We were on our way to Southwold along the pretty A1120 ‘tourist route’ in Suffolk when we spotted a sign to this delightful little cafe. It’s only a couple of hundred yards off the main road in a small converted barn-style building. What a little gem - mouthwatering home-made cakes, the friendliest welcome and a surprising but seductive array of antiques for sale. There were also some local crafts. The 2 of us had excellent coffee, Bakewell tart, orange and almond cake and a very good chocolate brownie. Pity it’s only open in the mornings apparently but perfect for elevenses and I bought some very nice soap. Uniquely it's a local community café run by volunteers and only open 11am-1pm. Best cakes for miles!

We visited Badingham Shop and Café as a family group of four adults and two children for coffee and cake during half term. What a fabulous little place! This is a apparently a community enterprise run by volunteers - and is arguably all the better for it. The rustic decor is attractively done, and it gives the café a very relaxed and homely feel. The staff were friendly and attentive without being at all overbearing. The locally sourced items for sale in the shop were very tempting, as were the various homemade cakes on offer; everyone in our party was certainly pleased with their choice of food and drink. Thoroughly recommend this little café - a real gem - we’ll be back!

Lovely cozy tearoom, proper tea and probably the best ploughman’s lunch I’ve ever had. Quality cheese and ham, generous salad, lovely chunky bread and what tasted like homemade chutney, fabulous.

What a fantastic pub! Only had time for a quick drink before closing but will definitely be back. Probably the second best pub in Sweffling! We will come back soon for proper drink and food.

Friendly staff, great food, well presented and reasonable prices. Well impressed and would go again if I lived closer but unfortunately I am too far away.

I'm Scottish on business down here and was staying at the orwell hotel and found this wee cafe by chance.... It's also known as The Basics Community Cafe. Charity run 👍👍 Delicious bacon n sausage sandwich and only £4. But disappointed no baps at 10am in the morning but still a good sandwich 👍
