Expensive, disappointing. The atmosphere is austere and cold and so is the service. A huge mistake going there.

Don't expect the same quality as Korean restaurants in London. You don't get the customary sides like kimchi, beansprouts etc. The rice was also slightly overcooked. Restaurant is pretty grotty too.

Ordered rice with vegetables and egg for £12. Got some rice, thin pieces of carrot and a few slices of cucumber!! Ridiculous!!

No one served us, the air conditioners in the restaurant did not work in the summer, and the windows were closed. I ordered Naengmyeon (cold noodles) and it arrived hot.

The food is great. Had squid and kim chi as starters. Jajangmyeon as the main course. Totally delicious and freshly prepared. I would have liked a little more attention when it came to service. The price for everything with drinks was around €25. Cheap for Oxford. Overall a good grade.

This is run by the Chinese and their dishes are *not* what I would identify as truly authentic to Korean cuisine. Don't waste your money. You can find much better ones in London or elsewhere.

I am a Korean female who came to Oxford for 4 months. I was very happy to sell Korean food, and it's really delicious. The foods I recommend are galbitang, tteokbokki, stir-fried squid, egg ramen, pork belly, fried seaweed rolls, and fried shrimp. It tastes similar to Korea and I highly recommend it. The Chinese chef is kind and has a good heart. Whenever I visit, they treat me kindly and little daughter serves me, which is very cute and she understands the order well. I am a Korean female college student who came to Oxford for four months of training. I was happy that they were selling Korean food, and it was really delicious. The foods I recommend are galbitang, tteokbokki, stir-fried squid, egg ramen, pork belly, fried seaweed rolls, and fried shrimp. It tastes similar to Korea and I highly recommend it. The Chinese chef is kind and has a good heart. Every time I visit, they treat me very kindly and the little daughter who serves me is very cute and understands my order very well.

Tofu dish came with seafood. Food was appalling. Very expensive.

Great food here at Bamboo. I gave 4* for the atmosphere because we were the only customers but that is probably because it was extremely cold that night. I recommend the plum liquer, very sweet and great after a couple of servings.

The service and food is 5 🌟. I really enjoy their traditional soups 🍲

We thought we would spend our ten year anniversary because my wife likes Korean food. We were served by a grumpy young school girl with no social or communication skills. Food was bland and severely over priced

Nice little place that serves Korean dishes. With a few exceptions, the recipe we were served for Budae Jiggae - Korean army stew - was very close to the real deal in Korea.

Incredibly rude waiter. Throwing a fit when taking order and she just throw the pen and receipt on the table when we pay. Food doesnt look like the picture (stew used frozen seafood and eggs is not soft but hard boiled). Definitely not recommend

Just don't go.. They are not Korean food. Kimchi taste like rotten cabbage with weird Chinese spice somehow. Portion very small, food hygiene rating is 3 out of 5.

This is a Chinese owned Korean style restaurant and the lady who served me was very kind and polite. The food I ordered, Kimchi fried rice was okay and the kimchi pancake was quite good. I have lived in Korea for a few years so I know how Korean food is supposed to taste. all in all it wasn't too bad.

the dishes were pricey with little quantity, seasoning in the soup was not good not was the noodles up to par, visuals did not match any other that I had seen before

Although the interior was shabby, The food was authentic and delicious. We got a taste from a place we've never been to. A family business that meets all the expectations and more. We had their kimchi stew, beef stew, tteobokki and seafood dishes. All were soo flavourful. Although tteobokki needed more rice cakes. Other than that, great service and quality 🤌🏽🤌🏽

Was desperately looking for a Korean restaurant in oxford and stumbled upon this place on a walk one day. Managed to try it the other day with my partner and we had a magnificent time. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was very family oriented. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting to try Korean food

Cannot recommend ;( 순두부 찌개 spicy soft tofu stew with rice was totally not what I expected. The smell, the taste.. was not what i expected. As I opened my food from delivery, the strong smell of anchovy came out. I was imagining something that i had in 휴게소 in korea ;( sad that there’s no korean restaurant in Oxford

The restaurant owner is very nice! The rice dishes is good! But I won't recommend the hot pot or other dishes.

A pearl among all the traditional restaurants in Oxford. There is still original Korean cuisine here, which is prepared with a lot of effort and passion. I can only recommend it to anyone who really wants to eat something good and not the usual unhealthy stuff.

Terrible. I ordered a few different dishes and ALL were awful. I didn’t expect much but still it’s just exceptionally horrible. Too salty, absolutely not Korean style. It’s more likely a Chinese food with terrible cooking skills. Never try this restaurant if you want something just “eatable.” I couldn’t even finish them. Just horrible. Absolutely a waste of money.

This was not Korean, by any margin. This is a Chinese restaurant cooking mock Korean food. For the price (3 small dishes coming to £40), it's absolute robbery. The food is clearly cooked from frozen. You won't taste anything but disappointment. It's almost palpable.

Ordered the Korean BBQ as a take away. Nothing even close to any BBQ I have ever had previously - Korean or otherwise. No sauce, no grill, no spice.

Not very happy I'm afraid. The BBQ squid was tasteless and not properly cleaned. The rice with vegetables and egg was completely blunt and the rice overcooked. Overpriced as well.

Best takeout I've had in a long time. Everything we ordered was delicious! We got 5 full dishes between three of us thinking we could never eat it all but there was nothing left! So so good especially kimchi fried rice and fried chicken.

The food was good and tasty, food served fast like the service. I might comeback if I really crave for some Korean food in this area. But I find them too expensive in comparison to other great restaurants in the area. The portions a bit small. The restaurant has a nice decoration but the ambiance is awful there is no soundtrack or music playing in the restaurant so you can hear other people's chewing their food and their conversation, and that thing on the glass blocking the the view from outside street is not privative but unwelcoming. Definitely a good place if they improve the pricing.

BBQ food are tasty although a bit expensive, but my bf still left tips for their good service.

This time I ordered army hot pot and spicy fried rice cake~ The army pot has a lot of ingredients, and the taste is not too spicy! The spicy fried rice cake is a bit spicier, and the rice cake has a chewy texture👍🏻 I have to order the white rice separately. I feel very touched that I can eat white rice with clear grains and not soft in the UK🤣 There are staff who can speak Chinese and Korean

Only had the food delivered. Was pretty tasty, although by no means was it the best Korean I've had (Vegetarian bento, kimchi pancake and sweet and sour chicken) but what I couldn't work out was the price. The bento box was good value and I'd have it again for sure, but the other two were wildly overpriced.

Been coming to Bamboo in Oxford for years. Always great food and service. They recently moved to a new address at 86 St Clement's Street.

This has long been my favourite restaurant in Oxford. It is very authentic - despite what others say. I can confirm its authenticity because I used to live in S. Korea, as well as elsewhere in E. Asia. The restaurant has recently moved to a new location in St Clement's and, as a result, is somewhat smaller than before. Nevertheless, it is still a great place to go - and I will definitely continue to take parties of people I need to entertain to this restaurant for as long as it remains open!

Good food, but the prices have been increasing more and more, while portion sizes are getting a little smaller. The lunch specials are pretty good deal though (Mon - Fri 12-3pm). But as the only Korean restaurant in the area, it's good. EDIT: For a (cheaper?) lunch alternative, also consider Jeong's Dosirak in the Covered Market. EDIT2: After seeing news of their food hygiene (got rating of zero in 2016) and experiencing their deteriorating quality, I am glad it is shut down.

Avoid at all costs. The food was mediocre. The staff was the worst they were rude and looked annoyed that they had costumers. Went because of the good reviews but now it looks like they were made by fake accounts

The waiter looked stinky and dumb, and had forgotten what he ordered. The toilet was not clean, the smell was very strong, and the toilet paper was not replenished after it was used up. It claims to be a Korean restaurant, but the taste is wrong.

Ive seen a few bad reviews on here which put me off, but the wife is korean and there are very limited options for korean food in Oxford so we decided to go. It was actually a decent experience, the seating arrangements are good, spaced tables, food itself was good although perhaps expensive for asian food. No issues with the service we had. I would go again.

I'm going to admit that the service isn't amazing here, you often have to wait for quite a long time to be served and for your meal to arrive, however the food is delicious and I wouldn't put anyone off eating here.

Food is not good, not fresh and certainly not so Korean! Staff members are just rude. Been there twice cos I want to be more objective. I’ll never go back again, and I suggest you avoid it.

I think the restaurant isn’t done by Korean and doesn’t know what is true Korean food.

They 90% always get my order wrong however they have great customer service and the kimchi is one of the best. The location is amazing, easy to get to and inside is very spacious. highly recommend it

Wonderful customer service, great food (although maybe a little pricy?) And amazing customer experience! The portions were a lot more generous than I'd expected. 😄 Decor was traditional like said in other reviews, but I found that extremely pleasant and authentic. People were friendly, atmosphere was nice and relaxing and we felt a nice sense of privacy thanks to the spacing of the tables. Not too close to others, not too far away. A truly amazing experience.

****AVOID THIS RESTAURANT AT ALL COSTS**** This is one of the worst restaurants in Oxford. The service is comically bad, the owners are exceptionally rude(and almost certainly dodgy), and it doesn't actually sell any Korean food(like at all). There are also a lot of reports of food poisoning after eating here. Additionally you will notice that almost all the 5 star reviews are by new accounts with only 1 review that were created in the last week. What a coincidence eh. I guess you have lots of time to create fake google accounts when your restaurant is an absolute toilet that no one ever goes to. However they had to take this one step further and have even started giving rival Asian restaurants in Oxford 1 star reviews with their fake google accounts. Absolutely pathetic! Update: the owners are still creating fake accounts, 25 in the last week that have only 1 review(a few have 2-3 reviews that are 1 star reviews of other Asian restaurant).

Soft tofu stew not so good. Kimchi stew is not bad. They provided two basic side dishes, but they weren't tasty so I didn't add any. The soybean paste stew is a bit bad and the LA grilled ribs are a bit sweet. The reason I gave it 4 stars is because I enjoyed the kimchi stew... It's been a while since I ate Korean food, so I think I enjoyed it.

Had dinner with my friend last week. We ordered the set menu B for each one. All my friends enjoyed the Korean style BBQ. The food is both nice in quality and quantity. Be sure to revisit again!

I take the family there regularly, as we love Korean food having spent many years in Asia. The food is excellent, authentic, fresh and well presented, and the portions are very generous. The furniture is a typical Korean hardwood; clearly imported, heavy and comfortable. Great place which has quickly become our local.

This is a very traditional Korean Restaurant and the food is delicious with high quality. The size is big enough, especially the set menu designed for two persons. Highly recommended!

Amazing korean food, good taste and good stuff!

We've only had takeaway from here and it is a little overpriced, but the food has been good! We've tried the chapchae noodles, beel bulgogi, and a couple of other popular Korean dishes. We'd go back again.

Very good customer service, the food is really delicious and served very quickly. I specially liked their fried chicken beef and pork, I would go there everyday if I could.The waiter called, Delia was really nice to us. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

This is clearly a chinese restaurant with a korean restaurant cover & made for british. After a very disappointing visit. I spoke with a korean friend about this restaurant. Her immediate response was: "Oh! that is a chinese restaurant, not korean, just look at their menu." We ordered: Kimchi Fried Rice: Taste nothing like the original. No kimchi i can spot in fried rice. Ginseng chicken soup:- come as half full, and no way we can spot any taste or trace of ginseng bbq chicken: i wonder how they can make the bbq chicken so greasy and oily seafood pancake: they have made it too thick and very little seafood in it. Prawn Tempura: i dont know why this is on the menu. They have made it with very thick batter, making it greasy. - a 10% service charge is by default charged to the bill. (If you feel the service is poor and not within reasonable standard, you have the right not to pay the service charge). If a restaurant claims service charge is optional only for cash payment. You can actually report the case to the tax dept as a suspicious case.(remember to get a receipt with amount, restaurant and date as proof) Very likely this restaurant is trying to hide their income from cash payment) if you are a typical british(i.e. someone with lower expectation on food standard) you should enjoy the food. Otherwise, avoid this restaurant.

Very bad service. Food doesn't taste nice at all, and we got a black hair in our dish. Only one very young girl knows how to smile the rest all treat you as you own them lots of money. Never go again and won't recommend!
