Had the 2 med haddock’s with chips deal - fish was ok but the chips were very disappointing. Banks has a reputation … will not return.

The place was very clean and there were no smells of old oil. We both enjoyed our fish and chips very much.

I go there often for lunch both eat in and take away, food is always good and the staff are always professional, friendly and polite. The food is reasonably priced and discounted deals on certain days, everything is always spotlessly clean 👍

Completely missed the chips as a portion and substitute burger for beef when we ordered chicken. You should check with customers this is ok and don’t just assume we would want meat option.

I have cod and chips around once a week the fish and chips are perfectly cooked. But last night I had 2 medium haddock and large chips deal , never again, they looked and tasted like they were 2 days old , my wife couldn't any of hers I eat half of mine the rest in the bin

Food was stone cold, 8:40 on a Saturday evening, small cod … cold and tasteless, pie was dry and cold, chips were cold, very disappointing. Won’t be going back

They forgot to put a portion of chips with the order, drove back to bankers and asked them for the extra portion of chips. Then they said that we never ordered the small chips with the chicken nuggets even though we heard them repeat the order before we left. Seems like the staff that work there are just un-phased and unbothered. They made me pay for the chips even though it was not our fault. Definitely go to a small run fish and chip shop (plenty of good ones in Brighton) as opposed to bankers as it has gone downhill and the few times I have ordered from the hangleton branch, the food was mediocre at best.

The first thing you notice is the courteous staff. You get the best service.Fish and chips are top notch fresh and delicious. You get good deals and offers during the afternoon time. Their menu is not limited to fish. You have shrimps and squid too.

The food was acc ok it was the fact they didn’t send my complete order then trade saying I only ordered what I got so I went down there for them to get argumentative with me refused to pay me my money back so I ended up losing 44.92 it’s an absolutel joke

Fish was cooked well. Chips were overdone, few burnt ones.

Food a bit cold due to the delivery driver not understanding instructions and before getting to the main front door to the flats decided instead of going to large front door and pressing entry bell he decided to wander around outside of building to look for my flat and had to phone me as to what to do !! When he eventually gained entry he completely ignored my instructions and wandered around inside of building !! I’ll say no more !!!

It was piping hot and fish tasted so fresh it was delicious thank you 🤩

Usually we can't fault this place but tonight was a joke , to many staff that didn't have a clue , getting so many orders wrong , manners would help to . To many deliveroo drivers in and out jumping the queue. Husbands fish wasn't up to usual standard and was a horrible grey colour and not hot at all. Wasn't great tonight which is a shame

Food is always good. However, every single time I go there I have something missing from my order. It has happened so many times now I am starting to wonder if it is deliberate. It’s a shame as the food is good if you actually get what you pay for.

I absolutely love the salted and pepper squid so nice, even more tasty with vinegar and chips. Can't go wrong with this establishment

Sadly disappointing. Chips were placed directly over the battered fish. This then made the fish drenched in oily batter.

Perfect. The fish was white and the batter was crisp - so delicious. The chips were also crisp. I eat out of the box which means that the food is always hot and there is nothing to wash up. It's my weekly treat.

Absolutely awful meal, ask for salt and vinegar, not added, pie cheap and cheerful, chips were full of the bits you get from the bottom of the tray and the staff member not even a please or thank you, never again !!!

The order was double placed because my first online attempt was not accepted using my debit card .I then used Google pay to pay. Subsequently the first order was acknowledged. I accepted the app advice to phone the restaraunt to cancel the double order before the preparation of the second meal .They still sent me 2 identical meals half an hour apart . So that is my first and last use of just eat. £67.for 2 fish and chips I've learnt my lesson.

Fish cake had no taste at all, scampi and plaice average, paid for large chips but portion was small.

if the drivers actually read the delivery instructions on the order they woujld know where to come, but of course they dont!!

Reminder to self- do not go again !! Large Chips £4.45 🫨 I got max of 40 chips. Pale miserable looking things. Staff are always slow and pretty miserable too. Bankers are such a rip off shame there is no local chippy.

Food was over cooked and not as nice as it usually is.

Ordered and paid online,order no. QPHD hubby went to Hangleton branch to collect . Was told “ no cod, you will have to have haddock” ummm dont think so!. No refund as yet, tried to call 3 times, no answer. Disgusting service, no apology, no email . Do i really have to keep calling for a refund?? Hubby off to Plaice in the Square , our normal take out! Their loss or maybe my £22.50 loss?

I've had the chips several times and the fishless filets. Both great. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I've seen some people being rather short and even a bit rude to the staff, which is a shame as my experience has been very positive. 👍

Worse fish and chip experience ever. Bought fish and chips from the Hangleton branch on a busy Friday night. Firstly absolute chaos in the shop - I went in to place my order and wasn't even acknowledged - stood there like an idiot for over 5 minutes. I saw they had introduced a click and collect service using an app. I went back to the car downloaded the app and ordered that way. Went back in at the collection time. Again chaos and no way to know where I was meant to stand or check in. After several minutes I approached the counter and the server asked for my code then just wondered off without telling me what they were doing. So again I'm left waiting and not knowing what to do. After another 5 minutes I approached the click and collect counter again no one made eye contact or spoke. So I asked where my order was - turned out half of it was sat already boxed up and the other half was still cooking 😡. When they finally finished the other half and were packing it and I realised that half of it had been sat on the counter for at least 10 mins- I said "Hang on that has been sat there for ages" - the server said it was only a minute of two..I'd lost the will to live by this point and just wanted to go home. Which I did to enjoy my cold fish and chips! Blimey when did Bankers go down hill so much? I know it's busy its Friday night- Fish and chip shops have bren busy on a friday night forever!! I think they have over stretched having three branches and the management of the Hamgleton one just isn't working. Anyway I won't be bothering again. It's way cheaper and a lot less hassle to buy battered fish from Sainsbury and heat it in the oven with some McCains fries - just as tasty and a quarter of the cost.

BEWARE!!! Food didn’t arrive even though the Just Eat app said it was delivered. Rang the restaurant who said they never received the order in the first place. Contacted Just Eat for refund but they haven’t got back to me. I’m now over £16:00 down and very hungry. Utterly appalling!

Hi just got some chicken and chip but sorry to say that the chips were very over cooked and chicken not very good very very dry I have had this from you and the food was good but this time the order was all over cooked so sorry to say very disappointed this time......Allan

Lovely hot food very good quality very good value for money

The delivery person was LOVELY but she was on a normal bicycle - the journey involved several steep hills and although our food arrived in warm and perfect condition I am concerned that you thought this an appropriate journey for someone on a bike to make! She was utterly exhausted as anyone would be having completed such a journey.

Just looking for some lunch when I noticed Bankers. Checking the menu I saw that they had a special Senior Citizen's Fish and Chips lunch with a drink for £5.95. I ordered the meal having shown my Senior Rail Card to prove my age. The restaurant had a good, friendly atmosphere and I enjoyed people watching as I waited. Not for long either. When my meal arrived I was amazed by the size and quality of the portions. Tartar cause at the table, what more could I ask? I really enjoyed the meal and would highly recommend the very varied menu.

3 haddock and chips and 1 cod and chips for less than 30 quid. Great food and decent price. Onion vinegar as well. Hearty english grub
