Avopoké in Newcastle upon Tyne

I highly recommend coming here for a poke bowl. The food is so fresh, no claggy dry rice in sight and so many well sourced products from the fish to the sides and sprinkles. It's so tasty!! Talking to the owner shows how much knowledge and interest he has in the food he makes, while Peggy the dog is so friendly and calm, it's a delight to wait with her while your fresh food is prepared. Absolutely check this place out!

The best poké bowls that I and everyone I know has ever had. We associate Avopoké with poké bowls so much that we just call them "Avopokés" now. You won't get better quality anywhere else.

Fresh poke bowls, everything seems to be very high quality. I think our order was a bit slow as the man needed to restock but it was worth waiting for. I loved the spicy tuna bowl very much. Would definitely go back.

Best poke bowl restaurant in Newcastle. Lovely and friendly staff and an adorable dog. Portions are huge and made fresh on site, highly customisable as I got a make your own bowl and you get a choice of 4 sides and toppings with a protein, base and sauce.

Friendly staff, and nice food at a fair price! I would have deducted half a star as the service was a bit slow - I suggest definitely pre-ordering. But overall definitely recommended.

This was such a lovely lunch! My boyfriend and I shared a regular bowl and it was a great portion. The tofu was delicious along with the kimchi. A must try if in Newcastle!

The rudest people I’ve ever spoken to. Waited 2 hours for a takeaway that never arrived to hardly get an apology over the phone. Don’t order from these people. Also, the reply is lie. You didn’t offer any freebies. You didn’t even apologise. Boycott this business. I was polite asking where my order is, and when I got passed over, you blamed deliveroo even though it was clearly your fault. I understand you need to look good for your google reviews, but lying is not the way you should be trying to improve things. Strongly recommend getting new management in or the business won’t be lasting long

Most delicious poke bowl I ever had

Currently one of my favourite go to places to go. I love Japanese food or Asian inspired food and this is basically just sushi.. in a bowl! I’d never tried a poke bowl before coming here and I never even really knew what it was. Californian bowl is my go to every time, and the chicken or shrimp gyoza are probably the best I’ve ever had so far. Does a good matcha latte too. Owners a nice guy, and you’ll usually be greeted by his dog when you walk in too which is nice haha. I recommend this place to everyone all the time because this is one of those great places you haven’t heard about (yet). 5*!

We went here just to try something a bit different and so glad we did. The food is totally awesome and the bonus is its all very healthy. We ordered gyoza (veg & shrimp) and the rainbow and the vegan bowl. The ‘very hot’ sauce the owner gave us was amazing. It's a new establishment and the menu is slightly limited but don’t let that put you off because what they do have is so worth having. We will definitely come back here again next time we’re Newcastle. An absolute gem of a find!

First time trying Poké bowls. I went for the Californian lite bowl tasty and healthy, the shrimp gyoza are very reasonably priced as well and some of the best I've had. Overall the place has a really welcoming vibe the staff are friendly and my food was made quickly. I will definitely be popping in again! 🥑

Built my own poke bowl - the all ingredients felt fresh and particularly enjoyed the salmon and sambal. I would come here regularly if I lived in Newcastle! The avocado smoothie was also a great drink for the hot day. Five out of five 🥑🥑🥑🥑🥑

Awesome food, quality of the fish is a real standout

Ordered through deliveroo as fancied something different as a takeaway.... Wow! What a treat! The freshest raw fish and bowls packed with flavour..... There were 5 of us, so we probably tried most of the set options.... And we weren't disappointed. Best takeaway food I've had in a long time. It took a while to deliver, but we got an apology and 5 free kombucha. We will be back! Thank you!

The pokébowls were absolutely worth the wait! I came in just as they ran out of rice, which they were super apologetic about. But I didn't mind. It gave me time to do some other shopping and when I came back a little earlier than planned I could spend the other time petting Peggy. Will definitely be back soon :)

AMAZING Drinks doesn't bring back memories, Poke bowl does I was longing for a poke bowl place to open up ever since I tried it abroad, and 4 years later, I heard of Avopoke and was excited to try it out. Poke bowl is rice with fish as meat topped with various vegetables and you can pick whatever you like from the menu. I had a regular Californian which has all the things decided (2 sizes, regular and lite) This is really good poke bowl, lots of salmon, and other various toppings, and lots of rice to fill you up. There was lots of flavour from the fish, strong sour and earthy tones from pickled ginger to cleanse your palate, sweetness from the pomegranate, and the mellow taste of the avocado which all complimented each other. I just wish the salmon was in slices rather than cubes. I only give 5 stars if I would go back another day to eat...this would be 6 stars because I wouldn't mind eating this everyday. Try it out, you'll be crawling back for more. Note, the rice is warm while the salmon and other things is cold, so recommended to eat as soon as possible.

The food here was exceptional - Fresh, full of flavour & healthy. I loved all the avocado plants around the shop, and the staff were incredibly welcoming. Also had their coffee, which was super tasty

Absolutely delicious poke bowls served here! I must have tried all the different flavours and they were all amazing, but if I had to pick one, it'd be the spicy one with the homemade kimchi. Very generous portions using all fresh ingredients. The service is great as well, very friendly people here. As a coffee enthusiast, I've been to many cafes and have never come across an avocado-coffee drink. What a great flavour combo, it really works and is strongly recommended!
