Banana Tree Bath in Bath and North East Somerset

Booked a table for 10 people on a Saturday night and we were seated quickly but we had to wait ages for someone to come and take our drinks order. Food was average. Cocktails were 241 but they were mainly ice. Disappointing visit.

I visited with few friends on Sunday evening. The decor is very nice but there is no atmosphere in this place. Menu has loads of different options but food is bad. I had a duck and it was very dry, we had 8 different dishes and literally none of them were tasty. Our waitress (Violeta) was the rudest waitperson I have ever met in my life (and I'm forty!): no smile, no please, no thank you. I cannot believe someone that impolite works in customer service! There is loads of Asian restaurants in Bath so avoid Banana Tree at all costs and spend your money elsewhere (in Thaikhun for example).

There were very few staff who were inattentive they didn't smile or ask us if the food was to our liking . The resturant although recently refurbished and looked really cool ,had no atmostphere. The menu looked exciting and what we ordered was delicious. However the place lacked vibrancy and the staff need motivating and training in customer service .For that reason I would not recommend this resturant to friends .

Visited this place recently and was pretty shocked to see how bad the service has become, it's changed so much since opening. It's never been great as far as attentive staff is concerned but always enjoyed the food, I'm local to Bath and work closely to Banana Tree. After being seated this time, we were left at our table for over 30 minutes without any service, staff didn't come near us at all to ask if we wanted drinks or order food. We left to go to another restaurant and won't return. Disgraceful lack of service.

We came here a few weeks ago, only just got round to writing this, i would not recommend this place, the food was not good! 3 of our meals either had cold chicken or sauce missing making the food very bland. One meal www sent back to the kitchen to be recooked as the chicken was cold. After receiving this meal everyone had finished theirs and it seemed they had just put it into the microwave. made it clear i would not be paying for the meal that was cold as this was supposed to be a family dinner and instead the person with the cold food had to eat theirs on their own after receiving it around 15 mins later. We were the only table in there at this time and our 4 cocktails took 20 minutes to come. Aware we had money taken off the bill thankyou to the guy manager for this. however i just want to warn people thinking of going here! it is not worth it, you can get much better food elsewhere! The servers in their do need more training as arguing with a customer over a dish missing sauce and other items is not how it should have been! we will not be retuning here.

Visited a few months ago and just catching up on reviews now, was only the two of us and restaurant not very busy so were seated quickly and given lots of help with picking dishes and drinks. Good cocktail selection and a lot of vegan options available. Being one vegetarian and one vegan this was a nice surprise. A little on the expensive side but for what we got we will definitely be visiting again. Staff on shift were very attentive, couldn't have asked for more help.

Service was good but the white wine was luke warm and poor quality and the food far from inspiring. There was monotonous music playing which was barely audible except for a constant thumping beat which added nothing to the ambience. Overall a disappointing experience and poor value for money . There are better restaurants serving this type of pan Asian cuisine in Bath.

We were a little rushed with our tour. We did not truly get the full experience with the restaurant. But the service and the food and drinks were really good. Large portions and the staff were really friendly.

A great meal with fresh & flavourful food. They have a wide veggie / vegan selection. Pradeep, our waiter, was very attentive & friendly. Would 100% come again.

Great food, great service, great value. We've visited a few times.before and it's rapidly becoming a favourite. Conveniently located in the centre of the city, it's hard to beat for a quick, high quality, meal!

Great restaurant, lovely food, friendly & attentive staff, ( our server was violeta ) food was amazing, would highly recommend, definitely going back.

The food here is simply amazing! And Lavinia made our dining experience so much better. She recommended the best vegetarian dish and her smile was very contagious. Will be coming back!

Great food - particularly the starters and great friendly service too. We had a voucher so felt like great value but wouldn't necessarily go full price

I had an amazing time here yesterday. The food, drinks and service was brilliant. Pradeep was amazing, he made sure everything was just perfect and it was. Would 100% recommend to family and friends. We will come again

First visit to this restaurant and I am probably not going to be making a return visit sadly. The great things were friendly helpful staff, they were lovely. The location, building and ambiance are all spot on. Right on the lovely Milton Street and the building is fabulous although sadly they have covered the beautiful glass roof windows with blinds which is a shame. For me the food quality was poor. I had a Red Thai fish curry and it was only ok. The red sauce was water thin and there was very little of it which made the dish dry and harder to eat once the sauce was gone. The rice was cold and very clumped into a sticky ball which wasn’t easy to break down. It didn’t have a lot of flavour either, very disappointing. My son had a Thai green curry which he said was nice but again, very little sauce so rather dry. We both had the bright green coconut stuffed pancakes and vanilla ice cream after. These were the texture of a sponge you would use to clean the bathroom with (not that I’ve eaten one but you know what I mean) and it didn’t hold the coconut stuffing but completely fell apart on trying to get it on a spoon. Just difficult to eat. We were offered maple syrup which was a must as without that the dessert was a little uninspiring. I had a Prosecco which was listed on the menu as extra dry, it was quite sweet and not very cold. The staff were very attentive and lovely but that in itself wouldn’t be enough to get me to go again. Sorry 😔

I made an order via Deliveroo - order accepted by the restaurant at 18:11 then cancelled with no reason provided 1 hr and 20 mins later leaving us without food on a Saturday evening for.a.birthday celebration at home. No contact from the restaurant to explain, apologise or offer compensation. Unfortunately it turns out that it's not possible to leave a review on Deliveroo once a restaurant has cancelled an order. Very poor experience.

Went to Banana Tree last with my friend for her birthday celebration. We had a good time. Really helpful staff especially Ms. Lavinia. The food and mocktails were amazing!! Highly recommended.

Very obliging waiting staff indeed but the lunches were served cold on cold plates. Were taken away immediately with apologies but brought back saying the food had been placed back in the grill for a minute so it didn’t overcook. My husband’s grilled meat at that point was deemed just hot enough Unsurprisingly my rice and curry returned still cold since these are not grilled. Had to send back again. Returned with hot food but still on a cold plate. The issue is with the kitchen NOT the manager who dealt with it very well indeed. Once hot the food (Chiang Mai lunch) was tasty. Deserts were good.

Ambience not great for Thai restaurant. Loud club music not what I expected. Starters cold! The sticky wings were returned for being cold and not really having any meat on them, skinniest wings I'd every seen. Main dishes also barely warm and portion size not big. The beef was over cooked and dry not 4hr slow cooked! The jasmine rice was cold and stodgy/clumpy. Realised as I moved plate why the food not hot as served on melamine plastic plates! I'm not 3yrs old!! Asked for bill and 12.5% service charge added asked for that to be removed. Tipping should be discretionary especially as only 2 not large group. Will not recommend and won't be returning.

Went here for dinner after a work thing as we had been led to believe it had good vegan options. It does have several vegan options, but overall a very disappointing dining experience. The place completely lacked ambiance. The food was ok, nothing special. The menu is overpriced. Object to having a 12% service charge automatically added to the bill, would prefer to have a choice in what tip to leave based on the experience. Definitely will not be going back nor would recommend to anyone else.
