Excellent restaurant. I went because it was in the Michelin guide. Extremely clean and organized. Attentive staff who ask about dietary restrictions. Innovative and delicious menu. Light and fluffy bao buns. Lived up to my expectations. I liked it so much that ended up buying the T-shirt they sell because the recipe book (which was what I really wanted as a souvenir for my trip) was too heavy to carry in my suitcase.

I recently had dinner at this restaurant, and I left thoroughly impressed. The service was both efficient and friendly, with a team that was attentive and welcoming. The £15 menu is excellent value for money. It includes a bao of your choice, which was absolutely delicious, followed by crispy chicken that was perfectly crunchy and flavorful. The meal was rounded off with a bowl of rice and guinea fowl, which was well-prepared and packed with taste. Every dish was well-balanced and satisfying. For dessert, I couldn’t resist the Fried Chocolate Ice Cream. It was a true indulgence, with the perfect balance of crisp and creamy textures. I highly recommend this restaurant for a simple, tasty, and affordable meal!

Its a very very tiny place and we dont have enough place to even sit properly. Having said that the food was delicious 😋. Everything we had was just amazing and would definitely go back there. The price was also so reasonable. We went there on a weekday night for dinner and the place was packed. Tells a lot about the food.

A charming restaurant for lunch or dinner in town. The dishes are served quickly and are delicious. A wide choice and full of delicious flavors. There is limited space inside, so for busy days, plan to come early.

We were hoping to try their exclusive Year of the Snake menu, only to realize this location didn’t have it 😢. But hey, no complaints—we made up for it by going all in! We started with their Classic BAO, fried chicken, and melt-in-your-mouth beef short rib—each one as good as ever. Then, we couldn’t resist some specials, including the honey-glazed pork bao (sweet, sticky perfection) and the Snake Bao with pistachio cream to finish on a sweet note. Even without the special menu, it was a proper feast—Bao never disappoints! 🥢🔥

By far the best and most authentic baos I have ever eaten. The buns are fluffy and soft with extremely well-coordinated fillings. The Taiwanese fried chicken is fresh, crispy and hot. As well as very tender meat in soy sauce. As well as very refreshing Asian lemonades. The staff are very friendly, courteous and helpful. The restaurant feels like a getaway in Southeast Asia and deserves its Bib Gourmand award. An absolute must visit.

Firstly, I had the crispy chicken bao.The buns were the perfect spongy consistency, and although it was a lot spicier than expected, the crispy, tender chicken inside was amazing!! The waiters were sweet and gave lovely recommendations for the food and how to enjoy it. My daughter also had the chicken bao, and absolutely loved it. The atmosphere is cozy and friendly, so it’s wonderful for younger people as well. I hope this review helped some people and encouraged them to come here for a meal!

I ordered takeaway to be collected at 12.15pm and was sent a tracking code. But the tracking said it was not ready. I tried to call the shop but there is no number that could be found either. As I am working in the area and only has a short lunch break I could not just pop out as and when I could. This is why I ordered the pick up service so as to save time. I waited until about 12.38 to no avail before I finally decided to go to the shop to ask about my order. I pointed out the problem to the staff and showed him the tracking which still says not ready. The staff at the shop was extremely unkind and tried to blame me instead saying that the shop is open I should have just come and ask, refusing to apologise for such a plain mistake. I hope he understands that some people has to work and can't just pop in to ask. I am aghast at the staff's rudeness and not even having basic empathy and decency to apologise for what is clearly the shop's mistake.

An unbelievable experience! The food was incredible!! We particularly loved the sweet potatoes which we would not have tried if it weren’t for the fantastic recommendations by our waiter. If you’re in the area, I would absolutely recommend!

Tasty bao buns. We had 1 hour to get something to eat quickly and the waitress made sure this wasn't a problem. Even though it had to be done quickly, neither my partner nor I felt like we had to rush.

The boa buns were really nice! Had the pleasure of trying 4 different flavours and they were tasty. Lemon and honey ice tea was very refreshing. Would definitely recommend for a quick snack.

Spontaneous weekday early eve visit Bao was delish! We both got fried chicken and daikon and to my surprise was quite filling leaving us room for dessert/drinks. Both fillings were crispy and bao was soft and fluffy tho surprisingly we both preferred the daikon one! Very busy spot but queue was quite efficient - they take your phone number where you join a virtual queue

The experience was disappointing. One staff member spent 20 minutes feeding their acquaintance before their shift. Most staff were polite but seemed unhappy, except for one who was attentive and caring. Portions were small, and the food looked mass-produced. You're better off heading to Chinatown. Incredible food. Some of the tastiest bao I have ever tried. The food really is the thing that recommends this place, as the service is friendly but a bit lacking - we got all our food but the drinks never arrived, but were still on the bill (however they were removed when asked). The place itself is a very clever use of space, although the coat hooks directly over the tables are an odd choice, and when you're seated at a small table with a giant winter coat looming over it, it does take away from the atmosphere a bit...

As always the staff were incredible as was the food. Specially the duck Bao special 🦆

The service at Bao was excellent. The servers were attentive without being overbearing. The food was good. Some dishes (the Short Rib Bao & fried chicken Bao) were exceptionally, others were good but not mind blowing. All in all, a great meal!

This is a small restaurant and we were seating at the bar with my friend. We ordered few baos and starters. It is quite pricey but really good. It is more a restaurant where you enjoy good food and then leave as it is quite small and they make you feel that you need to leave quite quickly. The decoration has nothing exceptional but the food is good. If you have a big stomach it might become quite pricey though!

My first time at Bao, I wanted to love it but it's all bit of a rip off. I understand high prices for good quality and good atmosphere but this is not it. The food is good in the sense it's not bad. Ultimately it'a bao buns, which it's good regardless but it's a difficult food to make EXCEPTIONAL because it is a cheap snack food, on the go, and it's main ingredients are made in bulk. The ingredients and fillings are good here (though I found a bone in my Classic Bao, which was a bit sloppy). This location only serves Bao and small plates, and it's cafe style, so you're paying on average $50-60 per person (with drinks & service) to eat in a cramped noisy room (and we were facing a wall). One suggestion!! Please put content sizes (ml) on your drinks. At the very least your non-alcoholic drinks!! I ordered the cold brew roasted oolong tea (£4.50) and what arrived was a 200ml glass, half full with ice, and about 100ml of liquid. I was expecting oh I don't know, a decent sized glass? It's iced tea!! I asked the staff to please top me up and make sure the exposed half of the ice is covered with liquid. They topped it up with water. I sent it back saying it was diluted. And then we were treated to a lecture by the staff member saying that is their standard amount, and etc they could not change it because it's the standard amount. I said back, hey if you had put the size of the drink on the menu and I knew I was only getting 100ml of ice tea I definitely would not have ordered this drink. The staff took the drink back and made one with less ice and it was fine in the end, but that's just what should have been done in the first place!! We didn't need a lecture, just fix the problem. That's what service is. So on my last Classic Bao there was a bone in the bao and that just made me feel a bit disappointed about the whole experience. Go here if you've been and you love it and you think it's the best bao, fine. But avoid if you want a satisfying experience because this whole experience was unsatisfying in a way I was just not expecting.

Even with a peanut and raw egg allergy it’s absolutely stunning. The food, the staff, the atmosphere, the price. I would definitely go again, and again and again.
