My favourite brunch spot in Newcastle - relaxed atmosphere, delicious food and good coffee. Matt and Mo are incredibly friendly and welcoming too. Houmous is so good we ended up taking some to-go to have on lunches through the week! A real gem on Gosforth High Street - will defo be back

To sum it up, it is the best in Newcastle without a doubt. The quality of the coffee is important to me. It was very wonderful, not only for the weak strength, but the lemon cakes and croissants are as wonderful and beautiful as the coffee. Thank you. I enjoyed my time with my friend. Thank you for all the love and quality you gave us to have this wonderful time.

My review my might be a bit harsh but unfortunately it was a pet peeve. First the place feels really cosy, the gentleman taking orders was friendly and smiling which unfortunately is not as common as one thinks it should be. The coffee was really well made a bit overpriced and probably i am not fan of the beans used but really well made with no bitterness and i enjoyed that. The thing the really annoyed me is, even though i was in the establishment for only 15 minutes i left with my clothes and bag has this lingering oily smell. Must be something in the ventilation or something but really left me annoyed through the whole day. Even though i enjoyed the coffee but I don't think i will be coming again soon.

Not a lot of vegan options on the day I visited. And there was some very loud drilling next to the wall we were seated at. It was hard to hear my family sitting opposite me because of it. The staff were all amazing and friendly and i couldn't fault them at all. But the noise was very distracting and there were no vegan sweet treats on offer which was a bit disappointing as there were a few non vegan options for others. The coffee I did have was delicious and had beautiful latte art on top. Thank you to whoever made it, it was one of the nicest coffees I've had in awhile!

If we could leave a zero star review for service we would. Me and my girlfriend arrived around 14:20 and weren't greeted or recognised as we entered. We were sat down and told we would be served soon. There was not a lot of other customers in as we sat down, and the customers that came after were served before us. 15 minutes later, we got our hot chocolate and San Pellegrino ordered. 10 minutes later we got our drinks. 10 minutes later we were asked for our food but declined service due to poor attitude and literally staff drinking wine on the job. The drinks were subpar to add. We left at 3, disappointed. Not recommended.

After spending nearly £30 on breakfast, an hour into our visit on a Friday (5th May) morning, the owner told me and a friend we would have to give up the table as it got busier. When I asked if we could move to another table, he responded that only if we buy lunch this giving us a strong indication we had to leave. The food is overpriced as it is (£9 for a bowl of porridge!) and having spent nearly £30 already, we opted to leave. When you add bad customer service on top of overpriced standard food, it's really not worth going. It's on the busy Gosforth High St so not exactly picturesque and therefore not overcompensating for the other negative aspects. We won't be returning and my advice would be to go to a lovely cafe like Earthlings, Aidan's Kitchen in Sandyford, various cafes in Heaton or Kith & Kin in Whitley Bay. All value their customers rather than seeing them as purely walking £££s.

Found Baby Gray whilst on a sojourn up North, and definitely will be staying on my list of dining spots to visit away from home. Food quality is on par with old haunts such as Brother Marcus in Islington, which is doubly impressive when you compare the size; Baby Gray has a lot less space to work with, and so punches well above it's weight. The all important coffee is excellent, as coffee must be. Flat white was the right size, the milk was perfectly textured and the latte art adeptly done. The ambiance is lovely, it's got a buzz to compliment the tasteful decor, nicely wrapped up with some great tunes playing off a record deck. This is an elegant touch; in a world of on-demand music, curated quality looks to be their USP, which from what I saw seems to be what this spot is about. The only thing I don't like about this place is that it's not closer to home. Nothing is entirely perfect.

I'm torn on Greyjoy's. Mainly because of the price. The food (huevos rancheros with halloumi and bacon) was well put together and the coffee was great. The ingredients seemed to be of really good quality with obvious care given to the flavouring of the dish. The eggs were a bit firm for my liking which took the edge off just a bit. The scone I took away was good but no more than good. The service was attentive enough but not overwhelmingly friendly but they did check back which is always a nice touch. The interior is almost painfully stylish, multiple pendant lampshades, antique fire extinguisher etc. It didn't really add to the experience for me but if that's your sort of thing then nowhere on the High Street does it better. If I had spent 10 or 12 pounds on the experience I would have no complaints. But I spent 16 pounds. That's quite a bit and at the price I'd expect no niggles. In summary, I'd definitely come back but I don't think it would become a regular thing on the basis of this visit.

Updated photo menu. Freshly made dumplings, so I was prepared to wait. The place is inside the Grainger Market, and you can see the staff busy working away, making various dumplings and other foods for customers. The prawn har gow (dumplings) was very tasty @ £4.99 for 5 the boa buns are £1.80 each they also do noodles and various teas. There are stools to sit on and a table to the side of the unit great for wheelchair users to park up and enjoy their food.

Apart from some ambient music this compact pub is all about catching up with friends. No football, no loud music, just a chance to have a drink and a natter. If you want a really lively pub go to the Toon, otherwise I would highly recommend this place for friendliness and general clientele.

Been here a few times and the food is always of a decent standard. However last night me and my girlfriend decided to try a couple of different sushi options and one of them was crab. I was absolutely perplexed when they brought out our sushi with two crab sticks adorned on them. When I indicated to the waiter that we expected some sort of fresh crab meat he laughed awkwardly. For the price you pay your can get much better food elsewhere, you mainly pay for the theatre. Unfortunately after £130+ for two dinners, one bottle of wine and two soft drinks, I will not be back again.
