Those entering the Balti Hut in Rayners Lane for the first time must be made aware that it is Highly Addictive! We have been visiting here for over twenty five years and have given up all hope of resistance. Quite simply, the food is beyond supreme. Just when you think you cannot possibly eat another morsal across wafts another round of fresh aromas - spices being ground, a balti flaring up or more bread being retrieved from the tandoor, all prepared, cooked and served by some of the most cheery and professional people on the planet. We have heard of those who have managed to restrict their visits to bi-monthly, and they are to be admired. But I suspect, like us, they depart clutching interim doggy bags. There are flavours here that will find taste buds you never knew existed. A superb family run restaurant that will run and run while others rise and fall around it.This is a good place to be :)

Después de escuchar a unas cuantas personas hablar de manera muy favorable, decidimos probarlo esta tarde. Wow nos sorprendió gratamente! No vender refrescos. No había mantequilla sabor.Me gustaría volver aquí de nuevo, pero sólo para la nada de la parrilla, evitaría el curry.

This evening after a tiring day out we ordered a plate of dal makhni for the first time for takeaway. Disappointingly when the Dal was picked up by my husband his first impression was being unsatisfied with the quantity! But unsure he brought it homeOh my god! When it arrived home we got the shock of our life Firstly the dal had been served cold. Adding to the shock was the fact that it wasn't even dal makhni, it was actually masoor dal being served as dal makhni to customers!I mean why would they do that and why would people accept it But I realised after talking to a man called Sohail as I raised my feedback with him that they don't know the North Indian taste, but they claim to be serving Indian food, which is cheating the customers. We are never going to order and would suggest authentic North Indian food lovers to refrain unless you would be highly disappointed please. Hope it helps

We've been eating here since a few weeks after it opened, many years ago. I can't think why I've not reviewed it before. In some respects it's a bit basic but in the most important area, the food, it excels - which is why it's often packed all evening. The welcome is friendly and there's a large choice of dishes - most of them cooked in front of you on a huge wok stove in the restaurant. Other dishes are produced in a well-ordered kitchen to the rear.My current favourites are the sizzling garlic fish and sizzling king prawns but to be honest pretty much every dish is worth a try; I guess we've tried most of them over the years. Fresh nan breads are made in the restaurant and cooked in a tandoor, also on view. We sometimes book a large table and have family parties there and it's really good for those.Prices are average for this quality of food and BYO alcoholic drinks keeps the cost down.Conveniently situated 200m from Rayners Lane tube station. They also do take-aways.

Glasses have been dirty on occasions. Which doest leave good impressions. The venue requires a refurbishment and looks partly done however the most important part being the toilets have been left in a poor standard. If this place made these necessary improvements and ensured things are cleaned and washed well (and kept to a strict hygiene policy). Then it would be a decent eatery and would happily return.

I was at this particular restaurant with a friend of mine, we started off by ordering some poppadom which was accompanied by a bowl of salad, mint and chilli sauce, to our horror we noticed there to be a HAIR in the bowl of salad. The waiter quickly replaced the side tray and gave us another. To add to this I noticed that the mint sauce that was given had many lumps in it, as though it had been made from old yoghurt, although it hadn't gone off the taste really wasn't very pleasant. When I had asked the waiter if I could have some fresher mint sauce, he responded in distain saying: "Fresh?! This is fresh, it was made today sir." I found his tone and expression very unprofessional, especially considering the quality of food served. On top of this, the paneer tikka my friend and I had ordered seemed to be undercooked and really didn't taste how it should. On the plus side, the rest of the food I had ordered was up to standard, i.e. the paneer bhajia, muttar paneer and Bhatura. In my opinion the restaurant as a whole really needs a good cleaning, the place seems very dirty, especially the toilet area in the basement. Lastly the restaurant staff were loudly swearing at each other in Punjabi throughout our time there, hardly professional working behaviour. All in all my friend and I were most certainly not happy with our experience at Balti Hut.

This restaurant has been trading for a few years and the first time, years ago, was OK (from memory). We went to celebrate Valentine's recently and were not disappointed. We ordered the Garlic Tilapia fish and King Prawns, with garlic naan and mushroom rice for the 2 of us.The taste/sauce for the prawns and fish was almost identical - a slight disappointment. The mushroom rice had plenty of ingredients but came out a bit soggy otherwise tasted OK. The nan was not of the soft variety but OK too.We felt that it was slightly on the salty side - suited the European taste? My wife noticed that someone handled her naan with her bare hands - perhaps normal too.Overall, we rate it as VG but not excellent for the above reasons. Not cheap but OK.We might try their 'dry' tandoori chicken next time.

If you want smart dining, this place is not for you. But if you want great-tasting curries and melt-in-the-mouth naan bread straight from the tandoor, head for the Balti Hut. When we've been tempted to go elsewhere for a curry, we ask ourselves 'was that meal better than the Balti Hut?'. Almost invariably the answer is 'No'. My personal favourite is the Balti Fish Masala. Generous chunks of beautifully cooked white fish in a thick aromatic sauce. All you need with it is some plain rice and a naan. Plus a BYO chilled lager, of course. Perfection! PS other reviews are correct, the loos could do with refurbishment. But don't let this put you off going to the Balti Hut.

What I mean is that the decor is not what you are there for and they know that. its where Indians come and eat when they want a treat.I did not want to write this as I dont want to have to wait for a table when I want to go, but credit where credit is due.If you can as a family, make sure you order the family naan (trust me). This is a bring your own booze restaurant, so you will save money, by popping to the tesco metro over the road first. Its win win.

Those entering the Balti Hut in Rayners Lane for the first time must be made aware that it is Highly Addictive! We have been visiting here for over twenty years and have given up all hope of resistance. A superb family run restaurant that will run and run while others rise and fall around it.This is a good place to be.

I have been eating in at the Balti Hut for many years. I used to go as a kid with my family and now go there with friends. They have an open kitchen so you can see everything being cooked in front of you, they have one guy who just specialises in naan bread :-)The lamb chops are a must, you get 5 in a portion and being so large I rarely tackle the 5 on my own, definitely need to share these. The curries are massive, and taste so fresh, I always get the chicken jalfrezi. You can order the curries mild, medium or hot, beware that hot means hot, don't complain if it blows your head off. I used to go for hot but now medium is fine. The naan bread here is the best ever, the plain naan is delicious and there peshwari naan is also a personal fave. If you are extra hungry order a family naan which is huge and fantastic.Balti Hut is bring your own booze and there are cheap shops selling alcohol on the same street. If you are looking for a simple, tasty and great value food, this is the place to go.

We found this place by accident but we kept going back. The food is great really authentic and fresh. The majority of the food is made in front of you and it's well priced. The bathroom facilities are poor which is a shame but definitely worth a visit.

Every time this place produces tasty indian food just how I like it.The lamp chops are amazing, the curries are delicious and the service is quick and efficient. It may not look all fancy pantsy and the decor inside isnt exactly classy. But you don't need all that jazz when the food is so damn good.Bring your own beer, eat some tasty food and have a pleasant evening here and all at very reasonable prices. Put a lot of the neighbouring restaurants to shame!!

This place excels in Indian food - flavoursome, fresh and authentic. No wonder this place is always full of Indian customers enjoying the delicious flavours. Highly recommend the garlic fish and chicken balti. The decor is nice and simple, nothing fancy - but you come here for the food. It's a bring your own booze place, which is great. There's a Tesco and various shops nearby. I've been back time and time again - never fails to disappoint, always leave satisfied. Friendly, prompt, informative service too!

Balti Hut consistently provides delicious, well cooked and seasoned food. Everything is made in their open kitchen so there is none of this costco bought poppadums and naan bread nonsense. The staff, though with slightly colourful English, are incredibly polite and courteous and you can tell they really care about the food they serve and their customers' enjoyment. The restaurant decor is plain and no nonsense but its clean and humble and serves to elevate the surprise of just how delicious the food is. The only opportunity to improve would be to re do the toilets, which are usable but grubby. Could not rate this place higher and have been going for 2 years since my first trip where I fell in love with the food.

Excellent food especially the Kebabs. The Garlic Fish was out of this world. The Tandoori chicken was a bit dry though. naans and kulcha were great. The staff were very helpful and of course bring your own drinks. The Management need to do something about the toilets, my daughter went down to the ladies but never entered. I have been there 3 times now and will definitely go back and try other dishes which I haven't tried before.

The food is always consistently good – freshly cooked and nicely presented. I haven’t found anywhere better locally even though there are many other Indian restaurants around. It’s the sort of place where you can just go along without feeling you have to dress up (in fact, don’t). As it has become more and more popular, you need to make a reservation especially at the weekends. The staff are very helpful. It is brightly lit, canteen-style with NO TVs (yet, and I hope there never are). I won’t mention the toilets!

Recently had my first visit at The Balti Hut. Food was amazing, great value for money. However the toilets were very very dirty. Would be a better review apart from this.

Have been going to the Balti Hut for the last 18 years....almost on a monthly basis as food is excellent, prepared freshly in front of you and have a BYOB policy, but less now we have kids, but we all enjoy the experience and the excellent food and excellent service. Has had great reviews from most of the food critics, rightly so.

Really good. And so cheap. Bring your own wine, so save a fortune. A meat thali is £8, a veggie one £7, all cooked in front of your eyes and as spicy as you want. Lassi, proper sweets......The décor is school canteen, so you probably won't want to linger for ages, but the service is so attentive and the staff so friendly. Most of the guests are Asian, so that speaks volumes to me (although Rayner's Lane is a very Asian area. Try the shops in the village for real spices). They do takeaways.Just great.

l have been eating here with friends and family for nearly 20 years. lt is cosy with simple décor and serves typical Lahore style kahari and balti style dashes. Quality of freshly prepared dishes and Naan/ rotis are best in the area. They prepare some the best Kebabs in the area. lt is also reasonably priced. Best of all, you can take your on drinks (alcoholic).Always, service with smile and very friendly

It was my first time coming across pistachio lassi it so had to try. The lassi was lovely and thick but unfortunately too sweet. I should have bought some natural lassi to dilute the sweetness instead
