Called up to order. Halfway through the order, the guy taking the order just hung up because I said I needed to have another look at the menu as they didn’t do the dish I had asked for originally. The last time we had a delivery from them the food was cold when it arrived and there was a side order missing. Thought we’d give them the benefit of the doubt but Won’t be ordering from them again

Food good reasonably priced. Restaurant was to hot.

Picked up our first takeaway from baloo since being taken over by new management …and what can I say it was absolutely gorgeous! ..the staff were super friendly too win win for us

Service was awful, kept forgetting drinks orders, blanked one of us Every time they ordered. Very long wait for food and to top things off, the Waiter was flirting with my boyfriend all night long!

Returned here after visiting last year and discovered that even though there was a change of management there was no drop in quality of food or friendly service. As I'm only in Northampton once a year Baloo will be right at the top of my list for somewhere to eat.

New management, new food, smaller portions, and overpriced. Unfortunately I'll be looking for another curry house now, previously you order your Curry and it includes complementary rice, ordered tonight, got it back no rice, smaller portions and food no where near as nice as it used to be:( Shame used to highly rate this one

Visited Baloo Indian restaurant midweek. The restaurant was accomodating, but service was very slow, and the restaurant was not that busy. Ordered the Murgh Rajistani curry £14.95 and cheese naan £5.95. Presentation of the dishes was excellent, the taste was ok but perhaps lacked complex flavours and spices. Prices do seem a bit on the high side in comparison to other Indian restaurants in the area.

Really shocked and disappointed, i ordered are usual, 3 tikka masala and when food arrived was gutted for our meals to be bland and tasteless very watery and lots of oil, onion bhaji's were dripping with oil. I then found out afterwards that they were under new management, when I had rang to place my order I was never told and unfortunately after many years of being a loyal customer I will not be ordering again

Popped into here on our way to see a show at the derngate theatre wasn't expecting too much ....wow what a mistake very welcoming from the off ,very polite front of house food was excellent, authentic Indian fare done to perfection with a reasonable price .well worth a visit or takeaway.

Everything is possible at this restaurant, I am vegan and wheat free and they made sure I had exactly what I wanted and that everything was good for my dietary restrictions. They were so friendly and helpful.

No taste at all. Despite ordering Hot Vegetable Sizzler it was with zero taste, in fact there was not even salt in that. Highly disappointed once again with another restaurant in Northampton.. Seems like here people don't even know how the good food tastes like.

Tasty food, friendly service vegetarian options

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Baloo, and let me tell you, it was an absolute treat! The moment I stepped in, I was greeted by the incredibly friendly and attentive staff, making me feel welcome right away. They were more than happy to answer any questions I had about the menu and even offered some recommendations. I went with their suggestion of the chicken tikka masala, it did not disappoint! The tender and juicy chicken was cooked to perfection and smothered in a rich and creamy tomato-based sauce that had just the right amount of spice. It was served with a side of fluffy basmati rice and warm garlic naan, which was the perfect complement to the dish. But the real star of the show was the butter chicken. Oh my goodness, it was like nothing I've ever tasted before! The chicken was marinated in a mixture of yogurt and spices, then cooked in a creamy tomato sauce that was out of this world. It was rich, decadent, and had me craving more with every bite. I'm already planning my next visit just so I can have it again! Overall, my experience at Baloo was nothing short of exceptional. The food, the atmosphere, and the staff all came together to create an unforgettable dining experience. If you're in the mood for some delicious Indian cuisine, I highly recommend giving Baloo a try. You won't be disappointed! Good quality food at reasonable prices, seating is limited so pre booking is recommended.

So happy to find this place still going strong- I came back tonight after a 3 year gap, cos of lockdown and changing jobs- real happy to see the Bossman curry is still there and just as amazing as it was, that is consistency you don’t often see. Wonderful.

I am staying with my friend in the area and tried this restaurant out. 1. The owners and staff are great. They didn't just make me feel welcome, I feel like an actual friend. Had a great time. 2. I eat indian takeaway a lot, they have the most amount of meat in their keema naan hands down. 3. The mixed grill was amazing. Not much else to say but thanks!

Good and really cheap Indian food. The meat was very tender and well seasoned. In addition, the portion size was perfectly rationed, so you left the store completely full. The selection on the menu is also very diverse so that everyone can find something. The service was also first class. He recommended dishes that met our stated wishes. Overall, a great shop and perfect for anyone who loves or wants to get to know Indian food.

Me and my boyfriend ordered the house special butter chicken and the garlic chicken tikka sizzler to share and it was amazing. Both dishes were so tasty and better than an indian restaurant I had been to before. Definitely recommend.

Havent ordered a takeaway for a long time. I had a meal here before and was lovely but sorry to say my chicken madras was not the best tonight. The rice was dry with no flavour. The chicken I had was dry and no flavour. The madras sauce was just thick and hot. Not impressed tonight couldn't eat it 😕 sorry baloo

Fantastic flavoursome food and kind attentive service. Food came out sizzling hot and looked amazing. One of the best currys I have had and my mums shashlic was the best she has ever eaten. Highly recommended!

Worst chicken dish I have eaten in my entire life!!! I ordered a chicken madras and tandoori chicken. I could not eat anything. Chicken madras was pure red chilly without any other spices or salt. I like eating spicy food, but this was not spicy just red chilly!! Tandoori was just with red colour.. again no salt.. no marination.. Both the dishes were the worst I have ever tasted. I got this in take away, so cannot go back and complaint but would like to share my experience.

Average meal that we ordered as takeaway. Delivery service was good and portion sizes were good. Quite pricy and lamb korma and lamb passanda were tasteless. Not bad overall but somewhat disappointed.

Decidedly average Indian meal. Chicken was tough in my South Indian garlic curry, onion bhajis were dry and crumbling, saag paneer was tasteless. Very disappointing given how good a reputation this place has.

Felt a bit rushed to order even though it wasn't that late on a Monday night. The king prawn starter seemed like it was either reheated or over cooked yet the rest including mains was decent with nice flavour

Amazing curry and customer service

Ok so a year after the review below I need to update the review. I have had just about the worst Asian food my family and I have ever had. Despite the instructions for not adding colouring, the king prawns were that red am sure my wife will glow in the dark. The lamb rogon Josh was sooooo bland it could have featured on "Goodness Gracious me". The naan and tandoori roti were that rubbery that my jaw still hurts 20 mins later. Not what I expected. Surprisingly good. As an Asian, whose mother was recognised as one of the best cooks in Queens Park, Bedford. I can honestly say I was surprised and impressed.

My family and I have eaten in the Baloo Restaurant many times since it first opened. It is a bit on the small size and not so good if you are seated near the entrance, especially in Winter when the door is opened whenever people come to collect their takeaways. The food we have been served has always been excellent. More recently because of Covid we have only had takeaways, which the quality is just as good and prices very competitive. When collecting the service had been quick. They also cater for Vegan's and those in my family who are say the dishes they have tried were delicious. The only negative is that parking in St. Leonards Road can be difficult during busy times so you might not be able to get a space near the restaurant. Thoroughly recommended for eat in or takeaways.

Went here for a meal,sanitised on way in..tables were socially distanced,food was good,waited outside for a taxi,as all now close at 10pm,which we understand..well done baloo,would definatly go again!

This restaurant is absolutely amazing! The staff were amazing, the food was amazing, everything was absolutely out of this world! We have been customers for quite a while now and always enjoy the food, it is always top quality. Tonight we ordered a take away to be delivered, it was problematic from the start, however we placed the order and was told an hour. An hour later our food was delivered, cold, stone cold, also wrong, I phoned to tell the restaurant that they had sent butter chicken instead of Tabaqui chicken, easy mistake I guess, other than I told the person the number of the dish 61, only just now to be told the computer doesn’t recognise the numbers, so why have them? We decided that ok, wrong dish but the food is usually really good, we would have it, but as I have said it was cold, not Luke warm, cold. I phoned the restaurant and was just old oh sorry, shame we will never use the restaurant again. Please don’t delete this post.

Absolutely fantastic food. Possibly the best in Northampton and surrounding area.

Was visiting family recently and we ordered from Baloo, great choice by my in-laws! I had the chilli paneer starter which had just the right amount of heat for me but still full of flavour and the garlic chicken tikka sizzler main with garlic rice, also superb and the chicken had actually been on a skewer to cook and not just dumped in a generic sauce like so many places seem to. Complimentary naan breads too. We'll definitely be ordering again and maybe coming in to eat if we can, everybody loved their food.

One of my favourates in Northampton with the best naans. Not soo great for parking on weekends but nearby parking is available so doesn't bother us.

Lovely family meal. We came with a prebooked party of 17 at 7pm on a Saturday and were really well looked after! The staff were really attentive and helpful. The food was very good. My husband and I shared two curries from the speciality section of the menu and they were both delicious! Highly recommended!

Amazing staff, amazing service, amazing food. At Northampton due to work and this place has been absolutely amazing and the best Indian food I have ever tasted. Recommend: the Baloo Indian Sizzler with Chicken was amazing especially with the special rice!! Can’t recommend highly enough.

Fantastic service with excellent food. Very reasonably priced. Didn't expect it to be so busy, but the food was delivered to the table promptly and drinks were offered frequently. Overall I was very impressed with my first outing and would highly recommend it.

The restaurant was recommended to us from a friend of my wife's. I booked a table through the website and had an email confirmation. Arrived and was seated straight away. Friendly staff, took our order, had poppadoms to start and the dips were incredible, mains came out and did not disappoint. Meat was amazing, food was great, definitely going again.

We came here as it was in the list of best Indian restaurants in Northampton and we were not disappointed. I had never had duck in an Indian restaurant before and both the starter and main duck dishes were fabulous. Also tried the chicken and lamb dishes others had and they were soft and succulent. The staff were very pleasant and the place has a very nice feel to it. Parking isn't easy but worth the trouble!
