We were in a party of friends who went for lunch recently. We all thought the meals were overpriced for what was on offer at well over £15 each. Meals arrived in bowls not much bigger than cereal bowls which we were not particularly happy with because we like plates. Two of us had fish cakes which arrived in the way of three little fishy balls on a small bed of vegetable matter which was dry, underwhelming and not very substantial. If anything else to accompany the meal is required such as chips or a vegetable, it is an extra cost. The service was pleasant enough. We are aware that reviews so far for this business are much more positive than this one but nevertheless this is our honest opinion.

Stunning from start to finish. We went for the 7 course Christmas meal in the evening - an exceptional festive experience. Atmosphere, ambience, staff, service were all exceptional and only surpassed by the quality and presentation of the food which was simply outstanding. Michelin standard and quality food imho - an utter delight. Thank you again - a delight.

Absolutely everything about this place is 5 star: Food, atmosphere, value for money, ambience. The staff were engaging, informative, friendly, there are few places I go where I come out thinking that was awesome in every way but today I did - thank you to all at Baker and Cook x

My wife and I were staying in a local campsite and thought we would walk into Much Wenlock for a spot of lunch as we had seen the Baker & Cook shop the day before. We were a 'walk in' but there was no problem accommodating us. The initial feeling from the welcome was a warm friendly establishment with a touch of class. The reason I say this is the decor is has been done exceptionally tasteful and there is some subtle music playing in the background which is not overbearing and conducive to the overall atmosphere. The waitress was lovely and allowed us to choose our own table. The tables were nicely set out, clean and well spaced apart. We were presented with the menus and on perusal there was a variety of food to suit all tastes but they all had a twist, not your run of the mill standard food. We ordered our drinks which came promptly, my wife had a Malbec which was deep and rich in quality. We both eventually opted for the Moroccan chicken skewers on flatbread. This title does not do the dish justice. The lunch arrived and visually it looked fantastic a proper feast for the eyes and smelt delicious. The menu states it came with Tahini sauce and we both requested this came as a side which was no problem. The chicken was delicious, well marinaded and had all the smells of Morocco, a credit to the chef who knows how to combine the spices and accompaniments, crisp salad and two sauces (tahini and a red sweet tomato based sauce). The dish tasted as good as it looked and our wholehearted complements go to the chef. My wife then had a decaf latte and again it was a quality bean. I asked for the bill and it was a little over £40 you certainly get what you pay for and this included the Malbec which you would pay £8 for a glass where we live. Would we visit again ‘hell yes' just a shame that the are nearly 4 hours away otherwise this could be a regular haunt. We will be back one day, don’t change a thing. Ps we used the toilet facility during our meal and have to say that it followed that this too was decorated in a class way and well maintained. A credit to the owners. 👏🏻

This venue is a great place for lunch: delicious food, beautifully presented and a very warm atmosphere. The short, seasonal menu offered such options as tomato and burrata salad with pine-nuts, individual leek and mushroom tarts with taleggio, and fish cakes. We hadn't booked and the place was pretty busy yet the lovely team managed to fit in our party of five. Next time we will definitely book to allow more time there. Drinks included a well-made mocktail. The decor was simple and lovely: all in all an excellent place and good value.

We have been here twice for wonderful breakfasts. Decided to try lunch today. I had a mushroom & leek tart & Hubby had a lamb burger. They take humble ingredients and take them to the next level. We decided to share a pud of banana, pecan & maple syrup cake, with ice cream, delicious. Nice glass of wine each too. This is not just a cafe it’s a fine dining experience with the facility to have just coffee and cake. Absolutely beautiful, will be visiting again.

Visited for tea and cake during a trip to Much Wenlock. Welcoming staff and a lovely selection of cakes. Would definitely look to visit again for breakfast or lunch. Prices are higher than other cafés in the town but you get what you pay for! Lovely decor and peaceful surroundings.

Terrific little eatery situated on Sheinton Street. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, lunch or tea. Tastefully decorated & all staff are polite and attentive. Dropped by for an awesome breakfast, which included fruit & berry granola, eggs benedict & a wonderful Moroccan shakshuka. Certainly a place that stands out in the town. If you've not yet been, give it a try! 😉👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We stumbled across this gem by accident and were glad we did We had the cured beef and goats cheese with a short biscuit base which was fantastic in taste and mix of texture. Also the coronation quiche was lovely Although it was slightly more expensive than other cafes doing lunch we felt it offered much better value Will return and even go out of my way to visit

Spotted this whilst driving through the town, parked up and so glad we did. Nothing marked as GF, but had 3 or 4 options, including the one I chose which was smoked salmon, perfectly cooked poached egg, caper berries all on a couple of slices of garlic-buttered GF bread. Absolutely delicious, worth every penny of the £13.95 charged. Great service, couldn’t have been more helpful and welcoming. Will go back if I am ever in Much Wenlock again 😊

I've eaten here twice. On both occasions the food was extremely good , there is some originality in the menu, great for the adventurous and those seeking something a bit different. It is extremely popular and it has been very full on both of our visits. The décor is quirky and overall there is a nice atmosphere. Since most of the reviews on here are glowing, I'll make two constructive criticisms as this may be more useful. The menu is very restricted, there will only be a relatively small number of dishes. This is actually a positive, as we know that venues with huge menus will usually have a large number of microwaves, so that isn't the criticism, but they do seem to sell out of dishes very quickly. My last visit we were in quite a large party. Two couples came in after us but the waitress decided to take their orders first. One table had the last of my first choice and the other table took the last of my second choice leaving me with very few things left on the menu to pick from. What I did have was extremely good, so not too much of a problem, but it would be wise to book early, especially if you have particular preferences. My second minor quibble is that the meals (lunch at least) are basically main course plus sweet. I don't eat sweet courses much because I don't have a sweet tooth - but many other people will want to avoid sugary foods either because they are diabetic or have dietary concerns. I would always go for starter and main course. I believe they do starters and appetisers for set menus and evening events but that didn't appear to be an option at lunchtime when we were there.

We went for lunch on Tuesday not having booked and were lucky to get the last table. It is very trendy. Great decor - dark green walls. Quirky prints on the walls. It has 30 covers but you are not crowded. Very buzzy but you can hear others at your table. Really friendly efficient service. Imaginative menu. All of us had excellent mains and the ladies had brilliant cakes to follow. Wine and a bottle of cider were jolly good. Prices were reasonable given how good the food was. No signage to the very nice toilet. Cold outside but nice and warm inside. Highly recommended

The little cafe was well presented and nicely decorated and the food was wonderful. Sadly, the service was like nothing I had ever experienced before! Had to order drinks before I was allowed to have the menu - but my breakfast choice would normally have influenced the drink. On top of that we had to guess what drinks they might have: coffee, yes, but what types? We also had to guess at cold drinks they might keep - once we saw the menu, they had lots more choice than we realised. When the drinks did come and we were reading a book the waitress decided it was time to wipe the tables and we had to lift up the cups and then put the crockery and napkins back down onto a wet table! Very odd! We asked for tap water and nothing came, but the other waitress worked around the cafe asking everybody else if they’d like water! I have to say, when we asked again they did find us some glasses and half fill them with water. We were eventually given the menu and left for 10 minutes before being asked what we’d like to order - then told they hadn’t got what we wanted to order - it would have been helpful if she’d have told us at the point of handing us the menu! The waitress did stand there tapping her pen on the pad while we tried to chose something else at speed! Food also rather slow to arrive. I’m not sure I’ll be going back - as I said, the food was lovely, when it came, but service wasn’t very customer focussed.

An outstanding foody experience! Everything was just right, the lighting, the volume of the music, the attentiveness of the staff… nothing detracted from the excellent food that was beautifully presented and cooked to perfection.

Definitely the best cafe in Much Wenlock. Lovely decor, friendly staff and great food. We stopped for breakfast before a walk - would definitely recommend the mushroom/tarragon/cream on toast dish. The cakes looked fantastic too!
