I travelled alone for a business trip and booked into a premier inn. This steak house was attached to the hotel. It was fantastic - got a great table for 1 in a quiet part of the restaurant. I was given bottled water and popcorn whilst I decided what I wanted. A young man came to take my order - he was very pleasant. My food arrived swiftly- it was fresh and piping hot. Thoroughly enjoyed my meal and it was excellent prices. Would definitely go again!

Although our night did not go to plan . My guest were disappointed with food ,food was wrong ( steaks messed up and fish not cooked) and cold and The manager tried her best to put things right . I would try again .

Gorgeous spot for dinner with chilled music in the background, divine food and really relaxed environment! Our mains were cooked to perfection but the sticky toffee pudding was a little dry, but other than that, an amazing place!

Don't believe the times that are listed. They declined to cook new food at 21:35 despite showing they're open until 23:00. Don't waste your time if you're eating late.

Arrived for late lunch and I can honestly say the steak was fantastic! Wade came out and introduce himself and recommend steaks and that was cooked to perfection! Thank you Wade your established and your team is absolutely great! See you soon

Started off good at the bar but the steak was shocking. Honestly can’t call this a steak place. Chewy under cooked steak. Explained it wasn’t good and she accepted then offered a free desert. I had to decline and leave after full payment. Premium cut in photo 🤦🏼‍♂️

Had the Chimichurri flatbread to start followed by the sea bass fillets with Meditteranean vegetables one early evening as part of the Premier Inn discounted food offer. All of the food was freshly made & tasted delicious! Thanks again to all involved!

Amazing food, great staff, and a lovely atmosphere. Took my friend for a quick meal, ended up staying for a full meal with the steak platter to share. Drinks were great ( Very cheap iced coffee 👌 ), Very quick from ordering to eating. Will be coming back here very soon

As fans of the Bar + Block on Waterloo Street we decided to try the newer one in Exchange Square. Big mistake. The staff treated us as though we were an inconvenience - none of them seemed to know what they were doing. We normally have steak but decided to try the Butcher's Banger Block. The presentation was poor, the cheddar and smoked bacon swirls were just pork sausages and they were badly burnt on the outside and did not appear properly cooked on the inside. The other sausages were really greasy. Half the chips were cold. No one came to check if we were happy with the meal and even when we pointed out why so much was left at the end, they didn't do anything. The manager was not in control, telling staff off on the restaurant floor in front of customers. We had a discount code and they didn't seem to know what to do with that. Needless to say we will not be visiting this restaurant again.

Delicious food. Lovely Steak Sampler dish. Waitress Marcella was just so sweet, polite and patient and very helpful. Thrilled to finally dine in a place where service charge is not automatically added to the bill and that if you choose to tip it goes directly to the waiting staff you had - this is just and fair based on your experience. Some tips for the business: - if you're going to offer a steak sampler dish at least inform the customer which steak is which. Otherwise how do we know our preference!? - it would be nice if you offered more veg options in the sides menu e.g. broccoli and asparagus, which are good with steak. It is particularly frustrating when broccoli is listed as part of a dish on the menu but isn't available as a side! - the music choice could be less intrusive i.e. less vocal and more instrumental choices of the same genre so the staff can hear customers call them. I tried several times to beckon any staff member and they simply couldn't hear me! Not their fault.

Had a lovely evening at Bar+Block last night. Delighted with the quality of the food, and its presentation. It also tasted amazing. Service was brilliant - special thanks to Amy for taking great car of us. Highly recommend this spot if you’re ever in Birmingham!

Sunday roast really poor - over cooked meats, cold veg…. Yet took best part of 45 minutes to cook despite being dead. Waste of money

Went with my partner for lunch today was quiet so we're allowed to pick where we sat had 2 lots of 2 course off the lunch time menu was given water and snacks when we sat down which was a lovely touch the food was beautiful I had a steak sandwich my girl had a burger we also had Mac bites which were wonderful and the fries were cooked to perfection would definitely go back wonderful value and the drinks were not over priced either

Once again, this restaurant served me a delightful meal, never disappoints. The 14oz ribeye steak with Chimichurri was epic and value for money is excellent too. Staff was helpful and super friendly as always.

The food was lovely, the restaurant was clean and the staff were great. For a quiet Monday night we had to wait nearly 90 minutes for our food though.

Myself and a friend went for the 2 for 1 cocktails. After being rudely informed by what appeared to be the manager that the drinks we ordered weren’t available due to poor stocking we asked what drinks we could order only to get the sharpest reply that left us none the wiser. Myself And my friend felt incredibly awkward And took our drinks outside as the atmosphere from the apart manager gave was so uncomfortable that we felt staying in her presence wasn’t going to provide an experience worth the money we spent. A big heads up to future guests if you endeavour to try to patronise this new establishment in Birmingham avoid going when the dark haired manger with a blonde dip dye is working go elsewhere as service with a smile isn’t probable And her spitting in your face would give a more welcoming experience.

TBH I didn't hold much hope, but overall I was pleasantly surprised. Ordered a pint of Prava, tomato brushetta (£5.50) and the 8oz rump (£19.50) medium rare. So a good price Well the service was quick and polite, the starter wasn't great, expected a little more and the steak looked poorly presented....but...the steak was fantastic. Beautifully cooked to perfection and tasted lovely. All I would say is add some lettuce wedge, mushrooms or something as standard to present it better. Thank you for dinner....loved it

Nothing to complain about, been here for Valentine's Day and they had a great deal available. The steak was perfectly cooked and the chimichuri was amazing. The beef burnt ends just tasted divine. One thing which I would say is that the cheese board needs some grapes on there but not a massive problem. Large selection of wines and cocktails.

Really enjoyed my food here. It wasn't cheap by any means but I would still definitely say it was good value. We had the 3 for £21 small plates for starters, squid, scallops and aisan beef.. all cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. For mains we had 2 10oz rib eye steaks and both were amazing. 100% we will be returning.

Seeking a cosy-good food and cocktails place? Search no more. Great food for great price ( 2 cocktails/ 2 appetizers/ 1 main for 40£). The staff was nice, food was great and they do 2 for 1 cocktails. I would definitely recommend it.

So, firstly they got three pre-booked orders wrong, that were delivered in writing the day before. Several dishes arrived cold, one with hair on it visible as can be. Steaks were the grade below, if you asked for medium rare you got rare. From a steakhouse?! Thankfully I like rare but wasn't feeling it. It took over an hour for our drinks to arrive at the table after they had delivered them to the wrong one. The server was also snappy with me when pointing out they hadn't arrived, she insisted she had dropped them off and I had to say not to us. Thankfully the gent behind the bar made replacements for the restaurants error. The organisation. If you have a table of 12 on a Saturday you might want more than just two bar staff for the whole venue, whoever runs this place, should not. They do not understand staffing, if it's a HO issue, the company does not which is worse. The efforts to correct the multitude of errors were nothing but the bare minimum from the duty manager, the actual manager was not to be seen. That's not to say they weren't pleasant to interact with, but it wasn't enough and hence this review. Children screaming well past 21:00 in fact being the reason we promptly left at 22:15. It's literally illegal for them to be there at that time thanks to the alcohol being served. As far as I'm aware latest license that allows children is 22:00. They would not stop screaming and there were no efforts from the restaurant to factor how this effected other guests. I cannot fault any of the servers, they are the only reason I didn't refuse to pay more than 50%. And I was close to that point, I've lived in this city my entire life, been to most restaurants it offers, heck review them regularly, and this was by far the biggest letdown Vs price I've had since Nightingales started watering down their spirits. If they want a better review, they need to really up their game and give me a reason to return as right now, it's nothing but an avoid. If by some chance the manager reads this, you need to put in a lot more effort especially given your location, you're setting yourself up to fail having a place ran like this. Chefs should know steak grading, staffing should be adequate, drinks should never take over an hour and there should never be issues with the food itself. I will give one point, I didn't have an allergic reaction so they are at least gluten safe.

Food was ok but portions too small. Overpriced for what you get, compared to other stakehouses. Service was lovely though.

We had a lovely evening! The customer service was great - happy to help and service with a smile. We had Christmas cocktails which were delicious and well presented. The food was incredible, meat melted in your mouth, everything flavoured to perfection. Definitely want to return!

Took my mum before we went to see a show in the city. Fantastic food! I had the butchers bangers and they were cooked beautifully! 10/10 for the food ! They also offered an entire menu for cocktails that went down a treat. Service by Lorena and Alex was incredible and will for sure be back again

Returned once again after several great experiences previously. Went around 5pm, wasn’t too busy but service was fantastic with Lorena as our main server food. Both food and drinks came in a timely menu and we were consistently checked back upon. The cocktails had a great extensive menu so tried the French Martini and Bakewell which were delightful. My main the spiral cut steak was wonderful and well cooked alongside the Brownie for dessert. Overall would recommend and will be back soon

Tommy and the server with curly hair did a super good bottomless brunch for us. The server with blonde hair and glasses couldn't have cared less. We were the only table in the restaurant and still had to get up and find someone to take our food order after almost 30 mins :/

The restaurant is clean and was very quiet. Staff seemed unsure whether lunch started eventhough I was there at 12pm. The service was ok and I appreciate the effort to check up on if the food was good. The food was nice and the prices was reasonable. I felt like the the korean chicken wings were barbecque wings and too much sauce and the brownie had a lot of toffee sauce and could have done with more ice cream but otherwise good portion sizes. Also I liked the idea of the butchers block showing the specials.

Went for dinner and drinks very recently at B+B exchange. Staff and management were very attentive. Had mac and cheese bites to start which were cooked very nicely. For mains we had the steak sampler which consists of 4oz fillet, sirloin and rump with chips and choice of sauce. All 3 steaks were cooked beautifully and the fact you get 3 cuts I think gives a nice variety to what you are eating. All perfectly seasoned. I would recommend going between the hours of 5pm-8pm as you are able to take full advantage of their 2-4-1's on cocktails! Cocktail list itself is quite extensive meaning that everybody should be able to find a drink that suits them. Atmosphere of both the bar and restaurant gives off a cosy yet sociable feeling. Would recommend Bar and Block Exchange to everybody and will definitely be dining here again in the near future.

Noisy when busy - hard acoustics. At breakfast, coffee machines running out of choice by 9am. Staff friendly tho. Later... no Fever Tree. Uncivilised..

Great steak house. They serve other food, but this is a steak house, so order that. Staff worked extremely hard to make sure we were well looked after. Little on the expensive side but worth it.

Grossly understaffed, but even the staff who are there are lazy, rude, and inattentive. If you like spending 2 hours for an average 2 course meal then by all means come here.

Had an amazing experience with Amy as our server. The cocktails on 2-4-1 were anmazing and very reasonably priced. The starters were well seasoned and tasty and appreciated being able to order a steak serving to our liking. Even with a 22oz serving the food came out quickly and the host checked back with us regularly to see how our experience was while communicating any menu changes for the day. The building is well lit, pleasant and well organised. Would certainly recommend.

Lots of management mistakes. There is obviously no staff in the kitchen, after ordering - you need to wait 1.5 hours for a steak, the waiters (only 3 people) running around pretending that everything is going according to plan.

This restaurant has just opened. We were welcomed by Dan the manager and he gave us lots of info on the area and the restaurant. The menu was fab and we struggled to decide. The prices were a little less than a popular steak restaurant we have visted before and the sides were sp much better. You can see into the kitchen and the restaurant is very light and modern. The staff were very helpful and the food was amazing, we will definitely visit again
