Called in enroute to Inverness for a quick bacon roll. Ordered 2 bacon rolls and asked for bacon and black pudding on toast. Was totally overcharged at the till and when I questioned it the woman behind the counter denied it. I will not go again and would advise you carry on to Pitlochry and a nice little cafe there 🥲

Had been recommended to us by friends, so enroute to Inverness , we stopped. We had small breakfast(with toast) ,bacon roll, tea & coffee for £14.39! Great value and made even better when we were given free refills! We stopped on return journey for coffee and scones, but had to complain that my scone had been heated without asking, ( I hate when butter melts) staff took this complaint graciously, advising that going forward they would ask before heating. Would certainly recommend this place to stop as friendly staff, very clean and tremendous value for money.

I thought this was a very nice visit and meal with a friend. The food was brilliant however, the burger didn’t have a bun which was 60p more I still liked the burger and the fries were incredible they also had lots of supply’s of sauce and vinegar aswell as salt! The drink I got was a bottomless and was good because they had different choices as usual like vimto and lemon and lime which was so good! I recommend going here if you visit Scotland or live around the area.

Great breakfast and coffee, fast service, clean and with a nice transport caff atmosphere. Easy parking after filling up with fuel. Staff not exactly rude but just not friendly at all - a cheerful welcome would really add to a positive experience especially when you’ve been driving for a few hours! Would have been five stars if staff had been a bit more welcoming (I work in tourism so appreciate it gets tiring but a simple smile works wonders!)

Just off the A9, Ballinluig Services and Motorgrill is the real deal. Fair price for fuel. A few lorries parked up - always a good sign. Looks out at hills and forests - very calming. The motorgrill looks like it has been refurbished recently - contemporary take on retro/vintage diner. I had a full Scottish breakfast but asked for no black pudding and got extra bacon in it's place. The quality of the ingredients was superb and the portions were generous. VERY tasty bacon. Bottomless refills of tea/coffee when buying a main meal. I benefited from this by getting my travel mug filled before leaving. Anyone reading my reviews may think I give 5* to everywhere I go. Not so - if I don't like somewhere I don't go back and I don't leave a review. There are plenty of folk who revel in leaving negative reviews and complaining constantly. I've decided I don't want to join that club of complainers. Instead, if I have a positive experience with good service and enjoy good quality produce, I choose to write about that. In this instance I'm absolutely blown away by how good Ballinluig Services Motorgrill is - authentic, independent - proper grub, plenty of it and excellent service.

Visited with my family on way back from Aberdeen. I had sausage, egg, chips and beans. To be fair the egg was nice and beans fine but took a bite of the sausage and immediately spat it back out as it tasted absolutely disgusting, like it was off . The chips were all mostly hard and not cooked properly. The tea was ok. Definitely won't be going back.

We've been coming to this place for over 30 years and it WAS excellent. The place has had a make over with less tables. The meal choices have been significantly reduced and the prices were high. My wife loves 'mince and tatties', but that had been removed from the menu. She ordered chicken and it was average. I ordered the fish and chips and the quality of the dinner was average, the portions small. Neither of us were impressed. How in the name of the wee man could you anyone make a howler of such a famous and popular restaurant? The usually friendly staff seemed bored and disinterested. After doing up the restaurant they forgot to do anything with the toilets! Own goal. My advice would be to avoid this place and try Pitlochry for restaurants/food. Such a pity this has been ruined. New owner?

We’ve been going here as a family for many years, and it was always good, with friendly, cheerful staff. We went in for lunch and were surprised to see that the place has had a makeover (except the toilets!). Has the place changed hands? There seems to be less tables. We preferred it as it used to be - a traditional ‘no frills’ truck stop/restaurant, suitable for all. No waitress service anymore which is a real shame, and you now must pay up front, which is never a good idea if you have an issue with your meal. Most of the staff were friendly, but one in particular looked like he’d rather be anywhere else than standing taking orders and payment from ‘irritating’ customers! The food was ok. Not sure if we’ll ever return. Lots of other places in the area to go instead!

Poor quality food, poorly sourced. Staff who stand and monitor diners akin to a school dinner. The menus lack any flexibility and a reluctance to change. Any change is £1, and one cannot make dish exclusively from the extras menu. This I found hilarious. This is elsewhere called 'customer service'.I can only assume that those giving 4/5 star rating have equally low expectations. Eat somewhere else and there is an outstanding alternative establishment that's also dog friendly not 500m away.

Ballinluig Grill is conveniently situated on the A9, north of Perth. It has been there forever, and hasn’t changed very much over the years. That is part of its charm. Hemos estado allí anteriormente y comimos un desayuno de 10 artículos más la cantidad de bollos, frutas, jugos de frutas y gachas, además de té o café y tostadas, solo ayúdense. I don’t know how they can justify this, they’ve just increased their menu prices, and although I admit the food is good and service fast, as a matter of principle I refuse to pay extra to change the breakfast menu!

Stopped here on way north recently and thoroughly enjoyed it. Staff were pleasant on arrival and service good. Their homemade soup was excellent ( mushroom) as was both their omelette and BLT. Good wholesome food at a reasonable price.

It was just really bad. I did not eat much of it. It's such low quality. It has a good reputation but we will never go hear again. Poor portions and poor price. Poor descriptions and definitions of what a breakfast or salad actually is.

We headed to Dundee from inverness and thought this would be the perfect place to stop, stretch the legs and get a bite to eat. How wrong were we. Yes it is very reasonably priced but, ooft, it's cheap for a reason. Deep fried sausages and microwaved everything else, the food was inedible, I will not be back.

Conveniently located just off the southbound side of the A9. A bit greasy spoon but food was freshly cooked and served promptly and the waiter kindly substituted bread and and butter for the fried bread of my full Scottish. Beware if you have a big car - car parking is tight and was a bit congested when I was there.

Gegeten op doorreis van Edinburgh naar Inverness. Koffie en eten waren prima. Was geen luxe restaurant, leek een beetje op een restaurant in Amerikaanse films waarbij de serveersters met kannen koffie lopen en je mok ‘refillen’

We had this restaurant recommended to us and we would certainly use it again. Ideally situated just off the A9 south of Pitlochry. The menu is typical of this type of establishment but the food is freshly made to order. Good wholesome meals accompanied by friendly and efficient service.

A cafe with petrol station next door, not a complex, and a pleasant change from the standard issue soulless and overpriced service station in that it's independent, reasonably priced and well run.

went in on monday 27th nov only because other cafe we liked was closed, been here lots of times because didn't know about other place, anyway this place has had its way for a long time probably because word of mouth over the years, you go in and wait to be seated while folk stare at you, when seated waiter or waitress can be surly as if they don't really want you there, no chit chat, no smile, i mean really whats the big deal to smile at your customers, left feeling we were annoying the staff! word to owner just because you have been here for years, wake up and smell your own coffee not too far away there is competition and i for one will be passing on the details on where to go

Repeat visit, convenient stop on the A9 for years. Frequented by locals, truckers and motorists alike. Good service with no Scottish-shortbread-tin-nonsense like it’s more famous expensive neighbour further up the road. Horses for courses. It’s honest food for hungry travellers. Table service with a good variety of food including soup, roasts, hot rolls and breakfasts.

I say lost because i think it has lost its way, upon entering { after loo visit} { more on that later} i was told to stand and wait to be given a table { the place was EMPTY} mm, i was ushered to a table, Now here is the rub, i realize it was 7;30 in evening and it closes at 8;30, and no doubt the good staff had cleaned up and were ready to make a bolt for home as soon as 8;31 arrived. So i looked at prices, mm , so i opted for a steak baguette, at £5.50, i was asked for drinks but with limited budget i declined{ didn't go down well }, so i sat pondered, meal arrived, now i say baguette , some may say small roll, with side of coleslaw, mm, ah well at £5.50 i should have made my own and brought it with me, having driven through rain, past accidents, police and all that the a9 gives you i had hoped for better. Listen i am no snob and i realize its mainly a truck stop, lashings of coffee and a bacon roll. AND suffice to say the a9 is not overloaded with stop offs for food, especially on an autumnal evening, i do not think House of Bruar would be chuffed if 10 trucks pulled up and drivers all piled in for bacon butties, mm we should try it. I felt sorry for the guy that arrived at 8;15, oh lord , how dare he, DO NOT SIT THEIR, OH to late, i did not enjoy my experience albeit that i needed a break, and loo stop, ah the loo, mm well lets see, the loo would not have looked out of place if it was slap bang in the middle of T in the park on the Sunday afternoon. lets just say the loo,s needed attention, now the sign said it was checked at 09;40 AM, now some 12 hours later i think a bus trip had been through it, next time i will stop in the lay by. So having paid my £5.50 for my roll and side, i soldiered on to Glasgow, albeit with an upset stomach, which returned later, if you get the drift, so on my route passed on way home i was glad it was shut, it is just not a shining example of Scotland's finest road side eateries , Yes if you want to grab a coffee and go { well not go the loo } so lets say room for improvement,

We visited here on a Saturday night. We were told to just take a seat anywhere, we had seven of us wanting to eat but the staff were not prepared to assist in getting a table for this amount, this resulted in us sitting at 2 different tables. The staff stand and stare at you while you are eating, the food is good if you like fresh from the freezer, but overall well cooked. The amount of coleslaw you got was like having coleslaw with chicken fillets instead of the other way round. The food didnt take long to arrive but once we finished, staff took 20 minutes to clear our plates before offering pudding. This is after they are constantly standing watching and following each other around. When paying, the women questioned me, without a smile, a few times if i was paying for it all, which i was as that was the table i had asked to pay for.

Been here many times and as it is open early you have little choice. It always performs well, I had a full breakfast with tea. Tea was poor, a bit old and none to hot. Obviously keep a large pot of tea on the go - bad practice. Meal was up to their usual high standards and arrived quickly.

Stopped for a cup,of tea and a cake. Quickly told to sit anywhere as the cafe was not busy. A bubbly waitress took our order of a pot of tea and a Mango Tango flavoured tea, a cake and a scone. Drinks arrived but the milk for the tea had turned. It was quickly replaced along with a second pot of tea free of charge. (Never going to be able to drink all that tea) The Mango Tango tea was fabulous. We had to go and ask if we could have our cakes as they had forgotten. The cakes were very very nice. So apart from the dodgy milk and memory, it was very nice.
