Baan Thai Restaurant in Leeds

Went there yesterday after a long while. It was just as good as it used to be. Enjoyed the food and the staff were lovely. Will go again soon.

Good quality food and very tasty. Staff were friendly and welcoming. A shame there was no dessert menu. Would be happy to recommend.

Having gone for many years and been highly delighted we were highly disappointed from the start. Arrived for our booking to be told we have only 3 starters and no curries. That changed to we do have curry now however no prawns - ordered sea bass - came back no sea bass- ordered steak in chill sauce - a pathetic piece of steak arrived on a plate - no garnish no chilli sauce - rice order was wrong - informed should be ginger and garlic and it was represented with shaving of ginger plonked on the top. We were told the chef would see us after he had completed the one other table starters. However. He came out before handing their starters with a bad attitude which revved us up even more. Told him to take the food away and not paying for it. Cost £55 for 3 starters - a few singa’s ( conveniently only had large ones )and bad attitude of owner /manager/chef. Felt very sorry for the 2 young front of house staff who to be fair were very professional and in my opinion should look for a new job quickly. Avoid at all cost.

First visit for a few years. Impressed with the food which did not disappoint. Service good and friendly. Will visit again.

Last night we went to Baan Thai a restaurant we have been numerous time previously but sadly this will be the last as the service and food was so poor we won’t be be back. The restaurant was very cold to the point where guests were sitting in coats and the starters were brought out on cold plates and was only lukewarm. I made the staff aware of this and was told they were sorry. The main course then took a further hour to arrive, baring in mind the restaurant was only half full, and was again served on cold plates and was like warm again. I sent the food back and was told that I would have to wait for the rest of the customers to be served before they would re-cool my meal which as I said I had waited by now 1hour and 20 mins for. This is appallingly back service and food and the reduction for all the problems was 10% off the affected food and 2 beers - not enough to replace a ruined evening. We won’t go back.

Not a good experience this evening, we have been several times and could never find fault, that was until this evening. We were shown to our table and handed very old and tired grubby menus, we ordered drinks and chose what we wanted. Starters were served and out of 4, 1 of them could be described as hot we pointed this to our server who said they would pass it in to the chef. We then waited over a hour before hot plates were brought to our table, then it must of been 10 minutes our mains were brought to the table on cold plates and again food not hot. We complained and 2 of the mains was returned to the kitchen to be redone, the chef said that there would be a wait as he had other orders to cook, we said this wasn't acceptable as we had already waited long enough.. The meals were redone and piping hot. We were told that we wouldn't have to pay for some of the food. We asked for our bill, when it arrived we were told that the 2 beers that we had were not being charged for we said that we weren't happy with this and our server went into the kitchen to see what could be done, she returned saying the most that they could offer was 10% off 2 of the meals which worked out at £1.50. The restaurant was cold, not busy and very short staffed all in all a bad experience and wouldn't recommend or be revisiting in the near future.

We have been going to the ban thai for 20 years. Last time we went when we could last year we thought the food was not up to the normal standard. We thought we would give it another chance tonight. The chablis was not available so we ordered a pinot. It was warm when we asked for a cold bottle of wine we were told the fridge had just been stocked up. Will not be going back

Been to the Baan Thai many many times always really enjoyed the food and service there. Went last night and was a bit aghast and having to pay VAT. Doubt we will be going back there .

Always liked Baan Thai but its standards have slipped over resent couple of years, went a few weeks ago waiter brought wrong order and insisted it was our fault. That much grease on floor under table you had to be careful when standing so as not to fall over. Been many, many times but no more.

Recently moved to the area and love a Thai meal so thought I would try here; I was not disappointed! The starter and main were both delicious! Recommend the Paneang curry! Diandra was lovely and went out of her way to look after us. I will definitely be coming back! :)

Thought we’d try this place last night rather than heading into Leeds and are really glad we did. Value for money wise it was fantastic. Really great food and so cheap with the 25% off. Really enjoyed our visit.

Visited as part of a group of four people. Found the ambience very comfortable and welcoming. Service for drinks and food was prompt and efficient with staff being friendly and helpful. I had Thai Green Curry which I found of generous portion and very tasty. Others in group concurred with comments which complimented my experience. All in a relaxed and enjoyable experience

Chicken massaman and prawn maassaman were excellent as someone who visits Thai restaurants on a regular basis My wife and I were very happy with the excellent cuisine we experienced.I will be ordering another takeaway next week

Feel very disappointed with my last visit here, my order came to £21 and my meal hasn't touch the sides. We ordered 2 starters ( fish cakes tasteless and veg spring rolls ) they came as 4 bite size portions . My main was red Thai chicken curry which came with 4 thin slices of chicken 2 thin slices of red and green peppers and the tray full of sauce, we got this with jasmine rice. Portions are really small and we had to have some bread to dip in the sauce as we were still hungry. I don't mind paying the price but don't like still been hungry after a meal. Looks like they are trying to recoup lost business in giving small portions .

My girlfriend and I ate there on Saturday night and the food was truly amazing and the staff were so nice. We didn't even have to book in advance. We are looking forward to going back there again very soon. Superb quality in all departments.

Lovey place. Food, service and price is great here. Ambience is lovely as well, I’d recommend to anyone in the vicinity to try this place. Thai bloke that runs it seems really on the ball too with promos and competitions.

Bastante bueno para tailandés en Inglaterra. Hace un tiempo desde que entré aquí, pero la comida sabía bien, creo que es lo mejor de los pocos tailandeses que he probado en Leeds. I absolutely love Thai but this place just doesn’t feel authentic. The staff are nice but the food just isn’t. In fact I’ve probably eaten better supermarket Thai food and at a fraction of the cost. I wouldn’t bother.

We wanted somewhere special to hold a meal for friends and family to celebrate our wedding day. Baan Thai went above and beyond to help. Let us choose our seating arrangements, even opened slightly early for us. They were even kind enough to get flowers for our tables. The food was exceptional, the king prawns given rave reviews and everyone said they enjoyed their meal. All food came out together which was impressive. We left feeling happy that the evening had gone well.

Had another great meal again here, was a bit worried with recent reviews, but don’t be, had great meal with plenty of taste. Wife returned for a long day driving so turned up late but everything was available and no rushing us. Will certainly be back soon. thanks

We arrived for 8 and the place was packed, we had reserved a table but told to sit in waiting area. Slight annoyed we were not offered a drink so got our own. Once upon a time , there was a young chipowat called bill seated it took a long time to take our order. The restaurant soon emptied after the first sitting but it only got worse. I order the sharing starter and the chicken skewers were obviously raw, not just in the middle but on the outside too. It took ages to get the waiters attention. We requested the bill so we could leave expecting to pay for beer and bottle of wine we had started drinking. The waiter returned to say we didn’t need to pay. Really disappointed as we’d been before about a year ago and had a nice meal. Has it changed owners? What’s going so badly wrong. We need a decd t restaurant in Morley

Después de visitar el restaurante hace 2 semanas (lo cual, a pesar de que era increíble, fue una de las mejores comidas que hemos tenido), decidimos ordenar para comer en casa. El envío fue 10 minutos después de la hora indicada y la comida estaba tibia con salsa. en el fondo de la bolsa. No obstante, nos dimos cuenta de que era el estándar que habíamos recibido hace 2 semanas NO FUE, ni siquiera estaba cerca, los rollitos de primavera tailandeses eran insípidos, los pasteles de maíz dulce eran simplemente pasteles de grasa frita (la grasa realmente goteaba al morderla) ) y el pollo satay era extremadamente seco y los platos principales estaban deslustrados y sosos también, lo cual es una gran decepción de lo que habíamos tenido antes, debido a esta experiencia que no volveremos a visitar el restaurante ni a ordenar para llevar los precios no reflejan Las normas alimentarias en absoluto.

Desde el momento en que entramos podemos decir que no sería genial. El personal era educado y amable, pero fueron apresurados con una gran fiesta. La dama joven que tomó nuestra orden había sido echada al fondo en su primera noche, así que no pudo responder las preguntas que le hicimos sobre la comida. Tuvimos que esperar un rato para que nos sentaran luego para conseguir comida. La decoración es muy básica, no el ambiente relajante de Tailandia que se experimenta en otros restaurantes tailandeses. Niños corriendo y muchos ruidos ruidosos. La comida era muy normal, el primer plato parecía haber sido una comida congelada de Islandia y el curry Pad Thai y Massaman no fue tan bueno como los sabores frescos típicos de Tailandia.

We have been a few times living near Morley, you have to give people a second chance. I found the food a little bland for my taste portion sizes are small which is not reflected in the price, I felt it is over priced for the portion and quality of food.

Been going to Baan Thai for years, its a little gem tucked away within Morley. The atmosphere is calming, food always great and good value. You are never waiting long and the staff are warm and friendly.

We used to be regulars but recently the menu has changed and unfortunately for us the meals are not as nice.

I was meeting a friend for dinner and this was in between where we both live so we gave it a try.

We had the sharing starter between 3 of us then shared the Chicken Pad Thai, Chicken Green Curry and Lamb Massaman Curry.

I have been going to this little local gem for over ten years and it has always been excellent.

Looks like you are entering an industrial estate but all of a sudden you are transported into Thailand.

We haven’t been for over a year but heard it had been taken over by new management. Love the new menu, food was excellent and much friendly service than before. Really enjoyed the food, we have booked to go back next week! Lee Harrison Morley

We had our Chrismas Party at Baan Thai, over 25 in attendance. Fantastic tasting food and lovely staff and service would highly recommend.

Went with wife and daughter cracking food and service we often go when our daughters over from France. If this were France you would easily double plus the bill.

Had a fantastic meal here with some colleagues.

Myself and family visited Baan Thai on Sunday evening and once again enjoyed an excellent Thai meal - the Early Bird is very good value for money and is available from 6pm-8pm most evenings apart from Friday and Saturday. We all enjoyed our chosen dishes and the service was very efficient and pleasant. The restaurant was very busy which is proof enough that the food and service is of a high standard. Unfortunately, there are some very negative reviews by other contributors on here which I really cannot understand. I would recommend that you go and try it for yourself and I am sure you will not be disappointed.

I don’t know how this place is still open - the masaman curry was effectively a plate of red oil with strips of warm chicken in it. Other dishes we really bad too. The red wine was freezing cold - we left without eating anything as it all went back to the kitchen. On the way out the guy we complained to was pretty argumentative with us to boot.

We loved this restaurant and saw it as a hidden gem, full of charm and amazing flavours at really good value...but the last 2 visits have been beyond disappointing. Previously the Thai green curry was rich and exotic, but was watery and boring. The pad Thai used to be fresh with a kick but now is lacking ingredients, noodles stuck together and just tasted of sweet chilli sauce.

We have been going to Baan Thai for 4 years now, we must go every 2 months or so.

I visited Baan Thai on a Saturday evening and was greeted by very friendly staff. The restaurant itself has a great atmosphere and very authentic decor- my partner went travelling in Thailand and it said it made him feel very authentic. The food was sublime!!! Well worth the money and cooked to perfection. Definitely one of the best restaurants in Morley. Will absolutely be booking again in the near future.

I have been a number of times and love it. I would recommend it to everyone. Both the food and service were excellent.

Just do yourself a big favour and don’t come - unless you want to experience the chicken swimming in a mystery red oil that proposes to be their “Panang Curry”

My first visit and somewhere I will visit again sooner rather than later. We had the set meal. Lots of small children very family friendly.

Ages since last visited here. As others have said access and outside of this place makes you doubt whether it will be any good. Well it is! The food is lovely and the people working there know what they're doing.

Great place, quite strange looking from outside but once inside its homely and in traditional Thai style. The early bird menu from Sun to Wed is an absolute bargain. The quality is always the same, ie great. Staff are efficient and food is served promptly.

After living in Morley all my life (33 years ) i had never been to Bann thai but had always wanted to try it. a post christmas knees up with friends saw us book in 30th december 10 of us . The place is a little gem very big inside and you would never guess you are in Morley. We had a quick beer as we waited for everyone to arrive then were seated. the tables are really big unlike some restaurants when you feel squashed . The food was great and amazing value for money the staff were great the post meal coffees we had were super. Overall can't fault it and will deffo be back . Great little touch from the owner who gave us a free bottle of fizz to celebrate two of our parties xmas engagement. As for a previous review about the carpark i can't comment on that but what i will say is the carpark is massive huge you shouldn't have trouble parking and can not ever see it getting full.

My family and I visited Baan Thai on Christmas Eve and we all enjoyed a lovely Thai meal. The food was well presented and of a high standard and the portions generous and flavourful. The staff were welcoming and the service was pleasant and efficient. I think since the new owners have taken over the food is of a better standard than before. The restaurant has a nice ambience and I think we are very lucky in Morley to have a restaurant such as this serving Thai cuisine. Over the years, we have visited Baan Thai on many occasions and never had any problems parking our car there - so please do not be put off by a previous reviewers unfortunate experience. I recommend you go and experience it for yourself and form your own opinion and I don't think you will be disappointed.

Visited with friends to celebrate our friends anniversary. The restaurant was quite full but many customers sat with coats on....

Having visited many times before, however was disappointed the last time, we thought we'd give it another try. My husband...

We often visit Baan Thai in Morley and alway have a quality meal. I often have a starter of deep fried prawns in batter which are lovely. The portion is always 5 prawns. Tonight, however this has suddenly changed to 4 prawns but the price remains the same. I called the manager across and asked him for the reasoning and I was told that it goes on weight, which is a blatant lie as I have had this many times before and the portion has always been 5. Personally I understand when a restaurant raises its prices that is just the nature of the game and I accept that, but don’t play people for fools by reducing the portion and continue to charge the same price. That is unacceptable as far as I am concerned .

Ok for the money. Would rather visit when not on early bird (tight wad) dining. To start I got served...

I’ve never eaten in Morley before but friends recommended this place. The parking is behind the restaurant which looks like an industrial estate from the front. I’m a pescatarian and found it very easy to eat here with all the fish selection. The food was lovely and had such good flavours. Drinks were reasonably priced and the staff were attentive :)! Really enjoyed the selection here!

Tremendous relaxed atmosphere with great food , service and very reasonable prices. Exceptional to find a restaurant not wanting to rip-off customers on drinks prices.

Booked in at Baan Thai for a birthday celebration. It was Wednesday night and quite busy.. a good sign..Large menu choices so we decided to have set menu for 2 people at 21.50 each.good choice of dishes and you could have differnt types of rice.service was good.other 3 members of party ordered starters a difference mains a.everything was delicious.we all enjoyed each dish and will definitely be back

We went here on the Early bird menu a starter and main course with rice or chips for £11.99 I was a bit apprehensive as I am not a lover of coconut but our daughter asked to go to a Tai restaurant for her birthday. I can honestly say it was brilliant!! I had prawn toast with sweet chilli dipping sauce and duck with vegetables in a beautiful spicy sauce with egg fried rice. The prawn toast was the best I have ever had! Delicious. The service was fantastic super polite and attentive without space invading. Don't be put off when you are driving to it as you only see the back of the building and it it looks like an old warehouse once you turn into the courtyard it has a lovely wooden covered area and an authentic feel. I can't wait to go again!!

After a long break, popped in for a quick Friday night take-away. The food didn't reach the previous heights, and instead was very average. We ordered two dishes, one beef massaman curry and one duck with pineaple, and our impression is that both dishes were same sauce base, the only difference being one had a star anise and few bits of beef thrown in it, the other few bits of tomato and some duck. Though the food was good, we had such high expectations based on the standard the place used to be at that I'll be looking for somewhere else to get my thai food fix.

Going down hill fast, regular visitor but last two times have been let down, wouldn't mind as I appreciate some time things go wrong but when you complain i expect to be taken seriously and not laughed at. Last date off ribs was told tasted different to normal as they had changed the receipt slightly and added garlic to them NO they were sour and tasted rank nothing to do with garlic did address this issue last night before ordering the ribs to be told no,the receipt hadn't changed he got confused and I was given a staff order? Tonight thought I would try something new after seeing the garlic and white pepper dish on the menu I am a massive lover of White pepper the dish was completely bland no taste at all when I asked for white pepper to put on my meal to give it some flavour was told my the same cocky waiter oh no it's black pepper who went to the kitchen came back said it was white pepper but they didn't have any it was a set marinade with white pepper in and laughed like last time, the meal was disgusting I left over half of it and complained to then the waitress when she asked if everything was OK, who said sorry took it away and did nothing, as I was paying I showed my annoyance to the same gent who basically does not give a monkeys

This is a bit of a hidden gem as it is off the beaten track. It's kind on a very commercial street tucked away but with plenty of parking. There was 20 of us so we went for the set meal for ease. They fed us all at the same time. Everything was hot and immaculately presents. The food was good but nothing amazing. However the duck dish was a little special

Poor service and nowhere near as good as the thai places in Leeds, although the one in sheffield is much better than this.

Nice tiny restaurant. At the first time it is difficult to find it. Their food is very tasty. Many vegetarian options are actually vegan. My favorite are meals made with coconut milk, they are both sweet and a bit spicy. You can also order takeaway food over the phone, but you need to pick it up yourself.

Visited again on Tuesday with my son, been many times before for early bird meal at 6pm. Serving staff very welcoming. We had Thai fish cakes and Battered prawn with dipping sauce, Thai prawn crackers, Panang curry and Thai green curry with fried rice and jasmine rice, coffee. This place is a real gem, I would recommend a visit, we will definitely return.

Visited at the last minute, rang on our way out the house and they had a table for 2. Glad we booked as people were waiting for tables soon after we arrived. Had the early bird set menu and it did not disappoint. We will return to try more tasty dishes.

What a hidden gem morley has with this cracking restaurant, we had the £23 per head set menu, absolutely delicious from start to finish, I would happy go back, and more than happy to recommend to friends and family

First visit to Baan Thai for a couple of years and it did not disappoint. The food was exquisite as ever. Deliciously tasty and flavoursome. Absolutely faultless.All 4 members of our party enjoyed our dishes. The service is always excellent and authentic and served by staff in traditional Thai dress.

Excellent food here as has always been the case with Baan Thai. The menu is very wide ranging and varied and can be very cheap if you qualify for the early bird.All on my table (some who had never been previously) thought their food was amazing.Very nice atmosphere and the service is great, not kept waiting at all and were happy enough to let us wait for a late arrival.If this restaurant was in a more central location it would be a lot busier.Would definitely recommend.

Visited twice now and both times the food was absolutely perfect, no complaints whatsoever! Very flavoursome! Decor could do with updating to make it feel more comfortable. The lady serving us was very pleasant indeed. Highly recommended!

Visited with my wife 2 weeks ago - probably 5th or 6th visit in recent years. Tasty food with huge portions. Ended up taking what was left home for later. Pad Thai noodles particularly tasty!

Visited this Restaurant with my family for my sister and dads birthday. We had never been before but will certainly be visiting again as the food was brilliant. We all had a starter which was beautiful and was fresh produce. The woman that took our orders was lovely and knew everything on the menu which was nice. She kept us informed that out mains would be on there way in 10 to 15 minutes as the kitchen was very busy. When the mains arrived they were equally as great as the stater and everyone enjoyed them. The portion sizes were just right not too big but not too small. I would defiantly recommend to anyone in the area. This is a hidden gem of a restaurant and the food is brilliant. Will defiantly be back in the near future.

Visited this restaurant with a friend and we ordered a meal for two for around £22.00 per head . The Staff were warm and welcoming and the Food was served quickly and everything was absolutely delicious . If you are trying to keep the cost down the restaurant has an Early Bird menu at £11.99 which includes a starter, main course, rice ,tea or coffee available on Tues, Weds, Thurs and Sun 6-7.30pm . All in all if you like reasonably priced delicious Thai food this place is well worth a visit .

Ordered a take-away from here last week and it was one of the best take-aways I've ever had. Have had lovely meals eating in the restaurant, but have to say that the quality of the take-away was also superb and on a par with other top Thai restaurants in Leeds.

Consistently good fresh food. Have been coming for over 10 years now and still great authentic food. They do take away which is good but better to eat in. Early bird menu great value.

We absolutely love this place! Very friendly service and amazing authentic Thai cuisine. We just need to frequent it a bit more than we do. It's great to have such a wonderful local Thai Restaurant in the immediate area. We took my in-laws back at their request and they can't stop talking about how wonderful it was.

On a recent work trip to Huddersfield we were advised to try this place as it was good food and reasonably priced. We gave it a go and it does what it says on the tin!We ordered piles of prawn crackers, a few starters (Thai fish cakes were very nice) and the main course (i had massaman curry and lemongrass and chicken fried rice).All the food was good but my colleagues (who prefer a spicier dish) where disappointed with the temperature of the Tom Yum and Curry (a bowl of crushed chilli flakes were provided to crank it up a bit). The service was excellent and the cost was low, so try if you don't want volcano hot food!

This is a family run restaurant where every customer is warmly welcomed and served with high quality food. The waiters/waitresses are very pleasant and helpful. This restaurant is certainly worth a visit if you are in the vicinity of Morley, West Yorkshire.

Must of been here 50 times now! Keep trying other Thai restaurants up & down the country & yet to find one that matches the food quality of this place!Keep up the good work

Visited with quite high hopes after reading reviews and hearing a few people mention this place.... Starters were cheap frozen products out of packets deep fried and dripping in oil, mains looked ok but lacked any sort of flavour , both very bland and not even as good as the Thai food we get from the supermarket!!... Staff were polite and the Prices were pretty standard for a Friday night out , but for the quality of food it felt like a rip off.. Wouldn't return or recommend

My friends and I went to Baan Thai on the recommendation of another friend. We were not disappointed! We were met by a very polite waiter who showed us to our table. We opted for the early bird, two courses followed by tea/coffee for £11.99. I ordered pork meatballs to start followed by an unpronounceable chicken dish with ginger and peppers. All the food was served piping hot, extremely tasty and cooked to perfection. The restaurant itself had a lovely atmosphere and the service was second to none. We will most definitely be back!

We we're slightly skeptical at first from the back. But as we went in the front and sat down we we're made to feel really welcome. But that's nothing compared to the food. Top notch. Will go again

Excellent food - everything we tried was delicious, flavours were well balanced and well prepared. The staff was friendly and service was quick. Absolutely going to visit again.
