Lots of hype but does not deliver. So much hype of the Chinese restaurant Canton blue in the Peninsula hotel makes me even more disappointed that if it were just a plain Chinese restaurant. The place is not ugly but not particularly nice either, service is attentif and good. The dim sums were very bland and in the low in quality and taste. Noddles were ok but nothing outstanding. The duck which many people raved about was very disappointing, presentation was good but they did not remove skin from meat and each bite was much too heavy and greasy. Usually skin is served separate from meat. All in all its not a top London Chinese and prices are some of the highest in London.

Came here on the second day of cny. Ordered from the cny menu. Service was initially quite efficient. The waiter took my order and my first dish arrived. The time gap between the first and second dish was too long, reminded the staff on 2 separate occasions but stil had to wait quite a bit for the rest to come. The staff generally left me on my own and didn't once come to enquire if everything was ok. Food was tasty, prices are high reflecting the location.

We have really enjoyed my visit at the Canton Blue for the Chinese New Year and our anniversary celebration. This was our first time visiting the Peninsula Hotel after its opening so we were really excited. The deco was beautiful with all the traditional Chinese plates and tea cups as wall decorations. We also love the background music which reminds us of the time back home in China. As a Cantonese myself, I can say the food was quite authentic and delicious. We had the Lunar New Year menu and we particularly liked the Tenderloin, Fried Seabass Fillet and the BBQ pork. Also the service was attentive and seamless. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. A special THANK YOU to Carmen, Shijie, Eliza, David and Stephen!

The restaurant is staggeringly beautiful with very private seatings. The service is immaculate and the table is set beautifully. Nothing is too much trouble at Canton Blue. The food is very good and all beautifully presented. The Peking duck is definitely the best in London. The dim sums are good as well and there is a very decent selection at dinner time. Prices reflect the location but it is a fantastic evening destination.

Embark on a culinary odyssey at Canton Blue, nestled within the refined embrace of Peninsula Hotel London. As soon as you enter the restaurant, the aroma of centuries-old culinary traditions welcomes you into a world where gastronomy is elevated to an art form. The dining room, a symphony of muted yellow, red and blue hues and understated luxury, sets the stage for an evening of unparalleled indulgence. Seated beneath the soft glow of elegant china plates, the menu, a meticulous curation of Cantonese delights, pays homage to the rich tapestry of Chinese cuisine while embracing contemporary flair. Begin the culinary sojourn with delicate dim sum, each morsel a testament to the precision of the kitchen's craft. The Peking duck, a star on Canton Blue's gastronomic constellation, arrives with a theatrical flourish, its crispy skin and succulent meat promising a symphony of textures and flavours. Canton Blue, at the Peninsula Hotel London, is not merely a restaurant; it's a sanctuary for the epicurean soul. Here, every ingredient is a protagonist, and every dish a chapter in a gastronomic novel that unfolds with each impeccably timed course.

Very excited about our annual family Christmas Celebration. I am gluten free ( coeliac ) so when booking we made restaurant aware I then personally rang them and was assured they could accommodate me and the menu could be changed or was Gluten free. When we arrived with all the family I was told I could only have one starter one main course ,no noodles … As GF person due to health the last thing you want is to be the awkward on on the table - so as the rest of the table ordered food to share I had my individual food which the lobster was not in the rice noodle the waiter said but five lumps on a plate… Having said all of this the staff were very attentive telling me what I could & couldn’t eat .. when everyone had the duck ( a must ) they gave me lettuce leaves . I wish I had known it was going to be awkward from the beginning or even told we can’t accommodate Coeliac / Gluten Free people as it caused me and the rest of my family some anxiety at what should have been a celebratory evening. So I write this review for the GF community perhaps not the best place for us, for the rest of you it’s great.

The place is nice and elegant We ordered many items but the good one was the deck The waitress didn't advise us if the quantity was enough or more than enough We were 3 and the order can be good for 8 But we thought it was small portions The waitresses or the master who take people to the table or take their coats should be more relaxed Food in general normal

Beautiful decor, very good and attentive service, good dim sum (but not exceptional), disappointing main course. But above all the issue was the atmosphere - all we could here was the clatter of plates in the kitchen the whole time. They seem to have positioned the plate clearing right by the door to the kitchen, which was kept open the whole time. At first we had a table right next to this: it was unbearable - not only noisy but hot and humid - we were sweating!! Then they moved us - much cooler but still the same issue with the kitchen noise. As my friend said it was like being in a local din sun restaurant in Hong Kong or a food court in Singapore! I am hoping it is teething problems but no plans to go back. Such a shame and such a waste!

Having been and stayed at the peninsula hotel in Hong Kong and eaten at the Spring moon restaurant there , the finest eating experience in the world, We were looking forward to eating at its sister restaurant in london , the canton blue in the peninsula Hotel in london. What a let down . The menu is limited nothing more than an English style Chinese restaurant , the dim sum average , the main course poor.. Why oh way has nobody from the dining dept at the hotel visited the one in HK and brought the Cantonese menu from the Spring Moon to its London equivalent . All that money spent on the london hotel and they serve up expensive third rate Chinese food, baffling to say the least . Why not copy the HK menu ???????????? Are there not great Chinese chefs in london? Can they not get one from HK??? The bar in the canton was also average , playing monotonous music , in 10 seconds riffs . We have been telling our friends for years about our wonderful experience in HK. And how we were looking forward to dining at the london hotel. How to burst peoples bubble . Yours john and kathryn wilkins Date of visit, 16 November

We celebrated our engagement at Canton Blue with a fabulous lunch. The food was amazing, especially the dim sum and the sea bass. The service was excellent. Special mention to Anthony who kept the champagne flowing and helped us with the menu selection. Also to Chef Dickie who came to congratulate us personally and prepared a special desert for the occasion. Highly recommend.

Where do i start? I had high expectation of this restaurant as it had the Peninsula label/brand, a world renowned hotel. Having visited the Spring Moon in Hong Kong Peninsula I had high hopes. The décor is beautiful but that's about it! The food was terrible the only good dish we had was the Peking Duck. All the dishes were overly salty the dim sum were not fresh, the BBQ pork (char siu) was not fresh and lacked flavour, the Wok-Fried Dry-Aged Ribeye, Black Bean Sauce lacked flavour or the aroma of black bean or garlic ,Stir-Fried Noodles, Bean Sprouts, Chives, Dark Soy Sauce again lacked flavour and no char taste which is distinctive in Chinese Cuisine. All the dishes we ordered looked and taste the same (SALTY) unfortunately the chef in charge were unable to grasp each individual dishes distinctive flavours. (more training and research are needed). I have been in the catering industry since I was 18 ( and that was a long time ago, cough cough) my parents had a Chinese restaurant which were featured in the Egon Ronay guide 2 years running (for those of you old enough to remember Egon Ronay) so I'd like to think I know what I'm talking about. The standard of food was shocking it makes my local Chinese Takeaway a Michelin star, over all I will never be returning to Canton Blue, I can get better food elsewhere with out the high price tag. I totally understand it is hard to find good chefs in this day and age, having owned and worked in a Chinese Restaurant but I really expected more from the Peninsula as they have the power to pay a good wage for an experience chef and most chefs will be privileged to work for the Peninsula brand so come on find a good authentic chef. I do not normally post any reviews at all as I have accepted good chefs are hard to find and please don't complain, but the experience I had at Canton Blue was shocking. Until they improve don't bother going there and save your money. BTW I have nothing against the chef nor do I know the chef I'm just stating facts! Service was OK nothing special whereas the Ritz was amazing attentive and they made you feel really special. At Canton Blue it was only an OK, nothing special but with the price tag of the food the service should have been amazing even if the food was not. If the food was amazing I would not care if the waiting staff ignored me and I would still go back.

Opened a month ago so early days and first visit. Those are my caveats. Beautiful restaurant, decors, lighting, cutlery, wine glasses and very warm service. The floor should be particularly congratulated. Sadly, the cuisine is not very inspiring. No work on the visuals, it is just another insipid, me-too type of cuisine that you can taste in many London restaurants. This is a shame particularly in an Asian hotel with so much financial power. Really pretty restaurant. I hope this is just the early days. If not, this is just a copy-paste of so many average Chinese eateries (if that means something of course) that one could eat at across London. It is not because you put dull food on nice plates that they suddenly become great. I tried this at home and sadly it does not work! Will come back in a few months time to see if my first visit was on a day-off. But congratulations to the staff on the floor. Superb service.
