Babelas Continental Bar in Leicester

Great atmosphere! Can get a little crowded, but good service.

We enjoyed the cheeseboard with some beer and cider. We wish there could have more diverse textures and origins since this is a « continental » bar. I see the point of having all British cheeses to support local businesses, but a single guest cheese from the continent would be nice. The bartender lady was super nice and attentive. It was Sunday afternoon so the bar was quiet and very relaxing.

Not what it used to be like. Less food I had a two mussels that were served to me and weren't open, smaller plates for what we paid and ate and spending nearly £100 we left still hungry and ate again when we got home. We used to enjoy the place but after tonight's visit we won't be attending again which I hate to say but I will say what small bit was served did taste nice but only enough for a child unfortunately I'm afraid....

Been coming here for a number of years, whilst it maintains a great atmosphere one of the things I always liked was the cheese board option. Visited today and for the fourth time was advised that this was not available although it is still shown on the board.

Great vibes! Fantastic drinks selection, lovely atmosphere, tasteful decor, friendly and professional staff. What more could we want?! A wonderful little place.

Went for drinks after dinner with friends. Accoustics are dreadful. Can get really loud as nothing soft to absorb the noise. Great choice of beers served by friendly staff.

Went on a Friday when band was on. Had the cheese board on many occasions always great with a red wine or 2! Friendly atmosphere and great staff.

Loved my trip to Babelas the other day, that after our visit me & my wife went for a inspiring lovely walk in Swithland Woods, there we found a lovely remote spot & made mad passionate love for around 45 minutes, we also filmed ourselves while making love, a great momento to one day possibly show at the Oscars ..... maybes. We are calling our walk in the countryside : : ' bluebell's in springtime 🌱 🌼 '

I love this place. Its like sitting in a very nice and eccentric old uncle's sitting room. Oh it needs a flick of this and that but it's charm lies in that it simply is what it is and seems very proud of it. Great beers and always friendly service. Owners don't take noisy rabble.. brilliant

Hands down the best bar this side of Leicester. Friendly staff, great beers and an excellent cheese board. A bar where you can sit and pass an afternoon away with a book from their ‘library’ and a bottle of wine.

Had a Landlord beer and was a very good example of how a beer should be served

Friendly and busy neighbourhood bar. Good cocktails. Service can be slow at peak hours. Excellent for weekend brunch as well.

Beer is very well kept and served. Timothy Taylor Landlord is a highlight.

Not what I was expecting. It is a small Timothy Taylors. When I was there they had 3 or 4 ales on tap which were, apart from the one Oakham ale, fairly standard. A big plus is the range of gin. The decor was interesting too. Some European bits but it had a weird Asian mix too. I was expecting continental drinks and feel at a continental bar.

Watch out for the heads on the wall sculpture - when you're not looking - they move ;-) Best bar in Leicester - always a lively atmosphere.

Really impressed with the friendly service on a busy Friday after work. Three cheese cheeseboard for £6, which came with a generous amount of crackers and pickles (hurrah!). Limited ale selection, but alright prices for what they had :)

This is my friends local pub which we go to every time I visit. It has a great atmosphere, very welcoming and as previously mentions the cheese board is a must. If your ever in the area I would recommend giving it a try.
