Bakehouse in Bristol, City of

Bakehouse is situated in a really convenient spot - at the end/beginning of the Bristol-Bath Path. The food and drink are of great quality and the atmosphere here is really cool. There seems to be multiple businesses here and there are always lots of people hanging out here.

A hidden gem, I've worked in the local area for almost three years and this was my first visit. Great coffee and tasty cookies, I'd highly recommend!

I absolutely love this place we come here regularly, their food is amazing and coffee is smooth! But the takeaway cups and lids are terrible!!!!!

On an industrial estate in industrial unit which gives an unusual feel. Busy when I went so had to park on road. My pasty could have been hotter but was cooked earlier but other foods sometimes cooked to order so will be much hotter. Good selection of food and cakes looked fabulous but didn't have one, sadly.

Sandwiches and cake never disappoint, they're always experimenting with new recipes. Recommend if you enjoy novelty. They do a £9.75 meal deal where you can get a sandwich, cake and a drink. The outdoor part has a roof but the benches still get wet in the rain. Indoors it can be pretty busy during lunch hour.

Visited on a Saturday brunch time, and it was almost full but still some tables and not a long wait to order. Lovely atmosphere and great variety of pastry and food! It reminded me of a bakery in Amsterdam. The pasty was super good, well seasoned and hot! If it were in Cornwall it would be above average. The sausage roll was very big and delicious too! Tasted like it had Italian seasoning and the pastry was crispy. The butter croissant was fresh, a bit doughy and you could taste the butter. We enjoyed the iced lattes too.

Delicious cake and great range, 3 cakes deal make them very good value. Friendly staff and nice coffee too.

Great food (we had a steak pasty and the vegan Thai Curry Toastie); very friendly and helpful service; reasonable prices. Can't comment on the coffee as don't drink it. But it's called Bakehouse so think the food is the main reason for visiting!

Hidden gem that had a great selection of cakes!

Coffee not the most consistent, they’re alright. Their pastry is not my favourite either. Latte to have in is £3. Clearly the specialty of the place is their cake offerings which is plenty to choose from as you can see in the attached picture. Tried the pastel de nata, that was good. They also serve sandos, and people seems to enjoy it, might try the veggie offering someday as I’m eating only halal. Good place to hangout on a sunny day, the seating outside is plenty. If you cycle via the Bristol-Bath railway route and arrive from Bath, this will be a great first stop after the long cycle. Great first stop before the long cycle if you go the other direction too. Don’t expect a view though, you can only see roads and warehouses nearby. Bonus points: they played The Smiths. Good music. Bike friendly, pet friendly and laptop friendly. And accepts AMEX.

I LOVE bakehouse. Delicious savoury and sweet treats. I love how there is always something a little different on offer. It has a great atmosphere and staff are super friendly. It’s a little more on the expensive side but worth it when you want to treat yourself :)

Hidden little cafe on the industrial area of Old Market. Love how you can busk in the sun outside and really nice sandwiches! Love the basque cheesecake and sausage roll too! A bit expensive but it has a nice vibe being next to the park and it’s always busy with people coming and going which gives it a nice buzz! One of our usual places and wish there were more around!

I’ve stopped coming here because they refuse to provide sustainable options. Every drink and pastry is served in a single use container. That means that there is a carbon footprint of making that container and transporting it to your mouth that wouldn’t exist if this business chose to use proper mugs and plates. It doesn’t matter if it’s compostable or recyclable, it’s still single use and is an unacceptable way to run a business in this a and age. I hope the owners make the change necessary for me to come back. I’ve emailed about this issue and had no response so had to resort to a poor review.

Really really good toasties and sandwiches. Mega cakes too. And the staff are really friendly and helpful.

Lovely cafe but v disappointed to see only disposable cups and containers despite 'eating in' and there being a big kitchen space with at least 4 staff. Fab sausage roll and cinnamon roll. A good flat white too. Will definitely be back but please save the dolphins and switch to reusables!

An excellent lunchtime deal. The toasties are fantastic. I went with my 1 year old and they were very welcoming and accommodating.

Possibly the worst coffee I’ve had for some time. Paper single use cup, couldn’t taste the coffee. Scalding milk that burnt my tongue. No froth. Not good enough for £3.60

Nice spot on the bike path! Cakes are excellent and the ice coffee was great. There's a hanger for bikes and plenty of seats outside for when the sun's out

Lovely hidden gem just off of old market, food is tasty and the cakes are seamlessly endless.

Good location for B2B path users, great opening hours, lovely toasties, plenty of cake selection and decent coffee. Can't give 5* because of the reliance on single use cups and boxes for all food/drink, there's really no excuse for it and honestly drinking out of a cardboard cup makes me feel like I'm in McDonald's.

Just paid 6 quid for a loaf of bread that I'm pretty sure was yesterday's bread. When did bread become more expensive than beer?!?!

The coffee was pretty good. I bought a mozzarella basil and tomato pasty that was just a bunch of potatoes with passata flavour, not good.

Haver been here many times and the cake selection and the service has always been excellent. It is undoubtedly the best destination for cakes lovers in Bristol.

This place is awesome. I had a chicken bhaji pasty and a chicken sandwich / burger thing. Both were made expertly and tasted divine. It was like the chicken sandwich meat had been soaked in spice and goodness for a day before i ate it. So happy. Just be aware that the place is busy and so if you’re looking for a more relaxed sit down venue you might struggle. Its more of a grab and go place with seats. We were totally fine with this. WE WILL BE BACK!!!

I was induced to try this place because of the average rating. Unfortunately I can't see a reason why it's worth to go to this place ever again. By car it is a nightmare to find a slot, it is also expensive, the quality of good and drink is below every possible expectations. The service is unfriendly and "couldn't care less" attitude. Why bother going again? I won't, simple. The area is an industrial one, so obviously you won't be able to enjoy the landscape either, but not even enjoying a meal nor a good coffee. I left mine (that cost £3.90) completely full. It tasted awfully bad. I don't recommend this place for a drink nor a bite. But that's my personal experience. I wish other people a much better luck!!!

I have had both take out and I have dined in. Its a lovely bakery where they present the food beautifully, however they do not cover the food and I went in once in the summer and there were a lot of flies flying around the food. As a suggestion just use clear food covers. My second point upon my most recent visit I went in to grab a bite, near the fridge where the pre made sandwiches are is the kitchen area where they prepare the food, I'm glad its open so u can see however what I did not expect to see is a lady dip her whole ungloved hand into a jar of pickles. This really put me off. I just don't think it's very sanitary or professional when handling food.

I tried three of the four gluten free cakes that were on offer and all of them were absolutely delicious. The coffee was beautiful too. I will definitely return!

Great little place with indoor and outdoor seating. Very good coffee and lovely, friendly staff! I had a pasty, which oddly, had a sweetish glaze. Apparently they're one of the only things not made in site. The meal deal was good value for the quality of the food and arrived promptly. I'm not surprised this is such a popular spot.

Vast selection of cakes, decent wait times even when very busy, cool looking indie/industrial environment. Would visit again. My boyfriend loves the croissants from there.

Love going here, always delicious cakes and bread. "Squasage rolls" are my favourite! I bring my own cup as their only downfall is serving with disposable cups even if sitting in. This is due to safety reasons though as wroking bakery so can't lower the score. If you care about the environment, you should carry your own around at all times anyways just in case!! The food is the main thing and it's very tasty with some decent deals too which you don't always get in Bristol. Toasted sandwiches are very filling. All and all great place to swing by!

A “hipster” bakery in an industrial estate in the middle of nowhere and it is not dog friendly. This is just ridiculous and pretentious. I have no idea how good was the food as we had to leave because we couldn’t stay outside in freezing conditions. Dog owners, please don’t go in this place. You are not welcomed

Great food and staff, just wish they would not use disposable cups and containers when eating in. We need to be doing more. I tend to avoid places that use disposable containers etc.

I came in, for the 3rd time, to try get me a coffee... The person in front of me was talking to the guy in the counter, who seemed to be her dear friend, because they talked and talked for like a bout 5 min, whilst a cue formed behind. Then, when it was finaly my turn, I approach, say "good morning" and the guy literally turns around, not a word, and goes into the kitchen area and starts moving trays about, trying to look busy, whilst 3 people stand waiting to order. This people has enough money as it is, I rather buy instant and drink that than give this "bussines" one penny if my pocket.

Delicious sourdough and cakes, plus they slice the bread. I totally recommend it. Reasonable prices [20/10/23] today I had a hazelnut pain au chocolat (I saw it on Instagram and I wanted to try it) and it is a plain pain au chocolat with a kinda nutella spread on top, not worth it. Very disappointed.

Left as it says it’s dog friendly but it’s not. if you are on your own you can’t go in to order if you have a dog with you. You can sit outside with your dog and that’s fine if you are with other people as you can tag team to go in and see what you want. I just got asked to leave as soon as they saw me coming no options given. It was fine I didn’t mind as that’s their rules. There are plenty of other options in the local area such as Harts Bakery, Mokoko, the Dings Deli and Small Goods. It was more that I was just told I had to go. Hence my score is based solely on this. I’m sure the food is great but I had no way of finding out on this occasion.

Used to be okay but with the sudden and significant increase in bread price, it's just not worth it. There are bakeries within similar walking distance that have cheaper products with the same or better quality. Really weather dependent because the inside doesn't have a cozy vibe and you can only stay outside if it's sunny. Also, coffee is such a hit and miss here and you walk out disappointed after spending £4 on something you could make at home.

Cake, quite simply the cakeiest cake that ever did cake. Plus banging coffee and toasties. But mainly cake. Deals available including cake for your face, cake in a box and cake with other cakes... highly recommended.

Lovely bakes, coffee and plenty to choose from. Sausage roll smells absolutely devine. Dog friendly outdoor seating with cover, plenty of parking nearby. I was served by a lovely team on my first visit on a busy Sat morning, very welcoming and recommending different stuff to try. Sadly not the case on my second visit on a quiet afternoon.

SQUASHAGE ROLLS, don't miss out.

This place is great & everything tastes great, however I have major hygiene concerns. I’m quite surprised no other reviews mention the fact that there are flies everywhere and as all the cakes and food are open they crawl all over everything. I’m not really sure why this problem hasn’t been rectified already. But I definitely think something should be done.

There is so much choice that you probably need to take some time to decide which delicious item you would like. The prices are far better than expected. Can't sing this place's praises enough... Awful Expresso experience on a Sunday morning! Cold coffee! Assistant didn’t know the blend! Same price for a single as a double! Trendy but tardy! Complacent! One shot and you are out! Won’t be going back!

outstanding cafe connected to, I assume, a large industrial cake making company on site. A little of of the way but definitely worth the effort to make it. Good lunch deals on.

This place is near Old Market and 5 minutes way walking to the Temple Meads Train Station. It sell the best sausage rolls and cinnamon buns of the area. They are huge and quite tasty.
