Food came out quick and nice and warm, and it looked great too. Only thing, the chocolate sauce for the churros was bitter, more like melted dark chocolate than the thick chocolate milk you'd get in Spain. Also, the portions were kinda small for the price. But hey, I was hesitant to visit at first because they had a 1-star hygiene rating, but they've really stepped up their game since then. I didn't get sick at all, so they've definitely improved, and that's something I'm happy about. Other than those minor points, everything was spot on!

Really friendly team, food was delicious. Had the burrata, garlic mushrooms, spicy green beans, anchovies, tortilla. Also dog-friendly which is a bonus!

Went for late lunch on a Sunday and wasn't busy at all. Service was great and absolutely everything we ordered was eaten. Though some dishes were unavailable. High quality food, would go back.

I booked a party of 8 for my birthday celebrations. The booking was confirmed on e-mail and text. My friends had travelled from Leicester to see me for this special occasion. When we turned up, they confirmed that my booking was correct but it wasn't on their IPAD and turned us away. If you are booking for a special occasion then just beware they may still turn you away even if your booking has been approved and confirmed. Not good enough and very disappointing!

If I could give this gem of a restaurant a 50/50 I would. In fact. I’m going to do just that. Because why the F not. I rate this place 50/50. My Father (an Aussie resident), my sister (a Chorlton resident) and myself (County Durham) visited this place tonight for a farewell dinner before my Dad flies back to Sydney on Sunday. Not only was the Tapas EXCEPTIONAL, but the service we received was OUT-STAN-DING. They were two team members down and we would never have guessed it. The food was timely, punchy yet comforting and just bloody delicious. To top it off, our drinks host was exceptional. Liam has worked in some impressive establishments in the country and is only filling in for a couple of weeks before he heads to Hotel Football - but boy do we consider ourselves lucky to have experienced his expertise, professionalism, cocktail creativity and humour within that timeframe. Liam was extremely attentive and asked our permission to be creative and add some of his own flair to cocktails and drinks we ordered along with his own recommendations. My very words were “do your thing my friend”. With that, he came back with the best pallet cleansers I have ever experienced. Wow. I will certainly be back to Nueve when I visit my sister and I will also ensure I now head to Hotel football to taste some of the best cocktails I’ve had since visiting some of the world renowned cocktail bars in Austin TX and New York. Thanks for a top night and see you all again soon. <3

Great tapas with a lively atmosphere. Service was great even with a table for 8. Food came super quick and the sangria was to die for! Swordfish was also great!

My Caipirinha was nice but my friend thought her Amaretto Sour was 'OK'. We ordered some tapas too. The Padron peppers didn't have any seasoning so we had to ask for salt. We also ordered Croquetas which were nice enough.

First time dining here and will definitely go again. Food was absolutely delicious - perfectly cooked, fresh, vibrant, packed with flavour. Highly recommend both the sea bass, and cod dishes. Service was excellent - staff were friendly and attentive without being intrusive.

Nueve was a really lovely, cosy dining experience. The food was lovely and well priced. If you like tapas and you're in the Didsbury area I would recommend it!

Fantastic little spot in Didsbury for tapas. The best tortilla ive had in this country, cooked the correct way. Definitely pay a visit if you're after tapas in Manchester - worth the trip out of town.

Not the best tapas i have ever eaten, but it was nice. Sold out of ham croquettes at like 5pm? Slow service and food came out so staggered we actually forgot we had plates left to comeat the end.

We have just moved to this area and after a wonder around the village and many choices we decided to choose here and what a fantastic little place it is. The service from the staff was warm, welcoming, and professional. The food was amazing. The only thing that disappointed me was that they had no olives, but everything else made up for that

Wonderful food, with great service

Each dish was fine I guess - but lacked panache or any special authentic flavour. I visited with my son, who spent years living in Spain and he suggested that the 'food lacked love'.

Food was average at best. Calamari was lovely, but went for cod and albondigas which was average at best - cod overdone, clams not open, bland albondigas sauce. No one checked how food was to mention earlier in the meal, when we did say, they used short of staff as an excuse - would have been happy to have delayed service that was tasty but this was so very average. Also tried to charge us for a dish we didn’t end up getting because they ran out. Fine but underwhelming

Delicious tapas. We had Portuguese custard tarts with pastichio ice cream for dessert which was sublime. Great gin fizz cocktail. Reasonably priced. Would highly recommend

Had a wonderful time at Nueve Tapas. The restaurant itself and the interior really replicates a Spanish bar and the food was delicious, with lovely staff as well. Perfect for a family meal out or a dinner for two. Highly recommend to all! A definite gem in South Manchester.

Well worth a visit. Great choice of food and drink.

All of the food we had was very tasty, particularly the fish and meat dishes. Seabass, Swordfish and Sirloin steak were cooked perfectly and full of flavour. Good selection of dishes on the menu catering for most dietary requirements and a nice choice of drinks too. Staff were very helpful and attentive, always asking if we were happy with the dishes and whether they could provide anything else. A minor delay on one item was rectified by the team as soon as they were made aware so no complaints or markdowns from that. We booked the restaurant knowing very little about it and with no previous recommendations from others and we were definitely very happy with the whole experience. I will be recommending to others and will definitely be back myself in the near future. Thanks.

I've been 3 times to this lovely local restaurant since moving to Manchester 1.5 years ago. It's always a good night, and the staff are fantastic. They create a relaxed, and friendly atmosphere and select some fun music. The food is lovely, and the portions are perfect. I be back!

Paulicarus tells me I have been here before but if so, I have no memory. Nice Tapas bar with upstairs kitchen and toilets. Paulicarus brought Mum for early Mothers Day treat. Loved every dish. A gooey centred tortilla. Crispy belly pork. Lovely beef stew. Calamari, peri peri, veg stew etc. Definitely come back. Lovel sherry to finish.

Most of the food is just frozen and deep fried, sauce straight from a jar, grill chicken bitter and burnt, the only thing in the menu a bit decent was the beef stew.

I’ve visited here a few times now and tried around 15 of the tapas dishes, not one has disappointed! Would highly recommend. Staff are friendly but not overbearing and prices are reasonable. The sea bass is my favourite dish!

Absolute awful restaurant. They literally don’t understand the meaning of Tapas. To be served every dish (circa 12-14 dishes) in 14 minutes upon my arrival. Table booked 6pm-7:45pm - to be served everything within 15 minutes is scandalous and to raise it with the manager to be told ‘that’s how the kitchen works’ clearly at a Formula one pace! Naively I agreed to pay to leave without eating a thing - oh I’ll correct that - an overcooked padron pepper for the princely sum of £58, for what is quite possible the worst tapas experience ever! Avoid at all costs unless you’re Formula one driver & they could squeeze every dish your pit stop. Embarrassing and local resident will NOT be returning. Finally had to leave one star as zero stars wasn’t available.

Really enjoyable place to have an evening out

Brilliant food but service was lacking as one one persons came out 15-20 mins before others and then to be told that’s how tapas works! We have done loads of tapas before and not served like this. It’s a shame but loud group in next to us obviously friends of one of waiters and to top it all they switched lights off as people in loo up 2 flights of stairs as actually walking down stairs and one still in loo very dangerous and didn’t have yellow stickers on stairs that I thought was now mandatory? Probably won’t go again which is a shame as good food but nobody appears to be be actually managing restaurant floor 😳

Quality tapas in a lovely little restaurant.

Went here for dinner however was quite disappointed with the service/food. Initial welcome was fantastic and explanation from the host was professional and clear. However upon receiving a particular dish it wasn’t what was expected based on the menu description. Myself and my partner didn’t touch the dish as a result. No member of staff checked upon our table after we received our food to see if we were satisfied or even would like any more drinks. When a staff member came to clear our empty plates we were still not asked and I explained the dish wasn’t what we expected and therefore were not happy with it. The staff member apologised and sympathised with our situation and stated they would be over shortly with our bill. It was disheartening to see that the dish which we had issue with remained on the bill and we were made to feel like the venue was perhaps more interested in taking our money as opposed to resolving any issue we had with the quality of our food. A restaurant in a great location that sadly isn’t delivering to a standard equivalent to other Spanish restaurants in the wider area.

Excellent food with innovative flavours and choice. We had vegan, fish and meat tapas and highly recommend the green beans with chilli & walnuts, the beef stew, chicken stew, anchovies and the bacalao. The wine was top notch too. Great service from the team, all in all fantastic dine out.

Reasonably priced food. We ordered queso frito, calamares, ternera (chargrilled sirloin steak with green mojo), pollo frito. The fried breaded chicken was really good. The steak was decent too, I particularly liked the green sauce. The calamares looked like they were bought from a supermarket - not good at all. I would avoid that at all costs. We weren't super hungry, so we didn't order other dishes. It was okay at best for one visit, but unfortunately we aren't going to come back.

Lovely little restaurant with good vibes and friendly staff. Prices are good and some of the tapas are fantastic. The Sunday lunch deal is mega, so much food for the price. The reason I’ve only given 4 stars is because I’ve had better tapas overall at other restaurants such as Bar San Juan and Evuna.

Fantastic tapas. Great service too. Came in quite a big group (10+) which can be a nightmare with tapas, but it was really orderly and attentive. Recommend the croquetas!

Excellent find. Didsbury has been lacking a decent Tapas Restaurant since Casa Tapas closed a dozen years ago or so. Paella as good as we've experienced outside of Spain.

Felt slightly dissapounyed with the food. The octopus was not cooked well or not fresh, couldn't quite put my finger on it. Nothing majorly wrong but for the price it was a little lack lustre.

First time in here yesterday and I had never heard of it until my wife found it with a view to eating out with our friends. The welcome was warm and the Brazilian/Portuguese gentleman was really nice. I know nice is very generalistic but nice he was ! He also had a very good sense of humour. He recommended the amount of tapas we should order which we ignored as there were so many great offerings on the menu. Out of four of us we had one vegan lady dining and I can honestly say we were sceptical about the choice we were going to be offered. Let's just say this place offered above and beyond the normal service offered to vegans and I thing if they could have made the belly of pork vegan for her they would have done. Amazing...she opted for the Vegan paella in the end which she thoroughly enjoyed. We ordered many (probably too much) tapas but somehow it seemed to dissappear down our gaping gobs. I cannot do alcohol at the moment but they offered freedam and although they didn't have draught beer that day my friend opted for another form of Estrella which was gluten free, not by choice, just because that's all they had (no complaints though). We spent two glorious fun hours here and were very, very satisfied...would have stayed longer but was a school night and we had to get up next day for work. To sum this place up...atmos..superb, service...superb, food....superb...toilets...toilets. We will definately be back for another wonderful experience no doubt....or just to show the nice gentleman our pictures of Porto (where he's from) after we have been on his recommendation. Thank you all for a great evening. The front door was nicer going in than on the way out....if you know what I mean..(sad to leave) 😁

Been here twice and feel like the quality has declined in the interim. Staff were friendly but perhaps over-casual. The octopus was probably the worst I've had: it was bitter, definitely not fresh tasting (location accepted) and otherwise tasteless. I mentioned to the waiter but he didn't offer any resolution as might be expected. The portions are pretty small for the price and location. For two people with 1 drink and dinner, the cost was over £70 and this was definitely overpriced for the experience. You can do much better in Didsbury.

What a great place for tapas, so many great dishes, pork belly was amazing, the slow cooked pork ribs were great. To be honest every thing we had was amazing. Try the licor 43 shots, silky smooth with a hint of crème brulee.

Feel short changed. They only use a glass of red wine for a 1ltr pitcher for £20, heavily topped up with ice. But other food felt cheap too, even the eggs were pre-cooked and cold. Seems like they cut lots of corners.

Came here for a first date and the food was amazing as well as the service. The place has a very cosy and pleasant atmosphere. Staff were very friendly and easy to have a laugh with. Deserves more than the 4.5 rating it currently has.

If you are going to eat tapas in Manchester eat it here. Brilliantly relaxed atmosphere, the food was amazing and very reasonably priced. We had a large group and we were well catered for, I’d also like to try with just my partner for a glass of wine and a few nibbles. Can not wait to return.

Excellent dishes , good portions too

Perfect choice for some tasty tapas. I recommend the fish board as is plenty food if you are sharing and at really good price. If you want to enjoy a bit of Spain food you should go definitely.

The best tapas I have eaten in UK. Great little place off the main road in Didsbury village. Really friendly staff. Lots of choice. I can't wait to go again.

Located just off the main high street where Barlow Moor Road begins The ambiance is cool Spanish vibes, rustic and casual Good service is lighting fast, very impressive and prices are very reasonable at approx £20 per head without alcohol for a full belly!

It was recommended by a friend. Oh boy how right they were! I can recommend this to everybody! Many good dishes, and they were all good, specially the pescaíto frito and the croquetas, but they've always been my favourites back home anyway!

I made my first visit to Nueve last night, I called at 6.45pm on a Saturday with no resevation, the friendly staff managed to get me a table for me and my 3 other companions. Food was great, the atmosphere was relaxed & chilled back, the music was really good 😎 they were playing J Balvin, Bad Bunny & Karol G 😀💪🏾😝 Congrats & keep up the good work

Valentine’s dinner. Set menu at £35 a head. Our first time here and definitely not our last. Great portions for tapas and AMAZING food. My favourite was the slow cooked lamb parcels. We were really well looked after by every single member of staff. Many thanks to the whole team for a lovely dining experience 🙌🏼
