I've been meaning to review Bab Tooma for ages, since it's our local in Leeds. The flavours and vibe never fail to make me feel like I've been transported straight to the heart of Syria. The dips, veggie mains (I don't eat meat), and hospitality are all deeply satisfying and warm. (Huge thanks especially to Sam and Maya for being brilliant.) Whether you're a falafel fanatic or a hummus enthusiast, Bab Tooma is a culinary oasis in Leeds. Just be warned: one bite and you'll be hooked.

12 of us came for 2 friends birthdays and were not disappointed. We had one gluten free person and a nut allergy, and the staff were knowledgeable about what was safe to eat. All the food was delicious, as was the complimentary tea and soup. The staff were amazing, especially Maia, who was so lovely and helpful. Will definitely be returning, thank you

Excellent food from Babtooma and great service from Sam! Have been a regular here for years now. I always get the grill, Muhammara and lemon and mint lemonade!

Was so excited to come here after seeing the photos but left disappointed in every way. The place was freezing cold. The shawarma had no flavour and was partially cold like it had been reheated. The tables and chairs were rocking and uneven. My glass was dirty and when I requested a new one the guy pulled a face. We were pretty much ignored for the rest of our meal. Considering the price of the food we really did expect better.

The Food is absolutely delicious! The starters are delicious, the main courses are always cooked to perfection and the konaffa is really quite delicious! The staff are always friendly and warm and make you feel welcome! Our waitress was Samrine and she was really lovely and attentive!

We booked a table for a family of 6 on line on 31 for 4:30pm as we had young children. There was no mention of a 1.5hr time limit. on arrival we were told we only had 1.5 hours time limit.The starters arrived within minutes of ordering. We thought that was good service! before we finished our starters the main course arrived. They then started clearing the plates before we had all finished. We then asked for the desert menu and were told we could not have a desert because we had to leave because as it was 6pm and we had reach our 1.5hr allocated time slot! We complained stating that there was no mention of a 1.5hr time limit online when we booked as we would not have book. Our children are only 7yrs old and not fast eaters. They apologised but said it was their policy! After we paid our bill £128 they brought us a pot of tea and said we could stay a further 30 minutes. We refused the tea and left. We will never return to this restaurant again. We have been regulars there for some years!

The food was very nice and the staff was very polite I would recommend coming here visited the Leeds roundhay road branch

We were quickly seated having called in on a whim. Menus were produced and water for the table without any request. That in itself is a welcome and refreshing change from some establishments who get the basics wrong. Not to digress. Our order was taken promptly with a smile. We were given bowls of a traditional lentil soup which we hadn’t ordered (nor were we charged). This was delicious and most welcome. Our meals consisted of humus, halloumi, shawarma chicken and lamb. All were excellent and generously sized dishes. Muhummarah was excellent. The restaurant was fairly busy and booking ahead is to be recommended to avoid disappointment. We will certainly want to visit again. Highly recommended.

Always the same quality of food and service. Really enjoy the atmosphere and the food tastes fresh with great flavours.

We were invited with friends who had been before. We love Turkish food so we’re excited to try Middle Eastern food. It’s very meat heavy but great choice and there is some veggie options. The place is nice and cosy and our waitress Maya was great Highly recommended

Food was nice. Kitchen staff seemed to be working hard. Manager seemed to be organised. Young man at front of house did not give a welcome on arrival, and seemed to have no idea about our booking and gave off an unprofessional image from the start. Young girl who was serving us just dumped the food on the table, and only seemed to "pretend" to be interested if our meal was ok after prompting by the manager. I also overheard her making fun of my appearance to another two waitresses who were looking over to the table and laughing at me. They were totally unaware that I'd overheard them, so continued with this behaviour right in my view. The same waitress was also commenting on another customer wearing a pink shirt to her friends and laughing away. Overall, the food was decent, but the service would have been better if not provided by staff behaving like primary school children . We still paid the 10% service charge as hopefully this will be shared with the kitchen staff. Sadly, I wouldn't return, as if I wanted to experience Mickey taking regarding my appearance, I'd go to the pub with my mates and let the banter commence.

We had some amazing food in our first Syrian experience, and couldn’t have asked for better service from our host Inaya. Nothing was too much effort and she really went the extra mile to make our experience top class. Special mention also to the manager who made sure we had a full walk through of the best dishes on the menu- can’t wait to come back for more.

Fantastic went Monday and Thursday good was tasty meat fresh not dry loved the soup touch to start with food and service and place was great allowed to relax and enjoy great service from maya and crew

Good atmosphere, very friendly and helpful staff, and loads of great dishes. The problem is restricting yourself to a sensible of food, and we failed. The dishes were too enticing, and as they came out we were thrilled to find they were as good as they sounded. The aubergine salad I had was superb, and others raved about the lamb. BUT the portions are generous, and its easy to do what we did and over order. No licence, so its bring your own alcohol, but I can recommend the mango soft drink which was excellent. The dishes were distinctly flavoured, and we all enjoyed the sharing experience (essential to savour the full range). The only slight quibble I had was the layout of the menu, which I found a bit confusing, and didn't give you any idea of the size of the dishes.

4 of us went last night for my birthday. We loved it. Really good food and attentive staff. We will definitely return. Oooooh, and the mango drink was GORGEOUS !

Visited as the menu looks great and just what we wanted as a family to enjoy a birthday celebration. Service * really slow, 45 mins for drinks and thankfully we checked our order as a lot of the order was actually wrong. Food * warn...

Really poor food hygiene standards. We were beside the kitchen. Saw soup bowls dropping on the floor and they were picked up, put back on the shelf ready to use. Big vat of red sauce just sitting on the floor uncovered. Waiter touching guests food...

Went for lunch today, but they don't open until 4pm now midweek. Discovered another nice place for lunch though :)

Staff were polite and helpful and the food was amazing! Nice decor and atmosphere, felt very relaxed despite it being very busy. I would definitely recommend this place.

Ordered through uvereats. Food arrived late, cold and half of it missing. Can’t recommend it even though what arrived tasted good.
