A very cute and quintessential country cafe. The staff who, though were very busy, had time to be warm and friendly to us. We had soup, sandwiches, hot sausage rolls and coffees, that were all tasty. Yum! There are gifts to purchase and of course cider and plants. Definitely worth a visit in the gorgeous part of the UK😊

Our lunch was tasty, but it was only served a half hour after ordering, and only after we had prompted a member of staff. Folks who came after us were served before us. There was no apology for the delay.

While staying in Canterbury for a long weekend, we decided to take a short afternoon trip to Chilham and stopped by Badger’s Hill Farm and Cidery, expecting a traditional farm experience. It turns out the name is a bit misleading—there isn’t an actual cidery here, and what you’ll find is more of a nursery than a working farm. They do have a few animals on the property, such as goats, sheep, pigs, donkeys, and miniature ponies, but each is fenced separately. There’s no feeding allowed, and since the animals were busy eating when I visited, it wasn’t clear if interacting with them would be possible at other times. It felt a bit structured for what I envision a farm to be. However, the grounds themselves are beautiful, featuring an impressive nursery filled with a variety of trees, flowers, and plants that add a serene and picturesque quality to the place. The highlight of the visit was the on-site restaurant, where I enjoyed a well-brewed coffee and some truly outstanding carrot cake—moist, flavorful, and just the right balance of sweetness. It’s conveniently located, just a short walk from the train station or city centre, and easily accessible beginning on a pleasant walking path near St Mary’s. While it may not be the farm or cidery experience some might expect, it’s still a nice spot to explore if you’re looking for a peaceful afternoon surrounded by greenery.

We visited there for lunch to celebrate a birthday. It was amazing and exceded our expectations. The food was excellent and set in comfortable surroundings. The staff in the cafe were so friendly and welcoming, we were made to feel totally at home. The garden centre, while not really my thing, was beautifully designed and laid out, leading up to a peaceful walk along side several animal enclosures. The animals are obviously very happy and well cared for. Altogether a lovely experience and one which we will definitely recommend and return to soon. Thanks to everyone who we met there and please don't change a thing.

What a super place for families. Chickens free ranging round the plant nursery and outdoor eating areas. Interesting plants and containers for sale. Picnic tables in a mown paddock with adjacent individual picnic huts- to confound the eternal drizzle of this summer- and a super outdoor play area for littlies. Pretty outdoor eating area by cafe as well as snug sofas inside for chillier days or sun avoidance. My Americano had body and flavour to it and was hot but not blisteringly so. My husband's standard hot chocolate was perfect too. We were early in the day and the staff were friendly and pleasant. What a gem of a place!

Anyway the breakfast was very nice and all the staff were very friendly. I had my breakfast outside knowing the chickens were roaming freely. I adore nature and this is a very nice setting. Lovely little place, it is a little all over the place at the moment but lots under construction, so that is likely why. We ate there. The food was OK, but I think a little overpriced for what seemed to be a pretty generic burger. The chips were good though, I have to say, and the gardens where you ate were nice so I would certainly go back. However if I each again I'll try something different. One thing that was odd was the waiting staff carried the condiments with them, so when I opened the mayonnaise it was like running water, maybe not a good idea on a hot day.

Good location but the car park resembles a scene from WW1 trench warfare, it's not their fault but due to the fact that it's unmade the ruts and puddles make it pretty frightening for wheelchair users, or in my case power trolley users! Good team behind the counter, very helpful offering teas and coffee as well as light snacks and breakfasts! Seating inside and out, chickens wander around your feet pecking at crumbs from the tables! Great place to bring children although now more of a garden centre than what used to be a petting zoo! Loo's are in a portacabin!

Badgers hill used to be great, but after meeting up with my friend we found it to be an awful experience. The car park is full of pot holes that have got worse over the years. I had no choice but to go through a gigantic one near the exit. It was full up with rain and my car got stuck in the middle of it. As I could not proceed I had to reverse. The only option was to go as far right as possible. As I did my passenger side w rubbed up against a tree stump that was not visible to me due to the heavy rain. I only knew what it was because my friend saw what happened. I won't be returning even in dry weather because those bad deep pot holes can ruin your tyres and worse.

Sadly bought two azalea plants for over £300 in June this year and they were planted by an employee of the centre who recommended him to me. One is beautiful and one is clearly dying, both treated the same way. They tell me they had had the plants for over a year and they were fine when they left them and one of the plants has been shocked, maybe being replanted shocked one of the plants. They do not replace plants and offered me , as a gesture of goodwill £40! This is the only nursery in the area as far as I know who do not replace plants which die within the year! I lost a small tree from Canterbury Nursery at Herne after eighteen months, planted by my gardener and it was replaced without any query. BEWARE IF BUYING FROM THIS NURSERY, I DID NOT ACCEPT THE MONEY AND THEY DID NOT OFFER A PLANT IN ITS PLACE. ALSO BEWARE OF THE LADY MANAGER VERY VERY AGGRESSIVE AND UNHELPFUL, IN FACT DOWNRIGHT RUDE. THIS WITNESSED BY TWO PEOPLE WHO WERE WITH ME. The ladies in the restaurant and the food are excellent but forget the nursery plants.

What if someone hasn’t got access to a bank card due to losing it or left it at home, don’t have apple pay? luckily i live around the corner and was able to get my card but If it wasn’t for my son i would not have ordered he was feeling poorly so he wanted me to get him some pizza but staff said they don’t take cash only card payment policy since covid well it’s been 3 years since covid and it’s legal tender?but they reject it because it’s got germs, sounded absurd to me as I didn’t see the staffs wearing any face masks or any hand gloves and when asked that it is legal tender it should be illegal not to accept and are they planning on reinstating the cash payment policy anytime soon staff rudely said if the owner doesn’t want to change the policy he doesn't has to and he has chose not to like really?i think they need looking into by someone official if they can legally do that or not clearly ?
