We ordered 8 meals and all of them were delicious and full of original flavours

recently visited this restaurant, and unfortunately, I found the prices to be quite excessive. Additionally, the pricing was not transparent, and I had to be extra cautious with the bill due to unexpected charges and add-ons. I highly recommend paying close attention to your bill and any extras that might be included without prior notice. This will definitely be my last visit.

Food was delicious very authentic flavours and taste, cendol drink was a little small a bigger glass would have been better! Overall nice place would return.

Came here for lunch today and the food was really good. Special fried rice was very filling. Prawns and chicken was great. Service was quick and staff were helpful and kind. Will definitely come back here again.

Fantastic find in Shaftesbury Ave which is often a sea of poor tourist traps. Great welcome, great service, fantastic authentic food (which the staff were very happy to talk about and give advice). Spice for flavour rather than pure heat - though you can get some heat if you want. Very theatre district friendly if you let them know your timings. Prices reasonable for location. Will definitely be back to enjoy more.

Great experience, first time we tasted Indonesian specialties. Possibility of viewing dishes on a tablet before ordering. Warning: if you don't eat very spicy foods, specify this when ordering, as it can quickly inflame the palate. We didn't know and the nasi goreng was very spicy for one of us and our baby. We also tasted the martabak daging which we recommend. The staff were very pleasant to us, and were very kind to our baby.

Kuzy Ayam just the job: great quality chicken with a sauce that packed a serious punch. Vegetable spring rolls tasty to start, as were Indonesian prawn crackers BUT there could have been more. House red was excellent! Mango ice cream a little underwhelming (it should have been creamier) but overall I was impressed and had my taste buds piqued for more!

One of the nicest services I've ever had in the UK with absolutely delicious food! My kids loved it so much so finished their plates even though it was their first time to try Indonesian food! Thanks to the staff for the excellent menu recommendations.

Went for Dinner and it did not disappoint.

I chose this restaurant as a surprise for my daughter who came back after traveling for a year in February. Bali was her favourite place and I have to say the food here was just as good as in Bali. I have booked again for this weekend with friends.if you like Indonesian cuisine this is the place to go

All 3 of us loved the Rijsttafel that we ordered. A variety of tastes, it wasn't too spicy (for one of my friends!). We couldn't make our way through it. As regards service, I must highlight Munna , who told us all about his home country + Bangladesh. He was so friendly and so helpful. He became a friend, for the time that we interacted. He should do very well in the future.

What a gem of a restaurant. Visited early (1800) on a hot Thursday evening. From the outside the restaurant looks plain but it was superb. The interior was very clean, and appealing. The staff were very welcoming, and answered all questions about the food. The food was superb, and service was excellent. Between us we had the Special Platter for 2, Martabak Daging, Thai Green Curry, Sambal Daging Goreng (Spicy Hot!), Ikan Tomato (note fish has to be deboned), Coconut Rice, Egg Fried Rice, followed by a Lychee fruit dessert. The food was so tasty, and absolutely delicious, for every course. The only surprise was having to debone the fish. I would highly recommend a visit, and hopefully will be able to revisit next time I’m in London.

The beef rendang and beef jerky balado are really top 👍👍👍 must try. And as for the Nasi Lemak, it's also delicious + the Fried Rice is also really good..., that's for sure, all the dishes at Bali Bali London, top markotop hehehe, your taste buds...

Lovely experience. This family-run restaurant not only provides delicious food, but excellent and friendly service. A nice selection on the menu, and really yummy food. We had starter and house speciality starters, as well as rice and noodles. The only thing better than the food were the delightful staff, who were helpful, friendly and knowledgable. Great restaurant, which I would recommend to all!

This was the first time I have tried pan-asian food and to say I was blown away was an understatement. The atmosphere was so homely and the staff were so sweet, kind and attentive. The food is incredible and bursts with a range of flavours. I would recommend this 1000x over!!

Celebrated my mom's birthday at lunchtime. It was our first try Indonesian food, so we had nice recommendations from the owner on what to choose. The dishes were delicious, the price was reasonable and very friendly staff. Definitely will be back!

Came in for lunch and got the ayam goreng with chilli sambal and kuzy chicken. Food tasted nice and was cheap, however, these were not authentic Indonesian flavours. Customer service was lovely though.

My wife and I had the set lunch at Bali Bali on Saturday the 9th March. What a fantastic restaurant, food was lovely and the flavours were outstanding. Will happily eat there again next time we visit London. Good value for money.

Lovely team and delicious food at this traditional Indonesian restaurant. The husband wife team have been running it together for 35 years. I still remember the meal from when I first tried it 7 years ago it was that good! The mixed platter starter was delicious and the Indonesian prawn crackers were gigantic. They have 1 mocktail which is lychee based and delicious. Go for the whole seabass and crispy fried chicken for main and the Kari lamb which has a tasty sauce. We finished off with rambutans which are a more dense style fleshy fruit similar to lychees. Halal and vegetarian options.

The lunch menu was good. The £11.50 lunch menu was good. My mum had the prawn soup and the prawn sambal with rice. I had the roti canai was good but a some bits were bit burnt, hence 4 star. The beef rendang wasn’t to my liking it had a charcoal taste. It was busy and I would go again. Not wheelchair accessible. Toilet in basement.

Me and my bestie come here at least 3 times a year. So much so the owner recognises us haha! For us there's a reason we come here year after year for the last 5 or 6 years, the quality and customer service. The quality of the food has not compromised in any way. The portions are generous and the hospitality is great. Highly recommend you make a reservation because it can get super busy very quickly. We've been here on weekend nights and even during the week. One time we came on Tuesday night and it was at capacity so make a reservation!! The food is a great representation of indo-malay food.

Absolutely fantastic meal and experience. Food was incredibly authentic & the owners are wonderfully warm and inviting. We had visited an Indonesian restaurant in Holland previously and enjoyed their rijstafel so thought we would indulge when we had access to another in London. This place really did not disappoint. Great portions and delicious, authentic food. The owners (2 brothers, one front of house and 1 in the kitchen) are the epitome of hospitality. We loved the gado gado salad with tofu and when we expressed this to front of house, the chef came upstairs to chat to us and even gave us the ingredients to recreate it home! Such a totally unexpected experience in the Covent garden area, I would utterly recommend it to anyone.

One of indonesian restaurant in London. They have plenty of indonesian food options and we ordered the all in one menu of the day, which consists several options for minimum 2 persons. To be honest, not the best indonesian restaurant I have ever tried, I thought since UK has more indonesian people, therefore the food could be more delicious, but the fact, the taste was so so. You need to book the table in advance unless you need to wait a bit for queueing.

Came here in between the afternoon and evening showings of Cursed Child as it’s only a stone’s throw away. Service extremely quick (though the older male staff member seemed unfriendly) and tasty food (highly recommend the Nasi Goreng Special or the Kari Kambing).

Still a great spot t find some tasty authentic Indonesian/Malaysian food. We booked in advance for early evening, and the place was full, as they were clearing out the pre-theatre meal rush. They had our table for two saved though. For starters my wife had the vegetable spring rolls, and I the chicken sate. Nice tasty dipping sauces with both, and the food was fresh and hot. For mains my wife had the Kari Ikan (deep fried fish in Malaysian style curry), and I had the Kari Daging (beef in medium hot Malaysian style curry). Nasi Putih (steamed rice) with both, and it was well cooked and truly delicious. I had a Bintang Indonesian beer to wash the meal down with. We really enjoyed the food, service, and ambience, the price was very reasonable, an we would definitely come again soon.

Good food, friendly staff. If you don’t know about Indonesian cuisine, ask the staff for recommendations. I did the same. I never had Indonesian food before and they were nice enough to recommend some dishes. Food was nice, spring roll was a bit oily for my taste. I’m always reluctant to have sea food as I’m not a fan of the smell. I was afraid Nasi goreng was gonna have smelly stuff but it was perfectly cooked. Would visit again!

Spicy and rather authentic spicy fish

Had a great lunch at Bali Bali, food was very tasty and the service was both professional and friendly.

I went to Bali Bali for my 50th birthday, booking out the whole restaurant. Altough there was initially some slight confusion over my order and the price, this was resolved swiftly. The food was excellent, really tasty, and not too spicy, extemely plentiful (we couldn't manage it all!) served quickly (without feeling rushed) and pretty much at the same time; no mean feat considering the numbers! Staff were extremely polite. I have two friends with allergies; the restaurant list most of their food allergens though not, unfortunately, some of the items I had ordered, and it was a bit tricky to work out what they could have though we got there in the end. We were able to pay for drinks as we went avoiding any difficulties working out the bill at the end. The wife of the manager, Zulfan, kindly made us a traditional Indonesian cake for dessert which was tasty and they even brought some out with a candle on; a very nice touch. :-) All in all, a really excellent restaurant which I would thoroughly recommend; looking forward to going back (though perhaps with slightly fewer of us next time!)

This is located in ideal location, Walking distance from Covent garden and piccadilly square. its also rare in fact it has a fully halal menu, which is difficult to find in this area. We ordered the special rijsttafel, which included 7 dishes that were popular at the time. most of these 7 were unfortunately quire underwhelming: 1. egg fried rice (2 portions")- nice but quite a basic dish anyway 2 beef rendang - this was decent, good flavors but a small portion 3 chicken Kari- terrible terrible. no flavour it was like boiled chicken in coconut sauce 4- prawn cracker - nice but again nothing special here 5- prawn curry - i forgot the name of this, but it was a spicy king prawn dish and was the best thing i tried. definitely recommend 5/5 dish 6- fried squid - was nice 7- some vegetarian dish - i forgot the name again, apologies but this was a blind order. the veg dish was very sweet. 8- CHicken Satay- this was nice, we got 4. Was a little dry. peanut sauce was not nice Service could have been better, i asked for napkins and only received them about 20 minutes into our meal. All 7 dishes arrived at once, and we were seated on a small table (despite bigger tables being available), which was not ideal. we asked for the bill and they were very slow to bring it and the card machine. overall service could be better for a place that wasnt very busy when we went there (maybe 4 tables). atmosphere was lovely, very spacious place no mocktails on the menu. so only no alcoholic option is a soft drink or water wines and beers are on the menu and served here.

Found this restaurant when looking for a meal before a show in a very busy west end. The service was good & very friendly and our food was served to us very promptly. Every dish we had was very nice and we all left very happy to stumble on this gem. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to others

Our 2nd trip to Bali Bali.. outstanding .. wonderful family run restaurant ... you feel like your dining with old friends. The food is amazing and the cost is so good for that part of town... no wonder it's been here as long as as it has.. recommend 100% we will be back for a 3rd time and hopefully may more. Great staff .. great location. 10/10

Dinner before a show. We found the restaurant accidentally- our nose guided us there!! Friendly efficient service- they showed us images of food on an iPad to help us make choices. Lumpia as a starter- we ordered two but had we shared the one it would have been perfect too- big unlike the tiny ones you get in a Chinese restaurant. Slightly greasy but loaded with shrimp, chicken, vegetables and lots of flavour. We ordered the egg fried rice, kari ayam and udang mesak pedas. Sufficient food for two of us. The prawns were really spicy- fine for me, my husband needed a Mac Flurry later! We were sorely tempted to order the whole fish and will be back to give it a go soon.

This restaurant is truly home away from home. It tasted and felt like I was back home in Indonesia. The Soto Ayam tasted exactly like my dad made it. The atmosphere and decor gave the vibe of a modern yet traditional Balinese restaurant. I will certainly be coming back :)

One of the best Indonesian food in London… price is reasonable… food is excellent… staff was friendly and service was fast… you can walk in but it is advisable to book in advance as it will be quite packed during lunch and dinner. We came as a pax of 7 and they can accomodate easily… we ordered Ayam kampumg sambal hijau, daging dendeng, sayur lodeh, ayam bawang and white rice… All the food is authentic indonesia taste and very delicious. The place is just off seven dials and walkimg distance from Leicester square and chinatown… And the food is Halal… another plus for us. This is our 3rd trip to this restaurant.. we will drop by this place whenever we are on our holiday in London. Highly recommended.

Excellent restaurant sur Londres. Accueil et service chaleureux, carte variée pour tous les gouts. Réservation en dernière minute pour une table de 5, nous avons passé un moment véritablement agréable à manger chez Bali Bali. Je recommande les yeux fermés.

The chicken is dry, the sauce is grainy. The laksa is nothing special. The food is fresh but not a place i will return to.

It’s pretty great to experience authentic Indonesian food in London, a restaurant that has been around since 1986. The rijttafel was tasty. Don’t go in a hurry, this is a family restaurant and it takes time to prepare great dishes.

Rijstaffel is a huge disappointment

Visited for a catch up lunch on a very wet,rainy weekday. Been here a long time ago and food were always very tasty. This time I was very disappointed as the dishes we ordered a plate of char koay teow ,vegetarian gado gado and nasi goreng special were very bland and the presentation of the dishes all looked the same. Vegetarian gado gado lacked peanut sauce. For starter we had the lumpia ( spring roll with meat fillings ) which was tasty and crispy with a nice chilly sauce. House wine were drinkable. Service was friendly.

Really nice food, authentic Indonesian menu with a few Thai dishes as well. I had the Beef Randang which was great.

One of the best lunches I have had. We went for the rice table spicy and non spicy selection. We were a group of 15 and we were all full and enjoyed the selection of amazing dishes and the team at Bali bali are amazing. We will be definitely coming back. If you want lots of great food and great flavours book bali Bali. I could eat here everyday happily.

Update: I visit this place again with my family when it is not that busy. The food once again is top notch, all menu that I and my famiy order taste very good, so 5 star. The service turns out really good because my family was served really well with all our needs. So I really recommend this place for the food and even for meeting up with friends. ***** Old review ***** This is a great place if you want to find some food to eat that taste great. It is muslim friendly as well since the food is halal. I order Char Kway Teow, and for me that had tried kway teow in many restaurant, this kway teow taste great 4.5/5. I haven't tried other menu, but from my friends' testimony whether it taste ok or great. The price is also standard for London, around £15-£20 per person if only considering main course and standard drink. The service is standard, but the waiting time for the food is very quick, less than 10 minutes which is great. The atmosphere is not the best but is ok although it is not quiet, so if you want to catch up with friends I recommend other places which is more private and quiet. However, it is good to accomodate a group of people around 12 max. with prior booking. Therefore, overall it is a good place that fits the purpose of having dinner or lunch but not so much if you search for a great atmosphere.

The team at bali bali are awesome and we was a large group of 15. We went for the chefss rice table selection and we had the mix of meat and veg. Everyone in my group enjoyed the food and was very full and satisfied with the amazing mix of dishes and flavour. Satay chicken is chummy as well as the rich beef dish. If you want to book for Christmas or for business come here. I be definitely coming back for more. It’s the best restaurant in London and excellent value for money . I definitely be coming back
