We were in bar using a voucher for pool and pizza deal,brilliant deal.

Got a Groupon and arrived early to have cocktails. Got given 2 pina coladas that tasted like vomit. I was reluctantly given a refund. Then we used our pizza, drink, and unlimited pool for an hour Groupon. It only cost £11 so I wasn't expecting anything great but we binned the pizzas, I left most of my vodka and coke and we were never able to play pool because we had to wait until the table was free even though we had to book in at a specific time. They had what must have been a school trip staying at the attached hostel, so there were kids in pyjamas walking around. Definitely not what you want in a bar. We left after half an hour.

Consiguió cupón Groupon para 2 principales, 2 lados y CUALQUIER 2 bebidas (reservado en línea). Desafortunadamente no volveremos. Cuando llegamos a preguntar sobre la reserva fue recibido por un trabajador grosero que enojado dijo que no estamos abiertos hasta las 4 PM! A pesar de que el letrero dice abierto desde la 1 PM. Nos fuimos y volvimos para ser recibidos de nuevo por este trabajador. Al poner orden en nos dijeron que solo poca selección (2 cervezas) alcohol estaban incluidos en el vale. Leí todas las huellas y nada que dijera esto. Ellos esperaron 40 minutos para que llegara la comida. Los aros de cebolla estaban fríos, las papas fritas estaban frías, la hamburguesa era insípida y las papas fritas estaban empapadas y horribles. No recomendaría esto a nadie y lamentablemente no volveré.

I went to bar 50 multiple times for the karaoke, and I’ve loved it every time. Dougie brings the best vibes and makes sure everyone has a good time, and I’ll make sure to be back!!

I think this bar is attached to a hostel and it also attracts quite a big student crowd, which is always nice (keeps it cheap and cheerful). I bought a Groupon voucher for burger, side and drink, and it was superb value. The original prices on the menu are already pretty reasonable so it’s defs a good spot for a bite and drink!

Horrendous first impression due to one of the rudest door supervisors I've ever come across. My friends and I chose to visit Bar 50 last night for a quick drink. We made our way through the outdoor area and entered through the door. I was first inside and spotted a door supervisor sat on a table and said hello and recieved no response. The last of our group entered and forgot to close the door behind him which prompted to the Door Supervisor to jump up and shout at him. I apologised on my friends behalf and we went on to the bar area. On reflection, this interaction has left a sour taste in my mouth. As a door supervisor, there is a huge emphasis on engaging with your customers and creating a welcoming atmosphere. This Door Supervisor fell well short of what I would want if I were the venue manager. The fact that we walked in and were polite and friendly should have, at the very least been mirrored by the Door Supervisor, as opposed to shouting at us for making a simple mistake. The fact that I've given 2 stars is purely reflected by the young lady behind the bar who was the polar opposite in her approach and was exactly what you'd hope for as a member of your bar team.

I have been going to bar fifty every week for nearly 4 months and it has always been amazing. The entertainment every nights is really good, specially Monday's pub quizzes. The rounds are super found but the highlight is the bonus rounds, every week we're different but still really fun. Also shout-out to Dougie, who hosts the pub quizzes and karaoke nights, he's amazing and makes everything 10 times better.

Had a fantastic evening here. Went to a fringe show and stayed for the karaoke! The guy (sorry I didn't get your name) running the karaoke was an absolute gem! Had the funnest night. Everyone was great and nothing like a bit of karaoke to bring people together at the end of the night <3 all my love - georgina

Don't eat here. Turned out they ran out of beef for the smash burger. Switched to fish and chips and was told that would be £1 more. Ok... and then found they were out of that too. Chicken it is. Had to check on the order after 30 minutes. Burger was poor. Beer was good. Only drink here.

I saw 3 x shows here as part of the Free Fringe and had a lime and soda. Reviewing mainly for their really open attitude to hosting shows of performers with different disabilities or whatever the current term now is and the free Fringe in general. I saw Ivor Dembina's "A Millwall Jew", "The Disabled Cants" (featuring the self-named Benny Shakes who does have a shake) and Raul Kohli's "Crowdwork Hour". A really mixed line-up and all of them excellent and with audiences who were well up for jt. Not sure how the venue is from a performers perspective but from this grateful audience member I was really impressed. The lime and soda was on the money on a baking hot day. Many thanks.

Pizza’s greased with cheese and oil and wrong burgers served… we could exchange the filthy pizza for some pints though, so that was nice, but not recommended to eat. Atmosphere and service is fine

Tenía un vale para un plato y cócteles. Reservamos una mesa para las 7 pm. Entró, no hay mesa reservada para nosotros! Pedí comida y bebidas. Conseguimos nuestras bebidas, 40 minutos después todavía no había comida, subimos y preguntamos por ello, para que nos dijeran que está en camino. Después de una hora de espera por comida no existente tuvimos que irnos ya que teníamos que estar en otro lugar. Así que básicamente tenemos nuestros cócteles pero no hay comida para nuestro vale. ¡Desperdicio absoluto de dinero! Definitivamente no recomendaría! ¡Pobre!

We had great chicken wings the first night and then they had a large group coming in and could service us. The third day most of the beer choices were not available. A Great place for people watching, I recommend you eat somewhere else.

Bar tenders just rude and ignorant waited for 20mins they just served some man came after me and when I asked to be served they were just rude and trying to shut me up

Bar 50 has become increasingly UNRELIABLE when it comes to FOOD. Don't be surprised if you arrive & find out that the chef has quit earlier that day and that the kitchen will be closed so they won't be serving food till they find another chef. Albeit, vouchers from Groupon/Wowcher are always a good value!

Went in on a weekday at 6:30pm to eat and have some drinks and it was full of literal children, like actual 8-14 year olds hanging about. Maybe it was a birthday party or something, but a kids birthday at a bar is extremely strange, felt like we were at a youth club lol. Food was decent but would avoid based on the atmosphere.

Lovely bar. Staff are really friendly, although at busy times they could do with the extra support. We arrived with quite a big group and asked for the music to change as there was some sort of classical sounding music on & the manager said “we’re not a nightclub”, better music creates a better atmosphere so even in a bar, this is the bare minimum. Despite that, the prices are great, beer garden is fab & location is good aswell

Based on the comments we went there with group on vaucher to have lunch. But they said they do not have chef and we can come another time to use restaurant. As I see from comments they asked many people who have vaucher. If you do not service please close app, or let us know over app. Not in restaurant

Lovely staff. Brilliant atmosphere. They run open karaoke every Thursday and Friday. if you like singing, you will have so much fun. ps: Thank you Douglas and V for making my trip in Edinburgh amazing!

Great inside outside vibe... mixing with all sorts as its also a tourist hostel...

La barra 50 se ha vuelto cada vez más POCO CONFIABLE cuando se trata de ALIMENTOS. No se sorprenda si llega y descubra que el chef ha renunciado más temprano ese día y que la cocina estará cerrada para que no sirvan comida hasta que encuentren otro chef. Aunque, los vales de Groupon/Wowcher siempre son una buena relación calidad-precio!

They even give us water and are kind. I watched the Euro 2024 soccer game and there was no discomfort.

It was too crowded, maybe because of the Edinburgh Marathon which I enjoyed. Nice clean stay for sure. The bar ambiance was great 😃

Came here on Saturday as a friend had booked a room. Had been wanting to come here for quite some time prior. We ended up leaving quite early as service was so bad. We tried to use the app to order drinks but the app/ barcode wasn't working. So had to que for drinks and was waiting up to 20 plus minutes just to be served. So ended up going across the road and staying there. Lovely venue, can't comment on food as didn't order any. Essentially when you go out for drinks, you want to be able to get drinks without spending more time queuing than socialising with your mates. Was busy but not packed. Music good & seems popular with students, but without a student discount we found the drinks on the slightly higher side than average. Shame as was really looking forward to coming here.

More of a sports bar with a great outdoor area over 2 floors

I had to attend due to an event. Can't say I will visit again. The kitchen was closed even though it was early. The place looked uncared for.

Visit Bar 50 often. As we are local we are really spoiled for choice but really like the atmosphere/food/staff in this bar. Once again visited today for food and once again great food/great service. We usually have great service with all bar staff . Once again today, 2 girls behind bar excellent service .keep up the good work 👍

Miserable staff especially Louie took forever to get any service when the place was completely empty won’t be back also Ided my 26 year old pal

If you like slow service and sullen staff, this is the place for you. Waited 1 hr 45 mins for my order to arrive. The food itself was OK but not worth 105 minutes of tedium in a place that resembled your local morgue.

Crowded teen party place with over priced drinks

Fairly quiet bar located near the centre of Edinburgh. 👍 Prices are decent. They do karaoke on certain nights & great location for playing pool. Staff are all friendly & approachable. The only issue I have is that they have an outside garden area but are not allowed to take any drinks outside though. But apart from that decent bar! 👌

Ok but I will not return to stay here again but the drink tunes are fine but full of loads of people from all over the world. I really enjoyed my time in Scotland.

Ordered some nachos (super expensive at £15 but thought it might be a large portion!) - they didn’t arrive so after about 40 minutes we went to the bar to chase the order, took around HALF AN HOUR at the bar to be served, to be told ‘they’re coming dont worry’ - about 1 hour 40 mins after we ordered they finally arrived, the portion was tiny and half the nacho chips were dark brown (super burnt) and tasted horrid. Everyone else at the table had their food in under 20 mins, we really weren’t impressed :(

Rooms are very basic but everything else makes up for it, a smashing place. Very highly recommend

What is with the rule your don't serve people in tracksuit bottoms, you just lost the sale of almost 11 people who planned to come here, but all had to leave because the guy behind the bar refused to serve them because 2 was wearing tracksuit bottoms,

We made a booking online but got turned away when we arrived as the barman didn't like what I was wearing.. Quite odd.. I wouldn't mind but the place was half empty too.

my friend got kicked out by someone behind the bar for being “too drunk” despite only having a single pint that night, the bartender nor the bouncer would not give us any specific reason to why my friend got kicked out, so my other friends talked to the bouncer and described that my friend is AUTISTIC and doesn’t act like the average person, my friend got let back in and then IMMEDIATELY kicked out again, and my partner got upset because the bouncer would not give us any information and was being COMPLETELY discriminatory, so the bouncer physically THREW my partner out of the door and they now have a BROKEN FOOT because of the physicality of the bouncer. i am ABSOLUTELY APPALLED. this establishment is abliest and horrifying in its treatment of its customers. my friends and i would regularly frequent Bar 50 almost weekly and we will never again do so.

Shocking service from staff an security. My self an a few friends where out on a Thursday night an decided to entre Bar 50. Big mistake. We where treated like we where not welcome even tho it was not buzy, told by security that this place wasn't for us??? What does that mean? We weren't drunk or causing mischief. Out faces just didn't fit Such a shame as I'm from Edinburgh, don't go out often an this happens. #forgeting the locals seams to be the new norm for places like this

Came here while visiting Edinburgh with my friends from the states, was a really good place to stay till the end ! the karaoke was class, we all had a blast. Friendly door staff and good prices. Only problem was the toilets were absolutely wrecked with sick everywhere, doesn't hurt to get someone in and clean it up ! I ended up using the all genders one instead of the mens.

Food was great, atmosphere was okay and the drink princes changed three times even though the order never changed…the pool table was in terrible condition and the cue’s were too small

Katie and the staff at the bar treated my family to a great afternoon recently⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had the pizza and 1 hour of pool deal,and the pizzas were up there with the best we’ve tried. Proper home made,right out of the oven. Definitely recommend this place for a chilled out after with the family 😁 Service was a big fat 10/10 ⭐️ Thanks again.

Had a very bad experience. Staff totally unhelpful. Booked online and saw I could book a Wowcher voucher, so booked table for same evening, but when I went to buy voucher I couldn't redeem it without making a booking through Wowcher. It would not accept bookings for the same day. I contacted Bar 50, but after several occasions of explaining my situation, they made excuse after excuse not to honour my voucher and eventually stopped communicating with me. They tried to tell me that they didn't accept vouchers on a Saturday, yet their booking system allowed me to book under the Wowcher section and Wowcher clearly states that it is available until 6pm on a Saturday. They are very ignorant of their offer, very unhelpful and offer a very poor customer service. They are certainly not customer focused, as they would not go out of their way to help me, or accommodate me. I'm only visiting so I can't use the voucher any other day, so their loss. Either way they do not deserve my custom, as plenty of other places will treat me much better.

I've never made a review but I have to say the chips we received were terrible. The chips were brown and small like they had been refried over 5 times. The waiter saw we didn't finish half our food and didn't say anything. I hate to be that person who complains about food since I also work in a kitchen but I have to say I was really unimpressed. Any chippy serves better than that. Would never go again.

Me and friends were uptown last night for a night out, we had about an hour and a half to find somewhere for a bite to eat and drinks before we went for pre-booked karaoke. We decided to book a table online for bar 50 for food and drink. When we got there the bouncer told us to tell the bar staff that we had arrived. We had hoped to be seated and served. We waited about 15 minuites at the bar but weren't served. It was busy but I feel like mostly men were being served by the female barstaff. We were hungry and fed up up waiting to be seen, so we left and found somewhere else, terrible service. Not how you'd expect a booking to go, esp if going out for food. We won't be back.

Forse non sarà un ambiente tipico perché sembra più una sala giochi con tanti divanetti e poltrone e qualche tavolino ma il cibo è ottimo così come il servizio. Ad ogni modo pur non sembrando un ambiente scozzese è molto accogliente e rilassante.

The atmosphere is ok, with good music. But they have two billiards tables in the middle and that's quite annoying. The food was terrible! I ordered a burger and the bun was hard as a rock, the patty was overcooked and hard as a shoe...it tasted like it was made the day before. I had to return it. The waitress was kind and refunded it.

Had a swift pint ,and moved on to another venue, nice place , but had a meeting to get to.

We had booked a nearby hotel and decided on a Groupon deal which was very good value. It was a Tuesday night so not particularly busy however when we entered, we seemed to be standing at the bar for a good 10 mins with no one in sight to serve. Our deal consisted of 2 x starters 2 x mains and either a beer or wine for £22. Starters were haggis balls which were beautiful and portion size very generous. 2nd starter was homemade fries, again very nice. Mains were chilli con carne with rice and nachos, the chilli was very dry and bland, I would rate under average. 2nd Main was mac n cheese, it looked good but was again quite bland. Rose wine was fab also. I would give this place another try just to give benefit of the doubt as most reviews seem to be positive. This is a large bar with plenty seats, tvs and a few pool tables.

Karaoke on Thursday’s is best place to be in Edinburgh! I cannot stress this enough. The drinks and shot list are great, but I stayed for the karaoke! A must visit!

Have been several times to watch the Scotland games. Was disappointed tonight that they opted for a DJ at 7pm instead of the football commentary. The karaoke after the football was quite entertaining. A good atmosphere Will give it another go for the football and take it from there...

Seemed fairly new to me and will kitted out. Spacious with the upstairs and downstairs area. Plenty of screens and a pool table too. I was here for a festival comedy act and the rooms for that were fine. Would come back to visit for just the pub facilities too. Decent selection of drinks and friendly service.

Pub accogliente con prezzi in linea. Cibo discreto, birra e cocktails buoni. Ambiente esterno ed interno molto belli, ideali per festeggiare o chiacchierare davanti a una birra.

Came here with my partner, 2 dogs and my parents for some food and drink before a fringe show. Staff are so accommodating and immediately got water for the dogs and welcomed us. Food was great. Some amazing deals to be had at this place. Lovely atmosphere. Will be back 😊

This bar is one of the best I've ever been. The karaoke nights really made it a special place for me on my travels abroad I wish I can rate higher than a 5!!!!

Had a lovely hot chocolate as it had just started raining on us. Then we went outside and upstairs and had a whole table for 7 and we had drinks as we blethered and listened to the rain outside. It was fabby 👌

The starters was sooooo good! We love the tempura prawn.

We went here for the Champions league final. Very good visable screens and got what we requested table-wise from the booking. Unfortunately you have to buy 4 drinks each upon a visit to the bar as we had to wait 30+ minutes each time we went to the bar. In doing this missed almost an hour of the football. Plenty of staff behind the bar however only 3 or 4 actually serving. Would possibly be different on a quieter night without an event on so wouldnt rule out going back but this first experience was very poor compared to other pubs.
