Just superb. Menu a little hard to understand but the service helps all the team know what there doing. I had an amazing birthday there would highly recommend 🤩🍽️🥂

Manage your expectations. While it says Michelin recommended on the door, this place is honestly quite average. The food sounds fancy on the menu, but when you get it, it’s almost something that seems to have taken 5 minutes to make. Not worth the price, I would skip.

Been here a couple of times but writing this review because I just had the best cheesecake of my life here! Ordered the pistachio cheesecake which was on the specials menu (please make it permanent!) and it was amazing highly recommend it 😍 Service was also fantastic! The only thing is that service could be a little faster

Disappointed with this restaurant called with 6 hours notice to cancel our booking only to be told we would be charged £30. Ended up going and ordering 2 items. Tried to charge us service charge even though they hardly spoke to us. Food was ok but nothing special

Brought a group of work colleagues (9 of us) on a busy Thursday eve and genuinely cannot fault the experience. It’s a personal fave spot of mine anyway but the group menu has all the best bits and is really good value at £45pp, the food was as good, fresh and delicious as it always is and the wait team were so good at bringing the food, clearing the table and topping up drinks. The one thing about this place is every single time I come it’s just as good and always recommending it - 5/5 thank you for looking after us! 😊

Venerdi' sera, ovvero quasi matematica certezza di far fatica a trovare posto ovunque in locali come questi, senza aver prenotato. Eppure ci trovano un posto lungo il bancone, va benissimo cosi'. Per noi si tratta di un ritorno al Gato Negro, ci eravamo gia' stati e possiamo solo confermare il giudizio molto positivo. First of all, complimenti al personale, giovane, sveglio e velocissimo nel destreggiarsi abilmente in mezzo all'affollamento del locale. E poi le crocchette di merluzzo "piquillo pepper puree & aioli" sono sempre gustose, se vogliamo ancor piu' il pane catalano con pomodori e jamon serrano. Ottima birra e conto nella norma con possibilita' facoltativa (e non obbligatoria come capita ormai molto spesso) di includere il 10% di servizio.

I was really impressed by the friendly staff, excellent food and very pleasant restaurant. Great vibe, reasonably priced too. Our waitress was very kind to my son, who’d had a 'special’ day. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Had the set meal small plates for £45 per person. Very average and nothing you couldn't do at home + final bill went to £73pp with beers added on. Disappointed with the small portions and certainly not worth the price, I think somewhere sometime they had an affiliation with Michelin so they've hiked up their prices accordingly. If you're looking for somewhere fancy you could do better. If you're looking for a meal that will fill you up you could do cheaper. Staff friendly, relatively clean, nothing amazing. I would've paid £35pp max for my experience.

Good food and service at this busy restaurant with freshly made and served Tapas etc. Street level tables have room problems as they are crowded and have old fashioned bar type footrests which are not helpful or useful. Drinks are reasonably priced and a wide range are available. One unexpected and unwelcome item was a service charge of 12.5% added to the bill before being presented. This can be cancelled if you ask for it but will sour an otherwise nice meal. Strongly suggest that the mgmt. stop this now as people usually respond to good service with decent tips.

Wedding Anniversary treat! This place was wonderful. We were given a really nice seat quickly. The staff were all very attentive, food and ambience amazing! Lovely waitress we were sat upstairs. We got two nice glasses of bubbly with it being our wedding anniversary. Thank you we will definitely be back!

My husband and ate here on a Sunday night and we were glad we did! We stumbled upon this place in our trip Manchester and walked in without a booking, the resturant was pretty full but thankfully they managed to seat us at the bar. The food was incredible and we loved everything we are, along with this the staff were really friendly and the service was excellent.

Travelled into Manchester last week and visited this restaurant to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were lucky to be allocated a lovely table overlooking King St. The food quality was excellent and the service was friendly, efficient and professional, plus a lovely ambience within the restaurant. The restaurant was busy on what was a wet Wednesday evening.

Megan our waitress was amazing! The food was fabulous and we had a lovely time would definitely recommend! Also Monday to Friday for lunch there is a £20 for 3 courses! Really good value for money

This charming narrow building on King Street has good atmosphere and wonderful food. We had a selection of tapas and they were all excellent. Considering how much we had we felt prices were quite cheap but we did not have any wine. The staff are very friendly and attentive as well. It is the third time I have visited and it has been equally good on each occasion.

One of my favourite places in Manchester. I come here basically every month. It is a shame to see that the prices have gone up with the portion sizes getting smaller - however that is the case everywhere so I understand.

Great venue with lovely decor, we were sat on the second floor next to the kitchen , watching the amazing tapas being made, service was great and the food was fresh delightful, it was my father in law was celebrating 80th birthday and they made it a great experience. Only issue was the booth was very cramped for six other wise great food and atmosphere

Popped in for a quick drink but couldn’t help but order a few small plates. The 3 plates we had were really great and we will be back to try more as it was so good .

The hype is real. Tapas is so underrated and we were so full! 6 plates all scrumptious- Beef short rib Harissa chicken thighs Gambas pilpil Lamb skewers Grilled asparagus fried egg Avacado chorizo pitta Fantastic waitress Meg- so sweet, totally on the ball and made it more enjoyable. We booked some time ago for 6;00 yet the first thing I was asked was would I accept 6;30 and of course I sad no at which time we were taken to a table ,,, bizarre Anyway first the food .., mostly very good though I had a spicey rice and prawns dish that dint work .., just a gooey mess .Wine good but expensive .Service was with a smile from ladies from El Salvador and Carlisle though I think 12.5. per cent service charge is excessive. Our Pulpo Negro in Hampshire is better and I would recommend that .

Great food. Great service and great location! Couldn’t ask for much more. After a long trip from London, we had to push our booking back a couple of times due to traffic. We rang and spoke to friendly staff each time and nothing was too much trouble. Once there, the service was friendly and the food exceptional. The kids loved it. We will be back! I love it here. I been here for 2years already. The best Spanish food I ever have. Even I went to eat in Spain, this place is still my favorite. They changed the menu often but my favorite of all time was the fried baby squid with lemon alioli. Their sourdough and olive was very nice.

We took a group of 14 for a birthday celebration. Service was excellent. We were looked after really well. Food was great. We weren’t required to pay a deposit and there was no pressure pushing additional drinks on the group.

Nice taps restaurant in the centre of Manchester. The food is very good, with a number of tapas options to choose from. There is also a variety of drinks choices. Although the restaurant is quite big, it is generally busy and hence it’s better to book before going.

Food was full of flavour but expensive for what you get. I don't agree with their policy of adding a 12.5% "discretionary" service charge on the bill before asking if you want to give it or not. They should drop this or make a compulsory charge that is clearly marked on the menu prior to ordering.

Lovely food and great wine selection in a great setting. All of the dishes I had were full of flavour. The vegetable dishes were particularly delicious. Portion sizes are OK. The restaurant recommends 5-6 dishes per two people but I ate 4 comfortably by myself so things could get pricey if you’re not careful.

Best tapas in Manchester for me. We sat at the Chefs Table and it was amazing. The food and wine were faultless. Standout dishes were the beef short rib and lamb skewer. But they also did the standard tapas dishes perfectly. The service was amazing, everyone so friendly and attentive and our server went above and beyond to make my girlfriends birthday special. For 8 dishes, a dessert and a bottle of wine came to around £140 which I thought was reasonable for the setting and standard.

All the vegetarian food had the same smokey chargrilled flavour. The food was mediocre . The bread and olives took an hour to arrive and we had to ask for them several times. The service was rushed as we were the last sitting of the evening but everything took a long time to arrive and some food didn't even arrive! It's a shame as this was meant to be a special birthday meal.

Probably one of the worst birthday dinner I have had. Lidl Spanish week deals would have been miles better: awfully bland tomatoes. Found out about this place years ago from the Michelin Guide, and I usually come here for lunch during the weekdays, which they offer to choose any 3 selected items from the menu for £18, and that's a very good price for the quality of food they have. I would recommend their Jamon Iberico Croquetas, Chorizo in Aspall Cider, Patatas Bravas and Fried Squid, as these are the dishes I would come back here for. The internal decor of the restaurant hadn't changed much for the past few years when I dined here and especially if you are seated in the inner corner of the restaurant on the ground floor oppose the bar table, it can be a little bit dark there, stronger lighting could help with the dining atmosphere.

Everything we ordered was delicious and looked amazing on the plates. We had cocktails, and when one of our party asked for a classic that wasn't on the menu, our waitress was happy to oblige. Service was perfect - friendly, professional, knowledgeable. I cannot fault our entire experience.

We ate here for lunch and were not left disappointed. Simple, traditional tapas dishes with a twist were done exceptionally well; the croquetas and tortilla were incredible! We will definitely be visiting other branches on our travels.

We had a valentines meal here and it was fantastic. The food was delicious and the staff were very accommodating for my gluten intolerance. The chef came out with an allergens menu and talked through what was/wasn’t gf. He also altered some of the dishes so that I could have them. We will definitely be coming back soon.

My family were travelling into the city and were delayed in traffic so we’re not going to make the timed reservation but they rang the restaurant and the staff changed the timing which was very helpful. When we finally arrived we were warmly welcomed and seated. It was a Saturday which is the only day there is not a lunch menu. The server was helpful and attentive. Despite seeing some adverse reviews our experience was very positive and the food excellent. Will definitely go again.

Good food in general, cod croquetes were a bit disappointing. However the ribs are delicious - very tender and great flavour. As a side, ordered broccoli and also disappointing, specially for the price. Friendly staff.

Lovely restaurant that we have eaten in a few times however this time was a disappointment. The waiting on staff were really friendly however our food arrived a good 5 minutes before our drinks did meaning it was all cool/cold by the time we started eating (the broccoli was stone cold). The food itself was nice but not very warm, we didn’t eat the calamari and advised it was inedible and had a very strong fishy smell, the waitress apologised but the food stayed on the bill. Super ambience, great layout and decor, great staff, killer cocktails, but SHAME about the food. Of 5 dishes, 1 was great - Padrone peppers, a second short beef ribs cooked to perfection but let down by the peculiar sauce, the baby squid was a plate of literally nail sized fried “ bits” that had been over done into the bargain - the salt cod croquets could have been just potatoes - bland - no taste of fish, we had one each and left the other two, the chargrilled octopus was all char - and just not edible. Was a super busy Saturday night - but clearly there is a need for better quality control in the kitchen. The cost of the meal was extravagant versus the quality of the food.

Lovely, quirky building over 3 floors. Less than ideal if you arrive slightly early for your table. You get squashed in a metre of clear bar area which also happens to be the entrance to the bar. Not ideal. Food is mostly delicious. Wine was amazing. Service was good/ok. I would recommend. Slight issue. Do not like the service charge added to the bill. They will remove this if requested but it comes with questions...... Personally I feel a tip is at the discretion of the diner.

The waiter was really friendly and fast, he explained the menu to us perfectly. Best food I've had in the UK, was sensational. 10/10
