I highly doubt this restaurant is run by Chinese. Koreans are unlikely to ask diners to pay extra for each kimchi. It is a Korean tradition to serve diners an endless supply of kimchi. The taste of the food completely lacks the flavor of Korean food. It just feels like the technique used by Chinese chefs (adding a lot of MSG). Conclusion: What this restaurant serves is an insult to Korean food culture

This is the worst restaurant I have been to. Honestly don't support this robbery at all. We ordered some food, and one of which was the crispy fried prawns. The price was 12.90 and had a picture of 6 deep fried prawns in a batter. We went ahead to order it. However, upon the arrival of the dish, the prawns were really, I wish I was there exagerrating, small. In a thick layer of batter. We didn't mind it as much, however we were shocked to see carrots in the shape of prawns. There were 3 prawns and huge carrot pieces, the price was 12 90. Furious when I complained they said that none of the pictures were the same. Usually, when this is the case there is a footnate stating so. Intact while ordered, the waitress agreed this was what we were ordering. For that expensive of a restaurant, there were qr codes. Absolute waste of money. Upon confronting a senior waiting staff, they told me they ll take off the service charge, which was optional in the first place. Please avoid going there. The portion of plain rice for 5 pounds were barely 3 spoons much. Honestly, there are much better places in Manchester that are respectful.

2024 update BBQ duo set for two is now £33 per person Opted for a la carte. Our fire was abruptly switched off by a waiter while meat was still cooking because “there were too much smoke” as we weren’t constantly cooking our food. No explanation was given at the moment, it was explained later. Apparently there was something wrong with the ventilation and the solution is to cook everything at once and eat them cold or switch off the fire. Chicken shredded like stir fry I couldn’t recognize the sirloin filet. Garlic was just sprinkled on top but not marinated at all. Texture tasted like pork. Veggie side dishes also not marinated enough But at least I can recognize them. Sad to say I have to agree with the Korean users to say it has changed and not the Korean bbq place to go for anymore Explains why there are much less customers now… The Hong Kong waitress was kind. Hope she gets a better job soon Price and terms for bbq set were a bit confusing. Although they marked the price for one on the menu (24.5 / 28.5 pounds), The term “set” for the bbq set means “a bbq set for two people”, not “a set per person”, which means if you order one bbq set /tasting set, you will be served food portion for two, and be expected to pay a minimum of 49 or 57 pounds (plus tax and service charge). So if you want to order for two ppl, just order “one bbq set”. Or else the waitress will think you are ordering double and you will end up with heaps of food for four people and a whopping bill of 98 to 114 pounds. Good service, good food.

This Korean restaurant doesn't provide the usual side dishes that other Korean restaurants typically offer, such as kimchi. And most importantly, I ordered two very small bowls of rice, but when I checked the bill, they charged me £9! These were really just two tiny bowls of rice! I absolutely cannot accept this. I don't want rice-loving Asians, especially Chinese people, to be taken advantage of like this. This Korean restaurant will not provide you with the side dishes that other Korean restaurants have, such as Korean sauerkraut. And the most important thing is that I asked for two very small bowls of rice, but at the checkout they asked me for 9 pounds! These are really two very small bowls of rice! I completely, completely, completely unacceptable. I don’t want Asians, especially Chinese, who like to eat rice to be fooled.

Finally tried the Korean bbq here. So good! We ordered the platter the Mo Dum Gul enough for 4 people and then added an order of rib eye to bbq (could do without ordering this as the platter was more than enough), kimchi, soup and jap chae noodles. They give you an option to let the kitchen cook it for you or you can do it yourself with the grill on the table- we bbqed it ourselves which was more fun.

I was disappointed with our visit. First Korean restaurant I have visited. Extensive menu with lunch specials. The included miso soup was not nice and this was confirmed as other tables near ours left the soup. We ordered boneless ribs and sliced beef arrived. All the food was OK but nothing special. Felt rushed.

Unpleasant dining experience. The waitresses couldn't comprehend our order too well and served out the wrong dish to the wrong person on our table. I ordered a dish that came out very bland. I had asked for chillies that they forgot to put in, when I asked them to get me some , the waitress showed me the menu and the price for extra garlic/ chilli was £2.90! Not very impressed with everything here.

A really tasty meal with excellent service. Don’t let the weathered and unloved look put you off. From the outside, the entrance looked a little weatherworn and the displayed menu was colour washed. First off, this place is run by non-Koreans which is not an issue for me but maybe an issue for some. The decor inside is basic but it had what I came for which is the Korean BBQ. You see these in K-Dramas all the time. We had the Korean BBQ taster menu which about £36 per person with. Minimum of two people. The photos on the menu do not do it justice. The side dishes, seafood pancake and the rice came quickly and were well seasoned. The beef soup was very flavoursome and spicy. Then the server turned the burner and extraction on and brought out the main act. A meat platter with beef, pans pork marinated different ways. You then just cook them on your BBQ. If you are one of those people who complains about “Why should I cook the meal myself?” then there is an option of the kitchen cooking it for you. The meats were fantastic. Tender, well marinated and it was fun to do it yourself. A word of caution- they cook quite quickly so you will have to be on it. Our server changed our cooking plate twice automatically as they were getting clogged with meat juices. The service was quick and attentive. All in all a really fun and enjoyable meal.

I am confident enough to say that, i already tried many of korean restaurants, even in the country itself. So i am trying to be as fair and as honest i can be for this review. I ordered the pork belly with pepper and sesame sauce, but as you see in the picture, i don't see any sesame sauce on the meat. I also ordered pork belly with red pepper and red sauce, but i swear that i am really sure, they served me with chicken meat. I know how to differentiate pork belly and chicken. But when i ask the waiter, the waiter insisted that it is pork belly. The waiter that handle my order also, don't know much about their menus, it is such a shame, because as a costumer, who else should we ask anything about the menu? All i can say is... It is a "korean restaurant concept", but it is not a "authentic korean restaurant" like they claim. I hope the management can put more attention to what i mentioned above, so their quality in service can gey better in the future.

I loved everything about Ban di bul. I find it authentic and is very much like BBQ restaurants in Seoul. It was my children’s first time eating Korean BBQ, they tried everything and had so much fun cooking for themselves. From the lettuce wraps that ‘taste like garden peas’ to marbled beef and Ox tongue! It brought out such a fun side to eating out. The wait staff were very helpful. The meat was tasty - delicious, in fact. I think when in Seoul, BBQ came with more variety of sides but I will just order more next time. The seafood pancake had my family in a vice hold as sis the seaweed soup - all surprising hits. I would 100% recommend eating here and if you’ve never tried BBQ, don’t be scared!! The wait staff are super patient and will guide you.

I like Korean food but on this occasion I thought I’d try something different which I shouldn’t have. In typical fashion my Mrs picked something way nicer than mine and I enjoyed eating her dish instead. This spot is very centrally located and easy to get to by tram. The restaurant is not very spacious and can seem cramped at times. The meat quality is solid and the overall experience will give you a decent appreciation for Korean food. The side dishes were highlighted by their Korean style pancake which was delicious however their spicy stew and soups left much to be desired in flavor and spice level. The Kimchi was pretty standard, nothing incredible. Finally I think the portion sizes were probably fine for 2 people but the menu doesn't scale well for larger groups. Not sure that you have much choice in Manchester for Korean bbq so this place will do.

Pretends to be Korean food but even worst than all the chinese fast food such as chopstix etc. Talkin bout authentic but doesn't taste tiny bit as Korean at all. I don't know what kind of boss is it and possibly people from china running the restaurant. The chefs are definitely not Korean and don't know how to make Korean cuisine at all. Surely not value for money with such taste and the portions. The spicy spare ribs ordered barely have meat with very very thick soggy flour and taste exactly the same as sweet and sour chinese dish. Also found there is hair in it as picture shown. The Korean oxtail soup is also doesn't taste beef at all but white pepper only, very poorly made with very very tiny and less portion of meat as shown. The meat from the oxtail is very bland taste like they been used and cooked already for some of other dishes before being put into the soup. Bibimbap the Korean stone bowl rice with no sesame oil....words can't express all of it... Very unsatisfied and unhappy meal, now I lost interest of trying the bbq... Food, rice are barely warm. No Korean side dishes served. This is the last time and won't recommend it to anyone. Not Korean at all, more the less it's some chinese scam pretending Korean. There are quite a few real "Authentic" Korean food restaurants out there which are better.

I think it would be better not to go. I was passing by and saw a lot of people so I went in and the food wasn't bad. The problem starts here. I took an order from my friend's table who was with me, but he skipped it, so we reordered and waited for over 30 minutes more. Our table finished eating and paying, but there were 3 more menu items added that we didn't order, so they said we never ordered them. To confirm, they kept calling other employees and discussing whose fault it was. Even though we told them we had to catch the train in 15 minutes, they didn't let us go and we continued to discuss it, so they ended up paying us properly. yes… I missed the train, so I'm waiting for another 30 minutes^^... It's a Korean restaurant, but it's run by a Chinese person, so I can't say it's a perfect Korean restaurant, let alone the service. I highly recommend it if you want to get angry for the first time in a while!

The food was actually surprisingly delicious! Having only tried the Ban Di Bul in Liverpool I didn't know what to expect of the one in Manchester. However, ordering the kimchi pancake which I had never tried, and the spicy kimchi and pork soup with a serving of rice on the side, I might say it was divine! The kimchi pancake was indeed massive which I gladly shared with my friend, the batter wasn't too thick, it was flavourful as well as having enough kimchi in there too. Always like it when they're plentiful with serving portions. The spicy kimchi and pork soup was again indeed spicy however with the rice which mellowed it out, I'd say it's a great dish to have when it's a cold evening. Only wish I had taken pictures for everyone to see, I'd definitely recommend this place! The staff were lovely and not a bother at all, the atmosphere had good music and very relaxed however only thing I'd say that I noticed as a negative was the overhead fans weren't the most efficient at taking all the smoke away from the BBQ's happening next to us, so we left with a massive smell of smoke on us which did take quite a while to wear away. However, despite that the food was great and they definitely do Korean food justice, give it a try!

I seemed to wait forever until I could get a staff members attention to order a drink. I decided on my food, a chicken dish in sauce, sticky rice and seaweed. I expected the seaweed to be fried and in a bowl, but this was thin sheets of seaweed. It was OK though. The chicken was tasty and the sticky rice was fine. The portion sizes of what I ordered weren't all that big but I saw dishes on other tables that were larger. Would I return to Ban Di Bul? Hmm, probably not. We came here on a Friday for lunch, not knowing Manchester but fancying something different. It was my first time in a Korean restaurant (I’ve eaten a lot of Asian food though). I’ve got to say the meal was outstanding. We ordered the beef in sizzling bowl with rice, egg and vegetables with a side order of kimchi. My partner had the chicken in red pepper sauce. It was all incredible. Lots of Korean people eating here too which is a great sign in my opinion. Would love to come back!

Food tastes decent—but is massively overpriced. Portions for barbecue sets are meh. You’re going to pay for 2 persons, but you’re going to be given only 1 bowl of rice, 1 set of side dishes each. Smoke evacuation is weak. Charged 10% service charge, I was baffled when I saw the bill. It wasn’t even on the menu as fine print. Lastly, not entirely as authentic korean as they claim. TLDR If you’re looking for decent authentic Korean bbq for the price, look somewhere else. Avoid this place if you can.

Friendly service but the food is just so-so. Spicy tofu soup is bland despite its looks, fried chicken is uninspiring, seafood pancake was nice though.

Me and my vegan friend sat and enjoyed an amazing meal. I'm a vegetarian with a soya allergy, and the staff made sure everything was suitable for both of us. When the food arrived it was so good, we actually stopped talking for a moment, because we just really was loving everything about the meal. We especially enjoyed trying Wood Ear Mushrooms, and the staff translated what that was for us, so we knew. The atmosphere was really great, and it was a nice experience overall.

Please be advised that the menu is far more expensive than posted on their website. We were going to get the BBQ set meal, but they raised the price per person up 9£ when we got there, so we got BBQ items instead. Overall, great food and atmosphere. The attached images show their current menu as they really need to update their website to not deceive anymore customers.

I'm a vegetarian with a soya allergy, and my friend is vegan. The staff were helpful, and made the dishes suitable for us. They were very careful about allergies. The dishes were incredible. They tasted amazing. We discovered we loved Wood Ear Mushrooms, and the staff made sure to translate what they were for us, because we enjoyed them that much. The vibe of the place was lovely and friendly too.

The food didn't seem fully cooked, it was partly cold as if they had taken it from the freezer without cooking. Very poor representation of Korean food which is generally super tasty.

Used to come here because they had good food. Went today and the experience was horrible - ordered the beef Bibimbap (Stone Pot Rice)…they had the audacity to not put any beef on it (had to remind them that). Miso soup was not fresh and definitely store bought. Also asked for some water which never came. Virtually zero service and rude staff but had the audacity to charge for a 10% service charge. Will be my last time here

This is my partner’s favourite restaurant in Manchester, i disagree…. This place could be so much better if they worked on their customer service, they have a huge turnaround of serving staff which I put down to lack of training or maybe the working environment isn’t all that… every time we are served it’s new staff, usually in experienced with the menu… no fault picking but it affects the meal if service is non existent. Three dishes we always go for… pancheon which is a seafood pancake, ttebokki, spicy rice cakes with fish balls and then the bibimbap with beef, this is a bowl of rice with several types of vegetables and meat of your choice, and a sunny side up egg, you add spicy sauce if you want and mix it all up… it’s served in a hot clay bowl so be careful….!you can get BBQ and there’s plenty of different sets to choose from… you can cook yourself or the kitchen can cook it and it’s served to you… there’s no parking as it in St Peter’s square… for a long time they didn’t have alcohol for sale due to limited import of stock (Covid times) this place is mid to high end in terms of price but it’s worth it for the authentic tasting Korean food you crave, there’s a few Korean places in Manchester and this is probably the pick of the bunch but like my first statement, there’s a lot of good restaurants in Manchester so don’t put all your eggs in one basket… well done 👍 and thank you for offering employment to the youth of Manchester on a regular basis

It used to be one of my favorite restaurant. However, the quality falls significantly. Their food was not fresh at all. The service was really disappointing. Servers were very old ladies who barely understand any English. I tried to call them many times but they were busy talking among themselves in Chinese may be. The owners need to have a look at the customer service. The restaurant was not busy at all but the waitress was not attentive at all. Not coming back here.

Wouldn't refer to this as authentic at all. Ban Chan's are overpriced and the bibimbap lacks flavor, super soggy rice. I'd give the service here less than one star, because one of my orders never arrived and despite inquiring about it 3 times, it was just nodded at and then ignored. This also wasn't during a busy time at all with only 4 people at the restaurant. Cutlery and plates were dirty. I'd rather go somewhere else where people treat customers with respect

Writing this as someone that lived in South Korea for 4 years. Sometimes pop into this restaurant to get my fix of korean cuisine but often times left disappointed and the last time was so bad it will be my last. I don’t believe any korean people work there. The doenjang jiggae lacks taste of genuine doenjang paste and had to send the dish back several times, still it never came out right. I had bibimbap last time, it should be served with a small side dish of gochujang paste, instead they serve it in a burger van style squeeze bottle. Never in my 4 years of living there had I seen this. Authentic gochujang would be too thick to do this so they must water it down. To make it worse the bottle looked like it hadn’t seen a cloth in weeks, and once I had used it the waiter picked it up and gave it to another table. So if you want to add more later on, good luck. The bibimbap was okay, not worth the price they charge and watch out for the sneaky tip they put on the bill, very cheeky when the service is actually bordering on rude. This restaurant is insulting to Korean cuisine.

The food taste really good but it’s really expensive. Some appetisers are more expensive than a main dish. We asked a waitress to give us takeaway box, after 15mins we had to ask a different waitress who finally gave us one. It’s really hard to get their attention when you need something.

This is a very bad place with bad customer service. You can get much better food elsewhere for the money. Its not worth your money. I ordered Bulgogi. Bulgogi usually has plenty of meat, but I was almost able to count how much meat was in it. Not much and a lot of vegetables than necessary. I asked the waitress I don't want it. But she insisted that this is how their Bulgogi is done and even suggested me to buy more and use more money! Just don't go. There are better places that is worth the money.

Food is already overpriced for the ammount thats served and on top of this you get a vat charge and a service charge on top. Not to mention the "korean coffee" is just instant coffee. Very slow and off feeling service. I won't be back.

Grubby surroundings and inattentive staff, verging on rudeness. The food was really poor. “Traditional” Korean instant noodles were a packet of Kimchi flavoured noodles with a couple of prawns and a tough bit of calamari thrown in. My partners main dish was slightly better but arrived immediately suggesting it was already ready…. Avoid.

They had all the dishes out but less quantity as they prepare on demand. Food was nice, I have today the dessert selection has Increased since last time. Today got jalabi and hanshi halwa. Jalabi tasted like sweet fish batter. It was thick as a finger, just about dipped in the sweet fluid and taste HORRIBLE. The Habshi Halwa, do not remotely taste like the original ones. It was oily sweet plum of something.
