New China London Restaurant in City of London, Westminster

Had a lovely meal with my husband here, nice atmosphere & a nice meal. Will be returning next tome in London.

Acabo de cenar en este restaurante y nunca volveré. Nuestra comida tardó en llegar y cuando llegó la mitad, la comida de mi esposo llegó antes que la mía y luego apareció la mitad de la mía. Cuando apareció el resto, todo estaba frío. Nos quejamos a la camarera que dijo que hablaría con el gerente. Nuevamente esperamos por siempre y luego apareció nuestra factura. Nuevamente nos quejamos de nuestra comida y pensamos que tal vez una disculpa sería agradable, pero no, se esperaba que pagáramos la factura completa más el 10% de servicio. Muy mal servicio al cliente, pero a nadie parecía importarle, ¡todo lo que les preocupaba era los vagabundos en las sillas y sacar a la gente! ! ¿No puedo verbalizar mi decepción lo suficiente?

Stopped into this place after reviewing the menu posted outside and we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and the service.For 19 pound a head which is cheap for London we were served their 8 course banquet which included a selection of dumplings, dim sims etc and the mains were chicken, pork, fish and meat dishes.All were excellent and we left the restaurant with a full belly.So instead of playing chinese restaurant roulette when in china Town go straight for this one. I thoroughly recommend it

I wish I could remember if I’ve been to this restaurant or the other one at the opposite. Perhaps just a couple of doors down.Let’s just call it the “Chinese Roulette” when you get into china town starving, looking for place to have food and can’t pick the right one. Don’t you worry they will find you by the restaurants entrance and kindly invite you to spend your money there. Don’t get yourself fooled just choose the nicest Chinese lady with the menu in her hands. Unsure what to eat? Ask them what they recommend and they will point on something where your menu is open. Never from a different page even if the menu is like a novel. All tastes the same anyway and you can’t go wrong with it. You will either end up having noodles or rice.Honestly I love chinese food, try one of the places you feel ok.There was a man sitting at the next table wore a rolex (not sure if it was real). But this man made me feel I made the right choice coming here. ;)

Visited the New China Restaurant whilst walking through china town on our way from Covent Garden to Euston station as they offered a vegetarian set meal for two that looked pretty interesting. I have to admit they were busy and we could not be seated straight away and I had no problem with that. What was a little odd though was whilst waiting upstairs for a while we were told to wait downstairs. Then waiting downstairs we were then told to wait in the stairwell. But this bustling about did not last too long and we were eventually shown to a table upstairs. Food was good (not wow - but pretty tasty), service was fast and friendly and the bill (with drinks and service) was just £55 - so pretty happy with that. Would visit again if in the area.

Went here with my family and had the set meal for 4. We sat upstairs had a lovely waiter serving us and was very polite and when my step-dad split soy sauce on the spinning round clear table! The sweet and sour chicken was the best dish! Filled us all up very quickly and all 4 of us enjoyed the food so much.

SHORT STORY: DON’T BOTHER! Terrible service. Long Story; The menu looked good. And very inviting (upstairs restaurant, we were seated downstairs amongst frantic waiters and cramped tables) Placed an order of bubble teas and the drinks came without too much of a wait. Ordering food was little more chaotic. Placed order for vegetarian set menu for two, then ordered two meat dishes for my daughter and husband to share, ordered rice and soup. The meat dishes came out after approximately 30mins wait and I said they should tuck in as we were all hungry. I had to ask for rice so at least my daughter and husband could eat. They brought one small bowl of rice. At this point I asked for vegetarian dumplings to be added to our order and some steamed vegetables. The soup then arrived but no vegetarian set menu or rice still. So when the soup (that tasted like luke warm water with veg chucked in) arrived I asked about the vegetarian dishes, he rushed off and brought back the dumplings which by this point I was starving so I tucked in hoping the set menu would be also due to arrive. Nearly one hour My husband and daughter had finished the one bowl of rice they had to share and eaten enough of the meat dishes, they had full tummies but unfortunately my food had still not turned up. I called the waiter over and asked them to cancel all the vegetarian dishes and bring the bill explaining there was no point eating alone and I was going to grab something from another shop on the way back to our hotel. After some debate they cancelled the vegetarian dishes, but when the bill cane we had been charged for some of the vegetarian dishes. It took 3 times of the bill going backwards and forwards to end up still not being correct. At this point I went over to the waiter station and pointed exactly at what we had. Finally bill came back correct, so it ended up being £51 for a meal that only fed part of the family, and a waste of over two hours. My meal deal from M&S on the way home was cheaper and much better! We definitely won’t be going back again. Very disappointed

We visited the restaurant on Wednesday evening and it was quiet busy, as there was 5 of us we had to wait 5 min for the table. When we went downstairs to take our place we were amazed by the authentic Chinese details. Maybe the menu is a bit too long but thanks to that everyone will find something that he'll like. We tried 6 main courses and 3 starters and I have to say that it was a real feast for the palate! The service may have been little faster but you have to remember that it's a busy place and that haven't been an issue for us. Reasonable prices, great food, authentic atmosphere if you appreciate those factors you have to visit this place while in London!

The menu is chaotic to say the best, but the real issue was that we saw a paper showing that they make manju or chinese ravioli that's why we chose this restaurant. It was really hard to make them understand what we wanted and when we did, the answer was that this dish it's only takeaway and they could exceptionally make it but only if we ordered four. If we left some we could take them with us at the end. We ordered other food too and ate 2 chinese ravioli (those are really big). Eventually we had to ask for a takeaway and we got it, but the ravioli were thrown in a plastic bag like rubbish without even some tissues. And what's even better is that a couple, sitting just behind us, got just two chinese ravioli! The waitress was very unfriendly and the bill was overpriced.

Sono stata con la mia amica in questo ristorante quando abbiamo visitato chinatown. Il personale è stato sgarbato. Avevamo chiesto i ravioli cinesi e ci hanno risposto: "se ordinate 4 ravioli e un altro piatto allora Ok altrimenti niente.. I ravioli li facciamo solo take away" abbiamo risposto di si.. Dopo che ci hanno insistentemente detto di portare gli altri due involtini rimasti a casa se non riuscivamo a mangiarli.. Ce li hanno messi in una busta senza protezione e in modo anti igienico. Ma la cosa più brutta è stata vedere arrivare 2 Soli ravioli ad una coppia al tavolo a fianco..

Entré en este lugar con vistas a tener un buen almuerzo chino auténtico y no me decepcionó. Fui por el cerdo cocido en una sopa extremadamente picante que venía en un tazón enorme y estaba nadando en aceite de chile delicioso y adormecedor y en la bondad de Sichuan. Me sorprendió la enormidad del plato que, como grata sorpresa, vino con brotes de soja y col en las profundidades. Un almuerzo delicioso y muy abundante. Tengo ganas de volver.

Como 4 amigos, habíamos planeado visitar Chinatown para disfrutar de la comida tradicional china. Hay muchos restaurantes para elegir, todos más o menos, que anuncian un menú similar. No es la primera vez que visito Chinatown, así que llegó el momento de visitar otro restaurante. Elegimos el restaurante New China. No nos decepcionó. Lo resolvieron tan pronto como entramos en un sábado ocupado y nos sentamos a 5 minutos en la planta baja. Seleccionamos el Menú F para 4 a 19 / cabeza.

Pensamos que esto sería bueno, ya que estaba ocupado, qué equivocados estamos con eso.

Good was ok. Service was good but it wasn't busy. Bill was more than what the prices were on the menu. Wouldn't go back.

Le canard laqué et la crêpe de riz, un vrai régal ! La peau est bien croustillante, et les saveurs bien définis. Le personnel est tout bonnement génial ! La serveuse nous a demandé si on avait faim ou non, et nous a pas vendu son assiette pour nous faire dépenser plus. Elle nous a fait dépenser juste, selon notre faim (elle nous a conseillé un demi canard au lieu d'un entier à 2, car on avait pas spécialement faim). Très professionnel, allez chercher le meilleur des conseils là-bas, revenez ravi de vos assiettes pour une modique somme.

Rude service. We got the table nearest to the door so it was cold too. There was a bit of paper in the supposedly straight from the freezer springrolls - free of charge though. Bulk food, never again.

My wife and I opted for the £18 pp set dinner. We had a waitress hovering around us, waiting to clear each plate away and even had our bowl of rice removed before it was eaten. The menu price for the food and drink was £52 but the bill presented was £60.30, quite an amount for "Service"?

Chinatown has an abundance of places to eat so picking is hard. However local business person recommended here. Went for late afternoon meal. Being a larger place I didn't expect to get much more than the more usual Chinese fayre rather than someone more unusual to try and that was the case. However, the food was good enough, very large portions and the staff were friendly and helpful. No complaints.

Food was nice but no more than that. We had a set menu (menu C) and the other couple in our party had a larger menu. The larger menu seemed better value for money.the atmosphere was pleasant and the clientele a nice mix.

The food here is great. We ordered different dishes and shared and found both a beef and black bean and a chicken dish (I forget which) were lovely - you get loads too.

We visited this restaurant several years ago and although the staff were a bit quirky the food was very good. This time, however, everything was just average. Maybe our tastes have changed but the food was not how we remembered it.

Called here as a group of six after a show. The staff were pleasant but it ended there as any positives. The place is not that clean - we were sat downstairs- the food looked ok but was just very average. Will have to be more organised next time

What an amazing experience. We found ourselves out in London after show looking for food. Chinatown calling!

I invited a friend for a Chinese meal as we both love Chinese food. I picked this restaurant. I ordered a beef dish with rice sticks and a pork dish with peppers. The waitress had difficulty in understanding English, I had to point to the dish numbers on the menu. Service was quick. The so called beef and rice sticks dish contained a lump of what appeared to be overdone flat noodles. The beef and the pork tasted exactly the same - no taste. Both dishes were flooded with soya sauce. My friend also did not find his dishes tasty. When we left, i had to apologize to my friend. Never again will I visit this restaurant.

Visited early evening with my daughters. Food was good but from the start we felt rushed. The waitress twice asked if we were ready to order, plates cleared as we put down the fork, glasses topped.

Food is fine, typically western style Chinese food but in general, it’s fine.

Six of us had an early dinner in this welcoming restaurant. Most of us had the £19 set meal which was plenty and one chose courses a la carte from the extensive menu.

We visited late the other night after a show. Despite it being close to closing time they found us a table. The service was friendly and efficient and the food was tasty and a good portion size.

The long story, short! Me and my friend went for lunch at the restaurant . Ordered the food that we chose . We did not have to wait a lot( I would say normal timing ). The food itself was nothing special( don’t get me wrong, not bad ) but nothing wow . If I have to compare our local take away and New China restaurant , our takeaway wins by far with flavour and price! However I am not reviewing the food but the arrogant waiter who , after I asked for the bill and told him to put tip( I was paying by card) sarcastically mentioned that the tip was not enough for the service provided! Well I have seen waiters in my life but he was far from Copperfield (the magician) , and the most important after seeing me getting upset with his comment he did not apologise ! My intention was to leave tip on the card and give some cash as well ( had only a £5 note cash) but he ruined it ! Also he made me really angry because he works on wage and never and nowhere was mentioned that the tip in this restaurant is an obligation! I thought that it’s individual decision whether or not to tip!

The food was alright, the service was a little slow. Would not rush back anytime soon. Could of been a bad night though as friends suggested this restaurant.

Really wanted to attend china Town for food whilst in London! This place looked lovely and appealing however it was absolutely awful. The service took a very long time, had to repeatedly ask for drinks as they kept forgetting. It was freezing as the door was open. When the food came after what looked like a good choice of menu. My chips were ice cold so I sent them back, my partners food all come this was also absolutely freezing. Mine still hadn’t arrived 10

Really enjoyed our meal here. Firstly the menu is huge, as are the portions. The food came out as it was cooked and ready which was fine with us because it was fresh and hot. Really enjoyed the tree fungus salad (trust me on this one). Service was quick and efficient and their knowledge of gluten free options was really good with lots of options available.

The service was quick and not much friendlier than is usual for the area. Duck pancakes and spring rolls were fine. The mains were unbelievably gloopy in a thick gelatinous sauce that had an unpleasant flavour and aroma. I rarely leave food but in this case I barely ate anything and left feeling hungry.

Really nice food. The basement is a bit dim with no windows, but it did not take away anything from the food. We had a set menu for two. £61 inc 4 bottles of chinese beer. Very tasty indeed.

El tamaño del restaurante es engañoso, ya que parece que solo tiene unas pocas mesas al nivel de la calle, pero nos llevaron a una bodega / sótano con un poco de carácter. Cabe destacar que éramos los únicos comensales occidentales, probablemente una buena señal. Wir hatten „eigentlich“ nur ein wenig Hunger und wollten eine Kleinigkeit essen. Chinesisch sollte es werden. Wir entschieden uns doch für ein Menü für 2 Personen. Alleine die Vorspeisen waren schon sehr reichhaltig und lecker. Menü E ist nur zu empfehlen. Gutes Preis Leistungsverhältnis. Viele Chinesen gehen dort essen

Food was bland and overpriced for what we got. Wouldn’t recommend going there. Too many other options.

We have visited here before, albeit a few years ago. However, we would not return after this evening.

Just was a walk in tonight. Got the set menu which was 3 courses with duck panackes and prawns on a main for under £20! Food was lovely and staff were attentive. Not a shiny chain but charming none the less.

I can safely say that this was the very worst experience I have ever had in a Chinese restaurant. The service was close to hostile and at least dismissive and the food a little short of disgusting - poorly cooked, greasy and tasteless. If you like Chinese food, and I do very much, I suggest avoid at all costs.

We had heard this was a great place to eat and the prices are reasonable. We all tried something different and shared. One was not better than the other, all four dishes had fresh ingredients and we're magazine perfect. Very much enjoyed our experience.

Thinking of taking a holiday in China next year so we thought it appropriate to try the food which, frankly, had never really appealed to me in the past Wandered around Chinatown and settled on this restaurant ... not cramped inside, clean tables with crisp covers and well lit. Chose a set menu to share and found the food enjoyable,, and it never seemed to stop coming. Altogether a satisfactory experience and one we intend to try again.

I went with Chinese friends and they were pleased with the authenticity of the cuisine style. Specialities for South West of China, like Hot Pot.

The seafood soup, the wonton soup, and the hot and sour soups were great. While the Kung pao chicken was tasty, it had too much oil. I needed help getting a taxi and the manager and waiters were very kind and helpful.

Went there for our all time favourite- aromatic crispy duck. Reception was ‚ok‘, a but cold like tolerated not welcome. Waiters (many of them there) followed their own priorities- difficult to get them to the table. Unfortunately the duck was a bit dry- so not the best experience- on the positive side restaurant was very clean, nice ambience and a bit upper league. Not sure though whether they see us back.

Five of us enjoyed a variety of delicious dishes.And the food was amazing. Everything was fresh and tasty. Good service. I would most definitely return.

A good menu of Chinese food and friendly service. We chose this restaurant as it had 4 food hygiene rating the highest in that part of China Town. About a third of the customers were Chinese speakers which I thought was a recommendation.

This is a very classy looking restaurant with good food. It has a good range of dishes and pleased me, who is fairly foodie but also my less adventurous friends. The service was particularly good, attentive in a relaxed way, always there when needed but never upselling.

Stopped for dinner after long day (12 miles walking) of site seeing. There were 5 of us... they chose to seat us downstairs at a larger table, rather than upstairs with some view, other people, and much less humidity. These lower level tables seem to share space with a kitchen area, and also a place for workers to kick back.

Good food, good pricing. Usual “efficient” Chinese service - but all good.

Fuimos a este restaurante para una comida antes del teatro. Pedimos un número de platos pero no todas llegan al mismo tiempo, la camarera trajo un plato de arroz cuando habíamos terminado nuestra comida! La comida estaba bien, pero bastante menos experimentados. Las camareras eran hoscos y bastante desagradable. No había chat chit o cualquier robot. Tenga cuidado, está incluido un cargo por servicio en la cuenta.

My daughter and I shared the crispy duck wraps. They were excellent, and there was plenty for the two of us. Others had soups and meat and vegetables. All very good. The food came quickly, and was fresh and piping hot.

During a busy tourist day we found this recommended restaurant to provide a shelter from the hustle and bustle and recharge our batteries for the afternoon's sightseeing. Sitting here was comfy with a relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff bringing me my well deserved cold Tsing...

Have visited this restaurant many times over the years, but probably not any more. Staff used to be friendly and help serve food. This time they appeared completely disinterested. Food was okay but some dishes were luke warm and bland.Men’s toilets which are located up...

Went there twice for unlimited hotpot buffet and the staff was helpful and attentive. The hot broth was not that hot, but it was good and doesnt burn your tongue. And i love the fact that you can make your own dipping sauce, multiple times...

Had hot pot buffet. Food was fresh. Definitely worth the $ if one can eat a lot. Don't expect for any customer service which I realized this is a very common issue in London China Town.

Went in here as it didn't seem too busy with my husband and daughter. We ordered the set menu which was nice but as the table was pretty small we felt rushed as they were trying to clear our food away before we had finished eating. The duck was especially delicious.

中華街の割と端の角地にあるお店です。以前にも来たことがあるのですが、魚香茄子とごはん、普洱茶、サービス料込で、16.1GBPでした。一品の量は、一人で定食代わりに食べるには、少しだけ量が多いです。とくに魚香茄子はこってりしているので。回鍋肉くらいだと、それよりあっさり目で大丈夫かもしれません。

Buiten stond aangekondigd hotpot vanaf 19,50 pond per persoon. Binnen kregen we een bestelblad met de prijs van 23,50 pond op en op de rekening stond 7 pond extra voor de bediening. Uiteindelijk toch een duur etentje. Maar het was zeer lekker. Wij hebben de gemixte hotpot genomen met de ene helft ‘normale’ bouillon en de andere volledig gevuld met rode pepertjes. Dus zeeeeeer pikant. Maar lekker. Zeker een aanrader. Niet vergeten de keldersectie van het restaurant te bezoeken waar je de sausjes kan vinden. Een vriendelijke chinese klant heeft ons dit gezegd. Blijkbaar vergeten te vermelden door de dienster.

The service here was just wonderful, a great range of dishes and an enjoyable atmosphere to match. Somewhere in London we could enjoy a change of scenery and taste of food.

Como nuestros amigos había utilizado este restaurante antes y tenía buenas comidas oír que todos decidimos que sería un buen lugar para ir a almorzar y tomar un buen. We have been here several times,so it was ,we thought , a good place to meet up with old friends. We weren’t disappointed. The staff were efficient although,not very chatty,and nothing was too much trouble. We had chicken and sweet corn soup to start, followed by set menu E and the dishes just kept coming hot and freshly cooked. We were all hungry,but even we couldn’t finish it all. My only complaint is the ground floor area could have been a little larger, but then that would have been packed too!!!

We just picked this restaurant and was not disappointed. We ordered vegetarian meal and they were delicious! Aubergine, vegetable and bean curd. Staff was friendly and helpful. Food came fast too! Lovely find and will come back again.

Abbiamo provato nel tempo diversi ristoranti a Gerrard St e volevamo cambiare. Questo ci è piaciuto e ci siamo stati per due serate a cena. Locale non grande, ma con due sale una su strada e l’altra al primo piano. Pulito, servizio veloce e cortese. Sei facilitato nelle scelte da un bel menù con foto, che ti aiuta molto. Abbiamo complessivamente mangiato bene (ottima la crispy duck) e pagato relativamente poco per Londra.

The food was ok, not the best Chinese I’ve had but certainly not the worst. We thought it was a little over priced for what you get.

Carte incompréhensible. Je souhaite prendre un menu et là je m'aperçois qu'il faut etre 2 minimum pour prendre ce menu et que chacun devra payer 14£ pour un seul menu, soit 28£ pour un seul et même menu... Pourquoi obliger les gens à prendre un menu pour 2 personnes minimum ??? Et si je souhaite le manger tout seul??Du coup si on souhaite prendre 2 menus, nous sommes obligés de débourser 56£!! Arnaque aux clients??? En plus de ça l'accueil est déplorable... Je vous déconseille très fortement ce pseudo restaurant. Il y a bien mieux à quelques pas de là.

Went on a Friday night and the upstairs was nearly empty. We had the crispy beef, chicken noodles, dumplings and some beer. It was all really fresh and came out quickly. Would really recommend.

The food was okay, nothing bad, but nothing extraordinary, the service was not hospitable but more or less what you expect from Chinese restaurants.

O atendimento é péssimo, o garçom foi prepotente e arrogante o tempo todo (ele tem uma tatuagem no pescoço).

Visited her Saturday 25th on a random visit. We were looking around China town to find the perfect spot for some Chinese fresh food. The exterior looked promising so we decided on New China. Which was a mistake, we were seated on a table right by the front door. The man who greeted us was quite cold (like the atmosphere) and rather rude. He rushed us to our seats and waited 10 minutes to return to take our order. I asked for a bottle of House white (Pinot Grigio) and a separate glass of lemonade for my friend so she could have spritzers. The wine came (room temp) with no wine cooler? I had to ask the waiter for the lemonade again which he snapped back saying “1 minute” I would understand if the restaurant was busy but it wasn’t considering it’s Chinatown London! From then on it was a very weird experience! No drink trays just servers carrying them by hand and no table checks to see how everything was. Which I didn’t understand as it killed the atmosphere from get go.The food was average and seemed to have been prepped in the morning and reheated when ordered.Overall the servers need to learn some manners and whoever the actual manager is needs to sort the place out! Won’t be returning.

We did not have good service neither good foods. This place has non of them and it is over priced for what you get. I won't come back again.

Called in new China for dinner the food was lovely lemon chicken egg fried rice and duck and pancakes .service was bad very slow took ages before our order was taken

Love the food so tasty. We came here in the afternoon time and the restaurant was really busy have to wait for the table. But it is worth the wait. Delicious food and enjoyed our meals. Definitely come back.

The place seemed to be busy whenever I passed by and wondered about it.When looking for a place with a friend who happened to be in London, we found there were some tables available so we decided to check our luck.The restaurant had done set menus and we chose one for 20 pounds per head.It was quite a volume and even for two guys it was more than plenty. We wished it would include soup at least but satisfied with price and volume.

We were out and about in London and our route took us through China Town on a sunny Sunday. Having studied most of the menus and found them all rather similar we were running out of China Town and found ourselves outside the New China. It didn't look any different from the rest really so in we went with my assumption that China town would be expensive and of poor quality like most of the tourist traps in London. We were eventually seated by someone, who at least on the face of it resented us crossing the threshold. A drinks order followed which was about as personal as an automated banking call and eventually our food order was taken, again with no risk of the makeup becoming dislodged due to overdoing the smiles.We waited for our food, safe in the knowledge that it wouldn't hit the spot. I had chosen Vermicelli Singapore style as its my barometer as to the quality for a Chinese restaurant or takeaway together with chicken in black bean sauce. The food arrived slightly apart, the chicken served on a sizzle plate and the vermicelli in a large tower. Thats when the service stopped mattering. The food was tremendous, tasty and plentiful. One of the best Vermicelli's Ive ever eaten and that is some accolade I can tell you. All this washed down with a cold bottle of Tsingtao.If you're hungry in China town and don't wish to make polite conversation then this is the place to go.

We were a party of 8 people and with the special menus we were able to eat a large variety of food and the bill when divided up was very good. But could eat 2 whole crispy duck as was so good just for myself. Also the chilli beef and tiger prawn were great.

I have read all the reviews regarding the service being haphazard which I would agree with but quality of food second to none it was amazing. Really amazing. Spicey lamb like I've never tasted. Crispy duck exactly on pointe ! And best Singapore noodles in Chinatown. We are going back with our 6 year old for her birthday meal Sunday. Thankyou for a fab meal.

Came here before going to a show. It was busy and we saw this as a good sign but sadly this was a mistake. The chicken was pretty much inedible and was really chewy. We left most of the food and when our plates were cleared... which were still pretty much full... we didn’t even get asked if everything was okay... I guess because they knew the answer.
