Balti Central in Northampton

I’ve been coming here for over 10 years and I’ve never had a bad meal. We had a delivery last night and just reminded me of how good their curry is! Great flavours, tastes really fresh and such good value. The portions are very generous. Highly recommended!

Unhygienic food with disgusting food... If you are from Gujarat, you will never like the taste. Me and my friend went after seeing the reviews (it's 4.4). I saw hair in the chapati. After that, we couldn't eat the food. It was a very bad experience. Please explore other Indian restaurants. Waste of money.

This restaurant is outstanding. The layout, cleanliness, service and food are off the highest standard. Good sized portions full of flavour using top quality ingredients. I thoughrouly enjoyed my experience and will most definitely return regularly when I'm working in Northampton. Highly recommended, 10/10. Well done to all that work here.

Close to my hotel, this was the best curry I've eaten in a while. Great portion size and a perfect king prawn bhuna with lovely chapatis. My friends balti chicken was great with a kheema naan the size of a small planet. Friendly, attentive service. Many thanks.

Conveniently positioned across the road from the hotel, the 2017 “Best Balti” winner sign was a definite plus. Really friendly staff in a very empty restaurant. However, I ordered my takeaway and hoped it was just a quiet night. Sadly, no. The Balti was mostly mush and tasting of very little but a mixture of spices not akin to any known recipe. However the Naan was delicious. Things have gone downhill, I fear, since 2017.

Service was great, staff were so nice and attended to my every need and request. The food was amazing, the portions were massive, I couldn't eat it all, so they put it in a takeaway box for me and I took it home. 👌

Visit to celebrate my birthday with 9 friends. Food was 10/10 and highly recommended. Service requires work. Had to ask after 45 mins of being sat at the table for our drinks orders to be taken. Another wait before asking for our food orders to be taken. Cutlery only brought to the table just before food arrived. When the starters finally arrived they were amazing. Very tasty and large portion sizes. Waiters cleared tables before everyone had finished eating which really isn't respectful. Asked for the bill at the end of the meal and for a menu so we could all ensure we paid correctly. I am an organiser of a social club and we attend our Supper Nights every month at different venues with no issue. The waiter then told me that we were £16.00 short despite everyone paying and adding a tip. I went with him to the counter where he added it up again and was told we were over £30.00 short. I assured him this was not the case and using his calculator and the payment receipts added it up twice in front of him which showed we had substantially overpaid. Despite watching me do it twice he then did it again himself and found this to be the case. His response was I am sorry I must have made a mistake! My birthday evening had been ruined and I was made to feel untrustworthy despite him having watched me add it up correctly. With hindsight I wish I had taken back our tip and donated it to charity. Only after leaving the restaurant did I become aware that this had happened previously to my friends. Very sad that they try to rip off their customers. Good job we were on the ball as some customers may not be. Be careful all.

Great service, good food, large portions.

In Northampton to watch rugby. Stopped here on our walk back from the game. Glad we did. Great meal. Customer recommended Butter Chicken and so I gave it a try, it was so good! The nan bread is huge. Mobile was nearly out of charge and a member of staff lent us a charger. Would recommend!

Food was lovely and so were they. We were their last customers of the night, but they didn't rush us to get out.

Good place and good food , tadka dal is probably one of the good ones I have had in UK. The size of the naan is quite big and one suffices for two

Still our fave Indian restaurant. Conveniently located in town. Parking round the back, £2 to leave the car overnight after 5pm. Really nice food, great service and good atmosphere.

Nice cozy place, good food, found the Tadka daal to be very nice, word of caution the roti size is quite substantial hence please check your appetite before ordering , will certainly visit again

Have been to the Balti Central a few times now and have never been let down. The food is freshly cooked and tasty! Staff are friendly and polite. A small issue with over charge on poppadoms and pickles was soon rectified and apologies issued! If you like a naan bread with your meal - be warned they are huge!!!!! I thought I had been given a family one by mistake but no! The family ones are the size of the table. They even made me coconut rice which was not on the menu!!

The legend that is Balti Central! Been going here since I was a teen.. this place should be awarded as one of Northampton’s official landmarks 😂

Worst restaurant I have ever visited in Northampton. The manager there believes only English people have good standards, not Indians have. We had to request for the hand napkins twice and for 5 of us they provided a single one. Really disappointed with their service and I won't suggest you guys to have a dine in there.I cannot post this comment without giving a star on this otherwise I wouldnot have given it.

Either we were served very big portions or we ordered the wrong amount; the outcome, however, was the same as we had a lot of food. The food is good and the prices are reasonable. Service was fast and all the staff were polite.

The worst restaurant experience I have ever had. The food taste was really bad with a really bad smell of oil in the food. But still we didn't complain. And then the waiter says they have charged service charge of 4 pounds to our bill of 16 pounds as we ordered small meal. Upon asking the manger was really very rude and he misbehaved. He said they charge it to every customer which was a complete lie and not even what waiter told. I will never recommend this place to anyone. Those guys are really ill mannered and greedy.

The worst restaurant I have ever seen, me and my wife went there and we had ordered starters , drinks and desserts. Though the bill was nearly 16 pounds he was asking 20 pounds with 4 pound as the service charge. This is because we had less bill as the waiter said, upon our denying this extra amount the manager said this is what we charge for every customer which was a complete lie and contradictory to what waiter said. We ended up not paying that amount and guess what he said if you don't pay this extra amount we won't be serving you next time. The food quality was also very average as they use mustard oil for cooking and was not cooked properly.

We used to live in Luton where the some of the best curry houses are ten a penny, we have lived in Northamptonshire for 6 years and struggling to match the food, atmosphere and warm welcome you get from previous restaurants in Luton Well let me tell you this hit the mark, they have kingfisher and cobra on tap, you can also bring your own? But the standard of the food was excellent, the range on offer, pages after page of options, The starter was huge but amazing, not greasy or a little meat and lots of sauce, but lots of meat and huge pancake Mains were all as good, I had a three meat choice dish it was so much meat in it I failed to finished it, My wife and son had very good choices and were left feeling very happy with the whole evening The service was excellent and the restaurant was 75% full on a Friday night on pay day weekend Special mentions to a charming man who served us Shane, a real cheeky Chap who make our evening go very well, met the boss Andy too all in all made to feel very welcome and we will becoming back soon

First visit here with colleagues, the service and portion size was good but when it came to food taste it was very bland, sheekh kebab starter and tandoori chicken was hard as a rock and the pilau rice had no aroma or taste of so called basmati rice that waiter said they use, first time ever I had a Delhi Belly straight after and I am from Indian subcontinent :), not recommended.

I've always enjoyed the food here and was trying to introduce my partner to this restaurant, and unfortunately balti central let themselves down tonight. We ordered takeaway which took almost 1.5 hours to arrive (we live about 4 miles away). As we live in a flat it can be tricky to find, but we'd left clear instructions and a telephone number for the driver, which has never caused us any issues with other food deliveries in the 5+ years we've lived here. We had to call the restaurant twice to chase the food, and when it arrived it was cold, and our kids were over-hungry and cranky. Would not recommend delivery from here, very off-putting and a terrible service. Such a shame!!

Ordered at 18:15 on their app, it’s now 21:00 and still waiting on our delivery. Three calls, to be told delivery driver is stuck in traffic, it’s on it way, it’s nearly there. Rang for the fourth time and I could here them talking saying it’s not even out yet. They then confirmed the order hadn’t even been passed to the kitchen to be cooked! Been using Balti Central for 7 plus years, and after the farce tonight will not be using them again.

We visited Balti Central tonight for the first time as a family , following on from recommendations from our teenage children who had previously visited. It was just superb, with amazing , friendly service , a great atmosphere and the most delicious , fresh food . It was a brilliant meal from start to finish . We ordered far too much , the family naan’s are HUGE, but we happily got a doggy bag to take the leftovers home. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough.

I've been coming here for a little over 2 years, generally takeaway due to covid. On reccomendation from a good friend. I doubt I've had better Asian food In Northampton or indeed the UK. We regularly order and never disappointed. The only time we've had an issue the owner personally apologised and sorted it. We'll keep retuning and ordering takeaway as it's good value and the best food on town. Service is great too. Reccomend.

Visited here having read the favourable reviews for a pre gig curry. Great choice on my part. Food and service was excellent. I had the chicken patia balti with a (individual!!) Naan bread. Food was very tasty and the naan must have measured 18x12 inches....

I ordered at 18:11 tonight, called at 19:24 to find out if my food was on its way to be told they left 10 minutes ago so I should receive it shortly. The food Finally arrived at 19:38 when I was given a 45 -1 delivery. Well what can I say I opened the korma which was for my kids it looked like baby purée food, it was so bland they refused to it. We ordered chicken tikka masala which was just as bad, 0 flavour. The mint dip tasted sour like the yogurt had gone off. We didn’t eat it so a waste of money and time.

Best curry house in Northampton by far! Staff are excellent, friendly and put up with my loud group of 8. The naans are massive but the best around. FULLY RECCOMMEND
