Baozi Inn in City of London, Westminster

Having read other reviews was expecting something a bit special, instead experienced a culinary disaster. Ordered the seaweed salad, crispy fried chicken and king prawns and then pork wonton in hot broth. The seaweed was close to inedible, slimy and covered in raw garlic. Only one taste and that was the garlic, we left it after a couple of bites, even the Chinese lady sitting next to us could only manage a mouthful. The fried food was poor, the batter dominated, and left the prawns dry. The wontons were passable but the broth had no flavour and seasoning, just an insipid liquid with chopped spring onions/chives. Best advice keep on walking, plenty of much better restaurants in Chinatown.

Having visited China the food here is very very similar. The restaurant was also full of Chinese people eating. However for the UK palate you may find the fat on the beef and pork less and the gelatenous texture to the glass noodles than desirable. The pork dumplings were very good. The turn over is high so the waiter brought the bill whilst we were still drinking as they were keen to move us on. Not a restaurant for taking your time. Eat and go!

I am not sure why but Chinese restaurants never seem to score high marks, although for anyone who lives in London and has seen Chinatown develop over the last twenty years or so, you will know the very high levels of cuisine that have now been reached. I found the quality of the Sichuan food here totally excellent. I had wonderful prawns, sublime dumplings in chill oil and superb Dan Dan noodles. The quality of everything was extremely high, a shame though they couldn’t serve a cold beer to go with their wonderful cuisine. Can’t wait to go back.

I had the spicy Pork Dumplings and Dan Dan noodles. Both were delicious and I loved the strong garlic flavour with the dumplings. Lovely warm heat from the dishes. Good choice of food and drink on the menu and good service.

The food was delicious, hot and served quickly. The restaurant is not posh with fancy furniture but a more rustic place, it was comfortable and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Not the nicest setting but the dan dan noodles are great. Dumpling are good however I would avoid the spring rolls as they came out to us cold. Service is ok. Better to sit downstairs than upstairs if you get the choice.

I have tried some dumplings and fried pork which was very good and tasty. I took it as a takeaway packed in convenient boxes which I really liked. However the portions were extremely small for that price, especially as you can find much cheaper options somewhere else in Chinatown .

What a pathetic excuse of a restaurant business. We arrived and got put in a really uncomfortable corner. We asked to move and he just waved around the restaurant to suggest we can sit anywhere, so we moved to another part. You know when you order something and the waiter gives you nods or some sort of acknowledgement that they hear what you have just told them? Yeah no that didn't happen here. After every item we ordered we felt like we had to ask him if that was okay. After we received our food we were still waiting for our water and asked a lady if we could please have some and she brought it over to us straight away. When we finished the water we asked if we could have some more and the waiter we asked just turned around without a word. We weren't sure if he heard us but he came back 2 minutes later with a jug and my attention must have been somewhere else for 0.2 seconds because when he got to the table HE SNAPPED HIS FINGERS AT US, indicating that I should pass him my glass. I have never ever felt so shocked. We asked if he had seriously just snapped his fingers at us and he just smirked... We honestly couldn't believe it. The food was average. Lacked flavour in most dishes. 1 star for that. The whole team (apart from the older woman) was appalling.

Never before has a waiter clicked his fingers in my face to get my attention, until I came here. I asked him if he just clicked at me like I was a dog, to which he replied "yes" and laughed.

They changed the owner recently and this is not a good place to go. The price is expensive and the portion is tiny. The taste is mediocre and NOT Taiwanese food at all(I am from Taiwan). Avoid it at all cost. Try a different place in Chinatown and skip this one. We were looking for a different restaurant but they closed and it was raining heavily and we were cold and wanted something to eat.

Liked the look of the outside, quick search online, yep, sounds good, went inside. Seated quickly, table for two, little metal stools, given menus fast. I liked the cosy feel, dim lighting, nice atmosphere. We ordered Dan Dan Noodles with pork and water (oh, no alcoholic drinks menu, never mind!), I went for sparkling, my companion for 'not sparkling'. 'You mean still?' the waiter said and grinned. First and only time he smiled, but it wasn't just us, I noticed him putting a bowl down at a different table without a smile/word, so it's just his manner. The food was very tasty with a spicy heat. The bill (because no booze) was really reasonable. I'd definitely go again if in Chinatown and try something else. Don't worry, the service wasn't hostile, just not very warm! I don't want obsequious service, but a smile or two would make such a difference.

È stata una bellissima occasione, i Baozi sono speciali, veramente deliziosi ma soprattutto digeribilissimi...dopo una cena molto sostanziosa ci sentivamo comunque leggeri!! I prezzi economici e il personale molto disponibile, a volte forse un po’ troppo!😁 Ci torneremo sicuramente, Consigliatissimo!!

Enjoyed the Chengdu-style wontons with spicy broth, wood-ear mushrooms with chili, and skewered lamb meat. Everything is tasty here, friendly/prompt service, and reasonably priced menu. Stools aren’t very comfy.

Group of four squeezed into the tight quarters. We all enjoyed our food. Dan Dan noodles were great. Server had few words to say to us. Sort of felt like we were an inconvenience to him.

Regularly swing by the takeaway hatch for a big tasty steamed bun. Have tried pork and vegetable ones and they are both delicious. Would recommend.

Muy recomendable! Entre semana, a mediodía tienen un menu con un plato grande y tres pequeños por 10 libras. Los platos fuera de eso tampoco son caros y todo está buenisimo, el sitio es acogedor y los camareros agradables tenienfo en cuenta que son orientales en inglaterra, os dejo las fotos de los noodles con pollo clasicos, mapo tofu y sopa de wantoon de cerdo clasicos, los dos últimos estan increibles, pero pican bastante.

If you were disappointed by Bar Shu, Baozilnn is the place to go. Authentic sichuan noodle dishes and a crowdy but nice atmosphere will await you.

La comida blanda y el pollo parecían estar poco hechos. El personal muy grosero que nos gritó pedidos y reprendió a una persona cerca de nosotros cuando dijo que había un error con su pedido.

Leí las reseñas aquí antes de visitar y me alegro de haberlo hecho para tener una idea de qué esperar de esta experiencia. Nuestra mesa de comedor era un poco incómoda para navegar con el equipaje, pero supongo que el visitante promedio no tiene una maleta a cuestas. Nuestro camarero fue abrupto y hasta el punto, pero de nuevo, me esperaba basado en las críticas. Teníamos 2 platos principales y una fuente de dim sum y ambos disfrutamos toda la comida. El precio es correcto, la comida es excelente. ¡Volvería sin dudarlo!

Had Chongqing noodle and Chengdu dumplings. Both were good. The noodle is not spicy or numbing enough but still pretty good. Big baize is somewhat plain with not enough typical baize flavor.

Siamo stati accolti e fatti sedere per ordinare il cibo ma neanche mezz'ora dopo, 5 minuti dopo essere stati serviti, hanno iniziato a spegnere le luci, spegnere la musica e pulire tutto il locale sbattendo le porte e per concludere ci hanno letteralmente lanciato il conto sul tavolo nonostante non lo avessimo ancora chiesto poiché stavamo ancora mangiando.

I wish I was being dramatic when I say that this is probably the worst Chinese food I’ve ever been served. We were a party of 5 and ordered a good variety of dishes but not one them was worth the calories.

BaiziInn's food was tasty and filled you up. There was just something about the ambiance and feel of the place that felt like a chain or fast casual dining. I had the pork Baozi which was tasty, but a bit unflavored. The Den Den noodles were very good as long as you enjoy sesame and pork. There is nothing wrong with this place, but after leaving I couldn't help but feel I wasted a meal in ChinaTown.

Went with my son to see a film at the Prince Charles theatre. He suggested this restaurant as being good. Totally different food to the local Chinese Takeaway and absolutely delicious. It was also my first time using chop sticks which had my son in fits of laughter but at least it meant I took my time over the dish! Had spicy beef noodle soup. Good service and well priced food.

Was in London for a long weekend. While shopping we picked the restaurant at random and the food was a delightful surprise. Had to wait a few minutes for a table to be available but the wait was worth it. All three in our party enjoyed the meals ordered. We would definitely return next time in London.

Visted here for the beed noodles. The beef was succulent with the spicy beef stock very flavoursome -- would recommend and have visted a few tmes since.

My favourite Chinese street food restaurant BaoziInn has opened at Market Hall Victoria. For sure I visited them and tasted colourful dim sums. They are all to die for

Dare to walk in and you feel very unwelcome, the person serving would rather be doing anything but asking what you want. When it arrives and you eat the food you forget all this because the food is fantastic. I've seen many similar reviews so I guess if this combination works for them then why change it?

We ordered zhajiang noodles, dumpling in XO sauce, skewered chestnut mushrooms, custard sweet buns, and boiled vegetables. Overall the service was great as the waitress was attentive and efficient. However, the food was average at best. The pork in the Zhajiang noodles tasted very gamy, and overly strong, to the point where it empowered over the taste of the sauce. The custard filling in the sweet buns were pretty bland and was overall very average. The most impressive dish was the dumplings and they tasted quite authentic and delicious. There wasn't much to say about the mushrooms and vegetables as those were very basic dishes.

This is a very cozy place, the quality of the food was good and also the price. Specially for tourist, they have furniture that helps you to be comfortable without getting worried about your bags or jackets.The place is packed but very lovely people.

Food was taste overall good. We had the spicy stewed beef shin noodles was really nice but it wasn't as spicy as it looked. The beef was very tender and juicy. The Stewed pork ribs noodles were good as well. Love the mushroom in it because they have soaked up all the savoury soup. The sweet and sour pork ribs was a bit disappointed because they were a bit dry so it was hard to chew. A bit like sugar glaze pork jerky. The food came out very fast though.

Locale sopravvalutato anche dalla guida lonely planet! Niente Udon e lo scopriamo dopo aver ordinato, ordiniamo menù fisso, arriva solo 1 cosa è non i vari contorni in foto. Super speziato, nonostante avessi chiesto uno dei 2 piatti con poco piccante. Alla fine siamo andati dal Jen cafe’ accanto. Molto meglio.

The food was fast and fairly good although I'd argue the menu isn't very specific in regards to what you're getting. We ordered two noodle bowls but there was little broth and the presentation wasn't anywhere near as nice as the pictures on TripAdvisor, just dumped to an extent for my meal. The sweet potato fries was odd as the bao was presented on the menu as "pork with sweet potato" which gave a very different impression. The food was overall good but I must say I have had better, particularly with the lack of vegetables and broth which I prefer personally. I would recommend this place but I think the menu could be more descriptive to indicate what you're actually getting.

There are a lot of choices in this area, but we decided to try this restaurant since it’s small and cozy. The food was good and prices what you would expect for this tourist trap area. My one complaint is the poor service. Waiters were generally uninterested and preferred communicating in grunts.

We had three different kinds of baozi, all delicious, the skewer platter, spicy beef and noodle broth and dumplings. To say it was all finger licking good wouldn't do it justice.

As I no longer live in London, I always want to have a nice meal in Chinatown in my favourite restaurants. However, last time lot has changed, including the menu, which didn't have the dishe that I was craving for. Yet the lunch menu was excellent alongside the service! I had some noodles with mince beef and some small side dishes, all included as part of the lunch menu. Everything for less than £9 (service and drink not included), but if you don't pay in cash you need to spend at least £12 to use your debit card.

This is not a smart place, it’s small with basic decor and seating. There is a printed menu and some extras on blackboards on the wall. No alcoholic drinks but a variety of teas and mock tails.
